Watch the archived stream here - https://youtu.be/AbPFs0Vw86s Hey everyone we're back with a very rough, very echo-ey live show audio rip here. You can catch the live show here at www.twitch.tv/pftp_plays We may still do episodes how we've been doing them. We just wanted to do a test run and see how this goes. Def have notes for next time for sure.
This is one of those films where the story of how it got made is practically more interesting than the film itself. This is New York Ninja! Shot in 1984, but finished and released in 2021, we explore the film itself and how it came to be, and as with most episodes, go off on some non sequitur bullshit along the way.
RIP RAY LIOTTA YOU WERE THE BEST We just had to rewatch this film to remember and appreciate this truly magnificent film and performances not only by Ray but literally everyone else in this fucking film. Recording may sound a tad rough, we had to record under different conditions that couldn't really be avoided. Really now think for a second: Just how many amazing scenes are in this film? Many people would instantly say the "Funny How?" scene. Or marvel at the technicality of the long running shot from the street through the restaurant. They are correct to do this, these are terrific scenes, but you still have to realize that this entire movie just would not work without Ray Liotta holding the whole thing together. This whole movie rested on his shoulders, alongside amazing performances from so many other, more well established actors. Yet it seems almost effortless on his part. He carries the film while also being our guide through this life of organized crime. Truly, truly amazing performance. Ray Liotta will be missed and he had so much more to give.
Back with another film made in the last year, it's The Card Counter. You could say we got a little tilted in this one. We can all tilt. Check it out and please enjoy. We just might be getting a tad scandalous here on the show this time. We check out Showgirls, an underrated banger of a film from director Paul Verhoeven. Starring Elizabeth Berkley and Gina Gershon. This movie has sexual tension between just about every character, over-the-top... just about everything, doggy-chow enthusiasts, and...... SHOWBIZ. Check out this very much underappreciated film from the nineties. email us at podcastfortwopeople@gmail.com for recs or whatever. Podcast For Two People is: Brent @DrB357 Tyler @mendacii_ttv
Gonna be real with you guys, this episode is all over the place. There is talk about the film mentioned in the episode title. There is! There is also a bunch of bullshitting in this one. It's basically like a send off to the year of our lort Two Thousand and Twenty One.
Marriage on the rocks? Job got you down? Wife leave you for an Enlightened German Playboy? Then you have more in common with Sam Neill's character Mark in POSSESSION than you realize. You also better hope the similarities end there. Won't lie, you are best going in to this knowing as little as possible so consider this a spoiler warning. Also a spoiler warning in the ep itself so that's TWO warnings. This one goes out to all the people with jobs that are depressing as shit. This time we watched Bringing out the Dead, an underrated Martin Scorcese film. Featuring a great performance by the benevolent god of this podcast house, Nicolas Cage, plus many other great performances by a kind of 'who's who' of the era. This time we cover another of William Friedkin's films, CRUISING, starring Al Pacino. Bringing us into New York's underground gay clubs to track down a killer. Based on a novel of the same name as well as other true crimes that happened around that time. We talk about the film itself, but also the historical events that surrounded it, and ultimately damaged the films reputation. Back again in spooky month with a film from Italy Land! The Church is the second film from Michele Soavi, who was a regular in the Italian horror community of that time. In this episode, we talk about the film of course plus other stuff that occasionally derails but that's just how things work here on this channel, CAPICHE??? "I'm a fuckin' catholic!" Being huge fans of Herzog's we were well overdo to check out Abel Ferrara's Bad Lieutenant. Released in 1992 it is a stark contrast to the 2009 film. In this episode we talk about the films many strengths, and why a more modern audience might want to stay clear. I also may have said the film came out in 1991 in this episode. I'M SORRY!!!!! "What Else Ought There Be?" We cover a NEW film for once. It's The Green Knight! The Arthurian Tale come to life. Stars Dev Patel and Alicia Vikander. As well as other noteworthy performances. Also could quite possibly dethrone Die Hard as the movie obnoxious people claim is their favorite Christmas movie. We managed to find time to get together and play during the Back 4 Blood open beta weekend a couple weeks ago. Back 4 Blood is the latest upcoming game by Turtle Rock Studios, the studio responsible for the original Left 4 Dead, a game much beloved by the two of us. Naturally, we were excited to play. Back in 2018, Mandy released. We watched it. We covered it even! However, we sort of held back in terms of what to talk about since it was so fresh. We meant to follow up much sooner but never did. So now, finally, that time has come. No more talking around the film. There will certainly be spoilers. Is there something you want us to cover? Why don't you email us at podcastfortwopeople@gmail.com
At last, and I suppose, least, we conclude this trilogy with House by the Cemetery. Probably the weakest entry of the 3 but it certainly has its' high notes. Stick around how bout? Tyler Twitch - https://www.twitch.tv/mendacii Brent Twitch - https://www.twitch.tv/cyberbrent
Continuing the Gates of Hell trilogy by the maestro Fulci. Here we have the second film, The Beyond. "...E tu vivrai nel terrore! L'aldilà " being the full Italian title. This one continues the more supernatural undead motif we covered in our previous episode. May you listen to all contained herein... Tyler Twitch: www.twitch.tv/mendacii Brent Twitch: www.twitch.tv/cyberbrent
City of the Living Dead. Or the Italian title: Paura nella città dei morti viventi, Fear in the City of the Living Dead. The first in what would be known as the Gates of Hell trilogy. Features brain ripping, intestinal barfing, and a blow up sex doll. Don't eat a meal before watching this movie... Tyler twitch: www.twitch.tv/mendacii Brent twitch: www.twitch.tv/cyberbrent
Thanks to FluffyPenguinKitty for the recommendation. Check out her twitch here: https://www.twitch.tv/fluffypenguinkitty Today we watched Battle Royale, the movie/manga that started a genre. We look and Tyler tells me about the differences between the film and manga, since he is the Manga Maestro. Tyler's Twitch here: https://www.twitch.tv/mendacii
Today we have a look at the 1968 film "If...." A look at the horrors of.... B O A R D I N G S C H O O L. A breakout role for Malcolm McDowell and of course a still relevant film today. We also couldn't help but reminisce on our own school days and the days ahead as well.
Also known as just "The Beast". This film went completely under the radar when it originally released in 1988, bombing at the box office. Should it have been left to such obscurity? (no) In this episode we talk about the film and the anti-war film in general. Features great performances by Jason Patric and especially George Dzundza. As well as an excellent soundtrack by Mark Isham. *!!Spoilers Abound!! no in episode warning*
Kicking off the new year with the fourth Argento film we've covered. It's Deep Red! Featuring an awesome soundtrack by Goblin, a breakout performance by Daria Nicolodi (RIP!), and the kind of tale that only Argento could weave.
Part 2 of this double header brings us to Sanjuro! A perfect companion film to an already great film on its' own. Not to mention another great collaboration between Mifune and Kurosawa. Also used the Yojimbo theme again not only because it was all I could find but it also appears in Sanjuro as well plus it slaps so.....
This is now a Toshiro Mifune fancast We are back with part 1 of a 2 part companion episode. This is Yojimbo! Tyler's favorite movie for good reason. Probably the most western samurai film you'll ever see. So much so that it was remade as Fistful of Dollars by Sergio Leone in fact. Directed by the master Akira Kurosawa. With the incomparable Mifune as Sanjuro, who is just so magnetic anytime he is on screen.
We look at the fantastic, still relevant, Falling Down. Directed by the late, great Joel Schumacher. Micheal Douglas gives us probably the best performance of his career. Listen to our general anxiety about life in America through the lens of this underrated classic.
What better season than the spooky season than to watch an over-the-top splatterfest? It's Tokyo Gore Police! A film that seems to be gunning for Dead Alive's title of most bloody. We watched it, we talked about it, we got sidetracked on several topics. It's an episode!!!!! This would be the second Friedkin film we've covered. SORCERER from 1977 was a troubled production that yielded a criminally underappreciated film that has enjoyed an appreciation that has only grown as the years pass. Come and See, the 1985 film of director Elem Klimov, is the best war movie that has ever been made. It is also the most devastating.

Ready for some Old West Horror? Check out Bone Tomahawk, the 2015 film directed by S. Craig Zahler. Featuring great perfomances by Kurt Russell and ESPECIALLY Richard Jenkins. Also perhaps one of the most gruesome and violent film there has been in the entire Western genre
Blades: Check. Ninja tools: Check. A quest for vengeance that is your birthright? Oh he'll yea. It's Lady Snowblood, the 1973 film based off the manga of the same title. See where certain filmakers of today took inspiration.
It has been far too long for us to not have discussed a film so tremendous, so splendorous, that it remained tenable by its' director in the years to come. Far too long that no Gentleman could sit in silence and not claim satisfaction. We are now here to provide that satisfaction. Barry Lyndon is the 1975 film by Stanley Kubrick based off the lesser known William Makepeace Thackeray novel. Upon a recent rewatch it has become my favorite Kubrick film. So much so that I was able to intrigue Tyler into watching it. Now we went and recorded an episode of us bullshitting about it. We would love you to bless us with your company. With Doom Eternal on the (animal crossing new) horizon, its' time to reflect on the DOOM series as a whole. Why has it remained such a staple of our gaming culture for so long? Maybe we will talk about that maybe I'll just go off about Necrovision too. Doom is a series that refuses to die and you simply have to respect that. Back at long last to bring you a stinky surprise. It's Street Trash! No real plot to speak of really, just a liquor store salesman uncovering a 40 year old case of Viper who then decides to sell it to the local homeless population for a dollar a pop. The rest of the story is irrelevant to the plot. Lets try and talk about it a little bit. Fresh* off the news of Sam Raimi returning to horror, we take a look back on his last horror movie, Drag Me To Hell, ten years later. Been a while since you've curled up with a good book? Especially one with.... MURDER??!?! Hey its Tenebre a classic Argento film. This isn't a book I tricked you but why don't you let us tell you about this film? Also spelled as Tenebrae if that floats your boat.
Put your aviators on and your tightest pair of jeans, its time to look back at an 80's crime classic. One that should be talked about more: To Live and Die in LA! Featuring great performances and a killer sountrack by Wang Chung. We go into why this film stands out and above.
I challenge U to listen to this whole episode. And no getting up or pausing or else you're disqualified. RELAXER is the latest film by Joel Potrykus, the director of Buzzard.
