We're in the midst of a promising month of releases on PlayStation 5, and our patience is finally about to be rewarded. For starters, Housemarque's first party third-person shooter Saros has gone gold. So, too, has Capcom's beleaguered (yet incredibly promising) Pragmata, which was first revealed in 2020 for a 2022 release. Starfield's and Hades II's PS5 debuts, Mouse: PI For Hire's launch, the Konami-published Darwin's Paradox, the undoubtedly addictive Vampire Crawlers, and much more have us asking: When are we supposed to find the time to play all of this? It's a good problem to have! Plus: Sony purchases British machine learning firm Cinemersive Labs, Neil Druckmann teases the future of The Last of Us, Stellar Blade developer Shift Up buys Shinji Mikami's new studio outright, Disney executives are apparently interested in acquiring Epic, MindsEye's bizarre drama gets even weirder, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! What's the status of Fairgames? Are there any Life Is Strange fans in the LSM crew? Should gaming be more accessible to the poor? Is it possible that the Artemis II astronauts will listen to this episode of the show while en route to the moon? Once more, Xbox's summer showcase finds itself on the Sunday of Summer Games Fest weekend! It's there that they'll pull the lid off their 25th anniversary celebration with a deep dive on Gears Of War: E-Day alongside what will no doubt feature the likes of Fable, Halo, and plenty of other games. The Dukes find themselves mighty curious what Coalition has planned for Gears Of War this time around. Much like Halo, Gears Of War is known for its suite of modes that made it so dominant during the 360 days. Seeing how Halo Infinite struggled to ship with campaign, forge, and multiplayer attached, can Gears have a similar issue with its campaign, horde more, and multiplayer? Speaking of multiplayer, will this latest rendition appeal to the wall bouncers or the casuals? Furthermore, how far will the gameplay be taken from an innovation standpoint when this is the youngest we've ever seen Marcus and Dom? The questions are many, but the outcome is tantalizing as Developer Directs during the summer have established themselves as games where there is far more than usual to be shown off. All of our answers arrive on June 7th, but why not listen to the Dukes gab about this and much more until then, right? Please keep in mind that our timestamps are approximate, and will often be slightly off due to dynamic ad placement. 0:00:00 - Intro0:11:17 - A new segment?0:13:52 - Leak culture in video games0:23:45 - Xbox Partner Preview recap0:35:43 - Why Xbox killed their “This Is An Xbox” campaign0:38:43 - Updates and rumors on Halo Campaign Evolved0:49:54 - Bethesda shuts down Elder Scrolls Blades0:54:50 - Crystal Dynamics is making a Lord Of The Rings game1:07:31 - Eidos Montreal layoffs1:19:15 - Disney interested in buying Epic Games1:26:07 - Shift Up acquires Shinji Mikami's studio1:33:42 - Nintendo's 2026 schedule leaks1:45:53 - What We're Playing2:17:53 - Xbox Summer Showcase revealed Learn more about your ad choices. Update on our week: Daniel gives his review of 2018 medieval game Kingdom Come Deliverance. Daniel stated while the game has a PS5 patch to make it run smoother and with higher graphical fidelity, the realism of the game's mechanics made it a bit off putting. Having to make sure the character eats and sleeps can be a step too far in the name of realism. The combat also felt a bit too realistic where the character can barely take any damage without dying, leaving facing enemies a greater challenge than other games. After putting down and taking a break from Kingdom Come Deliverance, Daniel began to play a much more exciting game, Hi-Fi Rush. This game has some interesting mechanics and is more of a rhythm-action game revolving around music. The game comes from Shinji Mikami, the creator behind the original Resident Evil game. Taking a step away from horror, Hi-Fi Rush is an interesting ride full of musical challenges. Andy and Daniel discuss solar panels and give their opinions on the technology. Based on the cost and effort to set up and maintain, the guys seem uninterested in trying out the technology at this time, and will wait to see how it develops in the years to come. Noel gives a scathing review of Keeper, a 2025 horror film set in a secluded cabin in the woods. He states that while the cinematography is great, and the acting is decently believable, the story itself felt flat. The film leaves much to be desired and what it attempts to do with the genre, has been done better in many other films. Noel also gives his thoughts on a short indie game he beat recently, Nocturnal. Playing on the Steam Deck, Noel picked up that title for under $4 and gives a positive review, stating it was well worth the price to play. After beating the latest game in the franchise, Noel gives a deep dive review of Resident Evil 9. His experience with the franchise brought much hype to this latest showing from Capcom. As expected, the game delivered exactly what it advertised and showed that Capcom can still make captivating games within the Resident Evil franchise. He highly recommends it to anyone who is a fan of the genre, and the franchise in general. Andy talks about the passing of Chuck Norris, a larger than life American martial artist and actor who inspired and entertained many across the world. An important figure in the marital arts and film industry, Chuck Norris left a lasting impact on American culture and will definitely be missed. Andy brings up a recent press conference President Donald Trump had with Japan's Prime Minister. As usual, there is controversy surrounding President Trump and how his words and phrasing can consistently leave many shocked and surprised. The guys also discuss some of the recent events surrounding the war and America's role within it. In today's Daily Fix:ShiftUp, the publisher and developer behind 2024's hit action game, Stellar Blade, has purchased Shinji Mikami's Unbound game studio. Mikami is best known for directing the original Resident Evil and its remake, along with producing several sequels, working on Dino Crisis, and the Devil May Cry series, among others. Unbound is currently working on a game that is "fairly large," and is confident it will be a "masterpiece of a game." In other news, Crimson Desert launched two weeks ago to decent reviews, but after several major updates, user reviews and sales have skyrocketed. The game has now moved around 4 million copies since its debut. And finally, Jack Black has teased another Super Mario movie, this third one possibly bowing in 2029.

Always been a fan of Shinji Mikami's Work, and this one of those games I was missing from his work. This week I decided I needed to change that. Was Excited to try Evil Within since Resident Evil 4 is one of my favorite games of all time. This game is quite strange at times. It feels like we had Too many Cooks in the Kitchen style of game. Times, they are a-changin'. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is rightfully pleased with Xbox's performance on the PlayStation Store, bragging about being the biggest publisher on PSN while presenting Microsoft's recent financial report. His company has seven games in the top 25, more than even Sony itself. So, uh, batten down the hatches, because you're inevitably about to get way more Xbox on PS5. Plus: Fresh leaks show us how Sony's digital games have sold in recent years, Square Enix writes-down $140 million in losses while cancelling multiple games, Take Two guts its Private Division label, Kingdom Hearts promises to horrify in film form, and more. Then: Listener inquiries. Based on recent moves by a rival, would Last Stand Media ever consider going platform-free with all of its content? Which drug from the Fallout universe are we most likely to become addicted to? How can a small indie game garner any attention in such a crowded market? What is it that Chris actually does all day? Somehow, some way, we've made it to our 300th episode, and we did so without missing a single, solitary week between the first show in 2018 and today. We celebrated our milestone this past weekend with 500 listeners at a sold-out live show in New York City, and we're eager to reflect on what the experience meant to us. But the news marches on, too, albeit somewhat softly, and we'd be loath to ignore it. So let's delve in. The once-leaked Stellar Blade demo is set to be properly released on PSN by the time we publish, Embracer took a $800 million loss in selling Gearbox to Take Two, legendary game dev Shinji Mikami has founded a new team, Sony's Bend Studio seems to be going down the live service route, and more. Listener inquiries help us wrap things up, touching on topics like the golden era of RPGs, Dragon's Dogma 2's microtransaction drama, Nintendo's status as the ultimate gateway drug, and a listener too sick to come to Sacred 300 in NYC.
