Welcome to the QV Review, a short weekly show covering all the things host Brad Fetrow experienced in the world of pop culture for the week. On our inaugural episode, we discuss the Brandon Cronenberg movie Possessor, the sleazy Sonny Chiba film Wolf Guy: Enraged Lycanthrope, and the CSNY podcast So Far.
We’ve got one last treat for you before the final moon sets on FURbruary. In true Video Monsters fashion, we’re capping off a month of werewolf movies with a werewolf movie without a werewolf.... if that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense then, well, wait until you see WOLF GUY (1975). To describe this werewolf kung-fu superhero spy flick is folly. Much like werewolfism itself, you just have to let the movie take you over. Which is exactly what we do on tonight’s episode with returning special guest, Dan Fleming, of the Potato League Podcast. So grab your pocket mouse (not a euphemism), sharpen your tiger’s claws, and cuddle up next to your favorite enraged lycanthrope as you fall through the trap door of insanity that is WOLF GUY!! Video Monsters is brought to you by the Chattanooga Film Festival and Central Cinema in Knoxville, TN. Follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, or online at chattfilmfest.org and centralcinema865.com. Links for each of these can also be found on our pages, so be sure to follow us at videomonsterpod on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as well. music for Video Monsters by Evan Simmons

For this October horror episode, we get into some werewolf shenanigans by talking about screen adaptations of manga legend Kazumasa Hirai's strange Wolf Guy franchise. First up, we have Toho's 1973 film, Horror of the Wolf, directed by Masashi Matsumoto and co-written by Godzilla veteran Jun Fukuda. Next up, we discuss Toei's 1975 Wolf Guy, starring Sonny Chiba as an older version of the character. Then we follow it up with JC Staff's six part anime series. The world of Wolf Guy a bonkers one full of murder, rape, gore, martial arts, questionable romances, and overall sleazy exploitation. But first we discuss the first trailer for Godzilla: Singular Point and our first look at Pacific Rim: The Black. Tune in and join the conversation!
We're 10 episodes in, and it only took us literal YEARS! We're discussing the shows and movies we watched when the world shutdown and we had nothing but free time (at least the ones we remember).
WOLFGUY, the only survivor of a clan of werewolves who relies on his feral, full-moon-activated superpowers to solve mysterious crimes. One night, a bizarre and bloody death in the Tokyo streets plunges him into a far-reaching conspiracy populated by crooked politicians, naked white women, bit-players like Hideo Murota, a phantom tiger, and -- best of all -- a shadowy organization.
These are the movies I will talk about in this episode. Abbey Grace (2017), Blood (1973), Blood on the Reel (2016), Craze (1974), Curse of the Headless Horseman (1972), Dead Sushi (2012), Doll Killer (2013), Hollow Gate (1988), Insect (1987), Lake Nowhere (2014), Point Pleasant (2011), Time Sweep (1987) and Wolf Guy (1975)

Also known as Wolf Guy: Enraged Lycanthrope, this movie to me embodies ideal greasy 70s cinema. We watched it and now we're going to talk about it. This week we're taking a trip to Brightburn to discuss what would happen if Superman, err, some completely unrelated kid, went to the dark side. Running Time: 1:42:05 Topics NINETEEN EIGHTY-WOLF, our three-part sequence where we discuss three werewolf (or wolf-related) films that all came out in 1981, has ended and we are here to play you out with one last werewolf (not really though) film by the name of Wolf Guy:
Wolf Guy is an old movie from a land far, far away that has a bunch of naked ladies, gore, and Sonny Chiba. Todd can't keep up with Jason's selection this episode because there really is too much talking to do while trying to read subtitles, but no matter. Politics, Ridley Scott movies, and weird stories abound, so the movie doesn't make a damn bit of difference.
The DIAG crew was bamboozled into watching christian propaganda horror film Tsunambee, and while that went down a pizza boy afraid of knocking on doors was thrown into the mix. Robin and Scotty talk about Arrow Home Video's release of 1970s Japanese kung fu movie Wolf Guy featuring Sonny Chiba and his romper. Discussion abounds on why Scott thinks Blade 2 is better than Van Helsing, getting shot at a strip club while dressed as Jared Leto Joker, and how Rigby has played over 58 hours of Yakuza 0. The crew does a little Netflix and chill and talks about Castlevania, My Online Bride, and why Extraordinary: The Stan Romanek Story is a wonderful documentary about mental illness. The episode rounds out with some genre news, and an all new Whole Hog in which the girls talk about what Sam Raimi's packing downstairs.
