Constant Truth in a Changing World
Contentment is not automatic - it must be learned. Contentment comes from within, not from external circumstances.Worry and anxiety are destructive. The alternative is prayer - coming to God with worship, requests, thanksgiving. This results in God's peace guarding our hearts and minds.Life has ups and downs. Our strength comes from Christ living within us, not the situation.Focus on what you have, not what you lack. Have an attitude of gratitude.God promises to meet our needs - He knows what we truly need more than we do. Trust Him.True contentment is found in Christ and His Word, not possessions, money or status. We must make the choice to seek Him.The main message seems to be that contentment is available to believers who turn to God in prayer instead of worrying, rely on Christ's strength, focus on blessings rather than lack, and trust God to meet their needs. The key is an inner attitude of peace and gratitude in Christ. Here are a few key points from the sermon:· As Christians, we have dual citizenship - temporary on earth, eternal in heaven. We become citizens of heaven when we trust in Christ alone for salvation.· Citizens of heaven should live differently than the world:1. Follow godly examples, not ungodly ones. Be a godly mentor for others.2. Embrace the message of the cross - be dead to self and the world. Live for Christ and eternal things.3. Live in anticipation of Christ's return. Be ready at any moment for Him to come back and transform us into sinless, heavenly bodies.· The sermon encourages us to align our priorities and live like citizens of heaven while we are still on earth. We should make a positive, eternal impact each day.In summary, the main idea is that as Christians, we have an eternal citizenship in heaven that should affect how we live each day on earth. We are called to follow godly examples, embrace the cross, and live in anticipation of Christ's return. Philippians 3:20, But our citizenship is in heaven, from where also we await for our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, Freedom MinistriesLearn more about Pastor Larry here.Support the Podcast If you like the show, please rate and review it on iTunes or wherever you subscribe, and tell a friend or family member about the show.Contact Pastor Larry here

Here are a few key points from the sermon:Faithful people can be trusted by God and others. They have proven character and do what they say they will do.Faithful people place the cause of Christ above their own self-interests. They keep the big picture in mind rather than getting caught up in their own agenda.Faithful people are willing to do even basic, menial tasks in service to others and to further God's work. They have a servant's heart.Faithful people are not consumed only with their own problems but are concerned about how their actions affect others.Faithful people do whatever it takes to fulfill their responsibilities and get the job done, even at personal risk or sacrifice.Jesus Christ is the ultimate example of faithfulness - He gave His very life to accomplish God's plan of salvation.God honors and preserves the faithful, as seen in the life of Epaphroditus who was raised up from illness after his faithful service. The sermon emphasizes that faithfulness is one of the most important virtues we can cultivate as followers of Christ. It brings value and validity to everything else we do in serving God and others. Philippians 2:1-3, If there is any encouragement in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any compassion and mercy, 2 then fulfill my joy and be like-minded, having the same love, being in unity with one mind. 3 Let nothing be done out of strife or conceit, but in humility let each esteem the other better than himself.Unity in the church is vital. Disunity and division destroy churches from within. Even a few contentious people can fracture a congregation. There are two keys to maintaining unity and avoiding division in the church:Never forget the blessings all believers share in Christ - the encouragement, love, fellowship, compassion, and mercy we have all received from God. Since God has shown such grace to us, we must extend that same grace to others.Maintain an attitude of humility, esteeming others above yourself. Pride and self-importance fracture relationships. Recognizing our own sinfulness promotes humility and compassion for others.Humble people who remember God's mercy are willing to forgive and show grace to others. This fosters unity.Staying united as a church enables us to stand firm and accomplish God's work. But division causes the church to crumble and fall. Unity comes down to how we treat one another.Freedom MinistriesLearn more about Pastor Larry here.Support the Podcast If you like the show, please rate and review it on iTunes or wherever you subscribe, and tell a friend or family member about the show.Contact Pastor Larry here

Your actions should match your beliefs. Be people of integrity, not hypocrisy. When unbelievers see Christ followers living in contradiction to the gospel, it turns them away from the faith.2Serve together as a team. God has made believers one with each other. Strive to maintain unity amidst diversity. Don't allow bitterness, gossip, pride or jealousy to divide you. Keep the main goal in focus - spreading the gospel.3Demonstrate relentless courage in the face of opposition and adversity. Don't be afraid of those who oppose the gospel. View suffering for Christ as a privilege. Take heart knowing you are not alone - others are facing similar battles. Resolve not to quit but to keep fighting the good fight of faith. The church's mission is to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ. This requires unity, consistency between beliefs and actions, courage and determination. Here is a summary of the key points from the document:Paul warns Timothy against becoming spiritually shipwrecked, meaning becoming stranded and experiencing loss and failure in his spiritual life.To avoid spiritual shipwreck, Paul gives three pieces of advice:Hold firm to your faith. Faith is complete confidence in God and His Word. It comes from hearing the Word. Satan wants to undermine faith.Keep a good conscience. Conscience distinguishes right from wrong but must be instructed by God's Word. When truth is ignored, conscience becomes defiled.Rightly divide God's Word. Misunderstanding or misapplying Scripture can lead to false doctrine and spiritual ruin. We must study Scripture carefully.Paul disciplined two men who became shipwrecked by teaching false doctrine about the resurrection. The key is faithfulness - not growing cold or being led astray, but staying anchored to God's truth through faith, a good conscience, and proper handling of Scripture.Freedom MinistriesLearn more about Pastor Larry here.Support the Podcast If you like the show, please rate and review it on iTunes or wherever you subscribe, and tell a friend or family member about the show.Contact Pastor Larry here

Get understanding! Do not forget it, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. 6 Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will keep you. Proverbs 4:7, Wisdom is principal; therefore get wisdom. And with all your getting, get understanding. Wisdom is the captain. It's the most important quality in life. Proverbs 8:11, for wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. Matthew 16:26, For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? How do you come to have peace in your life? It is by receiving wisdom through God's Word. Proverbs 4:10-19, Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, and the years of your life will be many.11 I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths.12 When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, and when you run, you will not stumble.13 Take firm hold of instruction, do not let her go; keep her, for she is your life.14 Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not go in the way of evil men.15 Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and pass on.16 For they do not sleep unless they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away unless they cause some to fall.17 For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shines more and more unto the perfect day.19 The way of the wicked is as darkness; they do not know at what they stumble. As a motivation, Solomon tells his son about the path that is right before him. Pay attention to what is right in front of you. We can think, at times, we are on the right path, yet find ourselves stumbling along life. We may need to recalibrate our life and bring God and His Word closer to us and thirst for His wisdom and not those around us. God gives us guidance. The path of the wicked is controlled by the evil. Our lives must be controlled by the Word of God. Proverbs 4:18, But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shines more and more unto the perfect day. Salvation is available to all through simple faith in Jesus Christ. It's not attained by self-effort or good works.God has entrusted the gospel message to believers, expecting them to share it with others and bear fruit.God enables all believers to share the gospel, through the power of the Holy Spirit within them.Every believer has a testimony of how God saved them and changed their life. This personal story can impact others.Paul stands as an example that God can save and use anyone to further His kingdom. No one is beyond the reach of God's grace. The sermon encourages believers to share their faith and testimony with others, allowing God to use them to reach people for salvation in Jesus Christ. It emphasizes that God desires to use every believer in this way if they make themselves available.Freedom MinistriesLearn more about Pastor Larry here.Support the Podcast If you like the show, please rate and review it on iTunes or wherever you subscribe, and tell a friend or family member about the show.Contact Pastor Larry here

Finding the Right Hope in Christ Alone1 Timothy 1:1-3Do you know fellow believers who are not of your physical family, but they're just like family? Isn't this awesome? There is a reason for that. Ephesians 4:16 & 1 Corinthians 12:12-27. This book of 1 Timothy is written out of a relationship like that. vs. 2Paul deals with this issue of hope in the very first verse of the book. The word “hope” means “anticipation; expectation; confidence.” It's not a wishy-washy, maybe so, probably so type of thing. It is a steadfast confidence. If your hope today lies in your job, your money, your house, your stocks and bonds, your religion, or your relationships, you are on a shaky foundation. Christ is your hope. Why is finding the right hope only found in Christ alone?First, Christ alone is Savior. The word “Savior” means “deliverer.” What do we need to be saved from? The Bible is clear. We need to be saved from our sins and the destruction that will come to this present evil world from the hand of God. Galatians 1:4Did you know Christ desires to be your Savior? He alone is Savior because He alone was God in the flesh, dying for our sins.Christ alone is Savior because He is the only One that abolished death. When Christ appeared, it was a wonderful day for this world. There was now hope, a way to be eternally delivered from death, a way to escape it, and a way to overcome it. 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10Why is finding the right hope only found in Christ alone?Second, Christ alone is Lord.Notice in verse 1 that Paul refers to Jesus as “Lord Jesus Christ.” Again in verse 2, he refers to him as “Jesus Christ our Lord.” The term “Lord”means “absolute authority.” cf. 6:15Jesus is called the “only Potentate [ruler]” and “Lord of lords.”Why is finding the right hope only found in Christ alone?Third, Christ alone can reconcile sinners. As we said, Christ alone is Savior. It is Jesus Christ that saves sinners. vs. 15How can that gap be bridged? We desperately need somebody who can mediate and bring peace with God for human beings that are sinners. There is now a way to find grace, mercy, and peace with God. If you have trusted Christ as your Savior, do you know what happened the moment you got saved? You received:Grace – You became an object of God's favor by faith in Christ alone.Mercy – You were released from the sentence of judgment you deserved.Peace – You were brought into a position of complete peace with God.Only Jesus Christ could do this for you. That is why Christ alone is our hope. I believe that most would describe the church that they attend as a good church, wouldn't you agree? But would you say it is a perfect church? No, I am sure we would agree on that too. Why? There is no such thing as a perfect church, and do you know why there are no perfect churches? Because there are no perfect people, and people are what lead and compose a church! If you have people, then there will be problems. That's just a fact. There are some churches that are doing a great work, and the Apostle Paul mentions one in 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 - We give thanks to God always for you all, mentioning you in our prayers, 3 remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patient hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of God and our Father. Charles Spurgeon said, "The doorstep to the temple of wisdom is a knowledge of our own ignorance." Solomon, who is writing here in Proverbs 2, must have had a similar thought in mind when he begins to instruct his son regarding the wisdom that he needed for life.We tend to be satisfied to do whatever we think or feel is right for the moment and, at times, never seek out the wisdom of God or what He thinks. The verses in this chapter are filled with 8 imperatives that describe the importance of getting all the wisdom that you can get. We are to receive, hide, incline, apply, cry after, lift up the voice, seek for, and search after the wisdom of God.Synonymous with wisdom is Christ and the Word of God. Solomon, who is writing here in Proverbs 2, must have had a similar thought in mind when he begins to instruct his son regarding the wisdom that he needed for life.We tend to be satisfied to do whatever we think or feel is right for the moment and, at times, never seek out the wisdom of God or what He thinks. The Bible in Proverbs 1:20-33 talks about someone who is simple, foolish, and who is a scorner. What do these terms mean and what can we learn from it? By the way, these are not a good description of any person, especially those who identify as a Christian. Why do we need wisdom and what does it do for us? What if you or I decide we are going to do things our own way, make our own decisions without God, or we choose to live apart from His truth from His Word? What are the consequences to living independently from God? In this study we will learn that there are consequences, but you don't have to experience them or wait until the outcome is bad to start making godly choices and decisions now.Freedom MinistriesLearn more about Pastor Larry here.Support the Podcast If you like the show, please rate and review it on iTunes or wherever you subscribe, and tell a friend or family member about the show.Contact Pastor Larry here

There are some examples of great churches in God's Word. One of those was the church in which Paul had his first public ministry, the church at Antioch. The church that you are in and that I pastor, is it a good church or a GREAT church? Let's look into God's Word and learn what a GREAT church does and looks like. What were the characteristics that made the church at Antioch a GREAT church? Solomon explains the levels of influence in life for his son here in this text of Proverbs 1:10-23. The greatest influence or best influence we can have in our lives is of course, the Lord. It is important to realize that we never outgrow peer pressure. Even as adults your friendships will have a tremendous effect on your life spiritually.Temptation is common to every person. We are going to be tempted by the world, the flesh, and the devil to violate the Word of God. Yet, God has promised us a way out of all the temptations that we face.1 Cor. 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you, but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”James 1:12 “Blessed is the man that endures temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love Him.”When we have a greater insight and understanding of the temptation that we face in life we will have more ability and strength to resist the temptation. In this study, we will discover how we can say no to the voice of temptation.Freedom MinistriesLearn more about Pastor Larry here.Support the Podcast If you like the show, please rate and review it on iTunes or wherever you subscribe, and tell a friend or family member about the show.Contact Pastor Larry here

We all at times can make excuses, can't we? Have you ever made an excuse that while may have not been the exact story, you used it to get out of doing something or to avoid taking responsible for something? I have, not my best move to say the least. We all probably could say yes to that. Jeremiah had some excuses to when God called him to be a prophet to the nations. To say the least, he had a few, yet God had a promise for every excuse that Jeremiah came up with.Let's look into God's Word together and learn how to not only stop the excuses but also become the person that God wants us to be and will equip us to be.Freedom MinistriesLearn more about Pastor Larry here.Support the Podcast If you like the show, please rate and review it on iTunes or wherever you subscribe, and tell a friend or family member about the show.Contact Pastor Larry here

When you study the teaching of the Lord Jesus on the vine and branches, you realize that there is a great deal to the Christian life and yet the fruitfulness of the Christian life isn't always pleasant nor does it some easy or natural. Growing spiritually comes through God molding, shaping, and pruning us. Any good gardener knows that beautiful roses require careful pruning. Pieces of a living plant have to die. A rose that will bloom into something of beauty cannot just grow wild. In order for the proper nutrients not to be starved out or hindered in getting to the needed places for maximizing the plant, tree, or branch's potential, some pruning must be done, or the needed growth will never take place. And so it is in our life spiritually as well. Join me in this study out of John 15 as we learn the purpose, process, and principles that are associated with Christ at work in our lives.Freedom MinistriesLearn more about Pastor Larry here.Support the Podcast If you like the show, please rate and review it on iTunes or wherever you subscribe, and tell a friend or family member about the show.Contact Pastor Larry here
