Sunday was Christ the King (or Reign of Christ) Sunday. It was the last Sunday of the church calendar year.People expect a king to have power. But Jesus had no power on the cross. What we saw was faithfulness. Jesus' faithfulness released God's power. We are saved by his faithfulness.By Rev. In Kee Kim
On this Reign of Christ Sunday, we explore the political and spiritual tension surrounding the Messiah. The prophet Jeremiah pronounces "Woe" to the bad shepherds (the corrupt kings of Judah) and promises a "Righteous Branch" (Jeremiah 23:1-6).But the King who arrived defied all expectations: where people expected a Sword, they received a Towel; where they expected Vengeance, they found Mercy. This sermon challenges us to recognize that Christ's reign is not a political victory confirming our own biases, but a shocking act of God's radical, universal grace. How do we make room for such unwelcome mercy in our hearts?Watch the full worship service: https://youtu.be/t4xZtdpzmL8Learn more about us: www.youngunitedchurch.com

This morning, we gather at the culmination of the church year as we celebrate Reign of Christ Sunday. As we look back over the movement of our liturgical year, we'll reflect on how we live and move in the world in light of God's promises. The words of the prophet Jeremiah lead us to consider what it means to trust and work toward God's kingdom in all we do. Sermon on Jeremiah 23:1-6, delivered by the Reverend Mary Newberg Gale on November 23rd, 2025.
United Protestant, Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Anglican, Moravian, Methodist, Nazarene, Reformed, and Western Rite parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church outside Russia, celebrate the Feast of Christ the King. Observed as the last Sunday of the Liturgical year before the First Sunday of Advent, The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, commonly referred to as the Feast of Christ the King, Christ the King Sunday or Reign of Christ Sunday, is a feast which emphasises the true kingship of Christ the King, referred to in Key New Testament passages including the book of Revelation, which names Jesus as "KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS." On this Thanksgiving and Reign of Christ Sunday, we turn to Isaiah's breathtaking vision of a world made new — a world where joy overflows, children thrive, elders flourish, and peace is not imagined but lived. In a time when many of us feel weary, scattered, or discouraged, this sermon invites us to see gratitude not as sentiment, but as spiritual resistance — a way of proclaiming that despair will not have the final word. Standing on the threshold of Advent, we explore how God is already planting seeds of new creation in the midst of our uncertainty, and how practicing gratitude helps us join Christ in building a world of justice, compassion, abundance, and joy.
Investing in Hope – Today is “Reign of Christ Sunday” when we acknowledge and celebrate the centrality of God and Jesus as the overarching focus of our faith. Also today we are ending our series of readings and sermons based on the Book of Jeremiah. Today's passage from Jeremiah is quite odd and surprising. Jerusalem is about to be conquered by the Babylonians, and they know that's coming because of the Babylonian troops that are amassed close to the city. Jeremiah is in custody, placed there by King Josiah because of Jeremiah's frequent and urgent criticisms of the king and the people. But in this passage, Jeremiah is instructed by God to buy a plot of farmland in Anathoth, just outside Jerusalem, and he does so in a very public manner. That action goes against all reason because it is clear that inevitably and soon Jerusalem will be conquered and burned. Yet through this purchase Jeremiah and God make a statement that one day God will restore the people and the kingdom, and thus hope is not lost at all. We, too, are encouraged to have hope in God and in the Reign of Christ no matter our circumstance. And we are encouraged to share that hope with others.

Join us for Episode 4209 of the Day1 Radio Show and Podcast, featuring the Rev. Dr. Luke Powery, Dean of Duke University Chapel and Associate Professor of Homiletics at Duke Divinity School. In his sermon “Criminal Christ,” based on Luke 23:33-43, Dr. Powery reflects on Jesus as the criminalized Christ—the God who suffers with humanity and offers second chances through love. As we celebrate Reign of Christ Sunday, this message invites us to rediscover God's mercy and presence among the marginalized.
Year C, Proper 29, Twenty-fourth Sunday After PentecostReign of Christ Sunday
Reign of Christ Sunday, or sometimes called Christ the King Sunday, ends the liturgical year. It asks who is ultimately in charge and worth worshipping. But to know that God is in charge and to act like it is much easier said than done. Jonathan and Seth discuss the challenge of the phrase, "Be still, and know that I am God!" (Psalm 46:10) and what a faithful stillness might look like in our hurried, news-flooded world. Since this Sunday closes the liturgical year, the discussion seems like a fitting recap of much of their discussion this year. We're glad you're with us! We hope you'll join us for liturgical year A that takes us to Matthew.

The Called of Jesus Christ - Sunday Morning Service - April 6, 2025 - Pastor James
A message preached at Crossroads Baptist Church by Pastor Josh Williams on Sunday morning
Speaker: Sr. Pastor Richard ParksScripture: Matthew 16:13-17Objective: The sermon highlights how the Pharisees and Sadducees doubted Jesus as the Messiah, demanding miracles, but he only offered the “sign of Jonah,” pointing to his death and resurrection.Jesus strengthened his disciples' faith, contrasting their beliefs with others, like the Greeks, who saw the cross as weakness. The message urges believers to stand firm, resist worldly doubts, and grow in faith through scripture, just as Jesus taught his disciples.
Pastor JD explains how that first the world is deceived by the antichrist, which in turn brings about the salvation of multitudes in Jesus Christ.Prophecy Update Links All referenced links are at http://jdfarag.orgSocial MediaProphecy Website: http://jdfarag.orgMobile/TV Apps: https://subsplash.com/calvarychapelkaneohe/appChurch Website: http://www.calvarychapelkaneohe.com/Twitter: https://twitter.com/JDFarag/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/JDFarag/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/JDFarag/

Breaking Generational Curses: Walking in the Freedom of Christ • Sunday Service Website: www.PastorTodd.org To Give: www.ToddCoconato.com/give Today, we're addressing a topic that many believers struggle to understand—generational curses. The Bible speaks of how sin and its consequences can affect families and communities, sometimes for generations. But it also declares that in Christ, we are set free from all curses, including those passed down through our bloodline. However, we must not only receive that freedom but walk in it daily. Generational curses may manifest in repeated patterns of addiction, anger, fear, sickness, or poverty. But the good news is that Jesus Christ has broken the power of sin and death, offering us new life. The purpose of this message is to bring clarity, hope, and practical steps to live in the victory that is already ours through Christ. 1. The Reality of Generational Curses Exodus 20:5-6 “You shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.” 2. Personal Accountability Before God Ezekiel 18:20 “The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.” 3. Christ Has Redeemed Us from the Curse Galatians 3:13 “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree').” 4. Becoming a New Creation 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 5. The Freedom of the Spirit Romans 8:1-2 “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” 6. Renewing the Mind Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” 7. Authority to Bind and Loose Matthew 18:18 “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” 8. Overcoming Through Prayer and Repentance 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 9. Declaring the Enemy Defeated Colossians 2:14-15 “Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.” 10. The Promise of Generational Blessing Deuteronomy 7:9 “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.” Conclusion: Walk in Freedom In Christ, you are free from every curse, but it's essential to walk in that freedom. Renounce any ties to generational sin, declare the victory of the cross, and align your life with God's Word. As you do this, you'll not only break the patterns of the past but release blessings for future generations.

He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” Ephesians 4:15-16 “…but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.” James 1:2-4 “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” Colossians 2:6-7 “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.”

Hannah and her husband, Elkanah, have one of the few healthy marriages described in the Hebrew Bible. When she mourns her inability to have children, he asks, "Am I not more to you than ten sons?" (1 Sam. 1:8). No, unfortunately. In the following verse, Hannah goes to the temple to pray for a child. While children are infrequently named in the biblical text, the desire for a child occurs often. So, Jonathan and Seth talk about children in the ancient world and whether this desire for children extends to today. They talk about whether they want to have children, the different ways of being a parent, and the pressure sometimes put on young people to have a child. We're glad you're with us! You may skip this episode if having a child is an emotional topic; we will not be offended and encourage you to care for yourself. Next week, there will be another episode on Reign of Christ Sunday.
