I don't end many podcasts by inviting someone to come hang out at the farm, but this was one of those conversations. In this episode, I sit down with Patrick Engasser, a bestselling author, speaker, and coach who's built and led a seven-figure sales team…all while being blind since birth.  This isn't a “feel good” story. This is a wake-up call. We talk about what it actually takes to succeed when the odds aren't in your favor, how to stay aware of opportunities most people completely miss, and why building the right systems is the difference between being stuck and having real freedom. Patrick also shares powerful perspective shifts around adversity- how the very thing you think is holding you back might actually be your greatest advantage. And yeah…we even get into guide dogs.  If you've been waiting for the “right time” or better circumstances… this episode will challenge that hard.   Find Patrick at www.TalkwithPatrick.com  If I Can Do It, You Can Do It!: Inspiration for Eliminating Excuses, Overcoming Challenges, and Succeeding in Business and Life by Patrick Engasser https://amzn.to/4cIg1VH    Things mentioned in the show: 10X is Easier than 2X by Dan Sullivan https://amzn.to/4mErRok  4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss https://amzn.to/4cB3XFF  The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey https://amzn.to/489fc72  Goals: How to Get the Most Out of Your Life by Zig Ziglar https://amzn.to/4twO7mY  The Power of Intention by Wayne Dyer https://amzn.to/4cX7rUk    --- Click here to change your life- http://eepurl.com/gy5T3T   Hit me up for a one-on-one brainstorming session- https://militaryimagesproject.com/products/brainstorming-session-1-hour    Check out my Linktree for different ways to rock your world! https://linktr.ee/ruggeddad    Check out the sweet Hyper X mic I'm using. https://amzn.to/41AF4px    Check out my best-selling books: Rapid Skill Development 101- https://amzn.to/3J0oDJ0 Streams of Income with Ryan Reger- https://amzn.to/3SDhDHg Strangest Secret Challenge- https://amzn.to/3xiJmVO This page contains affiliate links. What does it really mean to “have it all”?For many ambitious women, the phrase has started to feel more like pressure than possibility. We're expected to excel professionally, be deeply present at home, care for our communities, and somehow still maintain our own well-being.It's no wonder so many women feel overwhelmed. In this episode of The Well Woman Show, economist and Wharton professor Dr. Corinne Low joins us to unpack the realities behind the myth of having it all. Drawing from research and her bestselling book Having It All, she shares practical ways women can rethink priorities, design careers across different life stages, and make choices aligned with their values. But this conversation isn't only for individuals. For listeners who lead organizations, teams, or businesses, Dr. Low also shares important insights about how workplace structures can support — or undermine — women's ability to thrive. When we look at the data, one thing becomes clear: thriving isn't just about personal resilience. It's also about creating systems that support real lives. In this episode, you'll discover:Why you feel more overwhelmed than ever — and why it's not your faultThe concept of a “utility function” and how it helps clarify what matters mostWhy radical prioritization can create more ease and reduce burnoutHow comparison can disconnect us from self-trustWhy letting go of certain things isn't failure — it's a strategyHow community can lighten the load in ways no productivity hack ever willWhat employers and leaders can do to create workplaces where people can thriveThis episode is a practical, grounding reminder that you don't have to do it all — you just have to do what's most yours.✨ Ease in giving yourself permission to let go of what isn't working, in making decisions from clarity instead of guilt, and in knowing that leading your life with less friction is not laziness, it's wisdom✨ Joy in watching your relationships blossom when you finally put your own oxygen mask on first and in discovering that joy is not a reward for getting everything done, it's the foundation that makes everything else possible✨ Impact in creating workplaces where women don't have to choose—and in knowing that when you thrive, everyone around you feels it✨ Self-trust. Dr. Low's utility function model is ultimately a tool for coming home to yourself. When you stop measuring your life against someone else's and start listening to your own values, you already know what the next right step is.This episode is part of our 10th anniversary celebration of The Well Woman Show. For decades, women were told that if they wanted equality, they needed to lean in harder. Work more. Organize better. Choose better partners. Be more efficient. And yet, here we are. More educated than ever. More present in the workforce than ever. And somehow… more exhausted. My guest today says this isn't a contradiction. It's a data point. Dr. Corinne Low is a Wharton professor and an economist. She is the author of the new book, Having it All: What Data Tells Us About Women's Lives and Getting the Most Out of Yours. She has spent the last 15 years studying how women actually live — how we work, how we partner, how we parent, and how we divide time and labor inside our homes. And what her research shows is uncomfortable: while women's careers have evolved dramatically, the structure of marriage and household labor has barely changed since the 1970s.In this conversation, Corinne walks us through the data behind why modern women are so tired, why the mental load remains stubbornly unequal, and why cooking, cleaning, caregiving, and the invisible work of running a household still fall disproportionately on women — regardless of who brings home the bigger paycheck. We talk about why “fair” isn't always the right goal — and why sustainability, nourishment, and evidence-based decision making matter more. We dig into outsourcing, why women undervalue their time, and why we're far more comfortable paying someone to change the oil than paying someone to make dinner. And then there's Corinne's personal story, one that the media turned into a headline, but rarely explained well. After divorcing a man, Corinne remarried a woman. And in doing so, she experienced something unexpected: when gender stopped silently organizing the household, equality no longer had to be negotiated; it could be designed. We talk candidly about what same-sex couples get right about partnership, what heterosexual couples can learn from that, and why true equality at home requires interrogating defaults — not just dividing tasks. We also get into the bigger questions women are asking right now: when to have children, how motherhood reshapes careers, why women still take the professional hit for caregiving, and how AI and economic change may actually make women's labor more — not less — essential in the future. You don't realize how much you've been carrying until someone quietly names it: Why am I so tired? In this A Fresh Story: Book Talk episode, Olivia sits down with economist and author Dr. Corinne Low, whose book Having It All: What Data Tells Us About Women's Lives and Getting the Most Out of Yours reads like a mirror held up to modern womanhood. Between the groceries arriving mid-interview, the crying babies on the book cover, and the dinner on fire, Corinne's world looks a lot like ours: a life built on ambition, love, and care—held together by one woman's invisible labor.Having It All weaves together fifteen years of rigorous research with Corinne's own story of becoming the primary breadwinner, default parent, and eventually a divorced single mom who chose to start over. She shows, with hard data, how gender roles have converged at work but stubbornly refused to shift at home; how men are still doing roughly the same amount of housework as they did in the 1970s, while mothers spend twice as much time with their kids as previous generations. Inside the numbers is a deeply human story: the slow realization that the “deal” she was living in was unsustainable, the terror of considering divorce, and the shock of discovering that, afterward, her life actually got easier—less cooking and cleaning, more sleep, more room to breathe. In this conversation, Olivia and Dr. Low talk about treating the household like an enterprise, your joy like a “utility function,” and your life as a story in which you are allowed to be the protagonist. They explore the grief of letting go of a marriage, the healing that comes from finally centering your own needs, and the quiet regeneration that happens when you stop contorting yourself to keep everyone else comfortable. Having It All was written for the woman in a life transition—the burned-out married single mom, the newly divorced mother, the high-achieving professional who can't shake the exhaustion—who needs someone to say: it's not you, it's the system. You are allowed to renegotiate the terms of your life. You are allowed a fresh start.BUY THE BOOK HERE!
