It's like a right of passage - if you're a mom = more mental load to carry. And then when we have things thrust upon us (intentionally or not), we feel guilty for neglecting other things that we think deserve our attention as well. So if we let these things overwhelm us, we lose sight of why we do what we do. Why we work hard. Why we stay at home and raise our kids. Our "why" gets lost when we get lost in all the to dos & all the guilt...Today, I dive into a topic surrounding mom guilt & re-finding your why. Today's episode of RSVP Radio with Brooke takes on a serious topic - eating disorders. I am speaking with fellow fitness enthusiast, Heather Lindamood, about how having a ROUTINE can help move past some triggers. Heather was a Special Education Teacher working with Learning and Behavior Disorders for 14 years. She graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in Exceptional Education with an emphasis in Middle School Language Arts. She also has a masters degree in Teaching and Educational Leadership. She is also a well being coach for a wellness company and a fitness instructor with certifications in PiYo and Barre Above. Her struggle with her health and the spiral into an eating disorder began her senior year of college. She had a huge list of triggers that brought it on and made the battle harder to fight. It took hitting rock bottom with an emotional plea from her grandmother before she decided to actively seek out help after battling for 3 years. It was not an easy recovery and took years of work and finding what worked for her.Having 2 teenage girls makes her even more passionate about sharing with others about how to find better health and balance, that food is not the enemy, and you can enjoy great nutrition and make your body stronger for all that life demands. Here's where you can find out more about Heather:InstagramFacebook WellnessWeekly Meal Theme Ideas for Menu Planning

One of my listeners reached out so I asked her what more I could cover of value to her. She suggested how I am building a business & keeping the balance. So here is what I wish I knew.I have to say I’m NO expert – at all! I am still learning since I’ve only been out on my own for about a year and a half. I immerse myself in books, in certifications, in other podcasts – I truly believe in lifelong learning. If you don’t grow you’re dead! So I started compiling things I wish I knew as I started out on my own#1 – No one is going to believe in your business as much as you do. This one I still struggle with, but it was eye-opening when the lightbulb finally went off. People don’t understand work from home life – they just don’t. I would get so offended when others didn’t think I was busy working or didn’t value my time. Thing is – I can’t change them, but I could change my attitude. #2 – Please know – balance isn’t a thing… #3 – Once you get to a tipping point, OUTSOURCE. As type A #1, I want to control everything. I felt as though I was do a disservice to my clients by hiring outside help. That no one could do it but me. But the thing is my time is MONEY – literally, my time is my product. So by outsourcing I was able to get time back in my day to focus on the important pieces/larger vision of my business.
