May 9, 2013. Bowling Green, Ohio. The body of 66-year old Dawn Glanz, a retired art professor from Bowling Green State University, is discovered inside her bathroom by her husband, Bob Brown, and the authorities initially believe that she suffered a fatal stroke and died of natural causes. However, before Dawn's body can be cremated, police receive an anonymous tip expressing concern that Bob may have killed Dawn in order to inherit her $2 million estate and a new autopsy reveals that she received a stab wound to the head and the shock caused her to succumb to a heart attack. After Dawn's death is reclassified as a homicide, investigators uncover some troubling holes in Bob's original story, but there is not enough evidence to file charges and her murder officially remains unsolved.  November 22, 2009. Bowling Green, Kentucky. 54-year old Bettina Richmond, a mathematics professor at Western Kentucky University, leaves her home to play racquetball at the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation facility. When she fails to return home, Bettina's husband goes to check the facility's parking lot and discovers that Bettina has been fatally stabbed in the driver's seat of her van. Bettina's university identification badge is later found in a mailbox over two miles away and it is suspected that she was the victim of a robbery gone wrong, but no potential suspects are found for her murder.  On this week's episode of the “Trail Went Cold”, we explore a pair of unsolved murders involving female university professors from Bowling Green in both Ohio and Kentucky. Harlee Heath found strength and conditioning the way a lot of great coaches do. Not from a plan, but from a moment. A female strength coach walked into her exercise science class at the University of Central Arkansas, described the job, and that was it. Harlee walked up after class and said she wanted to intern. Two years later she was leading women's tennis on her own and traveling with the football team. Now finishing her second year as a Graduate Assistant at Western Kentucky University, Harlee has coached cheer, dance, men's basketball, and baseball. She went from eight tennis athletes to over 120 cheer and dance athletes in her first week as a GA, coaching on the floor by herself from day one because her mentor D-Hall believed the only way to grow is to do the work. That philosophy runs through every part of this conversation. This episode covers what the GA grind really looks like, how to earn trust before you have a title, what it means to be a female in a field that is still overwhelmingly male, and why networking is the most underutilized skill in early-career strength coaching.Key Takeaways• Passion and work ethic separate good interns from great ones. Being first in, last out, and doing things without being asked is what gets coaches noticed.• Dedicated attention to one team builds deeper buy-in. Athletes notice when someone shows up just for them rather than splitting time across multiple sports.• Coaching diverse populations forces you to expand your coaching vocabulary. When verbal cues alone do not work, you become a sharper communicator.• Networking is active work. Following up, visiting other programs, and staying in touch matters more than any resume or application.• Great mentors let you fail. The mistakes you make yourself are the ones you never forget. Being corrected before the mistake happens does not stick the same way.• Female strength coaches bring a unique connection to female athletes. Trust and buy-in can come faster when the relationship is peer to peer.Featured Quote"I told them I am going to train you like real athletes. If that means we are going to Olympic lift, squat heavy, deadlift heavy, bench heavy, that is what we are going to do. As soon as I said that, the buy-in was nearly immediate."— Harlee Heath, Graduate Assistant Strength Coach, Western Kentucky University

Kentucky's war on woke is far from over—our public universities are openly defying the law!I talk with Adam Guillette from Accuracy In Media (AIM) to break down their recent explosive undercover investigations that have exposed Western Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky. Hidden cameras caught staff admitting DEI is still alive and embedded in curricula—rebranded, hidden, and funded by YOUR tax dollars—in direct violation of Kentucky's ban.We dive into the MOST RECENT video: AIM's undercover footage from Western Kentucky University (WKU), where an admin casually admits they're still forcing "anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion" down students' throats using an accreditation loophole. They think we're too dumb to notice. Why does stopping these DEI policies matter? Because DEI lowers standards, discriminates against qualified Kentuckians based on race or sex, wastes millions in taxpayer money, and drags down academic excellence for EVERYONE.Plus: SB 199 lets chemical manufacturers hide real risks behind EPA-approved labels. There, an eighth-grade camp visit, multiple family connections, and a powerful student ambassador experience as a “Spirit Master” opened his eyes to advancement and the power of donor relationships. He describes starting his career in admissions at Lindsay Wilson College, where the president reminded him that 75% of the institution's income came through his office. As a twenty-two-year-old “green as grass,” he learned relationship-based recruitment, drove hours to personally pick up prospective students for campus visits, and spent long evenings on the phone—lessons in resilience, fit, and mission that still shape his work.Karl then moves from admissions to development, back to his alma mater for major gifts, into a ten-year run at UT Austin, and later into consulting with BWF, which he calls his “PhD work in the field.” Today, at UTSA, he leads advancement and alumni engagement for a growing, research-intensive, Hispanic serving institution focused on access, success, and transformational impact in San Antonio and beyond.

What does it take to turn a love of music into a thriving band, and why do some artists find their truest path only when they let go of what they thought they wanted? On this episode of Bringin' it Backwards, Adam sits down with Oliver Pierce and Isaac Midleton from New Translations—a rising Nashville band whose journey defies convention and expectations. Oliver grew up in Kentucky, Isaac in Chihuahua, Mexico (where he met bandmate Ben), but fate brought them together on orientation day at Western Kentucky University. Both came from religious upbringings and backgrounds in musical theater, yet found themselves craving the creative freedom and authenticity that only music could offer. What started out as late-night writing sessions and long drives for studio time quickly turned into a bold leap—moving to Nashville alongside their bandmates, with zero industry connections and only a shared passion guiding the way. In this conversation, you'll hear how New Translations crafted their unique live show, what it was like to literally build their fan base from “20 people in Atlanta” to selling out Nashville's legendary venues, and the lessons learned from letting go of tightly held concepts in their songwriting. They open up about the challenges and victories of playing shows across the country, their distinctive approach to blending shoegaze and dance music, and why community matters more than the latest TikTok hit. Whether you're just starting your own music journey or fascinated by what it really takes to build a band from scratch, this episode is packed with honest advice and inside stories that don't usually make it to the stage. Listen in to hear New Translations' story—and don't forget to subscribe to Bringin' it Backwards for more candid conversations with legendary and rising artists.

Episode Notes Through her teaching and broadcasting contributions, this week's very special guest has certainly made her mark on the campus of Western Kentucky University! She is Dr. Erika Brady, who spent over three decades serving as a professor in WKU's Department of Folk Studies and Anthropology. Erika is also the long-time host and producer of "Barren River Breakdown", a show featuring a wide range of folk and bluegrass music, heard weekends on WKU Public Radio. Come along as Dr. Brady describes her inspiring educational pursuits, including a degree from HARVARD, and explains how she ultimately found her way to Bowling Green. She also reflects on a few of the courses she taught, details the labor of love invested in each episode of "Barren River Breakdown", and discusses the creative means by which she remains active in her retirement years. After listening to our conversation, I think you'll agree there isn't a whole lot that Dr. Brady hasn't at least attempted! Jennifer [00:00:00]: Hi, welcome back to the podcast. I'm Jennifer. Ashlee [00:00:03]: And I'm Ashlee. Jennifer [00:00:04]: And I get to introduce our guest today. And as always, we have a special guest. And I was reflecting. I'm like, I actually think I've known this guest since I've been born and I'm not related to them. So it's the first time for that. But we have Dr. Charles Baker with us today and I'm just going to give it to you, Dr. Baker, to tell us a little bit about yourself. Dr. Charles Baker [00:00:23]: First of all, thanks for having me and hope I can add something to your podcast here from my background and experiences. Well, I'm originally from Louisville, Kentucky. Grew up here, went to high school here and began college here. I went to Western Kentucky University for a year right out of high school. And that's a little bit relevant to My first real job was on the Louisville Police Department. Today it's the Louisville Metro Police Department. Back in the day, it was the city of Louisville. It's I began my work there in January 8th of 1973. Jennifer [00:00:57]: Okay. Dr. Charles Baker [00:00:58]: After having one year of college at Western Kentucky, I went to Western out of high school with the goal of being a high school teacher and a coach. But a good friend of my father's was a Louisville police officer and they were in a hiring spree at that time and he encouraged me. So I went down, took the test, and before I knew it, I was in recruit school in January at 70. And that was not my plan. But once I got there, I really super enjoyed it and began my career there. We can get into that later and a lot of it's relevant to what I do today, but I had a lot of assignments during my time there, enjoyed every bit of it. So anyway, I got sidetracked for several years with the Louisville Police Department. And like I said, I had one year of college there while I was on the department. Dr. Charles Baker [00:01:47]: The training officers that I had at that time encouraged me to continue to go to college. And we had a federal grant, the leap money that came out of the late 60s, federal grant to pay for college. So I enrolled at the University of Louisville part time while I was working. And it was those original trainers that I had that encouraged me to do that. And I'm always grateful for the department for allowing me to do that and actually paying for it. It was a challenge to go full time to work full time and go to get your degree. But I ended up with my master's degree because of the police. But I did 20 years there, worked in a variety of assignments But I retired when I had my 20 years in and it was, I didn't leave because I disliked the job. Dr. Charles Baker [00:02:32]: I really enjoyed it. But I was young enough to do something else in life and allowed me to go back and do what I originally wanted to do, be a high school. During that career time, I also went back to school to get my high school teaching certification. So when I retired from the police department, I could teach social studies in high school, Kentucky certification. And I got a job teaching at, actually the high school that I attended, Iroquois High School. I taught for a couple of two years there, and then I went to a law enforcement magnet at another school and I was in my third year teaching and my wife worked for an airline and she got transferred to Phoenix, Arizona. So, so at that time I was very emotional about this, but I had to quit my job and go out there. And so I only did three years of what I really wanted to do originally right out of high school. Dr. Charles Baker [00:03:24]: But I had a good time doing that, went to Arizona, and my first job out there was director of security for the Mesa, Arizona Public. So I became chief of security for them. That was my job when I, when we left to move out there and did that for seven years, my boss, an assistant superintendent, and he hooked me up with a professor at Arizona State University who talked me into earning my doctorate at Arizona State. So moved to Arizona. Instead of watching TV at night, I'd go to college and finished my doctorate and my dissertation tied in law enforcement as well as education. And back then, this was Columbine High school day. So my dissertation was about the attitudes of school principal in reporting crime from school. Ashlee [00:04:13]: Oh, wow. Dr. Charles Baker [00:04:13]: Is that relevant at that time? 20 some years later, it might be worthy of a follow up with that to see if it's changed. But anyway, finished my doctorate, I had the opportunity to become a professor at Scottsdale Community College. And so I finished my time. I did about seven years at Mesa Schools and 12 years teaching college, got to retire and we moved back home. And since then I've been here teaching as an adjunct at the university. So that's the Cliff Notes version. Ashlee [00:04:45]: That is incredible. And now I want to go read your dissertation. Dr. Charles Baker [00:04:50]: Well, it might be boring, so. Ashlee [00:04:52]: No, no, not at all. I feel all of that. So I'm excited to have you on here to talk about that. I'm like, oh my gosh, this is amazing. Jennifer [00:05:01]: Well, and I don't know that I knew that your story was so full circle in terms of going to a teacher's college at Western University. And that always being a bit of your calling. And so it makes sense that you kind of merge these two worlds together. And do you find that your experience on the police department influences how you profess or your teaching of the criminal justice? Dr. Charles Baker [00:05:28]: You know, when I started teaching criminal justice at the community college level, a lot of entry level courses, survey courses of the criminal justice system, not just policing and those, but looking at policing, the courts and corrections, you know, the three stool, three legs on the stool generally of policing. So I try to incorporate all those in, but basically with the police being the catalyst for all of those without police investigating crimes, making arrests, we don't go to the court system, we don't go to the correctional system. And so I try to incorporate all of those in there. And. But it's been helpful, especially again, these survey courses that introduce you to constitutional law and those kind of things, I try to gear it toward how that impacts the people that work in the freedom of speech to protest and those kind of things. And what police officers need to know about balancing a community's right to express their views publicly, but yet not cross the line and interrupt with civil order, civil disobedience, how to balance those kind of things out. You know, the search and seizure, the right to remain silent, all those things, how the police officer on the street has to understand those and know the limits of their authority and those kind of things. So I've been trying to incorporate the, the practicality of that with sort of the words, textbook words, the academic words. Dr. Charles Baker [00:06:55]: And I think students have generally appreciated that. Ashlee [00:06:59]: So, yeah, and that was kind of our next question or one that I had was how, how your students kind of respond. Do you give your own real world examples of what it was like for you when you were an officer? And how do they respond to that? Dr. Charles Baker [00:07:13]: Well, upfront, I tell them a lot of times and this gets a little bit, I don't know how to say it, maybe touchy right now because I've always tried to play devil's advent and come up with scenarios during the classroom of practical situations that may occur on the street. And I would tell them up front, these are not always my views. I'm just playing devil's advocate to encourage discussion, to encourage you to come forward and share your thoughts. And so I might say something that's not what I truly believe, but just to foster some discussion in the classroom. And I would bring up scenarios and I would tell them they're not all mine. They might be some of my colleagues that have been involved again in this day and time, I think we have to be cautious about that because I could come up with a devil's advocate sort of scenario and someone think that's the way I truly feel, especially when it comes to race relations. When we talk about George Floyd, we talk about Breonna Taylor and all those kind of cases, it can become emotional and you just have to be cautious about how you phrase things so that they don't think that that's the way you truly mean. But we have to, I really believe this in academia, we gotta. Dr. Charles Baker [00:08:25]: We gotta discuss the truthful things that go on in our society, even if they're unpleasant or maybe hurtful. Jennifer [00:08:32]: Yeah, I think that that's a really good point in trying to walk that line of giving real life experiences and not having it. How to be viewed as your own perspective, from your perspective, what do you feel like are some, maybe misconceptions or things that get brought up in, you know, in the classroom that are misconceptions around criminal justice? Dr. Charles Baker [00:08:57]: Well, I think one of that strikes me and it's, it's interesting. Having done this for a long time, I do things. I do some online classes too, so I have a lot of what I call critical thinking questions. There's no right or wrong answers, but their responses are, you know, if we were in the classroom, it would be class participation. Raise your hand and speak up. Online. It's writing, writing your responses. I found out that they will post online more, I don't know, truthfulness or their feelings more than they will verbally in a classroom with other people where someone could look at them. Dr. Charles Baker [00:09:35]: I'm finding that out. I can see how attitudes have changed among students in a lot of areas over the course of the years. One example of that is I would ask them that if someone died of a drug overdose and the person that sold them those drugs illegally that killed them, do they have some level of responsibility? The person that sold them years ago, it would be, no, no, no, no, no. The person that bought the drugs and took the drugs, it's their responsibility. I've seen that evolve over the years where now they're willing to hold the person that sold them the illegal drugs more culpable. And I'm not saying them all. I'm just saying statistically, I'm seeing more that agree with that than did several years ago. But I think misconceptions, obviously one it's been for a long time, is police drive fast and they shoot guns and they do this, you know, the TV type stuff. Dr. Charles Baker [00:10:30]: And I would tell Many, many of your hours a day are boring, driving around, patrolling and writing reports. And I, this is one thing that I have emphasized particularly when I worked at community college out in Arizona because we worked closely with the local police departments around there and they would tell us that the shortcomings they're seeing their recruits are the ability to write, the ability to document what they did. What they did may have been correct, what they did investigation, but it becomes lacking because they don't know how to articulate it in writing. So when you emphasize writing, that's not the fun stuff. Okay. But I tell them how, how critical and important that is. So that's, you know, the fallacies of that and the perception because of media, I believe with high profile cases of George Floyd and horrible, horrible cases of things, they see bad things that police do sometimes and then they, they sort of lump it all into one pile. They, they stereotype a lot for that. Dr. Charles Baker [00:11:35]: And I have to emphasize to them that the vast majority of police officers just want to go out and do a good job and want to go home to their families at the end of the day and they're not out to racially profile or are there exceptions to that like any other? So those, some of them that I've Misconception. Ashlee [00:11:52]: Yeah. And I love to hear this. I also think like, we actually have a lot of listeners who aren't even in the first responder world, which is really cool. And I think for those listeners too, this is such a great opportunity to learn that, that these things are being talked about because I think it's easy for a lot of people who are not in the first responder world to feel like it isn't considered. These things aren't talked about. We turn our heads to it. Right. Like that's what I hear a lot. Ashlee [00:12:18]: And I know that that's not true from working in it so much, but to hear it from you and to hear how well first off you articulate it, amazing. And, and so to hear that and to learn from you, I think is going to be really helpful to our listeners because you're right, we have to talk about. Dr. Charles Baker [00:12:32]: You can't just bury your head in the sand and they won't go and they'll all go away. So I think that's important for at the college level or other levels too, even at the high school level sometimes. I did a couple of law enforcement or, excuse me, criminal justice type classes in high school and I thought they were valuable, particularly young people at that time to be aware of what the Reality of policing was that they face, you know, when they see a police officer on the street, they see it hopefully totally different. Disgusted. Ashlee [00:13:02]: Absolutely. Absolutely. And, and how do you, I know you kind of hit on this a little bit, but maybe you can dive in a little bit more of like, how do you balance your own knowledge with the academic part? Like, especially if it kind of goes against what you have thought, you know, within your career and how things have evolved so much like, I guess, your, your personal self. How do you manage that when we're. Dr. Charles Baker [00:13:24]: That'S a good, that's a really good question. A couple of years ago here at the university, they have the Southern Police Institute, Jennifer, probably, and they had a, an opportunity for me to go teach that class. And I went through that program in 1982. So that shows you how old and so I welcome the opportunity to go teach. And that had law enforcement comman

#86: [Inside the Mind] Debbie O'Connell: Training Your Mindset (versus Mental Game) and Bringing Your WHOLE-self to the Course In this powerhouse episode of The Scratch Golfer's Mindset Podcast, I'm joined by LPGA professional and mindset expert Debbie O'Connell to dive deep into what mindset really means—and how it differs from the mental game of golf. If you've ever felt stuck, frustrated, or like you're bringing emotional baggage from life onto the course, this episode will feel like it was made for you. Debbie and I discuss how your subconscious beliefs, emotions, and early life programming shape your identity as a golfer—and how shifting these beliefs can spark massive breakthroughs both on and off the course. From self-sabotage to self-worth, from fear to flow state, we cover it all. In today's episode, you'll learn: The key difference between mental game strategies and true mindset training Why emotional reactions on the course are often rooted in childhood patterns How to unearth and release limiting beliefs that create performance plateaus What it really takes to break through your “internal thermostat” and shoot lower scores How your identity shapes your results—and how to rewrite it The role of flow state, presence, and emotional regulation in consistent performance How golf is a mirror of your life—and how growth in one reflects in the other Get your pencils ready and start listening.  P.S. It's not just about pre-shot breathing or staying positive—it's about rewiring how you think, feel, and respond under pressure. You bring your whole self to the course. Your fears, beliefs, and emotional patterns show up in your swing, decision-making, and reactions. Fear drives self-sabotage. Fear of success, fear of failure, and fear of judgment all contribute to rushing, over-trying, and tightening up. Flow state is possible—and trainable. You can learn to access deeper focus and bypass conscious interference, creating effortless, confident swings. The subconscious is irrational. It's like a five-year-old running the show—until you learn to reprogram it. Reactions are patterns. Responses are power. You can train yourself to respond with calm, clarity, and curiosity—even after OB or three-putts. Change your identity, change your score. If you don't believe you're someone who can shoot in the 60s, your subconscious will keep the score higher. Key Quotes: “We bring our whole selves to the game of golf.” “The mental game is a checklist. Mindset is who you become.” “Your subconscious doesn't care if it makes sense. It just wants to protect you.” “The conscious mind is the goal-setter. The subconscious is the goal-getter.” “Golf is just a mirror of your personal development journey.” “You're either in the driver's seat of your life—or blaming someone else from the passenger side.” Time Stamps: 00:00: Introduction and Energy Exchange 01:09: Understanding the Mental Game of Golf 03:10: The Depth of Mindset in Golf 04:55: Exploring Emotional Connections in Golf 08:18: The Impact of Mindset on Performance 10:28: Overcoming Fear and Embracing Change 10:56: The Role of Fear in Personal Growth 14:02: The Importance of Identity in Performance 21:57: Building Mental Toughness 31:53: The Power of Positivity 42:25: Taking Ownership of Your Story

This week, Lauren welcomes UI College of Public Health alumnus and recipient of the college's 2024 Outstanding Alumni Award, Dr. Vijay Golla. They discuss his journey into public health that began with his medical training in India, where he became interested in preventive medicine and social medicine. This led him to pursue a Ph.D. in industrial hygiene at the University of Iowa, where he focused his dissertation on assessing pesticide levels and related doses among farm families in Iowa. After graduating, Dr. Golla returned to Western Kentucky University, where he obtained a training grant to support undergraduate and graduate students in environmental health sciences. In his current role as Vice Provost for Research and Health Sciences at Texas A&M, Dr. Golla has been able to significantly increase research funding and expand the university's health science initiatives, which he sees as a critical part of public health's future focus on disease prevention. Dr. Golla emphasizes the importance of field experience, networking, and staying research-active for current public health students and young professionals. He is excited about public health's growing influence and its potential to play a pivotal role in providing personalized preventive healthcare recommendations, much like a vehicle's diagnostic system. It's Thursday, March 20th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Irish pastor in hot water for preaching outside hospital Authorities in Northern Ireland are prosecuting a retired pastor for preaching outside a general hospital. Seventy-six-year-old pastor, Clive Johnston, held an open-air Sunday service outside the facility last July. While the hospital does perform abortions, he made no reference to abortion, pointing people to Jesus Christ. Officials are charging Johnston with violating the Abortion Services Safe Access Zones Act.  He now faces a criminal record and fines totaling thousands of pounds.  The Christian Institute is representing Johnston. Simon Calvert, Deputy Director of the group, said this. CALVERT:  “Prosecuting someone for preaching John 3:16 near a hospital on a quiet Sunday is an outrageous imposition on free speech and Gospel freedom.” John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Hungary bans events that celebrate sexual perversion Hungary's parliament passed a law Tuesday banning events that celebrate sexually perverted lifestyles. Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán pulled no punches. ORBAN: “I advise [homosexual and transgender] pride organizers not to bother with the preparation of this year's parade. It would be a waste of money and time.” Orban wrote on X, “Today, we voted to ban gatherings that violate child protection laws. In Hungary, a child's right to healthy physical, mental, intellectual, and moral development comes first. We won't let woke ideology endanger our kids.” In response, members of a liberal opposition party, known as Momentum, lit colorful smoke flares inside the Hungarian Parliament while Orban was talking. They also rudely displayed manipulated pictures of Orban kissing Vladimir Putin. Plus, homosexual and transgender activists blocked a bridge in central Budapest in protest.  And one homosexual man offered his analysis. PROTESTER: “It's quite terrifying, to be honest, because we had the same in Russia. It was building up step by step. I feel like this is what's going on here. I'm not surprised that Viktor Orban doesn't have any original ideas. He only copying Putin or Trump.” Hungary's new law builds on the previous Child Protection Law which bans the promotion of homosexuality.  Dept. of Defense to cut 60,000 civilian jobs In the United States, the Defense Department plans to cut up to 60,000 civilian jobs.  The department aims to cut 5% to 8% of its civilian workforce which numbers nearly 900,000. Already 21,000 employees have voluntarily resigned.  The department hopes to make many of the cuts by simply not replacing workers who leave on a regular basis.  The cuts are part of President Donald Trump's efforts to slim down the federal workforce.  Trump paused $175 million to UPENN over male in women's sports FOX Business reports the Trump administration paused $175 million in federal funding to the University of Pennsylvania yesterday. At issue is the university's inclusion of men, pretending to be women, in women's sports, specifically William Thomas, a senior, who now goes by the feminine name Lia, and stole first place from Riley Gaines, a biological woman. The Department of Education is also investigating the Ivy League school following Trump's executive order to keep men out of women's sports. At stake is the university's total federal funding which amounted to around $1 billion last year. Minneapolis ordered to pay $450,000 to pro-life group over violation The city of Minneapolis, Minnesota agreed to pay $450,000 in a pro-life case last week. The city had barred Pro-Life Action Ministries from working near an abortion mill. The ministry sued the city in 2023 and won their case thanks to the help of the Thomas More Society.  Peter Breen, executive vice president of the Christian legal group said, “Politicians seeking to hinder and silence the efforts of pro-life sidewalk counselors should think twice—or it will cost them.” U.S. birth rate up thanks to Hispanic women U.S. births rose slightly last year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. There were just over 3.6 million births last year, up 22,250 births from 2023. The rise in births is due in part to a rise in births among Hispanic women.  The U.S. birthrate has been falling for years, and experts don't expect last year's uptick to change the overall trend.  52% of Protestant churches grew after COVID pandemic Lifeway Research released a new report on worship service attendance for Protestant churches in the U.S. since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The report found 52% of churches experienced growth in worship attendance. Meanwhile, 33% saw attendance plateau and 15% experienced decline.  Also, around half of Protestant churches had at least 10 people make a new commitment to Jesus Christ as their Savior in the past year. Christian college students wrote Gospel of John on sidewalks And finally, Christian students wrote the entire Gospel of John on campus sidewalks at Western Kentucky University last week. Nearly 70 students from Baptist Campus Ministry and Cru, formerly Campus Crusade for Christ, and Hilltoppers for Christ got together with chalk to complete the task in about two and a half hours. Afterwards, they prayed for students at the university.  Luke Alford, Vice President of Baptist Campus Ministry, told Kentucky Today, “People look for answers in a lot of different things, and I think it's really good to have answers right in front of them.” John 1:1, 4 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . . In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, March 20th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Subscribe by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.
