One of the major storylines of the 2025 Sun Devil season was injuries. That, in turn, gave way to opportunities. When star safety and team leader Xavion Alford was lost due to injury, there was a significant void left in the secondary. But newcomer Adrian "Boogie" Wilson stepped in, stepped up, and helped ASU to a successful season. He's now poised to be a key and veteran presence on the revamped Sun Devil defense. The tight end position is alive and well within the Arizona State offense. It was largely MIA in the several years prior to Kenny Dillingham's arrival, but the position has now had a player with at least 30 catches in each of Kenny's three seasons in Tempe. And beyond the pass catching, the offense often features two, three, or more tight-end formations. Even though All-Big-12 honoree Chamon Metayer is off to the NFL, the position is primed to remain a strength. A big reason is rising sophomore A.J. Ia. A four-star signee out of California, the 6-foot-6, 260-pounder brings rare skills and a lauded work ethic to tight end coach Jason Mohns' room. With a year of experience under his belt, he could be a breakout star in 2026. After a couple of rebuilding seasons, Arizona State softball got back to the postseason last year and heads into 2026 with eyes on making a deep run. One of the keys to that turnaround has been the play of Tanya Windle. A Peoria native, she dreamed of playing for the Sun Devils since she was young. However, life threw a curve, and she ended up elsewhere to begin her college career. But a dynamic freshman season, coupled with a new staff in Tempe, helped her realize her dream. Now, she's among the nation's elite outfielders. On this episode, we discuss her softball journey, her approach at the plate, why ASU means so much, and a fateful countdown on a whiteboard, and more.  

2026 will be a new era for Sun Devil quarterbacks, and all eyes will be on the position in spring and fall camps to see who will take the reins. Among the hopefuls is redshirt freshman Cam Dyer, who is the only returner in the group. His high school career saw him put up video game numbers, a four-star recruiting rating, and two Gatorade Player of the Year awards in his home state of New Mexico. He committed to ASU prior to his senior year, interestingly as a wide receiver, not a quarterback. However, a torn ACL near the end of his prep days had him begin his time in Tempe rehabbing. Making the switch back to quarterback, he put in the work, recovered, and ended the year as the Sun Devils' top backup. He'll now get a chance to make his mark on the offense this offseason. 2025 was my 15th season covering Arizona State football. Over that span, there are few—if any—players that I've covered more impactful, on and off the field, than Xavion Alford. Despite being ruled ineligible by the NCAA in 2023 after his transfer, he was a key part in establishing ASU's culture. He then took the field last year and was an All-Big 12 first team performer. Although an injury kept him sidelined for most of this past year, he still contributed in an off field role and recently declared for the NFL Draft.
