Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise reacts to ESPN's NFL quarter-century team released this week, which included only two Steelers on the 53-man roster. Why were Alan Faneca and Troy Polamalu the only names to make the cut? Did T.J. Watt deserve a spot over the Browns' Myles Garrett? And were names including Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger, Le'Veon Bell, Antonio Brown, Chris Boswell, Cam Heyward, Hines Ward, James Harrison and Maurkice Pouncey snubbed?
There is a lot of risk for the Steelers taking Aaron Rodgers as QB1. The idea of a one-helmet guy goes out the window when the Steelers don't think you can play anymore. Joe thinks the Steelers pushed out Troy Polamalu, Hines Ward, and Ben Roethlisberger out before they wanted to retire and were willing to leave open the possibility the first two would go elsewhere. Would T.J. Watt be ok not being a one-helmet guy?
Steak and Rusty continue with their discussion on who should be on the Mount Rushmore of Atlanta high school football and ultimately believe Hines Ward, Calvin Johnson and Cam Newton would be for names that have to be included. They then do a brief tailgate and preview the Women's and Men's Final Four matchups.

Jeff believes the Penguins need to do whatever is best for the team to improve the roster. Draft experts like Jaxson Dart as a riser in the draft, but we still have questions. Jeff could pick Tyler Warren if he's available but would not take Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty. Jeff compares Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka to Hines Ward and would be happy if the Steelers take him. Jeff thinks the Penguins need to be blown away to deal Rickard Rakell.
Post-Gazette spots columnist Paul Zeise reacts to the day in Pittsburgh sports news live around 5 p.m. Eastern. How will the Steelers' 1970s dynasty -- featuring legendary names like Mean Joe Greene, Jack Lambert, Terry Bradshaw and Franco Harris -- compare to what Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs have done this decade if the Chiefs are able to beat the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl? And how can we expect the game to play out? Will Mahomes' greatness win out again? Or could Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles find the magic to take him down? Later, Paul tackles some other hot Steelers topics. How excited should fans be for the 2025 game in Dublin, Ireland? Was T.J. Watt snubbed in DPOY voting, with the Broncos' Patrick Surtain II taking the honors? And how do the Pro Football Hall of Fame resumes of Hines Ward and James Harrison compare to those of 2025 inductees like Sterling Sharpe and Jared Allen?

On the weekly Chipped Ham & Football podcast, host Adam Bittner welcomes Ed Bouchette, former Steelers insider for the Post-Gazette and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, to react to the team's 2024 season and where it goes from here. Is Mike Tomlin closer to a messy exit like Chuck Noll? Or a Super Bowl-winning revival like Bill Cowher? How would Dan Rooney have handled the team's current playoff wins drought differently than son Art Rooney II as owner, if at all? And is Tomlin's long tenure more about loyalty? Or belief in doing business the way ownership would like to? Ed tackles those questions, then weighs in on roster issues. Why does he prefer Justin Fields over Russell Wilson or outside options at quarterback? What are his feelings about WR George Pickens and whether GM Omar Khan should explore trading him this offseason? Is it time to break up the defensive core of Cam Heyward, T.J. Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick? And why does Ed like Joey Porter Jr. and Keeanu Benton as young players who can grow into bigger roles? Then our duo wraps the show with some Hall of Fame talk with a focus on Hines Ward and James Harrison.
Great seasons never go exactly as planned. In fact, most have significant obstacles, like a key injury. But what makes those seasons great is someone steps up to answer the call, and the 2024 Sun Devils had Xavier Guillory. After the loss of Jordyn Tyson, Guillory put together a scorching finish to the year, scoring four huge touchdowns in critical ASU victories. He also continued to put in the hard work as a blocker, and he helped spring numerous big plays for the Sun Devil ground game during the magical season. On this episode, we discuss his clutch contributions and catches, working with Hines Ward, the lessons from his ASU career, his prep for the NFL, next year's batch of receivers, and much more.
Former Steeler Bryant McFadden joined the show. BMac said the standard is no longer the standard with Steelers football. He talked about the part of their play that is lacking against the rest of the league. BMac praised former Steelers like Hines Ward who helped pave the way for younger receivers and players coming up that displayed true leadership. He said there aren't enough players that are immediately respected on the offensive side of the ball right now. Bryant gave his take on what happened in the playoff game last weekend. He doesn't think Mike Tomlin should be gone, but changes need to be made. BMac debated about Tomlin ‘getting more with less.'
It sounds like the Steelers have ‘no interest' in Aaron Rodgers along with a few other QB options for 2025. Gerry Dulac also said the team won't draft one either because they ‘aren't in position' to take one. The guys discussed if that's an indictment on the Steelers way of doing business in general. Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise reacts to the day in Pittsburgh sports news. Do former Steelers Hines Ward and James Harrison belong in the Pro Football Hall of Fame? Why do voters not see enough in their decorated resumes? And how should their resumes stack up against 2025 class finalists including Torry Holt, Reggie Wayne, Steve Smith and Terrell Suggs? Later, Paul gives his thoughts on the crucial NFL Week 18 matchup with the Bengals on Sunday. Then offers some thoughts on the College Football Playoff quarterfinal results. Are James Franklin, Drew Allar and Penn State serious threats to win the title after their Fiesta Bowl win against Boise State? Can anyone beat Ohio State after the Buckeyes' dominant win over No. 1 Oregon in the Rose Bowl? And should the SEC take a perception win after costly bowl losses?
Pittsburgh Steelers fans have been showing their true colors this past week, and it's not Black and Gold, it's cowardly yellow. We'll put the Mike Tomlin haters to bed once again. What will take for the Steelers to have a 'successful' season? It depends on who you follow on social media. George Pickens is once again under the microscope. Some think a recent gesture shows he already wants out of Pittsburgh. Others say it's time to trade him. A losing streak is always a good time for the revisionist historians to emerge. This time the conversations centers around Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts. Finally, why Hines Ward and James Harrison may never make the Hall of Fame. What Yinz Talkin' Bout is the conversation about the Pittsburgh Steelers social media conversation, exposing all the week's hot and toxic takes. Hosted by Kyle Chrise and Greg Benevent.

Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. Mike believes Hines Ward should absolutely be in the Hall of Fame. Is there really a bias against the Steelers to get into the Hall? How do the parameters change when it comes to the HOF year after year? Mike reacted to the Steelers beating the Ravens. Locked On Steelers – Daily Podcast On The Pittsburgh Steelers
Chris Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast. The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Michigan receiver Roman Wilson in the third round of the NFL Draft, but is he a fit as the team's WR2 next to George Pickens? Chris Carter goes over his college resume to see how Wilson could fit long term for the Steelers, but also what might be needed from him isn't just what he does on the field, but also in the locker room. Also, Chris Carter takes a look at the new free agent signing Scott Miller, and how the Steelers' ensemble of depth receivers like Calvin Austin III, Van Jefferson, Quez Watkins, Dez Fitzpatrick, Denzel Mims and Marquez Callaway are just a mix of players Mike Tomlin, Omar Khan and Arthur Smith seek to find a diamond in the rough, but with none of them individually being the primary answer at the position. Finally, Chris ties the Steelers' current situation at wide receiver back to the team's legacy at the position, dating back to Hines Ward, and why Roman Wilson could compare well with what the Steelers need out of a wide receiver, both as a playmaker and a leader.CALL INTO THE SHOW AT 412-223-6644 or if international, e-mail your audio message to LOSTEELERSTOPICBAG@GMAIL.COMFollow Chris Carter on Twitter: @CarterCritiques.Theme music is 'Soul Kick' by Ceddy P, and 'Too Easy' by Nerdboy.
