Special guest: Everybody wave hi to Mira. Things Discussed: Spring game: Craig watched the line, wasn't that impressed. Bryce was throwing flat; overthrowing McCulley is a sin. There's a guy across the aisle who's already mad. Seth thinks when the threw that small window past a dropping DE was good; Brian thought he didn't see the drop. Jadyn Davis: Didn't look that polished but much improved. Mikey Keene? Brian thinks he's not a P4 quarterback. Receivers? If you go in the portal you can get a bunch of CJ Charlestons at this point. McCulley had the one contested ball and did the George Costanza. Keeps the expectations for Bryce in context, because Trevor Lawrence had NFL wideouts to throw at as a freshman. Want guys to step up: Marsh, Browder: turn around and context that. Seth: comp is what Nebraska got out of Raiola last year. Need the running game to be the engine of the offense. Get to functional. Hey Sam, how many targets is Jalen Hoffman getting? Are they going to do zone reads for Bryce? OL: Sprague up, Link down—if they're not naming him the starter now maybe he needs to move inside. Sam thinks Frazier can get healthy and get back his agility. Seth thinks they're gonna survive until Babalola is ready, ETA midseason. Break: Sam talks about his colon (I left this out of the podcast version). Defense: Tackles go six deep with big dudes. With them it's more about who they're going against. Linebacker: We are RICH. Seth thinks we have two guys who are better than the top six guys in the Draft, AND Rolder made it through spring without getting hurt. Barham has many uses, Sam thinks he's going to be an All-American. Sullivan can do Barham things. Big Nickel Mason Curtis: think this is a thing. Seth thinks Efobi looked like he was moving them. Dom Nichols: not surprised that a guy who played a lot as a true freshman is getting talk as DE#3. Who's got bend? Sam says Barham is #1. Seth wants to see it from Edokpayi.

Men's Basketball vs Auburn - Sweet Sixteen Starts at 1:00 It's times like this that make you think of Percy Bysshe Shelley's poem Ozymandias which has a passage about "when you're leading by 9 points with 12 minutes left don't give up a 20-2 run". Michigan made Auburn as dumb as Michigan for a half and then Auburn remembered they were the #1 overall seed. Michigan gives up 1.04 ppp overall. Turnovers were tied but Michigan was obliterated on rebounds. The season-long issues with the front court came to light in this game. This ended up being what you would expect in a game of Michigan vs Super Michigan. We'll miss Vlad Goldin, Craig has some nits to pick. 2. Looking Back on the Season Starts at 21:51 Dusty May comes into a roster with Will Tschetter and Nimari Burnett, most of his FAU squad doesn't follow him (besides Vlad Goldin). But he assembles this motley crew of a team. The question coming in was "can he assemble a good roster or did he just have one good recruiting class?" Turns out he can assemble a good roster. Brian hoped this could be a 6-seed coming into the season and people thought this was crazy. They probably should've been higher than a 5-seed. This season earns an A for exceeding all expectations, not an A+ but an A. Dusty May was the better choice over Niko Medved. 3. Hot Takes and Looking Forward to Next Season Starts at 42:43 Takes hotter than whatever Craig is about to say. Michigan loses Rubin Jones, Jace Howard, Vlad Goldin, Justin Pippen, and probably Danny Wolf, You now have a roster cap of 15, they can be scholarship or not. They'll be looking for centers in the portal. Get ready for an L.J. Cason glow up. Looking ahead to Trey McKenney as a freshman. If Sam Walters was going to hit the portal, wouldn't he have done it by now? There appear to be a lot of high quality centers in the portal. Transfer portal targets, Brian wants Magoon Gwath. What's the ceiling for next year? They'll finally have some continuity on the roster. Just find a guy who's 7 feet tall and put him on the roster. 4. Michigan Football Spring Practice and Hockey Starts at 1:26:08 The only QBs available are Bryce Underwood and Jadyn Davis, Mikey Keene is injured. Otherwise we're not hearing much of anything. Shamari Earls is supposedly turning out and is Charles Woodson sized. There will not be Jeremy Clark slander. Michigan hockey had a disappointing end to the season, how will they bounce back? How much will Michigan pay for hockey after football and basketball? What does the rest of the Big Ten look like? On this week's edition of The Michigan Recruiting Insider Sam Webb and Steve Lorenz discussed the addition of Alabama transfer Damon Payne and the ordeal that led him to first rescind his commitment before later reissuing it again. The discussion turns to other defensive line pursuits after defensive line pursuits after Keyshawn Silver committed to USC. Jay'viar Suggs, David Gusta, and Jared Dawson are covered. Moving to quarterbacks, Dequan Finn, Brendon Lewis, and Mikey Keene are discussed. The conversation shifts to offensive linemen and the recent commitment Brady Norton. Northwestern offensive line transfer Josh Thompson, a top portal priority for Michigan, is next. Then comes receiver targets and USC pass catchers Zachariah Branch and Duce Robinson. The visit at Max Klare, the no. 1 tight end in the portal is covered. Next Sam and Steve highlight Alabama running back Justice Haynes and his potential to compete for a starting role. They also discussed Emmanuel Karnley, a top-ranked cornerback from Arizona, who is visiting Michigan despite interest from Miami and Ole Miss. Additionally, they mentioned Troy Bowles, a linebacker from Georgia as a potential transfer with significant experience and talent. Things Discussed: Seth on early to talk about Lions injuries, Ira gives us a short history of Detroit-Buffalo friendship. Oklahoma: Yes they got absolutely jobbed by Szelc. Yes, it's the #1 story of the game. Pushoffs, moving screens, 75 percent of Fears's free throws, and then a soft whistle at one end while ignoring a two-handed shove at the other end. Both of those were Szelc calls. Michigan won't get a fair whistle against this guy tbut what are you gonna do about it, have Warde complain to the Big Ten? They don't care. Rest of the game: Thruck was thruck. Michigan is a good team that gets the best shots in CBB. They're doing it with the big-on-big, and they're starting to know each other. Seth: pay attention to where Goldin gets his passes, where he likes it. Gonna need a team with extreme athleticism and NBA shot-blockers to contest them. Portal: Sam runs us through the QB options. DQ is a good one, Brendan Lewis is the one we like the best, Mikey Keene is a decent floor—he played for Lindsey at UCF—but you don't want a pocket-bound popgun arm before Bryce, do you? Lindsey connection got us the Arkansas brothers. Good athleticism and presence, but see TJ Metcalf as a high-floor Walker not a difference-maker. Always want a 5th year guy at nickel from now on. Brian: Can Morris come back? Sam: It's possible; he had concerns about the offense so if they have an OC and a QB now things could change. He hasn't set up any visits. Offense needs some bodies at OL: the guy they got is a development prospect. They're all in on Josh Thompson, who's checking out Auburn and Tennessee.

Things Discussed: Vance Bedford (watch his breakdown) is a Michigan guy now. Texas fans haven't been good to him; Sam shares they were asking him why he's doing a Michigan show when we were down there for Houston. Defense: Bringing five shouldn't be your base. We can talk about the zero blitzes—McBurrows needs to drive not back out—but this team allows 2 yards per snap when they rush four and 8 yards per snap when they rush five. That's what they have, and need to play like it. Seth: If you're blitzing Mikey Keene you're just wasting coverage guys. Think it's the difference between Minter (a DBs guy) and Martindale (a DL/LB guy). Sam: They need to deal with RPOs because Texas has a lot of them, and the LBs were dead on play-action. Answer: do what you did last year: Drop linemen so you're impossible to read. D-Tackles? Graham was good, KG had some contain issues. Will Johnson: had to calibrate his pick six but it was coming all game. Did they stay away from Hill? No, Michigan put Johnson to the field because Fresno State throws to the side with easy reads. The bad calls: They were *really touchy about Michigan. The overturned INT when they bought a flop was one of the worst calls of the decade, kind of thing that deserves a reprimand because he made a call he did not see. Seth's answer: Now that the Big Ten has this great replay center, just have a dude with a DVR and a ref on the field with an earbud he can tell "pick that up." Offense: Have to calibrate the fans because it's an all new QB and an all new OL, and JJ McCarthy was one of the best QBs in college football, and it's going to be a big downgrade. Davis Warren: Was better than we realized. Needs help from his receivers; Tyler Morris stopped on the fly that was perfectly thrown. Sees his pre-snap reads but struggled with some post-snap reads. The interception was mostly on him, but Fred Moore needs to break that up at least—there are ways to get the cornerback wrong. Everybody's hearts sank when Orji turfed it, because that recast the battle from fall camp. Giudice: the wedge was a little on him, also Bredeson missing a block, also they can have a check to run Down G.

(BetterHelp.com/SPORTSBLISS.) Mentioned in this episode: Why get life insurance? We pay hundreds of dollars per year to protect our homes, our cars, and even our phones, but too many of us aren't taking steps to protect our families' finances. Mortgage payments, private student loans, and other types of debt don't just disappear if something happens to you. A life insurance policy can provide your loved ones with a financial cushion they can use to cover those costs - and it can provide you with peace of mind that even in a worst-case scenario, they'll be protected. Already have coverage through work? Having life insurance through your job may not be enough: Most people need up to 10x more coverage to properly provide for their families. And coverage through work isn't portable. If you leave your job, the policy doesn't go with you, meaning a gap in coverage when you need it most. Why get covered now? Life insurance typically gets more expensive as you age, so it's smart to get a policy sooner rather than later. Worried about price? By making it easy to compare your options from top companies, Policygenius can help you make sure you're not paying a cent more than you have to for the coverage you need. How it works 1. We got to see how QB's John Rhys Plumlee and Mikey Keene looked for the first time at the Spring game. Both QB's were airing the ball out, accounting for 7 total touchdowns. Who do you think will eventually start at the start of the season?
@fbscout_florida and @UCF_FanNation *Chemistry: Do the players truly work for and with one another? This is especially true of the new players via the Transfer Portal and the freshmen that enrolled early. Do they go out of their way to make the extra block for Isaiah Bowser? Do they run a route hard even if the football is not likely coming their way? Does the offensive line show the ability to mesh together and be a cohesive unit despite two transfers coming into the program? On defense, same deal. How well do they blend their talents together? Especially in the secondary, this needs to be a common theme because there's talent, depth and experience. *QB Play: Will it be John Rhys Plumlee or Mikey Keene? Keep in mind, Plumlee is the far superior runner. Therefore, logic dictates that Keene needs to be the far superior passer. Which signal caller throws the pigskin the best? Which one controls the offense via the pass and the run. The latter would be Plumlee's advantage, but will it? He needs to pass well for his running abilities to truly show themselves because that will lead to fewer defenders near the line of scrimmage. *Boundary WR: The redshirt junior, Jaylon Griffin, from Huntsville, Texas has the size at 6'3", 185-pounds. Can he use it along with his natural athleticism to break through and be the starter at the boundary wide receiver position? There's been some buzz about this young man. He only caught one pass for 14 yards last season, but he's allegedly really coming on. If he's able to at least rotate with Auburn transfer Kobe Hudson, that would be a good one-two punch for the Knights. *The Surprise Player: Every spring game, regardless of school, seemingly has that surprise player. Who's it going to be for the Knights? It could be an offensive lineman, a linebacker, or perhaps someone in the secondary. Maybe it's more than one player that plays well and surprises. That's what spring ball is all about! Finding out who's ready to play no matter the original expectations! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

When the seasons ended for UCF and Florida many fans wondered what would happen at the quarterback position for the following season. With spring practices opening up both Mikey Keene and Emory Jones are getting the first team snaps, and as Marc talks about although moves were made it makes sense for the players with the most experience with a system to be first on the depth chart right now.
Spring Training is right around the corner and we want to know who you think will start for UCF when it's all said and done. Will it be Mikey Keene? Joey Gatewood? John Rhys Plumlee?
The Quarterback position is arguably the most important position in football. When committing to a successful college program, most high school quarterbacks wait multiple years before they are able to showcase their talent. For Mikey Keene, his story unfolded a little differently. We sat down with Mikey to discuss his experience with being pulled into the spotlight and the adversity he overcame during his freshman year. Who will UCF Football's 2022 starting quarterback be? Will now sophomore Mikey Keene remain the main man behind center, or will any one of Parker Navarro, John Rhys Plumlee, Joey Gatewood, or Thomas Castellanos take the reins and be the Knights' top signal caller? Additional questions: 1) Will UCF have a package for a player like Rhys Plumlee or Castellanos or Navarro? 2) Does UCF rotate quarterbacks during games for entire drives? 3) With a more run-first quarterback like Rhys Plumlee in the lineup, does UCF become much predictable as an offense? 4) Which quarterbacks decide to transfer after seeing they are third or even fourth string after spring practice concludes? 5) Can the new quarterbacks develop a rhythm with the talented receivers like Jaylon Robinson and Ryan O'Keefe? USF vs. UCF Pick Prediction 11/26/2021 by Tony T. USF at UCF—South Florida has lost seven of eight after their 45-14 road loss to a down Tulane team. They surrendered 501 yards to the Green Wave. Green Wave defense trending poorly past three AAC games by allowing 551 yards with 5.9 yards per rush and 11.1 yards per pass attempt. UCF is having to navigate the remainder of their season without quarterback Dillon Gabriel out for the year. Mikey Keene has seen significant action since Week five. The freshman quarterback had strong passing performances against down programs in UCONN, Tulane and Temple. He faces another one here against USF. South Florida quarterback Timmy McClain completing only 51.5% of his throws in his past three conference games with 6.5 yards per pass attempt throwing five interceptions. Play UCF -18.5.

UCF vs. SMU Pick Prediction 11/13/2021 by Tony T.UCF at SMU—It is a two game losing streak for the Mustangs dropping games by 7 at Houston and 3 at Memphis. UCF has shown improved defensive play in their past three AAC games holding opponents to 291 yards, 3.5 per rush and 4.8 yards per pass attempt. SMU defense trending poorly in this period allowing 359 passing yards with 9.2 yards per pass attempt. Knights quarterback Mikey Keene completing 65.4% of his throws in the AAC with 6.8 yards per pass attempt. Past two games Keene averaged 10.9 per attempt against Temple and 9.2 against Tulane. Play UCF +7.5.

Memphis vs. UCF Pick Prediction 10/22/2021 by Tony T. Memphis at UCF—College football pick is Memphis Tigers +2.5. UCF without quarterback Dillon Gabriel to injury. They have lost three of their past four failing to cover all four of those games. Their lone win came against a down East Carolina team winning only 20-16 as a ten point favorite. They were held to 359 yards to East Carolina and 326 to Navy in recent games. Memphis a strong offense team averaging 487 yards per game with 4.9 per rush. Quarterback Seth Henigan completing 60.8% of his passes for an attack that averages 307 yards and 9.5 yards per attempt. Knights quarterback Mikey Keene just 5.2 yards per pass attempt last week and 5.5 two weeks ago to Navy. Play Memphis +2.5.

Finding ways to pressure a quarterback that's prone to big mistakes will be a priority for the Knights. Within this episode, two particular plays are explained that define how UCF can change the game against East Carolina by way of its quarterback Holton Ahlers. Second, stay away from the middle of the field. That's what UCF quarterback Mikey Keene needs to do. The Pirates do a really good job of taking the football away, especially in the middle of the field where experienced linebackers and aggressive safeties will look to create interceptions as well as punch out the football after a reception is made. Finally, which UCF defensive players, or special teams players, makes that game-changing play to help charge the Bounce House and change the scoreboard? Learn more about your ad choices. Reflecting upon Gus Malzahn's weekly press conference with information about UCF injuries, Mikey Keene's performance, and how the Knights need to clean up special teams. Keene also spoke to the media, and he continuously mentioned how he felt comfortable, as well as how he needs to place the football in the hands of the playmakers more often. He also mentioned getting it right as a team and finding a way to win this next Saturday. The Last speaker was defensive tackle Cam Goode. He reiterated what Keene said regarding this upcoming Saturday. There were players that stepped up and spoke about what needs to happen, too. Goode made that quite clear. With the game being on the road and Navy off to an 0-3 start, there's reason to believe that the Midshipmen will come out and play their best game of the year. While possible, there's also a reason Navy started this season winless. The Midshipmen are dead last in the FBS with just 10 points scored per game. That stat stems from the following two statistics as much as any others: allowing 28 tackles for loss and allowing 16 sacks. Again, it's only three games. Remember those statistics as the Knights take the field this afternoon. There's no reason to believe Navy will suddenly be a good football team. Mikey Keene will make his first start and do just fine. UCF will win this football game going away. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
As the Knights are now two days from kickoff at Navy, it's time to take a closer look at what should work offensively against a Navy defense that's struggled at times in 2021. Can the Knights come out and run the football directly at Navy? How will Mikey Keene handle his first assignment as the starting quarterback for UCF? Look for running back Johnny Richardson and wide receiver Brandon Johnson to each have big games against Navy. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
UCF vs. Navy Pick Prediction 10/2/2021 by Tony T. UCF at Navy—Free pick is Navy Midshipmen +16.5. Navy showed an improved offense in a 28-20 road loss at Houston by gaining 300 yards. UCF had a poor defensive performance in their loss at Louisville by surrendering 501 yards. Knights have lost starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel to a collar bone injury. Mikey Keene goes under center and completed 57% of his throws in a mop up role against FCS Bethune Cookman. UCF had a bad defense last year and there are signs of problems this season. Play Navy +16.5.
- Bye week news included the start of Mikey Keene, a (non) update on injuries, and a strange week in college football- Mike takes over UCF Observations, and has no actual UCF Observations. However, plenty of Cruise/Cruz talk- We spin the "UCF Wheel of Issues" and tell you how concerned we should be with some of the things that have plagued UCF early on- Sunday Headlines today featuring Mikey Keene, Big Kat, and Matt Lee- Mike's Picks and Pool Tracker update- cow of the week
With the Louisville game as a barometer of what to come, the UCF defense should be motivated to stop a Navy option attack that will attempt to reach the perimeter and create big plays in the process. If the Knights contain Navy's option attack by not allowing the wing backs and quarterback to reach the edges of the defense, there's little chance that Navy will be able to score with UCF. On offense, look for freshman quarterback Mikey Keene to play well during his first start. Regardless of the injury situation, the UCF offense possesses far too many skill position players with speed and quickness for Navy to handle. Learn more about your ad choices. Discussing how the injuries to players such as Matthew Lee, Isaiah Bowser, Jaylon Robinson, Ricky Barber, Tatum Bethune and Corey Thornton could impact true freshman quarterback Mikey Keene, who will make his first start this upcoming Saturday. Join Knight Sports Now's Bailey Adams and Christian Simmons for the 37th episode of the Pegasus Podcast! This week, Christian and Bailey discuss the unexpected start of the Mikey Keene Era and what Dillon Gabriel has meant to UCF.
Discussing the concerns of Mikey Keene at QB for UCF, including UCF Head Coach Gus Malzahn talking about his new signal caller. Coach Malzahn seemed pretty pleased with how everything went thus far, but he's just one person. The question becomes, how well he and others handle situations at practice that do not go well? Will the older players accept Keene if he's not rock solid from the outset? Without access to practice, it's hard to project just how much the veteran players will adjust to the signal caller from Arizona. Beyond that concern, it's an introduction the much larger podcast that will be out on Wednesday, Sep. 22 about Keene's style of play. Learn more about your ad choices. With Dillon Gabriel being out an indefinite amount of time, UCF must move forward at quarterback. Here are the two candidates -- Mikey Keene and Joey Gatewood -- that will be most likely to lead the UCF offense for the foreseeable future. Talking points include their playing styles, history, and why they can continue to help the Knights be a very good offensive team.
