Here is the breakdown of the latest 'OUinsider: Under the Visor Sooners Podcast' : 00:00 - Brandon, Collin, and Parker intro into the podcast and then discuss their latest road travels covering the Sooners on the recruiting trail. 13:20 - The hype and expectation for the Sooners are VERY REAL heading into 2021. Can they live up to it? When was the last time there was hype like this for an OU season? 19:00 - Does this Sooners team have the leadership to fight through ups and downs and keep themselves on track? Can Spencer Rattler, Nik Bonitto, Jeremiah Hall, and other leaders keep this team's focus through all that will come at them in 2021? 22:00 - Who are the leaders on this team? Can players like Eric Gray, Isaiah Thomas, and Marvin Mims join them as leaders in 2021? 26:45 - Ralph Rucker is now the third-string QB for the Sooners. Who saw that coming? Parker Thune did... Another huge evaluation and win for Lincoln Riley at the QB position. 39:30 - Freshman LB Danny Stutsman is a dude and has been turning heads all fall camp long. Talk about that and Caleb Kelly getting a look at RUSH backer with Bonitto, Marcus Stripling, and Clayton Smith already there. 45:00 - Staff says you can't go off of how the OU staff rotates players in the Tulane game for how they will do things all season long. And why the Nebraska game on is where you'll see some consistency with rotations and overall lineups. Also, who they are excited to see play early on (Hint: Kelvin Gilliam, Caleb Williams, Ethan Downs, Jordan Mukes, Danny Stutsman, Billy Bowman, Mario Williams and more) 50:35 - Caleb Williams is that dude and why his attitude has been nothing but special all spring and fall camp. He is competing like he is up for the starting job and bringing it every day at practice. Staff discusses what else they have heard about the former five-star and top overall 2021 QB. 52:00 - That 2023 class with an INSANE start. Has any school started as hot as OU in their 2023 class... ever? Sooners are just getting started and could five-star WR DeAndre Moore follow his Los Alamitos teammates of Malachi Nelson and Makai Lemon to Norman? 57:40 - 2022 WR recruiting talk. What does a QB would do if they had one to lead the 2022 class? Does it make a difference? The staff lays out facts as to why they think it would and also discuss what they have heard regarding some WR's in the 2022 class that OU could pursue and more. (Talked about Jaqualyn Crawford. Brandon said it was in the 2018 class. Correction: He was in 2020). 1:07:00 - Staff asks and answers the question, "Should OU or Sooners fans worry about 2022 WR recruiting?" Hint: There are some smart-ass comments made. Staff talks about WR recruiting a bit more over a few OUinsider VIP nuggets already posted on the VIP Board. 1:15:30 - Staff finally gets back to 2023 five-star Brandon Inniss and what he brings to OU. They took a wrong turn and digressed BADLY. Staff says Inniss is up there with CeeDee Lamb and Marvin Mims as far as an overall talent that he brings to the table. He explains why he thinks that in this segment. 1:20:00 - Why the five-stars in the 2023 class are such polarizing and magnetic personalities. Also, why that will make the 2023 class that much more special. 1:22:00 - Final scrimmage breakdown with some sourced information over what the OUinsider staff has heard about that and the fall camp. 1:26:00 - Speed 'D' hype worth it? Can they live up to the expectations? 1:31:00 - The podcast ends with staff discussing the biggest concerns for the Sooners heading into week one against Tulane. 1:39:00 - Podcast ends.
In the opening take, Lee tells you why Caleb Williams was impressive during OU's spring game. Then Grant joins to talk about going to the spring game and seeing the stadium for the first time since 2012 (2:55). Then Grant gives his take on Caleb Williams, plus Spencer Rattler was not sharp (7:10). Lee names the offensive players who stood out to him Saturday beginning with Eric Gray's first appearance in an OU uniform (17:00). Mario Williams got a lot of targets Saturday and Jadon Haselwood made the catch of the day (21:45). It would seem Andrew Raym is the top center for the Sooners heading into the summer (27:00). Switching over to the defense as Lee talks about being down on the field seeing some of the new players in person, including Billy Bowman (35:00). Grant loves DJ Graham and he's got a super hot take about Graham's future (38:30). Clayton Smith looked awesome close up and Lee's incredibly excited to see how the Sooners use him this fall (41:45). Let's talk about Caleb Kelly. He looks to be in great shape and it would be super cool if he stays healthy in 2021 (46:20). Grant wants to talk more in depth about the secondary group touching on Josh Eaton, Key Lawrence, Justin Harrington, and more (50:00). We talk about all the players who did not play. Lee was most disappointed to not see Jalen Redmond out there (58:00). There's always random players who stand out in the spring game who never do anything ever again (1:01:45). Wanya Morris started at LT for the first team offense Kennedy Brooks didn't do a lot, and OU gets Arkansas transfer Mike Woods. Good to see Austin Stogner active, plus can any of these 2019 5-star WRs catch a break (1:02:55)? Wrapping up the spring game and looking ahead to the summer and the fall, plus the NFL Draft is this week, and Orlando Brown gets traded to the Chiefs (1:11:10). OUinsider staffers Brandon Drumm, Collin Kennedy, and Parker Thune meet for the first time in two weeks to podcast after travels all over the region. Drumm and Thune went by Texarkana (TX) to see Texas High talent and also to see big-time 2022 edge rusher and former high school teammate Clayton Smith (current OU freshman edge rusher) Derrick Brown. Thune talks about Brown and where OU stands. Drumm had a full write-up on Brown on OUinsider VIP a few weeks ago. Drumm and Thune also spent a few days in New Orleans, where they saw several Sooners targets, including five-star DB Jacoby Mathews. On the way back to OKC, the duo stopped by to see Monroe (LA) defensive back Lorenzell Dubose and elite 2023 Longview (TX) wide receiver Jalen Hale. They breakdown that trip while Collin Kennedy breaks down several Houston area targets that he saw at his offensive line and defensive line camp Kennedy put together over this past weekend. Kennedy also touches on several other recruiting topics, including the Under Armor All American Camp in Dallas. That camp was attended by the most talent Drumm and Kennedy had ever seen in one camp setting. With that came tons of Oklahoma targets and commits like four-star OU wideout commit Talyn Shettron, four-star LB target Ish Harris, big-time OKPreps defensive lineman Chris McClellan, linebacker Justin Medlock, linebacker Kip Lewis, DB Jarred Kerr, five-star OL Devon Campbell and many more that they talk about on the OUinsider podcast. The trio doesn't hold back on the Cornhuskers trying to get out of the Sooners game in Norman on September 18th and finish up the podcast talking about the Sooners hoops run to end the 2020-21 season and the fact spring football is underway! Lincoln Riley, Alex Grinch, Dennis Simmons, and the Oklahoma staff just closed out their LincUp21 class and met with the media on Wednesday. Our OUInisder.com and 247Sports staffers Brandon Drumm, Collin Kennedy, and Parker Thune talk about that presser. Also, they talk about Riley's thoughts and quotes on why the Sooners took only 16 commits and along with having five incoming transfers so far. The OU staff seems overly excited about players, and early enrollees, like Billy Bowman, Caleb Williams, Ethan Downs, Clayton Smith, Danny Stutsman, Mario Williams, and also pinpointed transfer Key Lawrence as a potential big-time player for OU in the 2021 season. Sooners assistant coach Dennis Simmons also met with the OU beat and talked about his promotion to Oklahoma outside wide receiver coach/passing game coordinator and assistant head coach. Simmons was previously the associate head coach at OU. OUinsider staff discusses why that move and promotion was big for Lincoln Riley and the Sooners moving forward, The 247sports staff also talks about why Simmons is one of the top assistants in all of college football. The OUinsider trio then talks about Big Kat Bryant and what he could be or mean for the already talented and deep Sooners defensive line. That brought on a question by Drumm as he asks Thune and Kennedy what another great DL performance in 2021 could do for the Sooners recruiting and program moving forward. That was obviously rhetorical, but he asked if it at the most critical juncture yet for OU and DL recruiting with Texas A&M and others coming around, as well? Will the SEC transfers to OU pay off in the SEC territory and recruiting if the four or five former SEC players come in and become NFL Draft picks? If so, how much can it pay off and what is the ceiling for the Sooners recruiting in the SEC territory? Can OU consistently steal elite talent out of that area? They discuss and say why they think it's possible or not possible. The staff also discusses their predictions for the next three commitments in the Sooners ChampU22 class, Raleek Brown's upcoming decision between OU and several elite P5 programs on Friday, and they talk OU hoops along with where they think the Sooners hoops team will be seeded in the NCAA tourney when their season is all said and done. Finally, the OUInsider staff discusses why a certain sect of the Sooners fanbase needs to chill and save their off-base opinions of Brendan Radley-Hiles (Bookie) after OUinsider broke the story on his potential transfer from Oklahoma the other day. The OUinsider trio talks about why Bookie will be sorely missed and why so many in the OU program (present and former) have such high-praise for Bookie. Also hear why Lincoln Riley loves Bookie as does Alex Grinch and others. Basically, the OUinsider staff gives their emotionally charged opinions on why some of the Sooners fan base is not right in their opinions of Bookie, along with his impact on the OU football program on and off the field. All that and more on the latest OUinsider Under the Visor Sooners Podcast! Make sure you join OUInsider.com VIP if you're not a VIP member already! $1 can get you one month before it's $9.95 after. Everyone has been waiting for the recruiting momentum to build for the class of 2021. The Sooners got rolling in a big way Friday with the addition of the No. 1 player in the state of Florida, WR Mario Williams and the No. 1 OLB in Texas, Clayton Smith. In a special Unofficial40 podcast Bob Przybylo and Josh McCuistion breakdown the recruiting news of the day, talk about what types of players the Sooners are getting and what this means moving forward. And does this signal a major shift in recruiting fortunes on defense for Alex Grinch? Jamar Cain gets his first big fish as an OU assistant. It's a special pod with Josh and Bob talking exclusively about recruiting.
Is the dam on Oklahoma football commitments for 2021 about to burst? We absolutely think that it is. Two high-profile targets are set to announce their decisions on Friday, May 15th and that could easily spark a tsunami of commitments capped by Caleb Williams, the top quarterback in the class. Also, Nick Saban is taking some credit for leading Jalen Hurts to Oklahoma. For that we just simply say thank you. Speaking of Jalen Hurts, Lincoln Riley does not agree with the Taysom Hill comparisons. Former Oklahoma linebacker Mark Jackson has a new home and will be facing the Sooners this coming season. Episode Talking Points Mario Williams & Clayton Smith are committing Other recruiting updates - Including Caleb Williams not caring that Garrett Nussmeier committed to LSU Nick Saban pointed Jalen Hurts To Oklahoma Lincoln Riley doesn't compare Jalen Hurts to Taysom Hill Mark Jackson's new home in Ft. Hubbell runs an education facility bigger than Greg’s warehouse, for one reason: training is more important than ever in the lighting industry. Clayton Smith their director of business development sat down with Michael and Greg at LightFair International 2019 to share his thoughts on training and education in the lighting industry today. By building a dedicated facility they can exploit the value of an in-person learning experience, webinars inevitably get shuffled to another tab while ‘real work’ goes on. Hubbell does offer video materials but the key is to keep short, easily digestible, and encourage further reading as needed rather dumping piles of details on the viewer. They also delve into the challenges facing any new entrant to the industry, how to learn legacy products at arms reach, the value of touring production facilities whenever possible and how controls experts are becoming a must-have for any staff in the industry.
