Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 59 of Season 2 of Red Wings Rant hosted by the Brothers of Discussion and brought to you by the Hockey Podcast Network.  Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home. Red Wings Hire Alex TanguayThe Red Wings have hired a new Assistant Bench Boss in Assistant Head Coach, Alex Tanguay. As Assistant Head Coach, Alex Tanguay will be in charge of the Forwards and the Power Play. Alex Tanguay coached for the Iowa Wild and handled their power play for the last two seasons. His strategies lead to the Iowa Wild having the 5th best Power Play in the AHL. Tanguay played the majority of his career with the Colorado Avalanche from 1999-2016. Over his career, Alex Tanguay amassed 244 Power Play points. Reports Coming in Keith Petruzzelli will not sign with Red WingsRed Wings are also moving away from their top goaltender prospect (arguably) in Keith Petruzzelli. The 22-Year-Old Goalie Prospect just finished a fantastic season with Quinnipiac in the NCAA. Petruzzelli had a .926 Save Percentage with a 1.89 GAA. Keith Petruzzelli was drafted in the 2017 draft in the 3rd round. His 6'5" frame had a lot to do with his draft selection. Since he has elevated his play in the NCAA over the course of four seasons, one would expect him to find a job somewhere. Building a Winner Through Free AgencyNHL Draft is 24th - Free Agency is the 28th  The Red Wings are granted early access to every pending free agent. You can add in some draft picks You must follow RFA rules Can we build a champion? For a couple of weeks, the Duke Basketball Report Podcast has been speculating about potential transfers who might be coming into the program following a few announcements of departures. We got some news on that front this week in the form of Theo John and Bates Jones, but the transfer news is overshadowed by former Duke All-American and National Champion Nolan Smith's promotion from Director of Basketball Operations to Assistant Head Coach. We start with Nolan, not just because he's filling Nate James's sizable shoes on the Duke bench, but because all three of the hosts of this show are huge fans of Nolan Smith the basketball player and Nolan Smith the man. We break down some of our favorite Nolan Smith moments and qualities before diving into his introductory press conference, which was a celebratory affair not just for Nolan but also for the media in attendance, many of whom know him well. After the break, we discuss the transfer announcements of big men Theo John and Bates Jones. We speculate that John should actually get a few minutes of burn behind Mark Williams and Paolo Banchero as a banger around the rim, and though Jones may not get to play much in a now crowded front court, he will be a key practice player and leader. Both John and Jones are transferring in from programs run by reputable coaches. John played his first four years at Marquette for former Duke player and assistant Steve Wojciechowski and Jones played down the road at Davidson for Bob McKillop. Don't forget to stay in touch with the DBR Podcast at dbrpodcast at gmail.com, fill out our soon-to-close survey at tinyurl.com/dbrpodcastsurvey, and keep your podcast feed up to date as more news comes out of the Duke program this spring. FTGOTG S2, E7 | Episode 7 demonstrates why the game of football and the coaching profession are a perfect marriage.  Our conversation with Coaches Art Kehoe and Mark Evans is not just about University of Miami football.  It's a celebration of the memories and respect two colleagues (former coach and player) can build and maintain!Coach Art Kehoe played as a 2-year letterman and Captain at the University of Miami.  He began his coaching career as a Student Assistant for the Canes in 1981, while finishing up his degree.  Art spent the next 20+ years working his way up through the staff at Miami, culminating with being the Assistant Head Coach & OL Coach from 2002 - 2005.  He's had the honor and privilege of coaching All-Conference honorees, All-Americans, as well as Outland and Remington Trophy award winners...not to mention the 20+ players he coached and mentored on their way to playing in the NFL.  Coach Kehoe was on the staff for all five of Miami's National Championships and he was appropriately enshrined in the UM Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002!Coach Mark Evans is a School Counselor and the current Head Football Coach at Manheim Township HS in Lebanon, PA.  With 23+ years as a Counselor and High School Head Coach, he has accumulated a tremendous track record of success both on and off the field.  The students and athletes who join Mark's "huddle" benefit from his experience, calm demeanor, as well as his confident, caring approach.  Coach Evans' start in football was anything but typical, having played only his Senior year in High School.  After graduating, he ventured to Scottsdale Community College in Arizona to hone his skills and seek opportunities.  Mark's hard work and relative improvement garnered multiple D-1 offers, but he chose to join "The U" to pursue his college career.  His friendship with Coach Kehoe began in Arizona during a recruiting visit and (as they say)...the rest is history!Regardless of how long they go between conversations, these two maintain a strong bond of respect for one another.  Their relationship is emblematic of the trust and loyalty that is possible in the great game of football...two competitors learning and growing together, each changing the game...and the world in his own unique way!Intro music "Next Level" used under license by Composer Rujay Torres.

Mrs. Evans made waves on the net this fall when her What's Poppin video dropped. With Covid19 present and virtual learning launching in Albany, Georgia several teachers thought a music video would be an interactive way to start the school year! They were right. The videos went viral! Not only does Mrs. Evans have bars but she's a full time teacher and cheerleading coach. This busy lady also found time to create an organization named iHoop LLC. We discuss the transition to virtual learning this school year, why she started iHoop and she dropped some encouraging words to young females that aspire to Hoop Like A Girl. Web: www.ihoopllc.com Follow: @ihoopllc_ A Word From Founder Mrs. Callie Evans: It wasn't until I was nine years old when I started to play basketball. I played other sports prior to and beyond that age and enjoyed the variety of them all, however, no other sport gave me the feeling like basketball did. I grew to love the sport during middle school. Even though I could hoop, often times I would get teased for being "too girly" on the court. My inspiration for iHoop, LLC is to demonstrate that girls can be girls while competing in sports, as we are not less of an athlete by just being ourselves; we can embrace our feminine side because we ARE different from boys and being different is OK. It has always been a passion of mine to focus on the femininity because, as girls, we have specific needs that get overlooked and taken for granted, until now. I have played basketball on many levels, starting with parks and recreation, middle and high schools, AAU, college, and semi-professional. At an early age, I began coaching little league and then with Special Olympics. I moved on to coach high school as an Assistant Coach of Varsity, Head Coach of Junior Varsity, and an Assistant Head Coach on the College level. My experience in coaching has given me a firsthand look at the dynamics of interacting with girls and basketball. I went as far as becoming a referee because learning all aspects of the game of basketball was important to me. I want iHoop to be a great experience for young ladies, but most importantly, I want all to know that it is ok to Hoop Like A Girl!
