    Although it was already an impressive structure, Lemp used his massive brewery fortune to turn the thirty-three room house into a Victorian showplace. However, tragedy and misfortune struck the Lemp family and, by the time the brewery closed in 1919, it was the site of several suicides in the family along with a few untimely and mysterious deaths. Paranormal experts say that sudden and tragic deaths can cause spirits to become stuck, or earth-bound to the places they died.     As schoolchildren, we're taught about the founding of America. Like most countries, we have a rich, fascinating, and imperfect history. Colonists came over from England and established settlements, often clashing with the residing Native Americans. Life was hard, full of starvation, disease, and conflict. We have preserved much of this history—you can visit Plymouth Rock and a replica of the Mayflower in Massachussetts today, or stop by Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia and tour historic buildings and reenactments of early American life. But for all of our preservation and knowledge of colonial history, we still have no idea what happened to the lost colony of Roanoke or its many residents, who disappeared without a trace by 1590.     Ep 06: The Bell Witch

    It began when John Bell witnessed a strange, unnatural creature which vaguely resembled a dog. It ended with Bell's death.  In the sleepy town of Adams, Tennessee on a small family farm, one of the most infamous American paranormal events occurred over a period of four years. From late 1816 to 1820, the Bell family was tormented by an entity that came to be known as the Bell Witch. A driver on a dark, foggy road late at night comes upon a woman in a beautiful dress. Against his better judgment, the driver gives her a ride home. Eventually, the ghostly rider disappears, leaving the driver wondering who…or what, he just had in his car. Chicago's Resurrection Mary is perhaps America's most famous iteration of the haunted hitchhiker legend. But is there some truth to this particular tale?
