Our favorite month begins with a goth take on American folklore with one of our favorite filmmakers - and two hilariously stoned hosts! We're talking Tim Burton's SLEEPY HOLLOW from 1999! The team takes a look at the American legend, and how a filmmaker at the top of his game snatched the story from a make up effects artist and ultimately made a way better film. It's a little more complicated than that but they get into it! There's talk of peanut butter ramen, the Depp/Burton duo, and a whole lot of nostalgia. Happy October everyone! Even more great picks coming soon! Classic Horror 2 by Kevin MacLeod  Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License

Dripping in the antique spookiness of Old New England, this story is a great introduction to one of the 20th Century's most important authors.   Follow us on Instagram at govppod for Vegas history content, or contact me directly at govphost@gmail.com for your questions, concerns, and emotional outbursts.

Warner Bros executive George Feltenstein is joined by horror expert and filmmaker Constantine Nasr to discuss the October 2022 Blu-ray releases from the Warner Archive.  We kick off the discussion with a revisit of the 1957 Hammer Horror classic  THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN" starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, and directed by Terence Fisher.  Constantine Nasr reviews the extras he produced for this release during the height of COVID and George explains the reason for the 2-disc Special Edition.Next, we discuss the restoration of the 1935 horror classic "Mark of the Vampire" starring Lionel Barrymore, Lionel Atwill, Bela Lugosi as the Vampire, and directed by Tod Browning.  This film has been described as a remake of Brownings lost 1927 silent film "London After Midnight."  And finally, we discuss the restoration and historical importance of the pre-code horror classic "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" (1931) starring Fredric March who won an Oscar for his portrayal of both Jekyll and Hyde, Miriam Hopkins, and Rose Hobart. George provides background on the restoration and history behind the film, including the ground-breaking direction by Rouben Mamoulian.  Film historian Constantine previews his audio commentary with Dr. Steve Haberman, which is new to the release and provides fascinating revelations about missing scenes, risqué visuals actually cut from the film for many years, and the importance of this film along with Dracula and Frankenstein, in ushering in a new age of horror to the talkies.Purchase on Amazon:Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931) Blu-rayMark of the Vampire (1935) Blu-rayThe Curse of Frankenstein Blu-rayOtaku Media produces podcasts, behind-the-scenes extras, and media that connect creatives with their fans and businesses with their consumers.  Contact us today to see how we can work together to achieve your goals.  www.otakumedia.tv

We cover the beginnings of Wes Craven, the baptist born professor who left everything to work on porno, only to somehow land in horror! There was a lot of steps in-between. Oh and did he make people MAD. We later come back to Craven after establishing a successful career, and getting a shot and retelling his first tale in one of the most brutal eras of horror. There's angry christians, disinterested critics, torn friendships, crazy method actors, and more to bring in the new season! It feels good to be back! 5 stars for season 5, yeah? The cast of There's Someone Inside Your House was excited to sit down with us to talk about how this movie is paying homage to those that came before it, such as Scream and Halloween -- while forging its own path. We spoke with Sydney Park, Théodore Pellerin, Asjha Cooper, Jesse LaTourette, Dale Whibley & Diego Josef -- as well as -- Director Patrick Brice & screenwriter Henry Gayden. The cast discussed why the horror genre was so fun, the killer's weird twist, and how they were able to accomplish some good scares. Brice and Gayden add their thoughts on the genre and why they think it needed a makeover. Host: Monica Gleberman Editor: Polina Jdanova Social Media Graphic: Jojo -- Synopsis: Makani Young has moved from Hawaii to quiet, small-town Nebraska to live with her grandmother and finish high school, but as the countdown to graduation begins, her classmates are stalked by a killer intent on exposing their darkest secrets to the entire town, terrorizing victims while wearing a life-like mask of their own face. With a mysterious past of her own, Makani and her friends must discover the killer's identity before they become victims themselves. THERE'S SOMEONE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE is based on Stephanie Perkins' New York Times best-selling novel of the same name and written for the screen by Henry Gayden (Shazam!), directed by Patrick Brice (Creep), and produced by James Wan's Atomic Monster (The Conjuring) and Shawn Levy's 21 Laps (Stranger Things). On this episode of Death By DVD we've gone on holiday by mistake. The 1987 British black comedy WITHNAIL & I is discussed at length! Possibly the quintessential British movie, join THE Linus Fitness-Centre & Harry-Scott as they pour a shot of lighter fluid and get into the politics of WITHNAIL & I. Two out-of-work actors -- the anxious, luckless Marwood (Paul McGann) and his acerbic, alcoholic friend, Withnail (Richard E. Grant) -- spend their days drifting between their squalid flat, the unemployment office and the pub. When they take a holiday "by mistake" at the country house of Withnail's flamboyantly gay uncle, Monty (Richard Griffiths), they encounter the unpleasant side of the English countryside: tedium, terrifying locals and torrential rain. This is an episode you DON'T wanna miss! And remember all hairdressers are in the employment of the government. Hair are your aerials. They pick up signals from the cosmos and transmit them directly into the brain. This is the reason bald-headed men are uptight.HEY, while you're still here.. have you heard...DEATH BY DVD PRESENTS : WHO SHOT HANK? The first of its kind (On this show, at least) an all original narrative audio drama exploring the murder of this shows very host, HANK THE WORLDS GREATEST!
