He gets into music as a means of expression and an outlet, how it helps people connect with one another, how it helps us process through things, and so much more. Hey friends! This is the last episode in the series I've been doing about growing closer to Jesus and I'm excited about this last episode! It's a shorter one where things are wrapped up and one final point is explored. In this one, we focus on just how involved Jesus is in our day to day lives. He is present and near and working, always. This is a big part of growing closer to him because in this we see the depth of how much he truly cares for us and the level of detail to which he is involved & invested in our lives as well as in the lives of everyone in the world around us. Hey friends :) this one is all about growing closer to Jesus through life storms. We go all in today about our hardest moments and what God is doing in the midst of them. How Jesus is the safest place for us in the hardest storms and the level to which he cares so deeply for us in them strengthens our relationship with him and grows us closer. The hardest times are just that- incredibly hard. They are sacred spaces; we have big feelings and we go through such real things and God is doing deep work in it all. Prayer is a great tool for growing closer to Jesus. Sometimes, we can have misconceptions about prayer. How can those effect the way that we view God? I get into that in today's episode and specifically address how we can experience prayer when in the middle of a storm. Sometimes we can feel like God is far away, dormant, not listening, or maybe even that he doesn't care. What is really going on in those times? Something that I have come to see is that God is so much more involved than we sometimes think. He is working and doing immeasurably more right where we are; whether that's in the middle of our darkest moments or at any other time of our lives. He cares so deeply about our hearts- the very core of who we are and is so present with us even when he might feel far. Today on the show I am continuing to talk about connection, with the focus shifting towards growing closer to and connecting deeper with Jesus. This is the first episode in a series that I'm kicking off about growing closer to Jesus; in other episodes in the series we'll get into different topics that relate to this one. Today I talk about where I think it's most important to start when growing closer to him- and that's knowing who he is. Meaning more specifically, what is his heart like? What is his love like? What is his heart towards me? What does connection with him look like and what does it even mean to connect deeper with him? We are kicking off this series today and diving into these questions and more. I'm so excited to share these episodes with you, friends! If you have questions or something you'd like to share about the topic of growing closer to Jesus, send me a DM! I'd love to hear from you & chat- I might even feature your question in a future episode if you'd want me to address it more in depth on the podcast. Happy listening! Welcome back, friends. The Grace Upon Grace Podcast is back and here with a new season! In today's episode, I am getting into the topic of mental health. This show is essentially meant to be empowering and encouraging to anyone listening, as I talk about some needs that we all have as humans. Towards the end, I address stress & anxiety and share about some practical things that have been helpful for me when it comes to those things. This episode is all about believing in ourselves, especially during times when we feel stuck. Things can feel hopeless or insurmountable; like we can't do something or that things cannot get better. This episode is speaking directly to that and is there to help you believe in yourself and see that there is so much more to the story when we feel stuck. Scripture talks about the "immeasurably more" that God does; I dive into that and what I've noticed about the more in my own life & how that relates to the times when we feel stuck. We talk about things like the beauty and strength that can come from a seemingly hopeless situation, how God is working right where we are and is in the middle of real life with us, what some practical things are that we can do when we feel stuck, etc. I also answer two important questions: why believe in ourselves & why believe that there is more? There is room for seriousness and there is room for fun in our lives. In this episode, we are getting into the importance of light & fun. I have come to find that lightheartedness & fun can be a real source of comfort, especially when things are hard. Welcome to Season 3! On this episode of the podcast, me and Amy King are talking about listening, learning, and understanding when it comes to racial discrimination and reconciliation. We invite you into this conversation with us, all are welcome. We acknowledge that we will make mistakes along the way as we actively speak out against racism. We are learning and in that process things won't always come out exactly right. We ask for your grace. We know that we have no option but to speak out, it is ignited on our hearts to do so. Jesus went straight to the hurting, oppressed, and marginalized. He did not pause or ask questions first. He went. A quote that Amy shared from her most recent blog post sums up quite well what we talk about in this episode; "Where there are people suffering, God is there. As God's people, we need to be there too." Join us as we talk about the necessity and significance of listening, learning, and understanding. Much love, friends. *Romans 2:4- "...God's kindness is intended to lead you to repentance..." My mom is on the show today! She is talking to us about her experience of being a homeschool parent. Right now, so many parents are navigating schooling at home. Me and my mom sit down and talk about her time of being a homeschool mom, why she decided to homeschool, what helped her do it along the way, what God has taught her through it, and encouragement she has for others who are in the thick of it right now. I also share some of my experiences and stories, including a funny one of how I learned about what lane not to drive through at an elementary school. It was great having my mom on the show this week. She can speak to being a parent and schooling at home because she has experienced it and did it for many years. We are here for the parents who are educating their kids at home and hope that this episode serves as a reminder that you are not alone, and you can do this! I wrote the words "Always More" on my graduation cap. Here's why- God does immeasurably more than we could ever ask for or imagine. That is true all the time, and there was no exception to that as I went through college. I am sharing all about my thoughts and feelings on school and graduating, what God has done and taught me over these years, how my graduation day was way more than I expected, and how you are SO able to chase your dreams.
