The need for humor and for incorporating something of the clown's state of mind into spiritual practice is discussed. Bernie Glassman was a Zen master who invited Moshe Cohen, a clown performer, to help him learn tools to work with students who were taking themselves too seriously. The clown doesn't know what will happen when he or she enters the stage. His improvisation is about encounters with everything he comes in contact with--inside and outside. The clown lives in the present and has no history, no aim to say anything universal. He shows us his weaknesses and passions and mirrors our foibles, but not so that we see who we are. He is just being himself and so expresses our humanness in a non-judgmental way, which is why we like him. The clown's empathetic nature innocently addresses others' ailments. He is without self-importance, a nothing who is interested in everything, who inspires optimism and faces problems without being discouraged. He moves diagonally and plays with problems until they solve themselves. By not being ashamed to be foolish, to look at different sides of himself as he is, the clown explores contradictions that we don't see in ourselves, which is funny. Self-obsession makes us heavy when we take our minds so seriously. Humor can feed practice and lighten our spirit and the path. The true art of humor is always humor at oneself. We all have a funny part of ourselves which has often been repressed in childhood. Humor comes from creativity, not the logical mind. All we have to practice with is ourselves; our sensations are the path to intuition. We can invite lightness into our awareness by taking a breath. Some people see a city as streets, buildings, and infrastructure. Troy Innocent sees it as a playground.A BMX-riding, LEGO-city-building, world-maker from childhood, Troy never stopped playing. But instead of keeping it to himself, he turned his playful instinct into The Future Play Lab.At RMIT, Troy is transforming how people interact with public spaces through speculative design, urban play, Indigenous knowledge and augmented reality experiences like 64 Ways of Being. From risky play in childhood to playful interventions in cityscapes, Troy and The Future Play Lab are proving that play isn't just fun; it's how we reimagine the world. ______________________Hello there! We're Dr. Jane Hession and Ronan Healy. Dr Innocent (he/they) is an urban play scholar, artist, game maker and Director of the future play lab at RMIT University in Narrm Melbourne. The lab develops socially engaged and site-responsive urban play connecting experimental game design, public space, posthuman methods, and creative technologies. Working with the city as a material, their approach to reworlding develops posthuman methods that reimagine, reconfigure and reconnect with the world. This involves transdisciplinary practices across design, sculpture, animation, sound, light and installation using methods of multiplatform storytelling that connect objects with their environment to build speculative worlds that playfully defamiliarise and disrupt urban life.Troy has 25 years of experience in gallery-based exhibitions, symposia and site-specific projects, developing augmented reality games that blend physical objects with digital interfaces to reimagine everyday urban environments in playful ways, situating his work in Aarhus, Melbourne, Bristol, Barcelona, Istanbul, Ogaki, Sydney, Tampere and Hong Kong. Leviticus 4: The Sin Offering Leviticus 4 provides detailed instructions about the sin offering, a key part of the sacrificial system designed to atone for unintentional sins and maintain the holiness of God's people. It outlines the process for various groups within the Israelite community, emphasizing the seriousness of sin and the necessity of purification. Key Elements of Leviticus 4 1.Purpose of the Sin Offering •The sin offering was meant to atone for unintentional sins or sins committed in ignorance, acknowledging that even unintentional actions could defile individuals or the community before God. •It emphasized God's holiness and the need for cleansing and forgiveness. 2.Categories of Sinners The chapter identifies specific groups and provides instructions based on the sinner's role and status: •The Anointed Priest (verses 3–12): If the high priest sinned, it brought guilt upon the entire community because of his role as their spiritual representative. A young bull was to be sacrificed, with its blood sprinkled inside the sanctuary. •The Whole Congregation (verses 13–21): If the entire community unintentionally sinned, a young bull was sacrificed on their behalf. The process included sprinkling the blood before the veil of the sanctuary and burning the rest of the bull outside the camp. •A Leader (verses 22–26): If a leader sinned, they were to bring a male goat. The blood was applied to the altar of burnt offering, symbolizing atonement. •An Individual (verses 27–35): Common people who sinned unintentionally were to bring a female goat or lamb as their offering. This demonstrated that atonement was available to all, regardless of social or spiritual standing. 3.The Ritual Process •The sinner was required to bring the offering to the Lord, symbolizing personal responsibility for their sin. •The sinner laid their hand on the head of the animal, signifying the transfer of guilt. •The animal was slaughtered, and its blood was applied to the altar, symbolizing purification and atonement. •Specific parts of the animal were burned, and in some cases, the rest was disposed of outside the camp, symbolizing the removal of sin. 4.Prohibition Against Consuming Blood The sacred use of blood in the ritual highlighted its significance in atonement, as life is in the blood (Leviticus 17:11). Theological Themes 1.The Seriousness of Sin Even unintentional sins required atonement, underscoring God's holiness and the pervasive nature of sin. No sin could be overlooked or ignored. 2.God's Provision for Forgiveness The sin offering demonstrated God's grace and His willingness to forgive when people approached Him with repentance and obedience. 3.Representation and Responsibility The varying sacrifices for priests, leaders, and individuals reflected the influence of sin based on one's role. The more responsibility someone had, the greater their accountability. 4.Substitutionary Atonement The offering of an animal's life in place of the sinner pointed to the concept of substitutionary atonement, later fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Relevance for Today 1.Jesus as the Ultimate Sin Offering The sacrificial system in Leviticus foreshadows the perfect atonement provided by Jesus Christ. Hebrews 10:4-10 explains that His sacrifice replaced the need for repeated offerings, making permanent atonement for sin. 2.Awareness of Sin Leviticus 4 reminds believers to examine their lives and remain sensitive to sin, even when unintentional, and to seek God's forgiveness. 3.God's Grace and Mercy The sin offering illustrates God's provision for His people to remain in fellowship with Him. Today, believers can confidently approach God through faith in Christ, knowing He forgives and cleanses (1 John 1:9). Leviticus 4 ultimately points to the need for a Savior and encourages believers to live lives of repentance, holiness, and gratitude for God's grace.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sendme-radio--732966/support.
Case Interview Preparation & Management Consulting | Strategy | Critical Thinking
For this episode, let's revisit a Case Interview & Management Consulting classic where we discuss why you should bring energy to the interview. Lots of candidates leave it to the interviewer to determine the energy levels, tone and mood of the call. That is a bad idea. In our experience, the best candidates always bring a light mood to interviews. Seriousness can hurt you as it is confused for anxiousness. Delegating the mood to the interview is bad idea since it means the energy of the case will be largely out of your control. Moreover, unless you practice controlling the energy, it is unlikely you will have this skill to deploy in the case interview itself. How earnest conviction and dedication help us take care of what matters - our responsibilities and the people who depend on us. Send us a textIs the comforting notion of universal salvation merely a soothing myth that leads many astray? We challenge this controversial belief and assert the seriousness of eternal punishment as described in Christian doctrine. Our latest episode focuses on the critical need to understand what salvation truly means and why dismissing the idea of hell as eternal punishment can have perilous spiritual consequences. By examining particular redemption and the stark warnings given by Jesus Christ, we explore why fearing divine judgment is necessary for spiritual security.Join us as we explore Jesus' teachings in the New Testament, particularly from Luke 12:4-5, emphasizing the importance of spiritual vigilance. Jesus warns us about the fear we should have for God, who holds ultimate power over our souls beyond physical harm. We confront the notion of universal salvation, urging listeners to consider the gravity of ignoring these warnings and the eternal consequences of such neglect. This discussion underlines the importance of preparing oneself spiritually and living in submission to God to avoid the dire fate of eternal damnation. In our conclusion, we underscore the urgency of evangelism and the necessity of understanding the sacrificial significance of Christ's blood as the sole means of purging sin. We scrutinize the universalist perspective that views hell as mere purification, refocusing on traditional Christian views of hell as eternal penal retribution. Through scriptural references, we call upon Christians to defend their faith and share these critical truths to prevent eternal condemnation. This episode stands as a compelling invitation to probe deeper into one's faith, ensuring that beliefs are firmly rooted in the gospel's truth.Support the show
