Women Crushing It Wednesday

Ashley McBryde performed at The Rave this past Sunday night, and we got to talk in the trippy Prince backstage area. We talked about her time at the Grammys (including how she went crazy when Cardi B won), the great gifts Luke Combs and Miranda Lambert gave her, and her tips on how to get through the winter.

Lisa Gilson is one half of the fantastic team over at Giltee! They make awesome Milwaukee t-shirts, hats, and more, and they've only been doing it for a couple years. I am obsessed with their line, so I had to have Lisa in to talk about everything they have going on (which is a lot, and I'm super happy for their success so far!) and how they got started.

I first saw Little Blackbird Leather at the Holiday Boutique in November at State Fair Park, and I fell in love with these earrings! My friend and I bought 2 pairs each, and quickly became obsessed. I knew I had to have the owner, Ana Painter, on my Women Crushing It Wednesday podcast, and I'm so glad I did! It's so much more than just earrings .... it's about making women feel beautiful and loving what they're wearing..

This is the first time I've had a guy on for Women Crushing It Wednesday! Haley & Michaels, a husband & wife duo, played in our Performance Lounge, and then popped by the studio to record WCIW. They have a song out to radio now called "Taking Off", and they actually got engaged at Summerfest after playing there!

Heather Farr has her own wedding planning company, Heather Farr Events, and helps happy couples all over Southeastern Wisconsin. If you are planning a wedding, definitely check this out because she has some awesome tips on how you can save money ... since weddings these days average at about $40,000!!!

Amanda, the Owner of and Nutritionist, from Integrative Health & Wellness in Brookfield, WI was in studio this week for Women Crushing It Wednesday! She talked about how she helps her clients figure out what foods and products are making them not feel the greatest, and what made her want to start up her business. Our Market President and head Boss Lady, Colleen Valkoun, was in to talk about her experience with Integrative Health & Wellness too!

Lainey Wilson is on tour with Morgan Wallen and Hardy, and they played The Rave in Milwaukee on Saturday night. I heard her singing from backstage, and had to talk to her! She has such a fun stage presence, and girlfriend rocked it out by herself with just a guitar. Not only does she have great songs on her own, but she also loves doing covers live (like "Fat Bottomed Girls" for example). A clip of her song "Middle Finger" is at the end of our episode together too!

This time of year, we are ALL stressed out to the max, right? That's why I thought of Amber Fuller from One Source Wellness in Brookfield right away for Women Crushing It Wednesday! She does cupping treatments, which is basically a different and sometimes more effective type of massage. We talked about the kinds of patients she gets (which spoiler alert: is basically any and every one), and how the treatment works.

When I started my Women Crushing It Wednesday podcast, a couple of ladies in the country music industry really motivated me to want to do it. One of those ladies was Lindsay Ell because I noticed what a hard freaking worker she is by following her social media accounts. She is an absolute hustler, and AMAZING live. Not only can she sing her ass off, but she is also incredible on the guitar. Oh, and she's one of the sweetest people you will ever meet! Lindsay is a total rockstar.We talked about her album "The Continuum Project", her new single with Brantley Gilbert, and what she has to have with her when she travels.

Jillian Jacqueline caught me attention big time when I heard her song "If I Were You" with Keith Urban. Her voice is so unique, and I was so happy that I could sit down with her before she opened for Kip Moore the other night at the Riverside Theater. We talked about our mutual love for Tenille Townes and Alessia Cara, what cult show she's never watched, and who she would love to team up with in the pop world.

We all say we're super busy, right? Until you talk to that one person who is at least 10 times busier than you. One of those people in the radio industry is definitely Carla Marie from 106.1 KISS-FM in Seattle. She started off her radio career with the Elvis Duran Show, and then picked up and moved across the country with her BFF Anthony to start their own morning show. We talked about our mutual love for Danielle on Elvis' show, breaking the "normal woman" mode, and her "Side Hustlers" podcast that's also on our iHeartRadio app!

Dana Tyson is one of my iHeartRadio sisters. She has been on the Sunny 99.1 Morning Show in Houston for almost 30 years! Dana is as talented as she is sweet, and we talked about our time touring St. Jude together recently, and something she did that was beyond amazing last year at their Radiothon.

Kalie Shorr is basically the 2018 version of Taylor Swift .... sweet, clever songwriter, adorable, and great with a guitar! One of the things I really like about Kalie is how much she wants to see other females in the country music industry succeed. She's the type of girl that you don't have to question her motive when she's talking about you. She is genuine, and I wish her only the best with her career!

Dan O'Donnell created a podcast beast with "Rebutting A Murderer" after watching the one-sided story with "Making A Murderer" season 1 on Netflix. He's back at it again with season 2 on our iHeartRadio app, and I had some questions on the first couple of episodes.

Morgan Evans was in our Performance Lounge, and afterwards he sat down with me in the studio, We talked about writing songs for other artists, his relationship with his gorgeous & talented wife Kelsea Ballerini, and how they love binge-watching "This Is Us" in bed.

Dan O'Donnell from our sister station WISN covered the Steven Avery & Brendon Dassey trials, aka the subjects of Netflix's "Making A Murderer". He had the most successful iHeartRadio original podcast with "Rebutting A Murderer", and we talked about his time covering both cases right before season 2 of "Making A Murderer" comes out.

Carolynn from OnMilwaukee & I got to chat about Let's Brunch MKE and other local Milwaukee events she loves going to this week for Women Crushing It Wednesday!

Kerri Jokala, one of the Personal Trainers and class instructors at The Princeton Club, was in studio this week for Women Crushing It Wednesday! On top of working at the gym, she is also a mama, a singer, and a DJ for events! Listen to what she had to say about the foods we are eating (and how sometimes we don't even know what's in them), her lady crush when it comes to working out and her attitude, and .... wait for it ... what she's learned about leaky gut syndrome.

Bailey Coleman is one of the only female Program Directors I've met in the radio industry, and she's a total boss in that role and out. She tells it how it is, and she has a huge heart to match her big personality. We talked about how long she's been in the biz, her ginormous family, and Sister Strut coming up this weekend in Milwaukee!

My hometown team, the Buffalo Bills, take on the Green Bay Packers this weekend, and my friends from the Drew Olson Show on our sister station WOKY stopped by to talk predictions.

iHeartMedia Milwaukee's ultimate sweetheart and bad ass at the same time, Meg McKenzie from our sister station 95-7 BIG FM, stopped by for Women Crushing It Wednesday! We talked about the little lady in her life that she actually looks up to (or down, I guess?), her crazy adventure getting into radio, and how she fought to get noticed in the boys' club of radio. #GirlPower

Patrice, who owns the adorable boutique MOdE in Wauwatosa, swung by the studio for Women Crushing It Wednesday to talk fashion! We talked about the staples that every woman should have in their wardrobe, what's trending for Fall, and what famous ladies' style we love on social media.

Shannen O from the Morning Show worked her way up from intern to radio star.... and a CMA Award nominated one at that! We talked about what artists she's diggin' at the moment, the misconceptions some people have about the radio business, and how we as women are our worst critics.

Stephanie Quayle stopped by for Women Crushing It Wednesday, and man.... she is a spit fire! I had so much fun with her and her crazy accents, and hearing all about the other ladies in country music that have supported her in her career.

This week for Women Crushing It Wednesday, it's a lady whose music Walker Hayes introduced me to.... Tenille Townes! Her song "Somebody's Daughter" is AMAZING! We talked about her touring with Miranda and Little Big Town, her run in with a Backstreet Boy on her radio tour, and what female in the country music industry she would love to work with.

This week for Women Crushing It Wednesday, it's my first time highlighting a bad ass fellow radio lady ... Mari, Tige & Daniel's producer! We talked about her radio journey (including how she keeps those 2 in line), who her favorite stars are that she's met so far, and her go to places to have some fun at in Nashville.

For Women Crushing It Wednesday this week, we're keeping it local! Jenny Diliberti, the Public Relations Coordinator at the Milwaukee Zoo, stopped by to chat about Zoo a la Carte that starts tomorrow (8/16)! She also told me all about the exhibits at the Zoo that set MKE's apart from the rest!

Cole Swindell performed at the Wisconsin State Fair, and we got to chat before hand about how he started out his country music career, all of the songs he's written for other artists, and his love for Milwaukee & Summerfest!

Michael Ray opened for Cole Swindell at the Wisconsin State Fair, and we talked about his favorite fair foods, how he is clueless when it comes to being hit on, and his love for girlfriend Carly Pearce.

Women Crushing It Wednesday: Rachel Wammack is officially on the radio now with her song "Damage", and her fun personality & awesome voice are going to make her a star! She reminds me of Kellie Pickler. We talked about the big names she's met so far, what makes her cry, and who her lady crushes of country music are!

Carly Pearce is featured this week for my #WomenCrushingItWednesday! I asked her about her dream girl squad (which includes Meryl, Dolly, & JLo), how she & Michael Ray got together, and her favorite song to perform live.

For Women Crushing It Wednesday (7/25), Jen & Kristi from the Wisconsin State Fair stopped by to talk about their favorite parts of the fair, what new foods to check out, and the awesome shows they'll have on site!

Walker Hayes is one of the coolest guys in the country music industry. We talked about his dance influences, his favorite up & coming females in the industry, and what questions he's sick of answering in interviews.

Scotty McCreery told me all about his wedding day (including what song he had to have played at it), his favorite Fair food, and what his favorite songs to perform live are.

Jon Langston performed in our FM106.1 Lounge the other day, and we talked after about his love for Chick-fil-A, and how he once drank all of Luke Bryan's Miller Lites.

Riley Green looks like Scott Eastwood & Sam Hunt if they ever decided to make a Petri dish baby. He's got a great authentic country sound, and he's very charismatic. Look out, world, because Riley is on his way to stardom!

Abby Anderson is going to be the next "it" girl in country ... just you wait and see! She is my pick for Women Crushing it Wednesday this week. She has an amazing voice, and a fun & unique personality to go with it. We talked about her family's influence on her song "Make Him Wait", and her favorite podcasts!

Devin Dawson performed on our US Cellular Connection Stage at Summerfest, and we did a little Facebook Live action beforehand. He told us all about his tattoos, and how he has a lack of color in his wardrobe.

Jimmie Allen performed on our US Cellular Connection Stage at Summerfest, and Shannen & I got to talk to him beforehand. We asked him who he would like to work with in the future, and about his story when he was just starting out.

Caitlin Moyer, aka the genius social media lady behind "The Sandlot" video that the Brewers shot, stopped by the studio to talk social media, 4th of July plans at Miller Park, and her favorite female on social media.

Quinn and Shannen O got a chance to catch up with Billy Currington backstage at Summerfest. He dishes on his dream collaboration - meanwhile, Quinn's trying to convince him to sing "Party for 2" as a duet with her and Shannen's asking for seafood recommendations.

For Women Crushing It Wednesday this week, I got to sit down with Tenille Arts after she performed in our Lounge. She is so unbelievably sweet, and her song "Cold Feet" will give you the chills. I also love her adoration for another Canadian country singer!

I had the opportunity to ride in a racecar with Arie Luyendyk Jr., aka THE bachelor from season 22 of "The Bachelor". We talked about the scariest thing he's ever done (which wasn't driving 200MPH, spoiler alert), his time on the show, and wedding planning.

This week on #WomenCrushingItWednesday: Jessica Meuse took 4th place on the 13th season of "America Idol". We talked about her time on that show, and the difference between the process there and with "The Voice". She's also a hardcore L.A. Kings fan, and it made me love her even more.
