Another "meh" day in the 608. Jean's last day for the week as she's heading to Nashville tomorrow on a bus trip with her daughters and some listeners. In the news this morning, another Ford recall on over 105,000 vehicles, a former Wisconsin Supreme Court justice has surrendered his law license, a bunch of glass doors & windows in downtown La Crosse were smashed last week, and the Brewers officially released the info on Uecker Day at Miller Park later this season. We let you know what's new on New Release Tuesday & what's on TV tonight. Grant Bilse is in Iceland this week, so we didn't get a call from him today. But we did talk about last night's NCAA men's National Championship game, the Bucks & Brewers both playing tonight, and the new commits for the WI Badgers basketball team. Elsewhere in sports, Packers President Mark Murhpy is confident that the "tush push" will eventually get banned by the NFL, an assistant GM with the Detroit Tigers got fired for sending pics of his wiener to some female staffers, and a California man is in big trouble for selling fraudulent memorabilia. Brian's leaving later this month to see Metallica in Nashville, and he might be donating some blood while in Music City after the band teamed up with the Red Cross to run blood drives in the cities they are touring in. Cool story about a dog that's been missing for FIVE years that just recently got reunited with it's owner thanks to some frat bros. Spring cleaning isn't just for your closets and kitchens…maybe you should be looking at doing a digital cleaning this Spring? And in case you've been living under a rock, we had the latest on the #Florida fishing charter captain who went viral late last week. In New Mexico, criminal charges have been filed for a JV baseball player who allegedly urinated in an opposing team's water jug. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about people's faith in ChatGPT, a massage that caused a stroke, a bunch of kids that shoved their younger brother into a claw machine, a #Florida McDonald's employee who assaulted a customer over some ranch dressing, and a guy in Texas who burned his girlfriend with soup. Holy thunderstorms, Batman! The sky was lit-up during the overnight with lightning and rain cleaned up some of that sand on the roads. But clearing up for a beautiful Friday afternoon with high temps in the upper-70's! Unfortunately, it's going to crash back into the 40's this weekend with some snow possible. In the news this morning, a sentencing in a 50 year cold case in Dunn County, Elon Musk paid a man in Green Bay $1 million for signing a petition, around 60 Macy's stores will be closing soon, Governor Tony Evers launched a job portal for federal workers who got fired under the Trump administration, and a teacher in Wauwatosa is in some hot water after an email from 2023 surfaced where she referred to an eighth grader as a "hooker". In sports, the Brewers kicked off the regular season with a 4-2 loss to the Yankees in New York yesterday, the Bucks are back at home tonight against the Knicks, and the men's Sweet 16 kicked off last night. The men's & women's Sweet 16 continues tonight. Elsewhere in sports, NBA commissioner Adam Silver finally admitted that this year's All-Star Game was an unmitigated disaster and that the league is going "back to the drawing board". We let you know what's on TV this weekend and what's in theaters. And Doc joined us at 8:15am for the Racing Report, courtesy of County Materials in Holmen. A new ice cream is set to hit grocery store shelves that apparently tastes like breast milk, without using any actual breast milk. The FBI has recognized three young girls in the Seattle area who helped stop an attempted kidnapping last year…and check out this eighth grader who invented a seizure-detection device for her grandmother! Talk about a bright future! ICYMI, Hard Mt. Dew Code Red is coming out sometime this year and they're running a contest to "Save the Redheads". Also, Instacart is adding a new feature to help with poor substitutions when the item you ordered isn't available. If you're looking for a side hustle, there are "loyalty testers" out there who apparently get paid to lure people in committed relationships into cheating on their partner. And not that you need a reason/excuse to go on a vacation, but we talked about some signs that it might be time to take a few days off work. We talked last week about some of the new food items at Miller Park this year...and today we discussed some of the other interesting food offerings throughout the rest of the league in 2025. In today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about an idiot in California who broke into someone's house to commit a robbery while wearing an ankle monitor, a Michigan resident who died after receiving an organ transplant that was infected with rabies, a "cat butt" video game, a police chief that's accused of turning his station into something out of "Animal House", and a plumber that re-clogged a pipe after a restaurant refused to pay it's bill!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Send us a text"Is there any chance you might have polio?" That unforgettable question from Terry Francona to Sean Casey after getting thrown out twice in two days perfectly captures the essence of baseball culture—where humor transforms frustration and builds lasting relationships.Sean "The Mayor" Casey joins us for a captivating conversation that feels like sitting in the dugout with one of baseball's most beloved personalities. With infectious enthusiasm and storytelling prowess, Casey shares remarkable moments from his 12-year MLB career and his successful transition to broadcasting. From growing up a Pirates fan to hitting the first home run at PNC Park (ironically as a Cincinnati Red), Casey's baseball journey has poetry written all over it. He remains the only player in MLB history to record the first hit in two different ballparks—Milwaukee's Miller Park and Pittsburgh's PNC Park—earning his bat a place in Cooperstown.Casey offers fascinating insights into his brief but impactful experience as Yankees hitting coach in 2023, revealing why it might be "the hardest job in sports." His observations about the relationships between players, coaches, and managers illuminate how trust can transform careers. The way Jack McKeon's simple vote of confidence turned his rookie season around proves that sometimes leadership isn't about mechanical tweaks—it's about human connection. What makes this conversation truly special is Casey's perspective on failure. "Failure is information," he says, "not an indication of worth." After 17 years at MLB Network—longer than his playing career—Casey's passion for baseball remains undimmed, reminding us why they call him "The Mayor" of the game.Have you ever had a coach who transformed your confidence with just a few words? Table Setters: A Baseball Podcast

Welcome to Episode 54 of TableSetters! This week, we're diving into the latest MLB news and major offseason moves. From the passing of broadcasting legend Bob Uecker to big signings and looming contract negotiations, we've got it all covered. We begin with the somber news of Bob Uecker's passing at 90. The beloved voice of the Milwaukee Brewers for over 54 years, Uecker's humor, charm, and storytelling made him a national treasure, transcending the sport of baseball. His legacy lives on through two statues at Miller Park and his Hall of Fame induction in 2003. We reflect on his impact and the void left in the baseball world. Next, we break down the Dodgers' blockbuster signing of Japan's top pitching prospect, Roki Sasaki. Sasaki's triple-digit fastball and devastating splitter add another elite arm to an already stacked Dodgers rotation, featuring Shohei Ohtani, Yamamoto, and Blake Snell. But his decision to join Los Angeles is a tough blow for both the Padres and Blue Jays. We discuss how this move reshapes the NL West and what it means for the Dodgers' title aspirations. The Dodgers continue to dominate the headlines, with the signing of Tanner Scott to a four-year, $72MM deal. The high-powered lefty reliever adds depth to an already elite bullpen, which could help propel Los Angeles toward another championship run. We analyze Scott's career trajectory and what this deal means for the Dodgers' future payroll. We also take aim at the Dodgers' deferring payroll, questioning whether this trend is detrimental to baseball in the long term. We dive into how such financial maneuvers impact the sport's competitive balance and whether it's setting a troubling precedent for other teams. In other team news, the Mets made waves with their two-year, $22MM acquisition of A.J. Minter, bolstering their bullpen with a dynamic southpaw. We also discuss the Mets' moves regarding Pete Alonso, as contract talks hit a roadblock, and what this means for the team's long-term outlook. Finally, we reflect on the Cubs' payroll struggles, as owner Tom Ricketts responds to fan complaints about the team's spending. With a budget nearing $220MM, we analyze the Cubs' offseason moves and their potential impact on the team's chances in 2025. Follow us for more:

As much as I love Fridays, today just doesn't have the same feeling after yesterday's tragic news about Mr. Baseball, Bob Uecker. As a lifelong Red Sox fan, my love of Ueck comes from his time on TV in "Mr. Belvedere" and in the "Major League" films. After moving here in 2003, and listening to him on WKTY throughout the years, along with trips to Miller Park, and seeing how revered he is here, I now have a much better appreciation of his life & career. He'll be missed greatly. Elsewhere in the news this morning, more on the wildfires in LA, including a house that survived the fires only to be split in half by a mudslides, info on an upcoming benefit concert, and Biden's decision on TikTok. In sports, we talked about tonight's Bucks game and tomorrow' Badger game against USC, and looked at this weekend's NFL divisional round matchups. Plus, Ovi scored another goal last night to get closer to Gretzky's record, and the WWE & TNA just signed a new agreement. We let you know what's on TV this weekend and what's new in theaters. Also had a story about a woman who pretended to order a pizza when she was actually calling the cops to rescue her from a dire situation. A recent survey found that only 1% of Americans can fall asleep in under a minute, and Progresso soups just released something called "Soup Drops". A bill to honor the "Miracle on Ice" USA hockey team has been reintroduced to Congress. Hopefully, it passes this time! And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a drunk Southwest Airlines pilot, a couple of former daycare workers that were drugging the kids to get them to sleep, a woman who raped a boy that was living with her and recently gave birth to his child, and a woman who recently paid off her mortgage lost the house to the California wildfires. The Cabin is presented by the Wisconsin Counties Association and this week we're featuring Milwaukee County; https://www.wicounties.org/counties/milwaukee-county/ The Cabin is also presented by Group Health Trust: https://www.wcaght.org/   Campfire Conversation: Milwaukee uses its area code - 414 - to celebrate "414 Day" on April 14th. Across the city and county on that day, a variety of celebrations are held at a variety of bars, restaurants, museums... even the county park system and Summerfest get into it with pricing specials. In this episode, Ana, Eric, and Jake cover some historic notes about Milwaukee, beginning with its origins as a Native American settlement where wild rice grew and tribes gathered to trade as three rivers came together at Lake Michigan. Early incarnations of the city and county as named by European settlers included "Milwacky" and "Milwaukie" before the current spelling was settled upon - including through an interesting story involving one of the city's newspapers. The city was originally three warring settlements that realized they were chasing settlers away with their infighting and united as the City of Milwaukee in 1846. This port city began to grow steadily, drawing in a variety of newcomers who were especially influential initially from England and the eastern United States; immigration grew heavy in the late 19th century from Germany, Poland, Ireland, and Italy. The growth helped create a City Hall that was the Tallest Inhabited Building in the World when it opened; this is the time when Milwaukee emerged as a major center for beer brewing and industrial machinery, along with inventiveness. The typewriter and keyboard, the outboard motor, cordless grinders, the answering machine, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and a wide variety of tools and technology in both industry and medicine were created in today's 414, aka Milwaukee County. These led to many large industries that employed an often heavily unionized workforce well into the 20th century. But like other cities and industrial centers that flourished well past the post-World War II period, the 1960s and 1970s brought industrial decline as manufacturers began moving many operations either south within the country or to other countries. We discuss some of the economic and social issues that proved challenging in Milwaukee, as it did across the country, as the city began to grapple with more poverty and the issues around shifting to a more service-oriented economy. The city's sports history also comes into play, especially with baseball and basketball, and its penchant for celebration continues to be evident in many festivals, from ethnic heritage to one of the world's largest music festivals in Summerfest. Today, Milwaukee still grapples with issues but thrives in many ways, with a healthy downtown, numerous universities, and a variety of neighborhoods and districts offering wide options for living, working, and playing. The city's culinary scene is currently featured on Bravo's "Top Chef" along with the rest of Wisconsin, and the Republican National Convention will be hosted this summer. Milwaukee's history has a lot of fascinating twists and turns, join us for a "414 Day" look and salute on The Cabin!  Inside Sponsors:Washington County: https://www.visitwashingtoncounty.com/ReMax Realty: https://homes.discoverwisconsin.com/

A scary injury to Willy Adames and a bad weekend series against San Francisco clouded a week that nonetheless ended with the Brewers still clinging to first place in the National League Central. Brewers reporter Todd Rosiak and host JR Radcliffe discuss the fallout of losing Adames in such a scary manner. It's the latest injury for the team to navigate, though the team's starting-pitching depth had a good week (we didn't even mention Julio Teheran!). Jesse Winker's struggles have become one of the toughest things for the offense to overcome. Ken Rosenthal said earlier in the week that Corbin Burnes might be the top pitcher available on the trade market; does that sound plausible? Plus, a Remembrew When that looks back at a swift and memorable doubleheader in 1971. Then, JR sits down with one of the hottest hitters in the league, Milwaukee native Owen Miller, who talks about his memories at Miller Park, the surging Wisconsin baseball scene and his role as an opponent in an unforgettable Brewers moment two years ago. Yesterday, Pete Alonso became the third Met with a multi-homer game in Milwaukee, joining Mike Piazza in 2001 and 2005, and Carlos Beltrán in 2005 (the day after Piazza, in fact). The Mets, of course, lost 7-6, falling to 2-2 all-time in these games. The Polar Bear also tied the Mets' team record for career home runs at the former Miller Park, joining Piazza, Curtis Granderson, and David Wright with five. Alonso has done it in 12 games and 52 plate appearances, combined to 14 and 58 for Piazza, 14 and 61 for Granderson, and 31 and 145 for Wright. The Mets' record for Milwaukee homers, though, still belongs to Piazza with eight, thanks to his three dingers at County Stadium. Next on the list, with six, is Frank Thomas, who blasted off half a dozen times from 1962-64, and still does have the Mets' single-ballpark Milwaukee career home run record for now.You can tell that a place has bad mojo for the Mets when a positive record, even one this particular, still stands from 1962. The bar is on the floor, and as we saw this week, when they get to Wisconsin, the Mets still have no idea how to clear it. This is a public episode. The Mets took a good, old-fashioned pounding on Monday afternoon, giving up 10 runs to the Brewers after having allowed only eight runs in the first four games of the season, combined, while taking three out of four in Miami. What's worse, they disappointed Chrystal and Colleen, who made the trip to Cream City to see that mess.Maybe the Mets felt weird being in Wisconsin. After all, I've said on multiple podcasts now that Milwaukee feels like a later-in-the-year trip for the boys in orange and blue.Turns out, that's right. It's been a long time since the Mets were in Milwaukee in April. Here's when they've gone over the last several years.2022: September2021: September2020: No trip2019: May2018: May2017: May2016: June2015: June2014: July2013: July2012: September2011: June2010: May2009: June/July2008: September2007: July/August2006: May2005: May2004: August2003: May2002: August2001: AprilIt's been 22 years since the Mets were in Milwaukee this early in the year, and even longer since they actually won a game in Milwaukee in the first month of the baseball calendar. The 2001 Mets, on their first trip to Miller Park, lost 6-4, 7-2, and 12-8 to what wound up being a 94-loss Brewers team. The Mets' last win in Milwaukee in April was at County Stadium, on April 12, 1998, as Turk Wendell coughed up a lead for Brian Bohanon, and wound up vulturing the win thanks to John Olerud's tiebreaking two-run homer in the seventh inning. All time, the Mets are now 2-9 in Milwaukee in April, with both wins coming during that 1998 series. The other win was the day before the last one, with Rey Ordoñez driving in Butch Huskey with the winning run on a ninth-inning single after Bob Wickman intentionally walked Matt Franco. The Mets lost the opener of that series, which at the time continued a nearly 35-year losing streak in Milwaukee during April. The Mets had one previous trip there so early, the second series of the 1963 season… and got swept in four games by the Braves, including a walk-off two-run homer by Lee Maye off Tracy Stallard in the finale that helped set the tone for the Mets' decades of misery on whatever rare occasions they have to go to cheese country in April.
