Cynane Shay - Tinfoil Hats & Lizard People PART ONEDIVORCED: ChristianityCynane Shay is a nuclear engineer living in South Carolina. Her childhood in White Christian Nationalism normalized conspiracy theories like Obama Birtherism and the Biblical apocalypse; but 2020, with COVID and Qanon, finally made her realize something was deeply wrong. Now Cynane is writing a book, “Taking Off the Tinfoil Hat: How Lizard People and Space Lasers Dismantled my Christian Worldview,” to process the deconstruction of her fundamentalist evangelical faith and her propagandistic patriotism. Losing loved ones to the pandemic was a tragedy, but losing loved ones to the rabbit hole was its own tragedy that left too many of us with unresolved trauma and unanswered questions. So from Flat Earth to the IBLP cult to Jewish space lasers, Cynane pulled the thread, cracked her faith, and found the inseparable link between cults, conspiracy theories, and American White Christian Nationalism. There's no downside to New Zealand's latest 'golden visa' scheme, according to a former Labour Cabinet Minister. The Government's confirmed almost 200 applications have been received from overseas investors since settings loosened in April. Former Minister Stuart Nash, who launched golden visas in 2022, told Ryan Bridge it's not just about the financial investment. He says it's about the networks, connections, competencies, capabilities, and experience these people will bring to Aotearoa and the companies they're investing in. On today's episode, we're hitting record on a Friday—our favorite day to sit down and reflect—and we've got a lot to unpack. With June being Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, this conversation goes deep into what it really means to be strong, to wear the mask, and more importantly, what it looks like to take it off. We're talking about the internal battles men face daily, the lies we tell ourselves, and the need for real conversations, real community, and real healing. If you've ever felt the pressure to be "fine" when you're not, this one's for you. It's time to drop the act and get honest—because that's where the growth happens. Let's go. ...5 Insights from This Episode:Strength Isn't Silence — It's Honesty. Real strength comes from vulnerability and truth, not from pretending everything's okay. Being willing to say “I'm not doing great” takes more courage than staying silent. The Mask We Wear Is Heavy.Men often wear a mask of strength, success, and control—but underneath, many are struggling. Taking off the mask starts with real conversations and safe spaces to be yourself. You're Not Meant to Do Life Alone. The lone wolf mindset doesn't work. Growth, healing, and strength are found in the pack—in community, accountability, and surrounding yourself with people who care enough to check in and stay for the answer.Journaling Helps Reveal Patterns. Writing down your thoughts consistently creates clarity. It helps you recognize emotional patterns and mental health red flags you might otherwise miss in the daily chaos.Your Struggles Are a Calling, Not a Punishment. That weight you're carrying isn't a curse—it's a sign you're built for more. Instead of asking for the load to be lifted, ask for the strength to carry it and grow through it....One Truth: You can't fix what you won't face.Healing starts when you stop ignoring the hard stuff and choose to look it in the eye.
In this episode of The Offset Podcast we're asking & discussing the question - Is HDR really taking off?At first blush, the answer is yes, but the really, the answer is decidedly more nuanced. Specifics discussed in this episode include:HDR seems to be everywhere - streaming platforms, consumer electronics, professional gear with billions made in investmentWhile wildly available, access to HDR content is still often based on ‘level' of plan. Disconnect for consumers between HDR capable hardware and plansThe role the iPhone has played in helping spread HDRAlthough available & accessible, HDR is still widely weighted to the ‘higher end'. Mid and entry level productions aren't utilizing HDR. Why? And how can that change? The language of HDR has become conservative and very similar to SDR versions making differentiation harderA safe approach to HDR may be tied to derived downstream HDR and SDR performance. Investment in expensive gear (reference monitoring) for what many see as niche is also a contributing factorHow to sell and consistency in selling HDR content is importantMany feel that HDR is something that is being dictated to them…but for technical not creative reasonsImportant to remember HDR technology and workflows are still relatively newStunning HDR content does exist and shows what can be done (Ian Vertovec examples)Given artists space and time to work on HDR can produce amazing resultsIf you like the show be sure to like and subscribe where ever you find The Offset Podcast

Chris & Filly are joined with Marjolein Akkerman for a dynamic, spirally, passionate conversation on using conscious dance and movement to help slow down, connect with your self and your body, and essentially take off “the mask” you've been hiding behind. We were lucky enough to have the lovely Marjolein come into our Ending Body Burnout Method as a guest presenter, to take our clients through an experiential body-mind dance session - it was the best! About Marjolein Akkerman Marjolein is a certified teacher of Sacred Circle Dance and 5Rhythms®, with a Bachelor of Arts degree and over 30 years of experience in dance and the arts. Her lifelong fascination with the body and movement has been shaped not only by passion but also by physical challenges that at times limited her mobility. These experiences became powerful teachers, deepening her curiosity and sparking a long exploration of what movement really means—and what moves us from within. Through this journey, Marjolein found her purpose: to teach freestyle conscious dance and to offer spaces where people can explore freedom, expression, and healing through mindful movement. Her approach is gentle, intuitive, and rooted in the belief that every body holds wisdom—and deserves the chance to move freely. In today's episode, Marjolein talks to Chris & Filly about: Her own health journey navigating chronic body pain from a child to an adult, in the face of all her medical tests coming back as “fine” How she moved into conscious dancing to slow down and connect with her self and her body for deeper healing The act of conscious dancing and the healing and wellbeing benefits How modern culture has caused us to shut down from conscious movement The 5 emotions expressed through 5Rhythms Dance Show Note Links: Find out more about Marjolein Akkerman here Marjolein's 5Rhythms Dance Workshop inside our Ending Body Burnout Method [CLIENT ACCESS ONLY] Take Chris & Filly's Ending Body Burnout Assessment here Check out how you can work with Chris & Filly Functional Medicine here Disclaimer: This Ending Body Burnout Show podcast and any information, advice, opinions or statements within it do not constitute medical, health care or other professional advice, and are provided for general information purposes only. After flying 100 million miles and making over 1.4 million deliveries using autonomous drones, Zipline CEO and co-founder Keller Rinaudo Cliffton is looking to transform how same-day delivery works in the U.S. His company has spent years shipping medical supplies across countries like Rwanda, Ghana and Kenya. But will Zipline become a household name by flying burritos and salads to backyards in the U.S.? And how is the startup competing with tech giants like Amazon and Alphabet? Cliffton speaks to WSJ's Christopher Mims and Tim Higgins on the latest episode of the Bold Names podcast. Correction: Zipline has flown more than 100 million commercial autonomous miles. A check- in conversation with Ethan Soloviev, Chief Innovation Officer at HowGood, about how regenerative agriculture is truly taking off, its position within large food and agriculture companies, and whether we risk watering it down or falling into greenwashing (Spoiler: Surprisingly, we're doing a lot about it!). We also get an update on HowGood—they're doing well and focusing more on nutrient density-, plus, we talk about Regen House, which is revolutionizing the way good food fosters meaningful conversations at major events like COPs, climate summits, and Davos, bringing farmers, indigenous community members, and global executives together around regenerative food experiences. By centering conversations on actual good food rather than panels and PowerPoints, these gatherings forge authentic connections that move regeneration forward. And, of course, no conversation with Ethan would be complete without diving into AI—what currently does and what it could do for regeneration—not just through efficiency gains, but through innovative applications like predicting deforestation before it happens. The real breakthrough will come when we develop "large ecological models" trained on nature's patterns rather than just human texts, enabling truly regenerative landscape design. As Chief Innovation Officer at HowGood, Ethan offers a glimpse into how sustainability data is transforming food systems. Their database tracks environmental and social impacts for 33,000 ingredients and nearly 4 million products globally, enabling everything from carbon footprinting to supplier engagement. What's particularly encouraging is how this data influences consumer behavior—when sustainability information is presented clearly at the point of purchase, sales of sustainable products consistently increase across diverse markets.More about this episode on https://investinginregenerativeagriculture.com/ethan-soloviev-4.==========================In Investing in Regenerative Agriculture and Food podcast show we talk to the pioneers in the regenerative food and agriculture space to learn more on how to put our money to work to regenerate soil, people, local communities and ecosystems while making an appropriate and fair return. Like breathing and eating, selfishness comes naturally to us. No one had to teach us how to grab the toy away from others. We never thought twice about keeping the leftovers for ourselves. When we are generous, God will expand our hearts in unimaginable ways. This idea called “food as medicine” isn't new. People have been talking for decades about how the foods we put in our body play a bigger role in preventative health and disease management than any drug or medication we could. But it's always been on the fringe. Partly because it's difficult to do the studies that clinically prove that foods can be as effective as medications. And second, which is related, there hasn't been much funding for this kind of work. So, what's changed? To answer that question, we sat down with Victor Penev, CEO & Founder of Edamam, a longtime member of the StartUp Health Community. Victor's created what may be the world's largest repository of food data. But he's also a futurist with a keen eye on where the industry is heading. In our conversation Penev explains how the uptake in GLP-1s and generative AI have come together in a fascinating way that opens up new opportunities in nutrition. Importantly, it may open up new funding sources and innovative business models. On that note: StartUp Health has formally kicked off our Food as Medicine Health Moonshot Community, so if you or someone you know is a founder working in nutrition, someone with a passion to use food to make the world a healthier place, we're accepting applications at StartUpHealth.com. Are you ready to tell YOUR story? Members of our Health Moonshot Communities are leading startups with breakthrough technology-driven solutions for the world's biggest health challenges. Exposure in StartUp Health Media to our global audience of investors and partners – including our podcast, newsletters, magazine, and YouTube channel – is a benefit of our Health Moonshot Community Showcase Membership. There's no doubt about it - Reeves and Starmer are at least trying to switch up from the doom and gloom that characterised their first six months in power. Have they finally got the tone right? Is the strategy right? Is it enough? The Matts discuss. Also … why you've got to go and see The Brutalist. The film, set largely in post-WW2 America and starring Adrien Brody and Guy Pearce made a big impression on both Matts… in this podcast they delve into the Brutalist's themes and find them strangely relevant to today. Today, on TechCrunch's Equity podcast, hosts Kirsten Korosec, Anthony Ha and Margaux MacColl are unpacking the week's news, including GM's decision to give up on self-driving startup Cruise. The choice initially came as a shock considering the $10 billion GM pumped into the company over the years, but it became clearer when examining Cruise's tumultuous 2023 and 2024. Listen to the full episode to hear about: Freysa.ai's public challenge and what's motivating users to make the AI chat bot fall in love with them. Why VCs are lining up to back Lumen Orbit's moonshot of data centers in space. Which startups are stepping up amid a looming TikTok ban and if we'll see another company capture Bluesky's success. According to Anthony, it all depends on, "luck, timing, and something to do with critical mass." Who's stepping up to fill Y Combinator's place in Africa and where else we could see a pivot to local accelerators.
