In this episode, we confront one of the most profound questions humanity faces: What is our greatest problem in life? Many have attempted to answer this question from different perspectives. Some argue that social inequality, economic disparity, political structures, or psychological struggles are at the root of human suffering. However, the Bible presents a different perspective. According to Scripture, our fundamental issue is not merely sociological or psychological—it is theological. Our greatest problem is our broken relationship with God.Today, we will be studying Romans 1:18-32, one of the most powerful and sobering passages in all of Scripture. The apostle Paul lays out a detailed diagnosis of the human condition, revealing the consequences of humanity's rejection of God. He argues that people have deliberately suppressed the truth about God, even though His attributes are clearly displayed in creation. This suppression leads to spiritual blindness, moral corruption, and ultimately, divine judgment.Through this passage, Paul outlines a downward spiral: when people turn away from the truth of God, they fall into futile thinking, idolatry, and ultimately, self-destructive behaviors. Three times in this passage, Paul states that "God gave them over"—a chilling expression of divine judgment, where God allows people to follow their sinful desires as a consequence of their rebellion. As we unpack these verses, we will explore:How God's attributes are revealed in creation. The consequences of suppressing the truth about God.The moral and spiritual decay that results from rejecting God's truth. The reality of God's righteous judgment against sin. This passage is not just an analysis of ancient societies; it serves as a mirror for our world today. It challenges us to examine our hearts, recognize our tendency to suppress God's truth, and turn back to Him in repentance.Episode Notes:Scripture Reference: Romans 1:18-32Main Theme: Humanity's greatest problem is not social, political, or psychological—it is theological. Our rejection of God leads to moral and spiritual corruption.Key Points:God's wrath is revealed against human ungodliness and unrighteousness.Humanity suppresses the truth about God, despite clear evidence in creation. This suppression leads to idolatry, moral decline, and divine judgment."God gave them over"—a terrifying phrase that highlights the consequences of rejecting God.The passage serves as both a warning and a call to repentance.Stay with us as we dive into this challenging yet necessary discussion. Let's seek a biblical understanding of our greatest problem and how Christ provides the only true solution.Thank you for tuning in to The Bible Project Daily Podcast. MINI-SERIES: The Theology of Community Groups. While Stu is away, Joey joins Joel and Tim to chat about the Theology-Strategy-Practice of Community Groups...They kick things off with a discussion on Cantopop and Mandopop, as Joey shares his experience attending Eason Chan's Fear & Dreams concert. From there, they shift gears to explore small groups—how they have developed in churches and what their names reveal about their purpose. They consider the influence of the seeker-sensitive movement from churches like Willow Creek and Saddleback, as well as missional communities from the UK. The key question emerges: What are small groups actually forming? Is it about the activity itself, or something deeper? They then dive into the theology of community groups, questioning whether small groups are truly the only way for Christians to grow deeper in their faith. Joey draws from Colossians 2:6 to highlight the role of God's Word in spiritual growth, while Tim challenges the assumption that weekend church and midweek groups are the only effective pattern. If the gospel is inherently corporate, then mission and discipleship should go hand in hand. This leads into a discussion on Soul Revival's core values and how they influence small groups, starting with The Bible is the Word of God (Hebrews 4:12). Rather than treating Bible study like a book club, they emphasise that the same Spirit who inspired Scripture is alive in the hearts and minds of believers today. They also explore Prayer & Evangelism (Colossians 4:2) and Discipleship to Maturity (Matthew 28:19), emphasising how the smaller group setting creates space for deeper conversations that help people grow in Christ. Finally, they ask: Why might Christians hesitate to go deeper? Small groups act as a holy interruption to our weeks, encouraging accountability and fellowship. When people prioritse the time, they not only grow as disciples but also as friends. They conclude with another of Soul Revival's values—Worship as All of Life (Romans 12:1-2, Luke 9:23-24), reflecting on how meeting together regularly helps believers resist the patterns of the world and live out their faith more fully.00:00 Intro03:15 CULTURAL ARTEFACT: Eason Chan's Fear & Dreams tour08:45 Small groups and their name17:20 The theology of small groups28:10 Meeting together means something37:26 Growing deeper with others48:25 Worship as all of lifeDISCUSSED ON THIS EPISODEEason ChanMary's Chip Lunch:Episode 161Episode 162Seeker sensitive movementSoul Revival Church's valuesCONTACT USShock Absorber Email: joel@shockabsorber.com.auShock Absorber Website: shockabsorber.com.auSoul Revival Shop: soulrevival.shopCheck out what else Soul Revival is up to here
Death and Eternal Life - Romans 6.17-23 by Redeemer Church Podcast
SPIRITUAL ANATOMY - BODY LIFE, ROMANS 12:1-13 ESV, COLIN MUNROE, LEAD PASTOR
Today, the guys continue discussing one of the more difficult passages in Romans. Listen how Jesus Christ is held up as a vastly superior and better representative of his people. While Adam brought condemnation and death, Christ brings righteousness and eternal life. Conformed to Christ aims to engage the mind, affect the heart, and call people to follow Christ. Additionally, our aim is to introduce and explain passages of Scripture and difficult theological doctrines in a down-to-earth and easy-to-grasp manner. Theology and the Bible should impact your life, and our goal is that we might play a small part in seeing that happen. As we wrap up our teaching series, A Link in the Chain, Romans 12:1-2 challenges us to consider what it truly means to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. This powerful passage urges us to present our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God. But what does this look like in our daily lives? It's about shifting our focus from a 'my way' mentality to one that seeks God's will. We're reminded that everyone sacrifices to something - whether it's career, relationships, or comfort. The question is: what are we sacrificing to, and how is it shaping us? By offering ourselves as living sacrifices to Christ, we open the door to true transformation. This isn't about willpower, but about positioning ourselves close to the source of love and life. Like plants growing in the right conditions, we flourish when we create space for God's presence in our lives. This transformation isn't just spiritual - it's meant to be embodied in how we live, work, and interact with others. As we reflect on God's mercies, we find the energy for this transformed life, becoming living testimonies of Christ's love in a world hungry for meaning and purpose.

Bible Talk on Romans 3, from the Life Of Faith Series
Romans 6:1-11 lays out for the new Christians why continuing in sin is not the way to prove God's power. Pastor Cana Moore elaborates that Jesus' death offers us freedom from sin and raises us into new life. With this promise of new life, we are tasked with abandoning our old ways for the better freedom in Christ.
This week we're beginning the next segment of our Breakthrough! series: Listening to the Spirit. From the opening verses of Scripture, the Holy Spirit is there bringing life, power, and wisdom. He is the Spirit of Life (Romans 8:2) and the Helper Christ said the Father would send us (John 14:26). Throughout Scripture, two common actions associated with the Holy Spirit are anointing and filling. He anoints with power, and He fills with wisdom. We cover this and more in today's episode. Join us on the trail.P.S. If you're reading along with us in Breakthrough!, check out chapter nine.
How is that working out for you? It's a simple question that prompts reflection on the results of your choices. In this sermon on Romans 6:15-23 we see that there are two choices before us that lead to very different outcomes. We can present ourselves as slaves of sin or slaves of righteousness. One leads to death and the other leads to eternal life; which one will you choose?
Bible talk on Romans 2, from The Life Of Faith Series
Romans 6:20-23 is about the consequence of sin and the hope of the gospel. It is a precious passage that I have often preached in no small part because of the great gospel promise of verse 23. Generally, when preaching this passage, the majority of attention is given to the hope of salvation, which is the main idea of the passage. However, with this sermon, I want to give attention to the warning concerning sin.All sin leads to death, both physical and spiritual. In the confusion and brokenness of this world, the consequence of death is sometimes ignored but more often celebrated and even encouraged. Abortion brings death but is celebrated as a way to preserve sexual freedom, ensure individual autonomy, and provide gender equality. Abortion, as with all sin, is presented by the world as good and desirable, but it produces the rotten fruit of death. The sanctity of human life is not first a political issue; it is, first, a theological issue. Christians must be clear concerning the cost and destruction of sin. Only then will you appreciate the great and glorious hope of the gospel. This passage exposes sin's necrotic nature and the remedy of the gospel. For other sermons on the sanctity of life visit:Audio: https://www.bensmithsr.org/bensmith-allforthekingdom/category/Sanctity+of+Life, Video: https://www.bensmithsr.org/sermons#life, https://vimeo.com/showcase/4969759

"Sin shall not have dominion over you..." Yes, but how? Romans 6:14 is triumphant but leaves us wondering why we still feel ruled by sin and how we can overcome it. Paul clarifies in Romans 7 that we cannot conquer sin by keeping the law in our strength. To live for God, we sever our former ties to the law. In Romans 8, Paul explains what God has done to empower us to live in victory over sin.

The book of Romans is a kind of “gospel introduction” from the apostle Paul to the church at Rome. Paul expounds the gospel to build up that church as well as to prepare the way for their support of his ministry to take this gospel to regions beyond. In the opening section Paul reminds the Roman church of three things necessary for every gospel-faithful church: 1. Gospel Stewardship (vv. 1–7) 2. Gospel Partnership (vv. 8–15) 3. Gospel Confidence (vv. 16–17)

Romans 8 is a manifesto on the call of all who are saved to live the Spiritual Life. Not that it is a choice, in the strictest sense, because all who are "in Christ Jesus" will walk "after the Spirit." What is a "Spiritual Life" then? A spiritual life is one in which the believer, indwelt by God's Spirit, is daily acting in faith, being moved by hope, and growing in identity with, awareness of, and obedience to Jesus Christ. Spiritual life is a life in which we are being led by, filled with, and taught by the Holy Spirit of God to be "in Christ!"
In this episode of Wisdom International, Stephen delves into Romans 13:11-14, exploring the Apostle Paul's urgent call to live with an eternal perspective. Reflecting on Psalm 90:12, Stephen emphasizes the importance of numbering our days to gain a heart of wisdom. He introduces a thought-provoking exercise: considering the remaining months of our lives, based on average lifespans, as a way to motivate purposeful living for Christ. Drawing from his own life, Stephen shares the impactful visual of a jar of marbles, each representing a month he has left if he lives to be 75. This tangible reminder encourages listeners to press on for the Lord, making the most of the time they have. As Paul urges believers to wake up and live in the light of their salvation, Stephen unpacks the three tenses of salvation: past (saved from the penalty of sin), present (being saved from the power of sin), and future (will be saved from the presence of sin). He emphasizes that our final salvation is nearer now than ever, and this truth should transform how we live each day. Stephen discusses the necessity of putting off the works of darkness and putting on the armor of light, highlighting six deeds of darkness—orgies, drunkenness, sexual immorality, sensuality, quarreling, and jealousy—that Paul warns against. He explains how these sins characterize a world in spiritual darkness and contrasts them with the believer's calling to live as children of light. Through practical advice and personal anecdotes, Stephen encourages listeners to "put on the Lord Jesus Christ" daily, resisting the temptations of the flesh and living in a way that honors God. By doing so, believers can effectively fulfill their mission to shine the light of the gospel in a world engulfed in darkness. Tune in to learn how living with an eternal perspective can shape your daily decisions, relationships, and ultimately, your legacy for Christ.
