Today begins a consideration of the relationship the regenerate have to “the law of God.” What was missing in my understanding of that relationship was a fully-developed, biblically sound understanding what is meant by image of God. I believe the phrase has become a shibboleth in a society of unregenerate persons, and is a mystery even for many Christians. I explain why and offer two consequences of a wrong or incomplete understanding of that image.
Without a sound Biblical content to the words, "image of God," the term becomes a shibboleth, something of little importance. Without that, today's policy debates become equivocal, and Christians can’t fully appreciate why Paul wrote that “the law is spiritual” (Romans 7:14). So, what is the image of God. That is the focus of today's episode.Support the show: https://www.factennessee.org/donateSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Does faith in Jesus cancel the Law of God? Or does it actually confirm it? Many wrestle with this question. Some believe grace replaces the Law entirely. Others cling to the Law without understanding its purpose. But Scripture shows us something deeper: the Law was never the means of salvation — it was the mirror that revealed our need for one. In this episode, we walk through Romans and the words of Jesus to understand the purpose of the Law, the power of faith, and how the gospel does not abolish God's standard — it fulfills it. Faith does not make the Law void. It establishes it.

Having been redeemed by grace, we are then called to keep Gods commandments as a grateful response, guided by Scripture and the Spirit, to live lives that truly love God and neighbor.
