135 years ago, Norwegian immigrant Thea Foss lived in a ramshackle driftwood houseboat on the coast of Tacoma Washington. Kind, capable, and hard-working, she was an anchor for hundreds more immigrants during America's Gilded Age. Thea built the largest maritime company west of the Mississippi- but more than that, she was the heart of the community. (Plus there's a boat parade, a catastrophic fire, and a truly delightful cow.) Join Katie on location in Tacoma Washington as we explore the question of how to build community. __________________________ Fancy a Thea Foss MUG featuring her inspiring motto ALWAYS READY? In this lesson, Dr. D. Todd Harrison: The Most-Followed LDS Religious Leader on Facebook, and Jesus Christ's Apostle to All Nations and Generations, brings to life the urgency and divine directives found in Doctrine and Covenants sections 60–63. He unpacks the Lord's call for His servants to “not idle away their time, neither bury their talent” (D&C 60:13), emphasizing that the time for silence has passed. With clarity, Dr. Harrison addresses the Lord's warnings, promises, and expectations for His Saints as they face uncertainty, persecution, and divine testing. This lesson reinforces the charge to “lift up your voices unto this people,” (D&C 60:2) and to testify boldly with power—no matter the obstacles. The revelations given in these sections were meant for a generation facing opposition, and now, through the Lord's modern Servant, they speak again in fire and spirit to the Saints of today. As Jesus Christ's Apostle to All Nations and Generations, I testify that these revelations are alive, and they speak to our generation with unmistakable urgency. The Lord has not called us to hide in comfort or wait for favorable winds. He has commanded us to declare His gospel and prepare the world for His return. The warnings to Zion are real. The blessings of obedience are eternal. The judgments are just—and they will come.I seal this testimony and message in the authority of the sacred name of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.Dr. D. Todd HarrisonJesus Christ's Apostle to All Nations and GenerationsJesus Christ's Foreordained ApostleThe Most-Followed LDS Religious Leader on Facebook___________________________________________________________ Introduction to Dr. D. Todd HarrisonForeordained from the foundation of the world, Dr. D. Todd Harrison stands as Jesus Christ's Foreordained Apostle—The Apostle to All Nations and Generations. Called directly by the Savior, his divine commission ensures that every nation hears the living reality of the Son of God in preparation for His return. For over 5 ½ years, his apostolic voice has sounded across the world, testifying of the resurrection and living reality of Jesus Christ with power. Fulfilling his sacred charge, he has borne witness to more than 100 million people globally. Millions have felt the Spirit confirm that his testimony was entrusted by the Savior Himself.Just as the Apostle Paul received his calling from the risen Christ on the road to Damascus, Dr. Harrison stands in that same sacred pattern. Like Paul, he proclaims the gospel to all nations and generations with unwavering boldness and power—ensuring every people hears the testimony of the living Christ. For six generations, Dr. Harrison's family has walked among the Lord's chosen—serving as apostles and general authorities. As the great-grandson of Elder LeGrand Richards—one of the Church's most doctrinally beloved apostles—his divine heritage prepared the way for this mission. But his lineage stretches further—back to ancient Israel. As a direct descendant of Abraham, King David, King Solomon, and Joseph of Arimathea, his family's divine calling spans both scripture and history. The Lord guided his ancestors' roles in shaping Early Christian and Latter-day Saint history—preparing the moment when Christ's Foreordained Apostle would rise to declare the gospel to the world.Through the sacred pattern established by the Lord, Dr. Harrison's global mission amplifies the work of the Church, standing in harmony with the First Presidency and bearing witness alongside the prophets. His inspired words cut through doubt and bring souls to Christ. His apostolic charge fulfills and extends the inspired work of those before him—ensuring the testimony of Jesus Christ reaches every language and nation, with divine trust placed upon him by the Savior Himself.

Do you naturally lift people up—or feel called to call them out? In this episode, we'll wrestle with the tension between calling out arrogance and lifting up the ashamed, because both require Spirit-led wisdom. One of the worst things we can do is kick someone when they're already down—but just as dangerous is empowering someone who's stuck in sin and denial.Romans 3:22-24Galatians 6:1,7,8Hebrews 10:26,272 Samuel 12:1-13Proverbs 27:5,6Acts 3:13-16,261 Corinthians 4:14,18John 4 (Samaritan woman)Matthew 27:4,5 (Judas)1 John 1:91 Timothy 1:12-17Psalm 103:8-12You can now also WATCH C.L.! Our culture tells us to find a microwave to speed up the process. C.L. Recently, the Church History Museum unveiled 150 works of art as part of its exhibition for the 13th International Art Competition. These pieces were chosen from nearly 600 artworks submitted by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints around the world. The theme for this year’s contest explores the gospel invitation to “Lift Up the Hands Which Hang Down,” which comes from Doctrine and Covenants 81:5. On this episode of the Church News podcast, Church News editor Ryan Jensen talks with artists and individuals responsible for the exhibition and its rich body of work. The exhibit and online gallery showcase artists from more than two dozen countries and highlight some of the many ways Latter-day Saints testify of Jesus Christ and His call to lift and serve. The Church News Podcast is a weekly podcast that invites listeners to make a journey of connection with members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints across the globe. Hosts Jon Ryan Jensen, editor of the Church News, and Church News reporter Mary Richards share unique views of the stories, events, and people who form this international faith. With each episode, listeners are asked to embark on a journey to learn from one another and ponder, “What do I know now?” because of the experience. Produced by KellieAnn Halvorsen.

This week we learn: These sections are full of mission calls and instructions from the Lord! Sections 30–36 focus on urging individuals to step up and share the gospel with enthusiasm and faith. This week we learn about preparing for the spiritual harvest and working together to bring others to Christ. It's a reminder that sharing the gospel brings joy, blessings, and the opportunity to make a real difference.I am called to be a witness of Jesus Christ.Whether or not you have a formal calling as a missionary, you can be a witness of Jesus Christ “at all times, and in all things, and in all places”If I build my life on the Savior's gospel, I will not fall.I should focus more on the things of God than the things of the earth.Parley P. Pratt had been a member of the Church for about a month when he was called “into the wilderness” to preach the gospel (Doctrine and Covenants 32:2). Thomas B. Marsh had been a member for even less time than that when he was told, “The hour of your mission is come” Orson Pratt, Edward Partridge, and many others had likewise barely been baptized when their mission calls came. Orson Pratt, Edward Partridge, and many others had likewise barely been baptized when their mission calls came. Perhaps there's a lesson in this pattern for us today: if you know enough to accept the restored gospel by baptism, you know enough to share it with others. Of course, we always want to increase our gospel knowledge, but God has never hesitated to call upon the “unlearned” to preach His gospel (Doctrine and Covenants 35:13). In fact, He invites all of us, “Open your mouth to declare my gospel” (Doctrine and Covenants 30:5). And we do that best not through our own wisdom and experience but “by the power of [the] Spirit” (Doctrine and Covenants 35:13).****************(The thoughts, ideas, and beliefs we express on this channel do not officially represent The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  For additional information or official statements, please visit the website below.  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/?lang=eng)*********************#biblestudy #oldtestament #religion #churchofJesusChrist #ldspodcast #christianpodcast #missionary #lds #biblestories #christ #faith #faithinchrist #scriptures #bookofmormon #doctrineandcovenants #pearlofgreatprice #temples #houseofthelord #mormon #mormonbeliefs #christiansandmormons #god #endure #ironrod #faithineveryfootstep #generalconference #prophets #followtheprophet #commandments #love #service #charity #keepstriving #keeponstriving #gospelgrowthandgoodtimes #become #newtestamentSupport the show

April 7-13Parley Parker Pratt was 16 months younger than the Prophet Joseph and he was born about 140 miles east of Palmyra, New York. Parley was born curious about religion. He said to his father one day when he was 18 years old and they were laboring together in the forest:"Father, how is it there is so manifest a difference between the ancient and modern disciples of Jesus Christ and their doctrines? If, for instance, I had lived in the days of the Apostles, and believed in Jesus Christ, and had manifested a wish to become his disciple, Peter or his brethren would have said to me, 'Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for REMISSION OF SINS, and you SHALL receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.' I should then have known definitely and precisely what to do to be saved. "Now, father…I believe in Jesus; I wish to serve him and keep his commandments… How…can I observe the ordinances of God and keep his commandments?"“To these inquiries my father could give no satisfactory answer…I still continued to ponder upon these things, and to search the Scriptures to learn how to be saved.” (Pratt, Parley P. Autobiography of Parley P. Pratt, Revised and Enhanced Edition, edited by Scot Facer Proctor and Maurine Jensen Proctor, Deseret Book Company, Salt Lake City, 2000, pp 10-11.)Parley would not rest until he could discover the right path to the Lord Jesus Christ.

712 I Lift Up My Eyes to the Mountains, A Guided Christian Meditation on Psalm 121 with the Recenter With Christ app  The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in your life and connect with the true source of peace, Jesus Christ.  Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization. Get into a place where you can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving or anything tensing or unrelaxing.  If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes.   Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation:   Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate,  deflate. Scripture for Meditation John 10 NASB I will raise my eyes to the mountains; From where will my help come? 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not allow your foot to slip; He who watches over you will not slumber. 4 Behold, He who watches over Israel Will neither slumber nor sleep. ESV I lift up my eyes to the hills.     From where does my help come? 2 My help comes from the Lord,     who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot be moved;     he who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, he who keeps Israel     will neither slumber nor sleep. Meditation on Scripture: I had someone write me such a dear message telling of her struggle with Cancer several years ago and how she listened to the podcast. That is the essence of the way the Lord cares for us. She requested this Psalm and it is a powerful message for us.  I lift my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? In the difficult journey's through the mountains we find ourselves asking this question. Even when we know the answer our eyes still search for the help we feel we must have in that moment. The fortunate news for us is that we seek this comfort from the Lord. The mighty Father of Heaven who has created the earth, the galaxy and everything beyond and within. His understanding is not limited or weakened by anything. In Him we trust for the direction of our path. The longer I live the more I realize the question of what support I get from the Lord is more a matter of me learning to see God's purposes than it is to bend his will to mine. And yet we plead. But he will not allow our foot to slip on its forward motion. He is ready at all times to watch over us, to guide us to where He wants us to go. This scripture has long been a favorite of those engaged in difficult journeys. It was a favorite of a well known Chrsitan missionary to Africa David livingstone. In reference to a question about the limits of where he would go to serve the Lord he stated. “Ill Go anywhere, as long as its forward.” I feel that this line embodies the spirit of this Psalm. It is perfectly fine and right for us to seek God in prayer to ask for what we feel we need. Once we do then, we trust that He will not let our foot slip regardless of how difficult the journey is.  Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling patient for your own faults and trials. Summarize what insights you have gained during this meditation and meditate and visualize positive change in your life: This is a listener funded podcast at patreon.com/christianmeditationpodcast Final Question: If you consider the invitation and command to persevere in the faith, what change in your life does that bring to your mind?  FIND ME ON: Download my free app: Recenter with Christ Website - ChristianMeditationPodcast.com Voicemail - (602) 888-3795 Email: jared@christianmeditationpodcast.com Apple Podcasts - Christian Meditation Podcast Facebook.com/christianmeditationpodcast Youtube.com/christianmeditaitonpodcast Twitter - @ChristianMedPod
