POPULARITY
Discover the surprising message of hope and joy found in the Christmas story—a message that uplifts the humble and challenges the powerful. In this sermon, we explore the contrast between King Herod's prideful reign and Mary's humble surrender to God's call. Learn how God consistently chooses the lowly to fulfill His purposes, and how true joy comes from humility, justice, and aligning our lives with God's will.Through Mary's story, we uncover the deeper meaning of being "blessed," a promise of God's presence and peace in all circumstances. Her song, the Magnificat, reminds us of divine justice: lifting the humble and holding the mighty accountable. If you're searching for joy this Christmas, this message will inspire you to live humbly, love generously, and serve faithfully. Watch now and rediscover the joy of Christmas!

In John chapter 1 we discover that Jesus came into the world re-create humans with light. According to the Scriptures, the problem with the world is spiritual blindness. There is no way to know God other than through the face of Christ. If you don't look him in the face, you will live without light. To live without light is to live without hope, direction, and identity. When we expose ourselves to the light in the face of Christ, when we look into His eyes, we begin to see ourselves and the world around us, correctly. He came to be generous with all that He is, so that you could see the world with the same generosity.
Love Involves Presence. You want to be with someone you love... and they, if they love you, want to be with you. And Advent is about presence... coming to be with. It really is the culmination of the whole story of the Bible because the Bible is a true love story. So in the episode we wrap up out Advent series by reflection on God's loving presence. How to Have Peace in an Un-peaceful World | Advent 2023 The angels announcing the news of Jesus' birth proclaimed,"Peace on Earth!" But ... Even though Jesus has come, the world is still full of unpeace. Wars. Famine. Political infighting. Hostility. Inflation. Conflict of all kinds. Where's the peace and how can I have it? Jesus said, "These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” - John 16:33. In our third Sunday of Advent we examined the famous prophecy about Jesus in Isaiah 9v2-7. Jesus came to get the principles and policies of heaven to become the standard of life you exist in. When you let Him set up His government in your heart, you get access to a Wonderful Counselor, a Mighty God, an Everlasting Father, and a Prince of Peace. We rely on this internal government to produce God's will in us and around us. Freedom no matter the circumstance. May this Advent season awaken again our need for and our dependence on Jesus.

In this week's message, Pastor Jon Tyson led us through Zechariah's song, found in Luke 1:57-80, that broke forth after Zechariah and Elizabeth received their promised, long awaited son. Zechariah and Elizabeth serve as examples of waiting well, a discipline that receives little regard in our world of instant gratification. By attuning our thoughts to the Lord, worshiping Him together with preemptive praise, and spending time in the promises of His Word, we can follow their example of waiting with hope. We invite you to prayerfully consider practicing the way of generosity through financial giving to the Living the Liturgy offering at church.nyc/give.

The Poco a Poco Podcast with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal
Series on "Prepare Your Heart" by Fr. Agustino Torres, CFR. (Part 2) With what's currently happening in the world, can you believe that God is working?? As exemplified by St. Juan Diego, during this Advent and throughout the year, we are invited to live in relationship with the Lord through Mary, our Mother, our Lady. We can do that by beginning with a humble Yes. Let's say Yes and allow ourselves to be interrupted by her intercession and have confidence in the love and trust she has for all of us—to trust that she is here and very much alive. For as Mary comes, she is with Jesus. Despite the discouragements in various parts of the world, there's also the truth that in the humblest places, God is working and we are always invited to keep crying out to Him. This episode is the second part of this year's Advent series, where we begin to look into the lives of different saints of Advent. The Poco a Poco podcast happens because of many generous donors, including recurring monthly donations of any amount. Thinking about helping out? You can give at https://spiritjuice.org/supportpoco. Thank you!

This week, Pastor Suzy Silk began our Advent series with a message from Luke 2:25-35, which recounts Simeon's encounter with baby Jesus in the temple. Through his faithfulness to the Lord, despite so many years of waiting, Simeon was finally able to see not only his personal prayers answered, but also recognize the greater picture of God's redemption of the world through Jesus. We invite you to prayerfully consider practicing the way of generosity through financial giving to the Living the Liturgy offering at church.nyc/give.

Fr. Agustino Torres, CFR, author of Prepare Your Heart, explains how the season of Advent is a chance to enter into the heart of Nazareth, a place of respite, rest, and formation. At the beginning of the liturgical year, it's so easy to become consumed with the busyness of the season, the work that must be done for Christmas, and we can forget how this is ultimately a time to prepare to welcome Jesus. Fr. Agustino explains how when we purposefully prepare our hearts, we are joyfully anticipating the gift of Christmas in the best way possible. We would love it if you could leave a written review on Apple and share with your friends! Editing provided by Forte Catholic (https://www.fortecatholic.com/)

When Fr. Ed Steiner was just 5 years old, there was a knock on his front door during supper. Fr. Ed excitedly ran to see who it was. What he found he never could have imagined. It was Santa Claus! To the day Fr. Ed still finds himself stirred with a similar sense of awe he experienced that very moment he saw Santa as a young boy. Yet Fr. Ed recognizes what he is really waiting for is the coming of Christ. In this Advent podcast Fr. Ed reflects on our need to remember why Christ came—and how the true meaning of Christmas fills our hearts and homes during this special time of year. Let us strive to make awe-filled memories and practice the Gospel with our loved ones this Advent Season.
The Poco a Poco Podcast with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal
Series on "Prepare Your Heart" by Fr. Agustino Torres, CFR. (Part 1) What does Nazareth look like for you and how does it compare to how you encounter Advent? Nazareth is a place where Jesus, Mary, and Joseph lived—a place of beauty, simplicity, and stillness. Meanwhile, Advent is a season of preparation for the coming of Jesus; For most of us, it is usually one of the busiest times of the year. So how can Advent be an experience of Nazareth during this busy time? For this first part of this year's Advent series, we will talk about Nazareth and what we can learn from this place as we celebrate the Advent season.
