Christmas is here—and this sermon invites us to slow down and remember why it matters. From Ephesians 2:1–2, we explore the honest reality of our spiritual deadness apart from Christ and the breathtaking hope that Advent announces. Like skeletons wrapped in holiday cheer, we can appear alive while carrying deep inner emptiness...but Jesus steps into our lifelessness to breathe life, hope, and rescue. If you're longing for a grounded, meaningful start to the Christmas season, this message shows the true wonder of Christ entering our darkness and making all things new.
Lee Guest Preaching Week 1 Advent Christmas - Hope Zechariah's Song Luke 1 Lee McMenamin Guest Preach by Patrick Rhodes
God's faithfulness spans centuries; hope is never wasted when it's anchored in Him. Matthew opens with a genealogy that feels like a waiting room of history — generation after generation longing for the promised Messiah. In Christ, the long wait for redemption ends.
In this stirring and deeply encouraging Advent message, Pastor Karl launches the new series The King Has Come with a powerful exploration of the first great gift Jesus brings: hope.Turning to Luke 2 and the quiet, largely forgotten figures of Simeon and Anna, Pastor Karl paints a vivid picture of two elderly saints who spent decades waiting in faithful obscurity—praying unanswered prayers, worshiping through silence, and serving without recognition. Yet the moment a 40-day-old baby was carried into the temple, their Spirit-illuminated eyes saw what the crowds missed: the long-promised Messiah, the Consolation of Israel, the Redemption of Jerusalem.Through their story, Pastor Karl reveals that biblical hope is not wishful thinking; it is the confident, unshakable expectation of future good rooted in the unchanging character and faithfulness of God. Hope grows in the hidden soil of daily faithfulness, thrives when God chooses to work in silence, and celebrates the tiny seed because it already trusts the coming harvest. Simeon and Anna never saw Jesus preach, heal, or rise from the dead—yet they held the infant King and departed in peace, because they knew who He was long before they saw what He would do.A tender yet convicting word for everyone who has waited a long time and is still waiting, prayed a long time and is still praying, and hoped a long time and is still hoping. In a season that can feel rushed and noisy, this message calls us to slow down, stay faithful, and train our eyes to recognize the presence of the King—even when He shows up wrapped in the ordinary, the small, and the seemingly insignificant.Because the King has come, hope is not dead. It is alive, resilient, and bubbling up in every heart that keeps showing up and keeps looking for Jesus. Essential listening for anyone who needs fresh hope this Christmas.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

This year, Christmas is going to be on December 25. Surprise! And this is how we're going to celebrate it: We're going put up trees with ornaments. We're going to bake cookies & open presents. And we're going to sing songs, put up decorations, and send out Christmas cards with Hope, Peace, Joy and Love splattered all over them. It will be the same as every other year, and that's a big part of what makes it special. We love the traditions of Christmas. But they can sometimes feel rote and routine. What if we could experience it all anew again? Like a Kid at Christmas… Learn more about Mountaintop Church at https://mountaintopchurch.com
With the beginning of Advent Pastor Dustin Clegg begins a new sermon series titled Irreverent Christmas, and as we look at Matthew 1:18-25 we talk about hope in brokenness. We see that:1) Hope fueled by truth leads to grace (vs 18-19);2) Hope and fear never agree, but they can be at war with one another in the same soul (vs 20-23); and3) Biblical hope and brokenness is always centered around Jesus and self-denial (vs 24-25).
Pastor Nate brings the message, "Christmas Hope” from Romans 5:1-5. We begin our Christmas series starting with the Biblical theme of Hope. Christmas truly is a wonderful season that we try to fill with all sorts of celebration and happiness. But, God has given His people a promise that the future eternal benefits we have through Christ will be so beautiful and glorious that if we could see them now you would be blown away. As we think about Christmas, let's remember that the best is yet to come.

Director Julia is scrambling to figure out how to save the place. She started Hope for All to give hope for all — but if they run out of money, there's going to be hope for none. What can they do? Well, they could cancel the Christmas tree lighting. Over Julia's dead body! She's determined to figure something out.Cut to a castle. Prince Christopher is over palace Christmas and wants to experience the holiday anywhere else. His parents are not into it, but his mind is made up: he wants to go to America. His dad, the King, agrees on one condition — he must take a chaperone: Malcolm. Malcolm is… not thrilled. So off to America he goes, and off to her family farm Julia goes — which must not be too far away, because she's quickly back in town to oversee an event the non-profit is hosting. Prince Christopher goes out for a jog, wanders into the event (thinking it's a store for some reason), and Julia assumes he's hungry and tries to give him food. He politely declines and runs off.But he cannot stop thinking about her, so he shows up later that night and asks her out to dinner. She reluctantly agrees and ends up opening up about the non-profit's financial struggles. She also teaches him the finer points of eating nachos and drinking cola. He tells her he wants to volunteer at her non-profit.He does — and he's great with kids. She even asks if he has any, because he's so natural with them. He doesn't, but they keep sharing, and she eventually tells him she was married once — her husband Keith died in a car accident a few years ago.Naturally, this leads to them eating Chinese food in her apartment. They keep hanging out… and he keeps not telling her who he really is.Julia's friend starts getting suspicious — he's not on social media, his backstory is shaky, and something just isn't adding up. So she sleuths. And she discovers: he's a prince. Of course she tells Julia. Julia confronts him and breaks things off — she feels betrayed. She's stunned when she later sees that he made a massive donation to the non-profit. And, honestly? It works. She goes to see if he's still at the hotel, but he's already left. When she gets back to her office, though — he's there waiting. They reconcile, head to the Christmas tree lighting, and KISSSSSSSS. · How much hope do you have for 2025? · Luke 2: 25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him. 26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Messiah. 27 Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. · Jesus comes to encourage. · If you need hope in 2025, let the Spirit flow in you. · To improve your relationship with God, regularly confess your sins · To improve your relationship with God, regularly ask, “God, where are you at work?” · To improve your relationship with God, make room. · 27bWhen the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law, 28 Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: 29 “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. 30 For my eyes have seen your salvation, 31 which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: 32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.” · Jesus is God's salvation. · Jesus is God's revelation. · Jesus is God's glory. · Jesus is for everyone. · 33 The child's father and mother marveled at what was said about him. 34 Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: “This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, 35 so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too.” · Jesus will force people to make a decision. · Jesus will face opposition. · Jesus will reveal hearts. · Obeying God brings pain. · Hope always deals in the truth. · 36 There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, 37 and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. 38 Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem. · Are you close enough with God to give thanks to Jesus? · If you share Jesus, you share hope. · If you need hope, walk as close to Jesus as you can. · Who do you need to share hope with?
This is the first time since starting the podcast a little over four years ago that an episode was due to be released on Christmas Day. I considered skipping it, knowing that many people would be busy with family gatherings or church services and might not even have time to listen. But then I thought about how our family literally missed Christmas last year due to the incident my husband Brad had with an ATV on December 22nd, and I knew I couldn't skip it. It was a blessing to have Brad join me for a conversation about how God's been working in his life and in our family since that time. I believe it will be an encouragement to you. I would love to hear your thoughts on the show. Paul reminds us that we were once lost, living in sin and disobedience, but through the kindness and love of God, we are saved—not by works of righteousness, but by His mercy. Through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, we are justified and given the hope of eternal life. The stats tell us that hopelessness is on the rise. People, our youth especially, are increasingly experiencing feelings of "sadness or hopelessness". This makes the message of HOPE at Christmas all the more important. In this episode, Pastor Chris Kipp teaches from Jeremiah 33:14-16 on the hope that we have because of Christ's first coming and how that points us to Christ's second coming.
