POPULARITY
Joined on this episode by not just one phenomenal fire service leader, but for the first time in the history of the Scrap we had dual guests as Anthony Kastros and Frank Viscuso both came on the Scrap! It was a mini-mega on leadership and command and it promises to be an amazing show. We planned to discuss Incident Command, Officer Development, Conflict Resolution as well as the new class that they are developing that touches on these topics. Of course it does not matter what we planned to discuss because the beautiful audience as always brought the heat and were there to guide and derail the conversation in their awesome way!! It was a one of a kind Scrap and you will enjoy!

Grab your guitar cases, Buddies! We have a bonafide musician on the pod today. For this latest 'sode of Vinyl Community Podcasts, we chat with Mark Anthony K of Projekt Gemineye. The only thing matched by his love of music (and collecting it) is making his own music via his band Projekt Gemineye. We talk about the origins of the project, and how he finds the inspiration to create new music. His output is quite prolific, as evidenced by a glance at his Bandcamp page. Why is it important his music is made on vinyl? Who creates the splendid artwork for these albums? What other projects can we look forward to on his label Reficul Records? Will Projekt Gemineye hit the road in 2024? Answers to these questions (and MORE) coming up here on Vinyl Community Podcasts! Produced by Joseph Cottrell, Ken Fuller, Wayne Hall and Jeffrey Crecelius While Kevin is on holiday with his family, Mark flies solo and brings us some of the most important talking points of the week including the news that Jay Schellen has been named as the permanent replacement in Yes for Alan White. Also, Mark mentions what's coming up for Yes fans in this year's Record Store Day and more! What are your thoughts on the appointment of Jay Schellen? What do you think he will bring to Yes' writing? What would you like Yes to release for Record Store Day? 15th February 2023: YES are delighted to announce that drummer Jay Schellen has joined the band as a permanent member. Following the sad passing of our iconic drummer, Alan White on 26th May 2022, Jay will fulfil Alan's wishes in becoming the new drummer with YES. Jay Schellen was Alan White's choice to stand in during the Topographic Drama tour, in 2016, and shared drumming duties with him from 2018 onwards. Jay had previously played alongside YES' keyboardist Geoff Downes and late bassist Chris Squire together with long working relationships with Alan and YES bass guitarist Billy Sherwood. This gave Jay a deep insight into the workings of the dynamic rhythm section that drives YES' music. Steve Howe says “We're all delighted to welcome Jay officially into the fold! He's been a great support throughout the last seven years, and we couldn't have found a better all round team player.” “I am thrilled to become the new drummer with YES,” says Jay. “I grew up playing along to YES records and I am proud to have worked so closely with my musical hero and great friend Alan White these past few years. I will strive to honour his memory as we drive towards the future with the band.”Jay Schellen TormatoBook.com YMP Patrons: Producers: Joseph Cottrell Ken Fuller Jeffrey Crecelius and Wayne Hall Patrons: Aaron SteelmanDave OwenMark James LangPaul TomeiJoost MaglevDavid HeydenPaul WilsonMartin KjellbergBob MartilottaLindMichael O'ConnorWilliam HayesBrian SullivanDavid PannellLobate ScarpMiguel FalcãoChris BandiniDavid WatkinsonNeal KaforeyRachel HadawayCraig EstenesDemMark 'Zarkol' BaggsPaul HailesDoug CurranRobert NasirFergus CubbageScott ColomboFred BarringerDavidGeoff BailieSimon BarrowGeoffrey MasonStephen LambeGuy R DeRomeSteve DillHenrik AntonssonSteve PerryHogne Bø PettersenSteve RodeDeclan LogueSteve ScottTodd DudleyJimJamie McQuinnSteven RoehrJohn ParryKeith HoisingtonAlan BeggTerence SadlerJohn HoldenBarry GorskyMichael HanderhanTim StannardJon PicklesJohn ThomsonJohn CowanTony HandleyRobertGary BettsJim Morrison Facebook has changed how pages work which means that I've had to establish a new place for us to post and discuss Yes-related happenings. It's a new group entitled, rather creatively, YMP Discussion Group. For the moment it's open to anyone to join but I'll be adding rules and joining requirements when I have time. One of the advantages of the new format is that all members of the group have the same ability to post content, so it's a bit more egalitarian, or somesuch. Host Ben Rice travels to West Sacramento to discuss Sacramento Beer Week 2022 (April 22 through May 1) with the president of the Sacramento Area Brewer's Guild/co-owner of Jackrabbit Brewing Erle Mankin. We discuss the kickoff Sac Mac & Beer Festival taking place on April 23 (go to www.sacramentobeerweek.com for tickets - also, I might have access to some free tickets - follow me @barleyandmepod for details!), Sacramento Beer Week's fraught history, Jackrabbit's recent 9th anniversary celebration, and mathematics. PLUS! Ben runs TOO MANY RAD COMEDY SHOWS ON THE LEAD-UP TO BEER WEEK (seriously, scroll down for info), Erle tells Ben the difference between kolsch and pilsner, and thinly-veiled "hilarous" jabs are taken between host and guest, in this absolute romp/breeze of an episode. Speaking of Breez, did you know original Barley & Me theme song composer Breez recently worked with (hed) p.e. on their latest record? Check out "F*** What You Say" which he does the entirety of the production and backing track for.Anyway, comedy shows leading up to/kicking off Sacramento Beer Week, as brought to you by Barley & Me host Ben Rice, include:Sunday, April 17, 7pm, at SacYard Community Taphouse: New York comedy legend Eddie Pepitone visits Sacramento for the first time he can remember, with pal JT Habersaat, the "punk rock comic" who recently had the #1 comedy album on iTunes, plus locals DNA & Becky Lynn. Tickets are $20 in advance on Eventbrite or $25 at the door. You seriously do not want to miss it.But if you have to miss it, you can almost immediately correct your mistake on Wednesday, April 20 (4/20 blaze it) at Crooked Lane Brewing for their 8pm show starring Anthony K, who is back by popular demand after wrecking shop opening for Kiry Shabazz (Comedy Central) in 2019. Tickets are $10 at www.crookedlanebrewing.com. Also appearing: Taylor Evans and Serena Gamboa, AKA The Spicy Latina. But if you have to miss THAT too, come down to Vacaville the very next day, Thursday, April 21, at 7pm, for the return of Free Live Stand-Up, starring Dennis Gaxiola, who will be working out material for his SECOND Dry Bar Comedy Special, for FREE. Also appearing: me (sorry) and Becky Lynn!Gone to all/none/2 or 3 of these? Well, it's time to get Sacramento Beer Week 2022 going! So Friday, April 22, at 7pm, come out to Fort Rock Brewing in Rancho Cordova for their monthly free comedy show (hosted by yours truly) starring Saul Trujillo (a regular at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, whose debut album Drugstore Debutante is available now), plus Scott Powers and special guests Emily Pedersen, Connor Martin, and Celeste Koegl. That's all too much to process. So here is even more stuff!Find out more about Sacramento Beer Week 2022 at www.sacramentobeerweek.com or follow @sacramentobeerweek on IGCheck out the Sacramento Area Brewer's Guild @sacramentoareabrewersguild (copy and paste this for ease)Or just head down to Jackrabbit Brewing in West Sacramento, visit www.jackrabbitbrewing.com, or follow @jackrabbitbrewing which is not to be confused with @jackrabbit_brewing_co in Essex, England (if you've read this far into the notes, hopefully you've also listened to the episode for this "cool" reference) to get more info on their beers, their events (including Sacramento Beer Week 2022 events like their second Friday concert), and more!Barley & Me can be found across social media @barleyandmepod.
