John and Kelly talk through their weeks of training and talk about the Bristol 10K and Half MarathonHave a great week,Cheers,The SMM TeamPlease also see below, official statement from SMM:All good things must come to an end. After more than 240 episodes, myself and Kelly have decided that the finish line of the Single Malt Marathoners' podcast is in sight. Born out of the confusing time that was covid, SMM developed into a fun and interesting friendship-building machine that we are both extremely proud of and grateful for.Like most runners we are both keen on consistency and habit but we also embrace the challenge that comes with change. Recording our weekly thoughts together with friends and famous sports people has been something that we've always looked forward to and wanted to make time for but now we want to make time for and channel our energy into new adventures. We will still be running and you'll always see us at races and on the Portway or at Ashton Court on a Saturday and we will always want to talk about and celebrate what SMM was.We will be hosting a celebration for all patrons and friends of the show this summer and we will be in touch with you by email with the details. All of the SMM Podcasts will remain on the usual podcast platforms until the end of the year. If you wanted a copy of all the episodes, I can look at putting them onto a memory stick for you, please just ask. ~ johnacox1988@gmail.comThanks to all of you for being a part of this journey. The friendships we've made and the runs we've shared have been the best part of creating the podcast and we are forever grateful to all of you for your involvement. Special thank yous to all the co-hosts over the years and an extra special thank you to the Girls who Took Over (you run the world!)Cheers,John and Kelly

On February 6, 2007, in a wooded area of Ashton Court in Sarasota, Florida, a 14-year-old found a bone sticking out of the ground. Investigators quickly discovered that a woman had been buried in a shallow grave. Unfortunately, they were not able to identify her. For 15 years, she was known as “The Sarasota County Jane Doe.” That is until November 2022, when investigators partnered with DNA Labs International to identify 39-year-old Jeana Lynn Burrus using DNA testing and Genetic Genealogy.   Pretty soon, they discovered Jeana had never been reported missing.   Now, investigators are asking the media and public to share Jeana's story in hopes of solving her case.   If you or anyone you know knew Jeana Burrus or James “Jamie” Burrus or lived in or around this area between 2005-2007 and have relevant information, PLEASE reach out to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Department at 941-861-4900. Britain is on the go-to list for tourists worldwide but, with the value of the pound reaching historic lows after the Brexit vote, a visit has became more timely.英国是全球游客的首选名单,但随着英国脱欧公投后英镑的价值达到历史低点,访问变得更加及时。The summer is a great time to be in Britain. The British Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Tate Gallery are all a must-see for everybody who comes to the country, but there's also a lot of interesting things to do for those who love the outdoors.夏天是来英国的好时机。大英博物馆、自然历史博物馆、泰特美术馆都是来到这个国家的每个人的必看之地,但对于热爱户外的人来说,也有很多有趣的事情可以做。The Notting Hill Carnival changes the face of the famous London borough in the last weekend of August. 诺丁山狂欢节在 8 月的最后一个周末改变了著名的伦敦自治市镇的面貌。It's the largest street festival in Europe. S Ruston—jackin’, pumpin’, voguey, UK, ravey, some fast, some slow—she knows what you need and she’ll give it to you good. Having cut her teeth on the Bristol scene over 15 years ago, she started organising secret warehouse parties in London and playing at seminal bass music events such as DJ Pinch’s Subloaded and Dubloaded, while consistently threw it down at major UK festivals like Glastonbury, Glade, Shambala, Ashton Court and Bloc, under the alias Ghettozoid and with female booty bass collective Octopussy. She made it SXSW representing “UK Urban” with her band Bubbz & the Black Notez in 2010, before relocating to Berlin where she has divided her time between the decks and the studio. She founded the label One4Ho, focusing on 140 Bpm driven music with female led creative input, and has released as a producer and vocalist on Fabric’s Houndstooth imprint. In 2012 S Ruston served as Zebra Katz’s DJ on his first European tour, and continues to make occasional appearances at his gigs. She’s also worked closely with artists Linards Kulless and Ursula Hutchinson on music videos and VJ/DJ collaborations. As a resident of femme-forward collective Lecken, she’s been making a name for herself on the city’s queer sex-positive party scene, serving it up at TrashEra, Riot, Hot Topic, Whole Festival, Pornceptual, Warning and more. With a new release on TrashEra Music, and with her reputation quickly spreading beyond Berlin, S Ruston guarantees a sweaty dance floor and an impeccable selection wherever she goes.

The International Balloon Fiesta in Bristol has been running for nearly 40 years, drawing pilots and tourists form around the world. Helen Mark has been invited to Ashton Court to help launch one of the crafts and take flight in the direction determined by the wind. During the journey she'll find out how so many navigate around one another, and why those involved are so passionate about this way of travelling. Drifting through the skies with her will be 'The Flying Archaeologist' Ben Robinson who can reveal hidden histories in the landscape below that often go unnoticed. But all her plans are at the mercy of the weather. Presented by Helen Mark Produced by Anne-Marie Bullock.

Woodlands are often the setting for fairy stories but also for the creation of a new childhood game, a secret adventure or a new den and are cherished places. Helen Mark heads to Gloucestershire to see how children, large and small, share a love for the forest. In Berkeley she meets children from a 'forest school' where lessons are taken outside and children are taught to use axes and saws, to identify trees and create and build. While the children teach her how to get involved, she hears it's not just the children who've changed through freedom outside the classroom. Near Tetbury she meets James Shrives and his wife Debs who've crammed 1000 trees into an acre of garden space to create their own forest. The dense growth provides a sanctuary and draws in wildlife but will the pride they've taken in the growth make it heartbreaking to thin down the area? Finally she heads to the edge of Bristol where a council-managed forest at Ashton Court provides an escape for city-dwellers. She joins a group of friends to see how the wild space inspires them and if it can rival their computers and meets author Ingrid Skeels whose own alternative education led her to create St Cuthbert's Wild School for Boys.
