Send us a text#332 - There are long races, Cocodona 350, Vol State 500k, and then there's the Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race. This race is like no other. It is as much a personal journey into self discovery as it is a foot race. But it is still a race and if you decide this is the race for you, it will push you farther than you have ever been before. And if you complete it, you may find yourself returning year after year. Those who do it every year, return again and again. This week, I talk about why this race is so special and how it stands apart from all other footraces. All links are on the show website. Fit, Healthy & Happy Podcast Welcome to the Fit, Healthy and Happy Podcast hosted by Josh and Kyle from Colossus...Listen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the showMartha Runs the World websitehttps://www.martharunstheworld.com/Email:martharunstheworld@gmail.comInstagram:https://www.instagram.com/martharunstheworld/#

Have you ever found yourself frozen by the voice that whispers "you're not enough"? In this raw and revealing episode, I take you mile by mile through my 50-mile ultra trail race where everything was on the line with just 10 miles and 2 hours left to reach my goal. But this isn't just about running—it's about that universal moment we all face when our dreams collide with our deepest insecurities. Whether you're building a wellness practice, stepping into your power as a yoga teacher, or pursuing any meaningful goal, the self-limiting beliefs we encounter mirror the same ones I battled on that rugged trail. In this episode, you'll discover: The exact moment my inner critic took over at mile 40 and the unexpected technique that silenced it Three practical strategies to recognize and reframe self-doubt when it threatens your professional growth How "strategic disappointment" can become your most powerful tool for resilience How to hold space for joy, doubt, and fear of disappointment without it taking you down or missing out on the gifts of the moment The finish line isn't just a moment—it's a mindset. By the end of our journey together today, you'll have a roadmap for outrunning the voices of limitation that have kept you playing small in your wellness career. The same mental toughness that carried me through those final challenging miles can be harnessed in your teaching, your practice, and your business.  Mentioned in the episode:  Get on the waitlist for The A.L.I.G.N. For a brief window in the late 1800s, America's favorite sport was walking in circles over and over and over. The biggest sporting events in the country were “6 Day Races” – days-long tests of endurance where competitive walkers competed to see who could log the most miles. Check out our guest Matthew Algeo's book “Pedestrianism: When Watching People Walk Was America's Favorite Sport.” And if you're so inclined here is a selection of 6 Day Races that you can still compete in today: The Old Six Day, Six Days in the Dome, Across the Years (and a variation on the theme, the Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race).

“People asked me if I was shocked crossing the line. To be honest, I didn't feel like the shock set in yet when I crossed the line because I thought I could run 3:48 or 3:49. I was really excited, but I don't feel like I was as shocked as other people. It was afterwards when someone told me I was number eight on the world all-time list. That's when I was like, ‘Wow.'”My guest for today's episode isGary Martin, a fan favorite here at CITIUS MAG since his high school days. Now he's a junior at the University of Virginia. Gary just delivered one of the fastest miles in NCAA history at the prestigious Millrose Games, running an incredible 3:48.82 – a performance that shattered his own school record and puts him at No. 2 on the all-time collegiate list and No. 8 on the world all-time indoor list. What makes this even more impressive is that he was the only collegiate runner in such a stacked field of pros and ran a very well-executed race surging through the field from being last at halfway to finishing 5th overall. Today we're diving into what this performance means for his season, his mindset going into that historic race, and how he's approaching the upcoming championship stretch. Plus, we talk about the evolution of his career at UVA and the rapid rise of collegiate milers pushing the 1500m and the mile to new limits.Host: Chris Chavez | @chris_j_chavez on Instagram Guest: Gary Martin |@gary.martin20 on InstagramSUPPORT OUR SPONSORSKETONE-IQ: Level up your training with Ketone-IQ – a clean shot of energy with no sugar or caffeine. The book is entitled, “VUKOVICH The Man Who Wouldn't Lift” and tells the incredible life story of the great Bill Vukovich, who won back-to-back Indianapolis 500s in 1953 and 1954 and was running away with the lead in the 1955 500-Mile Race before he was killed while leading the race in a crash on the backstretch. He was just 36 years old. Racing fans have heard the name “Bill Vukovich” but few know the story of the man. Montieth was able to take a manuscript written by Indianapolis News sportswriter Angelo Angelopolous, who died of Leukemia in 1962, into a hardcover book by Halfcourt Press in Indianapolis.  The book is available at Amazon.com or by contacting Mark Montieth at markmontieth55@gmail.com.  Signed copies are also available by contacting Montieth. It would make a great Christmas or holiday gift for any Indianapolis 500 or IndyCar fan. For more INDYCAR coverage, follow Bruce Martin at X, previously known as Twitter, at @BruceMartin_500

Hey Guys!Maverick here!I finally ran a 10 mile race (The Wyoming Valley Run).  It was the most I have run in a single day in 17 years.  I must say that although there were times when my legs said this isn't worth it and times the cramps made me want to walk off the course I knew it would be worth it to press on and persevere.  My co-host and best friend Wolfman kept me positive.  Comments like, "You got this Mav!"  lifted me just enough to run a little more and a little more.  Thank you Wolfman for the inspiration, motivation, and random stories that made me laugh.  Hahaha In addition I want to thank my wife, who is always there for me when I need her most, my family and friends for cheering me on, our old teammates we reminisced with, all of the race officials, volunteers, runners and spectators and listeners that made us smile and laugh. - MaverickEnjoy the Run!Send your questions to RunningwithMaverickandWolfman@yahoo.comSupport the Show. Thanks for listening to Running with Maverick and Wolfman. In this episode, Nation friend and renowned ultra runner Krissy Moehl talks about her recent race at the High Lonesome 100. Krissy shares her experience running the challenging 100-mile race after a six-year hiatus from 100 milers and discusses her mindset as an aging athlete. She talks about the importance of accepting and embracing her body's changes and finding joy in the process. Krissy also reflects on the support and community surrounding ultra running and the lessons she learned from this race. In this conversation, She also talks about the importance of being aware of one's body and making intentional decisions to maintain long-term health and continue running. Krissy expresses her curiosity about the changes in her body as she goes through perimenopause and her desire to explore the topic further. Takeaways Accept and embrace your body's changes as an aging athlete Find joy in the process of running and racing Seek support and surround yourself with a supportive community Don't be afraid to ask for help and accept assistance during races Appreciate the contributions and impact of others in helping you achieve your goals The Leadville Trail 100 Run has a well-organized race organization and takes pride in its initiatives, such as gender equality and non-binary inclusion. The whiskey tradition at the race is sponsored by Laws Whiskey House, and the whiskey bottles are given to finishers as a symbol of accomplishment. As an aging athlete, Krissy is curious about the changes in her body and how perimenopause affects her running and overall health. Making intentional decisions to prioritize long-term health and maintain muscle mass is important for aging athletes. Endurance events provide transformative experiences and allow individuals to connect with nature and appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. In today's episode, I share my experience of The Speed Project, one of the toughest, grittiest, and most disruptive races. We gathered six runners who had never worked together before to participate in an unsupported 300-mile relay race through some of the most unforgiving terrains in the country. The course was full of inclines and declines, with thousands of feet of elevation gain and loss through mountains and deserts, and we had to plot our own route with precision and speed. This was an unparalleled experience for me, and I can't wait to share some of the stories that came out of it with you all. Enjoy!
