https://www.maynardvillefellowship.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Cooke-Gospel-Centered-Apologetics-Christmas.mp3 A couple of week's ago I stumbled on an article titled ‘Why You Should Stop Treating Jesus's Birth Narratives as History.' This guy loved the Spiritual lessons one could glean from the whole Jesus story. In his construct, the story is ‘truth' but it isn't TRUE. That is to say that it did not happen. Let me tell you right now, if we neglect the historicity of the nativity of Jesus, the Christian faith is of ZERO value. But how can we know? When you really bear down on the birth narrative of Christ, & ask the questions that the text demand you ask, you actually find great apologetic value in this familiar little story.

Merry 12th and Last Day of Christmas! First of all, I want to thank you, our listeners, for taking time with you and your family to read scripture and pray to our Savior Jesus Christ together with us during these Advent and Christmas seasons! Also, a special welcome and thank you to our many new subscribers and listeners who joined us during this special time. We are so glad you found us and look forward to being with you as you continue to grow in prayer along with us! If you could rate and review us wherever you listen to us (Apple Podcast, Spotify, Sticher, Deezer, etc) . . . that would really help! Additionally, I want to extend a profound thank you to the Adult Education Committee at Gary Church (www.garychurch.org) . It was their fantastic idea to use this podcast as a way to follow the different Birth Narratives of Jesus in scriptures throughout Advent and Christmas. They, along with Pastor Carey Willimas Bebar, worked so hard at not only finding wonderful readers, but participating themselves. Thank y’all so much!!! I wanted to take a moment to talk about Pastor Brian Podcast. As you know, since Holy Week of this last year (2020) and the beginning of the pandemic we have made a unique prayer podcast every weekday. It has been a joy and absolute privilege to journey with you through prayer, especially during these trying times. However, even as the release of the vaccine has brought a dawn to this dark pandemic, the pastoral needs in our community and congregation have never been higher in all my years of ministry . . . and they continue to multiply. People are facing real difficult and challenging decisions and crisis. Also, many have been reaching out to God in ways they never have before. As I have been praying about this I feel the Holy Spirit is moving me to spend all of my extra time in addressing these growing needs and opportunities to share Christ’s saving love. Thus, I will be making some changes to Pastor Brian Podcast. Don't worry . . . we are not going anywhere!!! Yet, there will be some tweaks to the format. Next Monday we will start Season 4 of the Pastor Brian Podcast. Beginning with this coming season, we will be coming to you weekly, on Mondays. The podcast will be designed so you can use it every day. Although, there will not be a unique podcast every day, this podcast can be used over and over again throughout the week to help you pray. And hopefully, in the near future, there will be some really exciting new directions the Podcast will go. I can’t tell you too much now, since we are still working on the details . . . but we think you will be really excited and pleased! So stay tuned to this podcast feed! Needless to say, this podcast has been a gift to me in these last nine months. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! The kind notes, emails, prayers, the encouragement, as well as our growth in reaching new listeners and subscribers all for God’s glory, has been a delight! I am looking forward to continuing to journey with you in prayer and I can’t wait to experience the ways we will grow together in Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior. Therefore, I will see you next week for Season 4 of the Pastor Brian Podcast . . . and I’ll look forward to praying with you! “Christmas Wonder" by Purple Planet Music at https://www.purple-planet.com. Would the Birth Narratives of Jesus be evidence for an oral tradition of Jesus? If Calvinists are correct and there is nothing the reprobate can do to be saved and the elect can do to be unsaved, what further value can theology have? If one is punished eternally in hell, doesn't that mean that person has everlasting life, albeit a miserable one?. The deuteronomistic list of Davidâ??s â??mighty menâ?? has the feel of a "gathering of heroes" list of the sort familiar from myths like Arthur's gathering the round table or Jason with is Argonauts. Would these mighty men have been the heroes of their own sagas, now lost? Might Matthew 23:8-12 be an interpolation into a Qumran style polemic against rival Jewish authorities? Could John son of Zebedee have been the original hero in the stories where we now see him as Peterâ??s mute sidekick? And could he have originally have been John the Baptist?
Luke - Acts is considered in this part three discussion. Examine the Structure of Luke. The Gospels present the significance of Jesus. When Luke talks about order, he is not talking about chronology but theology primarily. Luke uses Mark's gospel as a source. Luke's order has more to do with the structure of Luke's narrative starting in Luke 3 and through Acts 28. Luke-Acts is a geographical presentation of God's action in the Son and in the Spirit. Luke focuses on the Son and Acts focuses on the Spirit. Luke 1 and 2 are the Birth Narratives and an introduction to the life of Jesus. Luke 3:1-9:50 shows Jesus' Ministry Outside Jerusalem. Luke 9:51-19:27 reflects the Journey to Jerusalem. Luke 9:51-19:17 contains most of the material unique to Luke. Luke 19:28 - 24:52 accounts for Jesus in Jerusalem. Acts is another geographical presentation but it moves in the opposite direction. In Acts 1:1-8:1, the Church is in Jerusalem. In Acts 8:1-9:31, the Church moves out to Judea, Samaria, and Galilee. Acts 10:1-28:31 takes the Church outside Israel to the ends of the earth. Luke's geographical pattern has a theological purpose that shows the Lordship of God over history. Luke not only traveled with Paul but was a preacher of the Gospel and historian of the early Church.

The Mind Renewed : Thinking Christianly in a New World Order
We are joined by Dr. Paul L. Maier, Russell H. Seibert Professor of Ancient History at Western Michigan University, for a wide-ranging, informative and entertaining interview on the evidence for Jesus' existence outside the Bible, and on the historical reliability of the New Testament. In characteristically ebullient and academically-combative style, Dr. Maier dismisses popular claims that "Jesus never existed" and that "Jesus is a myth", and demonstrates that the New Testament evidence for Jesus is corroborated by secular writings from antiquity. Dr. Maier also addresses the so-called gnostic gospels, New Testament apocryphal writings, Joseph Atwill's hypothesis that Jesus was a Roman invention, Bart Ehrman's misrepresentation of textual criticism, the Birth Narratives, and answers questions commonly asked about the reliability of the New Testament. (We apologise for the sound quality of this recording, which, at times, was plagued by technical difficulties.) (For extensive show notes, please visit http://TheMindRenewed.com)
