Listening Well presents Morning Meditations to help you start your day centered and ready to take on your world. Find a quiet place to focus for 3 minutes as you listen. Get in touch if you like the music tracks, they are available for self-practice and for teachers to use. +++++ Before the day unfolds, before the noise begins, pause. Just for a moment —give yourself the space to arrive. Let your breath settle naturally. No forcing. In… and out.Even. Quiet. Reliable.Like the ticking of a clock in a still room. Begin to gather your attention. Not sharply — but gently.Let the mind return from wherever it drifted.Come back to your center.Back to this moment. Today will ask for your attention. So right now, you train it.Like adjusting a lens.Like opening a window.Clear. Simple.Direct. Think of one thing — just one —that matters most today.Something that deserves your focus.Hold it lightly in your awareness.Let everything else fall to the background. Take one more breath — slow and grounded.Feel your feet on the floor.Your spine tall. You are awake. You are clear. You are ready. Hiring isn't the hard part. Leading is. And most coaches aren't burnt out because they're doing too much — they're burnt out because they're still doing everything. They're scared to let go, unclear on what they actually need, and end up building teams that create more noise than momentum. You don't rise by holding tighter. This episode walks you through the real reason your first hire felt off (or why you've been putting it off altogether). I'm breaking down what to fix before you even post the job, how to interview for ownership, and the mindset shift that turns a task-dumper into a leader people want to follow. How Samsung Turns Customer Service Calls into Opportunities for Customer Delight Shep interviews Mark Williams, Head of Customer Care at Samsung Electronics America. He discusses enhancing customer service through smart technology, providing fast and simple support, and utilizing AI tools to create loyal customers and continually improve their experience. This episode of Amazing Business Radio with Shep Hyken answers the following questions and more: How can a brand turn customer service interactions into opportunities for brand loyalty? What are the benefits of proactive customer service? How does smart technology enhance the overall customer experience? What role does customer feedback play in improving the overall service experience? How can artificial intelligence enhance the role of customer service agents? Top Takeaways: Every customer interaction is an opportunity to turn someone into a loyal fan, even a promoter of your brand. Customer service shouldn't just be about fixing problems. It should also be about preventing them. Customer care doesn't always have to be reactive. By using technology to anticipate problems, brands can identify and resolve issues even before customers becomes aware of them. For example, Samsung's smart appliances can alert you to issues like a fridge getting too warm and even schedule a repair before your food goes bad. Loyalty can be built through customer service, even when it comes after a problem or a negative experience. When customers have a great experience getting help, and their problems are solved quickly, they are more likely to buy again and recommend the brand to friends and family. Mark also shares his three core principles: Speed, Simplicity, and Service. Speed: Reduce the time it takes to fix a customer's issue. The sooner you solve the problem, the happier and more loyal your customers become. (In the U.S. Samsung's repair network now covers 99% of the U.S. for consumer electronics, and 81% of Americans are within just a 30-minute drive of same-day mobile service.) Simplicity: Remove confusing policies, eliminate unnecessary steps, and actively listen to employees and customers for ideas on how to simplify processes. Service: When you design experiences that put customers first, understand their needs, and effectively solve their issues, you will attract lifelong customers who will continue to buy from you because they know they can trust you, even when something goes wrong. Create easy ways for employees to share their thoughts and observations on what could be done better. Frontline workers know firsthand which policies and processes work and which ones frustrate customers. AI works best as a tool that helps people, not as a replacement for them. It empowers staff to focus on understanding customers and resolving their issues, while AI provides instant and relevant information that accelerates the process and enhances accuracy. Customer service is an income-generating department. Reliable products are important, but it's the extra mile in service that makes people choose to do business with a brand again and again. Plus, Mark shares why more than half of Samsung's customer care team in the U.S. has been with the company for over 10 years. Tune in! Quote: "Get to customers quicker and solve their problems before they even know they have a problem." About: Mark Williams is the Head of Customer Care at Samsung Electronics America. Send us a textThe Fertility Awareness Method (FAM) offers a science-backed approach to natural birth control that helps you understand your fertile window through tracking biological markers like basal body temperature and cervical mucus. Nat, a fertility awareness educator, explains how this method empowers women by providing deeper insights into their cycles and hormonal patterns.• FAM is not the rhythm method or natural cycles, but rather tracks ovulation signs specifically• Reliable ovulation signs include basal body temperature, cervical mucus, and sometimes LH tests• Manual charting is preferred over predictive algorithmic apps• Daily tracking takes only minutes but provides powerful insights about fertility status• FAM works effectively even with irregular cycles or PCOS• Ovulation can be confirmed through temperature shifts, making it possible to identify safe periods• Cervical mucus observations don't require large amounts - subtle signs are equally importantConnect with Nat on Instagram @FertilityAwarenessProject or visit fertilityawarenessproject.ca. In this episode, the hosts delve into the reliability of the Bible, with a particular focus on the moral content of scripture and its implications for one's faith. They discuss how younger generations perceive the Bible as unreliable due to its moral teachings, particularly in relation to contemporary cultural values. Christianity does have a clear moral vision, but most importantly, it finds its stability in Christ. eir, Ireland's leading telecommunications provider, today announces the nationwide launch of its ultra-fast 5 Gigabit (5Gb) fibre broadband, setting a new benchmark for speed, performance, and connectivity in Irish homes. This follows eir's February rollout of Ireland's first WiFi 7 system, introducing Wide-Fi, a cutting-edge mesh network that eliminates dead zones and supports up to 200 devices - delivering speeds twice as fast as WiFi 6. eir has built Ireland's largest fibre network, now available to more than 1.3 million homes and businesses - and expanding every day. As part of a €1.7 billion investment in digital infrastructure, eir is upgrading eligible 2Gb customers on its WiFi 7-powered Wide-Fi system to 5Gb speeds - significantly enhancing how people work, stream, and connect. eir's powerful new 5Gb speed tier is available today - and as a major bonus, thousands of customers who signed up for WiFi 7 and 2 Gigabit fibre plans earlier this year will be automatically upgraded at no extra cost. The launch comes at a perfect time, as one of the world's most anticipated game updates is set to drop in the coming days. With an estimated 80GB download size, eir 5Gb fibre can handle the entire update in as little as two minutes - more than twice as fast as 2Gbps connections - ensuring less time waiting and more time playing. "With 5Gb speeds and cutting-edge WiFi 7, eir is delivering the ultimate broadband experience for busy modern homes - where everyone is online, all at once, for everything from streaming the latest GAA match to studying, gaming, working remotely, or simply unwinding with a movie," said Kealan Donoghue, Managing Director of eir's Consumer and Small Business Division. "Only eir offers this powerful combination of next-generation WiFi 7 and 5Gb fibre connectivity in Ireland - making us the clear choice for families who expect more from their internet. With the launch of 5Gb fibre, we're offering customers next-generation connectivity at incredible value, and we're proud to reward our early adopters by upgrading their service for free." eir 5Gb fibre isn't just for gaming and streaming - it's engineered to support the evolving needs of modern households and businesses: Reliable, multi-device smart home support Ultra-low latency for online gaming and AR/VR experiences Lightning-fast cloud access for remote work and content creation Seamless 4K/8K streaming, HD video calls, and file transfers - all at once From 4 June, eir's 5Gb broadband with WiFi 7 replaces the 2Gb plan for eir customers, available from just €49.99 per month - significantly undercutting rival offerings. eir customers benefit from the latest WiFi 7 technology for superior in-home performance. With fibre-to-the-home usage up nearly 40% year-on-year, eir continues to expand its future-ready network to meet growing demand. To learn more or check availability, visit eir.ie. We're back with Episode 93 of the Camerosity Podcast! This time, we've altered our recording time to better suit those of our listeners across the pond who are normally sleeping when we record at our usual time. For this 'European time zone friendly' episode, we welcome special guest, collector, and author John Wade who has written or contributed to more than 30 books, including a couple which I have relied on for several of my camera reviews. In addition to John, we were joined by callers Brian MacDomhnaill from Ireland, Fernando Villava from Germany, Guy from Germany, Leon Blankenhorn from Germany, and domestic callers Miles Libak and Andrew Madsen. And of course we had our regular hosts, Anthony Rue, Stephen Strangways, and our time zone friendly recording time also allowed Paul Rybolt to join us who has been vacationing in Ireland for the past month. As this episode was recorded at 4am in Sydney, we gave Theo the day off. With John's expertise, we spent a lot of time talking about Britain's only 35mm SLR, the Wrayflex. As the author of the only specialized book on the Wrayflex and the company who made it, John has a fascinating level of knowledge on this attractive and quirky camera. In addition to Wray, we spent a lot of time talking about clockwork cameras, you know, those cameras that have a spring tensioned wind up film advance mechanism. We discussed a wide variety of models from the very first wind up camera, the Japy Le Pascal, Ansco No.1A Automatic Ansco, and later cameras like the Debrie Sept, Bell & Howell Foton, Canon Dial, Ansco Auto Half, GOMZ Leningrad, and others. We briefly talk about the British Leica copy, the Reid and Sigrist Reid camera and the American equivalent the Premiere Instrument Kardon, among other popular British cameras. In addition to John's contributions, Paul shares with us another 617 camera he's got his eye on, Brian tells a tale about lenses he thinks he needs and never uses, Mike shares an uncommon German camera he recently GASsed over, Guy brags about all his working Rollei A110s, the brightness of the Olympus Pen F's viewfinder, and we go around the room asking which cameras each of us have the most duplicates of. As always, the topics we discuss on the Camerosity Podcast are influenced by you! Please don't feel like you have to be an expert on a specific type of camera, or have the level of knowledge on par with other people on the show. We LOVE people who are into shooting or collecting cameras, no matter how long you've been doing it, so please don't consider your knowledge level to be a prerequisite for joining! The guys and I rarely know where each episode is going to go until it happens, so if you'd like to join us on a future episode, be sure to look out for our show announcements on our Camerosity Podcast Facebook page, the Camerosity Discord server, and right here on mikeeckman.com. We usually record every other Monday and announcements, along with the Zoom link are typically shared 2-3 days in advance. For our next episode, we are going back to our regular recording time and will be welcoming Meredith and Corey Reinker from Roberts Camera/Used Photo Pro in Indianapolis, Indiana to share with us their stories selling vintage cameras on eBay and in a well established retail environment. We may welcome some callers from other camera stores too, but you'll just have to join us to see who calls in! We will record Episode 94 on Monday, June 16th at 7pm Central Daylight Time and 8pm Eastern Daylight Time. National Broadband Ireland (NBI), the company responsible for delivering the Government's National Broadband Plan (NBP), has announced that two-thirds of homes, farms and businesses in the rollout area can now connect to high-speed broadband. There are now 367,154 premises that have been passed with NBI fibre (out of the 564,000 currently included in the NBP Intervention Area). This follows a decision earlier this year to bring forward the connection timeline for 65,000 homes, farms and businesses, ensuring faster access to fibre broadband for thousands of families and communities across rural Ireland. When a premises is passed, an order can be placed to connect to high-speed fibre broadband on the NBI Network. People living and working in rural Ireland can enter their Eircode on the NBI website, www.nbi.ie, to see if their home or business is included in the rollout and how to get connected. With more than 50 broadband providers actively selling on NBI's open-access network, rural communities now have access to the same level of competition and choice as those in urban areas. Customers can select from a wide range of internet providers, with competitive pricing and bundled packages available nationwide. The rollout is already delivering meaningful impact with 129,079 premises already connected. Take-up rates now average 35% and continue to climb, approaching 60% in areas where the network has been live the longest such as the rural areas near Athlone, Castlebar and Emyvale. Fibre broadband is also live on ten offshore islands, including Hare Island, Collanmore Island and Rutland Island, with build works significantly completed on others, including Achill Island, where people can now order connectivity on the NBI Network. Independent research has highlighted early social and economic benefits, such as improved quality of life, increased productivity for rural businesses, and enhanced access to services, showing the transformative potential of the NBP as it nears completion. Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O'Donovan, T.D., said: "This is a major milestone for the National Broadband Plan and for rural Ireland. Two-thirds of homes, farms and businesses in the rollout area can now access world-class connectivity - a transformative step for communities, businesses and families across the country. Reliable high-speed broadband is no longer a luxury; it is a necessity, and I am proud of the Government's ongoing commitment to ensuring every home, no matter how remote, is given the opportunity to thrive in a connected world." Peter Hendrick, Chief Executive Officer, National Broadband Ireland, said: "We are proud to have passed two-thirds of the premises in the State intervention area, bringing us significantly closer to our goal of delivering high-speed fibre broadband to every home, farm and business in the rollout area. The strong and growing take-up rate reflects the demand for reliable connectivity in rural Ireland and the trust people are placing in the NBI network. With over 50 retail providers offering services on our open-access network, end users have real choice and access to world-leading speeds." Progress update as of 23.05.2025: The number of premises passed, and which can connect to NBI's fibre network, is 367,154. 129,079 premises are already connected. The average take-rate is 35%. Take-up is approaching 60% where services have been available for longer. 95% of the project (537,286 premises) has moved to or through construction. 100% of premises have been surveyed. Take-up rates are approaching 60% in the Deployment Areas that were released first. 955 Broadband Connection Points (BCPs) have been installed and are live with 672 of these in schools. A high-speed broadband connection through NBI is available for order on 10 of the 27 islands included in the rollout. The remaining 17 islands are in various stages of survey and design works. The data center industry is experiencing substantial growth, placing increasing pressure on the power grid to meet the rising demand. These facilities necessitate continuous power supply with zero interruptions and demand highly reliable backup power to minimize downtime. The expansion of data centers is contributing to a disparity between the demand for power and the capacity of the grid to supply it, which may result in gaps ranging from several months to multiple years. Consequently, numerous developers are exploring alternative power supply options to address these challenges. Solutions that act as a bridge to grid power, commonly referred to as bridge power, are becoming increasingly essential. Reliable bridge power solutions are critical for enabling stakeholders to expedite revenue generation and enhance the resilience of these mission-critical developments. Users may also decide to forgoe the utility and procure a self-generated behind-the-meter permanent solution. When considering a bridge power or self-generation behind-the-meter solution, one of the first factors to examine is the length of time from power need to utility availability. A key question arises: when can we expect the utility power to be available? Accurately assessing the length of time for which the bridge solution is required is vital in determining various other components of the power system. A bridge power solution acts as a temporary or permanent on-site power plant for a data center, providing not only immediate energy needs but also the potential for long-term flexibility and scalability. This adaptability in both duration and equipment selection significantly accelerates the ability to respond to market demands, ensuring that the data center capacity can continue to expand to meet data storage needs. The next critical consideration in the development of bridge or behind-the-meter power energy solutions is fuel, as it represents one of the most significant ongoing expenses for projects that operate continuously, 24/7. Natural-gas-fueled reciprocating engine generators have been proven to be highly effective in distributed generation applications. They offer reliable power supply, straightforward maintenance procedures, and low life-cycle costs, making them an attractive option for many operators. Additionally, natural gas is widely available across most regions in the country, and its comparatively low market prices in various areas enhance the appeal of reciprocating engines, making them a cost-effective solution. As projects extend into longer timeframes, the option to incorporate gas turbines becomes increasingly relevant. These turbines are particularly well-suited for long-term applications and can be effectively combined with reciprocating engines to optimize capacity and ensure an uninterrupted power supply. This combination allows operators to leverage the strengths of both technologies, ensuring efficiency and reliability in energy production. In situations where natural gas is not accessible, but the project's duration justifies the use of natural gas solutions, a virtual pipeline system can be deployed. A virtual pipeline consists of a modular approach utilizing either Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) or Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). These gases can be transported through various modes effectively bridging the gap in areas lacking direct natural gas infrastructure. The flexibility of virtual pipelines enables efficient delivery of fuel to remote sites well before a conventional pipeline is constructed. A bridge or behind-the-meter power solution represents a substantial investment, and like any significant financial commitment, it comes with various inherent risks the project. These risks can be categorized into several areas including: technology risks, environmental permitting risks, construction risks, and financial risks. To streamline the complexities of the project, it is advisable to collaborate with an experienced partner specializing in bridge and permanent power solutions. The ideal partner should demonstrate a robust track record of installing and servicing comprehensive power solutions and employ a network of service technicians. These experts can offer a wide range of support, from basic planned maintenance and overhauls to detailed long-term service agreements that ensure sustained performance. Moreover, the partner should ideally manage the entire project lifecycle, handling engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) while supplying all necessary components, including engines, generators, transformers, switchgear, fuel treatment systems, and other essential ancillary equipment. Another crucial aspect is the partner's diverse financing capability. This includes the ability to finance the entire infrastructure rather than just the generation equipment and to provide flexible financing programs tailored to meet unique project needs. To address the surging demand for power, companies are actively exploring alternative generation solutions such as permanent self-generation, bridge power, and enhanced load flexibility. This examination of options underscores the urgent need for technology-agnostic strategies, highlighting the effectiveness of a holistic solutions approach. In an industry striving to expand data center capacity to meet insatiable demand, adopting these innovative solutions is essential for long-term success and competitive advantage.

It's a vital part of life. It saves us from getting hit by cars, it helps us focus on – solving problems. But when stress becomes a way of life instead of a part of life, – that's when we see more of the problems.” — Jordan Friedman [0:20:13] “Yes, meditating can help you feel calmer. It can take the edge off [your] stress and anxiety, but if that stress and anxiety continues to flow into your life – you might get into a situation where meditation isn't enough.” — Jordan Friedman [0:26:52] “Something we get wrong – is that we're putting band aids on things that need more attention than a band aid.” — Jordan Friedman [0:27:25] “We have great control over our fight or flight responses; maybe not initially when we're first slammed with the stressor, but pretty soon after, the way we think about things [and] what we do can help us get back on our feet and move in a clearer, more confident, less stressed way.” — Jordan Friedman [0:34:37] “It's not only about changing your life situations to stop the fire hydrant of stress. It's also doing things to – keep your roots solid; breathing, sleeping, exercise, all of it.” — Jordan Friedman [0:38:34] “Reliable, predictable things in your life, [like] going to bed and waking up at the same time each day, – will help counter a lot of the lack of predictability that causes so much stress in the world.” — Jordan Friedman [0:44:09] Watch our Finding Brave episodes on YouTube!
