Understandthis clearly: Satan did not quote God's Word completely. And he did not quoteit correctly or in its proper context. My friend, Satan is not afraid when youquote Scripture—especially if you do not understand it. He is not intimidatedwhen you use verses out of context, perhaps just to make yourself feel betterabout what you are doing. Overthe years, as a pastor, I have seen many people do exactly that when they wereconfronted with some sin in their life. They would say, “It must be okay, because the Bible says….” I'll never forget in my early days as a pastor I wasasked to meet with a family late one night and talk to the wife who wascommitting adultery. When we lovingly confronted her, she actually said, “Godsaid in the Bible that you're supposed to love everybody. I love my husband, and I love this other person too.” Wow! You almost can't imagine how cansomeone quote Scripture out of context like that and come up with such aconclusion? But it literally happened. That is why we must learn to use theWord of God carefully, rightly, and accurately. Thatis also why Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to show yourselfapproved unto God, rightly dividing the Word of truth.” That is veryimportant. Again, Paul says in Ephesians 6:17, “the sword of the Spirit, whichis the Word of God.” Make sure you rightly know it and correctly apply it! Thereis something else very powerful in this verse. When Paul speaks of “the swordof the Spirit, which is the Word of God,” he is referring to a specific wordfor a specific battle. This is an important point to understand.InEphesians 6:17, Paul does not use the Greek word logos, which oftenrefers to the Word of God in general. Instead, he uses the word rhema, which refers to a specific saying, a particular word spoken for a particularsituation. Why is that important? Because when Satan attacks you, you do notjust need general Bible knowledge. You need specific truth for specific lies. Forexample, when Satan says, “God doesn't love you,” you can answer with Romans5:8: “But God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yetsinners, Christ died for us.” Or you might answer with 1 John 4:9–10: “Inthis the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His onlybegotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be thepropitiation for our sins.” Quote that Scripture back when the devil saysGod does not love you. WhenSatan says, “You've gone too far,” answer with 1 John 1:9: “If we confessour sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us fromall unrighteousness.” When Satan says, “You're not really saved,” answerwith John 10:28, where Jesus said, “I give unto them eternal life, and theyshall never perish.”Yoursalvation is not based on what you do. It is based on what Jesus has alreadydone for you. Onepassage that I memorized as a brand-new Christian, when Satan attacked me withthat very lie, was Romans 8:35–39. The Apostle Paul wrote: “Who shallseparate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, orpersecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written:‘For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for theslaughter.' Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him wholoved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels norprincipalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor heightnor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from thelove of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Myfriend, make sure you use a specific Word to answer a specific attack ofSatan. When you do, you are taking up the sword of the Spirit exactly as Godintended—and He will protect you in that moment.

We share that journey with candour and urgency—why timing mattered, how a call to “give back” became a global mission, and what it takes to turn evidence into action for women, babies, and families. We unpack the role of a chief midwife at scale: elevating the profession, pushing for educated, regulated, and well-resourced midwifery, and ensuring midwife-led models of care are implemented where they save the most lives. The contrasts in maternal mortality are stark, but the solutions aren't mysterious. From essential medicines that actually work in local conditions to policy choices that put women's health at the centre, we look at how ministries and health systems can prioritise dignity and outcomes without setting midwives up to fail.Crisis is another proving ground. When others run out, midwives run into conflict zones, climate disasters, and displacement. That requires leadership, voice, and the right tools. We talk about ICM's partnerships for emergency readiness, the train-the-trainer programs shaping on-the-ground response, and the crucial difference between mere representation and real inclusion at decision-making tables. Then we shift to growth: the Midwifery Leaders Executive Sponsorship Program, the forthcoming ICM Leadership Academy, and the first global leadership competencies designed to guide job descriptions, performance reviews, and national workforce planning with consistency.Data ties it together. The refreshed Midwives Data Hub helps leaders build stronger cases for change and gives educators and students a global view that sharpens local care. We close with stories that stay with you—frontline births in shelters, flags raised at ICM Congress, and a shared commitment not to leave anyone behind. If you believe preventable maternal death should be history, this conversation shows the path forward.Enjoyed the episode? Follow, rate, and share with a colleague who champions midwifery. Taking up the helmet of salvation and putting it on means thatwe are having confidence that we are God's children. We are in His family. Yousee the helmet protects us from the biggest lie of the devil that we are notsafe in Jesus Christ. Listen carefully. One of Satan's most crippling attacksis to make believers feel insecure. Their insecurity produces paralysis. If aChristian thinks, "I might not be saved," then they stop movingforward. Whatwe're talking about is the assurance of our salvation. If we don't have theassurance of our salvation, we stop serving the Lord. We stop praying boldly. We stop living with joy in our lives. We become fearful, anxious and unstablein our walk with God. This is so important. This thing of assurance ofsalvation. Why do we lose our assurance of our salvation? Because the assuranceof our salvation is the joy we are experiencing when we know that we are savedand safe! In1 John chapter 1, John is talking about the eternal life that was manifest tohim. He wrote: “We have seen, we bear witness, we declare to you thateternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us”. Why? Johnsaw Jesus personally for three and a half years and walked and talked with Him.He goes on to write: "That which we have seen and heard, we declare toyou that you also may have fellowship with us. Truly, our fellowship is withthe Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. These things we write to you thatyour joy may be full." Myfriend, what John is writing about in the book of First John is how we can haveassurance of our salvation. Here's the fact. Either we have been saved or we'venot been saved. That's why assurance of salvation deals with these two issues. Inthis epistle John gives three series of tests. The test of obedience, the testof love, and the test of truth. I really encourage you to read the Epistle ofFirst John if you're dealing with doubt and saying to yourself: "I'm notsure I'm saved. I wonder did I ever get saved? I prayed a prayer when I was achild, but now, I don't know that I've ever truly been born again. Yes, I gotbaptized, but I don't know that Jesus is my savior. I don't have that assuranceof salvation." Johngives three series of tests, as I said, and the tests have to do first with sonship. Are you really a son of the Father? You really in the family? Secondly, thereis the test of fellowship. You can be saved and lose fellowship with God. Thefollowing verses in 1 John 1:5-10 have to do with that. They basically say thatif we have fellowship with Him, we walk in the light as He is in the light. Ifwe sin, we can lose that fellowship. But if we confess our sin, He is faithfuland just to forgive us our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Then welove Him. We walk in His truth and we keep His commandments. We're obedient. Thedevil doesn't want you to have the assurance of your salvation even when you'resaved. So that's why John writes in 1 John 5:11-13 “And this is thetestimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Hewho has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not havelife. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son ofGod, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue tobelieve in the name of the Son of God.” My friend, your eternal life is notin who you are and what you do and what you can do for God. Your eternal lifeis in Jesus Christ. Jesustells us in John 10:28-29: “And I give them eternal life and they shallnever perish neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand”. Romans8:38-39 also assures us: “For I'm persuaded that neither death nor life norany other created thing shall be able to separate us from the love of Godthat's in Christ Jesus our Lord”. My friend, this is the helmet, this isthe settled truth. I belong to Christ. I'm kept by Christ and I'll be broughthome by Christ today.

Faith is not in ourselves. It is in the God of the Bible—the Godwho has made great and exceeding promises to us. We must choose to believethose promises. InPsalm 9:10 it says, “Those who know Your name will put their trust in You.For You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who trust in You, who seek You.” Wecan only experience and know God by faith! His many names in the Bible revealHis attributes, His character, and the way He works with us. My friend, faithis not powerful because we are strong. Faith is powerful because God isfaithful. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 30:5 that: “Every word of God ispure. He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.” Tohold up the shield of faith is to put ourselves under God's protection. Thatmeans we are under God's authority and any other authorities He has placed overour lives: Romans 13 reminds us, “Let every soul be subject to the governingauthorities, for there is no authority except from God. The authorities thatexist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists theordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.” Inthis chapter Paul goes on to tell us in verse 13, “Let us walk properly asin the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not instrife and envy.” Notice especially verse 14: “But put on the Lord JesusChrist, and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts.” Thatis so powerful. Put on the Lord Jesus Christ. We have talked about putting offthe old man and putting on the new man. Now we are talking about putting onChrist. Remember Jesus said in John 10:9, “I am the door.” When He saysHe is the door, that is a beautiful picture of a door-shield that is so bigthat it protects us. It keeps the enemy away from us. It shuts the devil out.But Jesus is also the door that we can go into and through, to live a life thatis full of the fullness of God Himself in us and through us—facing the trials, the temptations, and the problems of life. Faithtakes God at His Word. We believe God's promises such as: “If God is for us,who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). James 1:17: “Every good gift andevery perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights.” Philippians 4:19:“God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory in ChristJesus.” And then in Ephesians 1:3, we have already been “blessed withall spiritual blessings in Christ”. So when Satan whispers, “God is holdingout on you,” faith says, “No, God is always good.” When Satan says God doesn'tcare, faith says, “He loved me and gave Himself for me.” When Satan saysyou will fall, faith says, “God is able to keep me from falling.” Myfriend, faith always wins over fear and worry. Faith always puts that shield ofprotection about us. Alsowe need to always remember what Jesus said in John 10:27–28 that His sheep willnever perish, and no one will pluck them out of His hand. That is security. Faithtakes hold of Christ. Faith puts on Christ. Then we make no provision for thelust of the flesh. My friend, we can find forgiveness. We find cleansing. Wefind the washing of the blood taking away every sin that the devil holdsagainst us, accuses us of, and tries to tell us we are not good enough. Becausein God's sight, we have been justified through Christ and Christ alone—not byour goodness. 1John 5:4 sums it up: “This is the victory that overcomes the world, even ourfaith.” We are not fighting for victory. We are fighting from victory.Jesus Christ has already conquered the world, the flesh, and the devil. Our jobis to stand in that victory by faith. So today, by God's grace, take up theshield of faith. Trust God's Word, trust God's character, trust God's plan, trust God's promises. And when those fiery darts come—and they will—remember, they will be quenched by God Himself. And you will be ready to walk that lifethat glorifies Him every day.

From cycling between neonatal units and community visits in Hackney to advising ministers and shaping WHO-backed guidance, she shows how a midwife's craft scales from bedside to policy without losing its heart. The through-line is simple and hard: women deserve to be heard, understood, and supported by confident, competent midwives who have time to build trust. We unpack the formative years in London's melting pot, where culture, church and family shaped everything from pain expression to antenatal priorities. Jacqueline explains why continuity of care is more than a model; it's the context that makes advice land and reduces unnecessary intervention. Her teaching era ran in parallel with hands-on births and multidisciplinary training, proving that credible education starts in the room where it matters most. A master's in public health sharpened her prevention mindset and introduced epigenetics as a practical tool: every conversation on diet, sleep, breastfeeding and safety ripples across generations. Her professional doctorate emerged from a ringing labour ward phone. Studying health-seeking behaviour on a maternity helpline, she found that careful listening and evidence-based reassurance keep many women safely at home longer, lower system pressure, and improve confidence. Those lessons later guided her as England's chief midwife during COVID: pre-vaccine fear, staff shortages, and unequal risk demanded clear triage, protection for women facing domestic violence in lockdown, and targeted support for Black and Asian women disproportionately affected. Looking outward, she champions three landmark documents on midwife models of care from WHO and partners, calling them the blueprint for cutting preventable maternal and perinatal deaths if leaders choose to act.Come for the story of a midwife who never left the bedside behind; stay for a clear, actionable case for midwife-led care that puts safety, dignity and public health first. Day 4 brings the focus back to movement — specifically, the lower body.Hips, knees, and ankles take the brunt of daily life and training. Sitting, running, lifting, fighting, jumping — it all funnels through the lower half. When movement options disappear here, compensations show up everywhere else. This session is about restoring those options.Lower Body Mobility isn't about stretching for the sake of it. It's about improving joint function, control, and usable range so strength and conditioning can actually do their job. Better movement at the hips and ankles means cleaner squats, stronger hinges, more efficient running, and less stress on the knees and lower back. You'll work through controlled, intentional movements that:Open the hips without dumping stabilityRestore ankle range for better foot and knee mechanicsImprove control at end rangesReinforce positions you actually train and live inThis session also acts as a movement audit. You'll quickly identify where things feel smooth, where they feel restricted, and where extra attention is needed. That awareness carries forward into every lift, sprint, and conditioning session that follows.Like everything in the RAMP Package, this is scalable. Along the way we challenge how naming shapes midwifery's visibility in research and policy, and we keep circling a core truth: informed choice isn't a slogan, it's practice. We also look ahead with purpose. Unplayable,Why Men Shrink Themselves and Attraction Dies, Episode 294A lot of men do not lose their relationship all at once, they lose themselvesfirst.Inthis episode, I break down a pattern that shows up in heterosexualrelationships everywhere. A man starts out confident, funny, grounded, andattractive, then once he gets attached he starts editing himself to keep peaceand keep access. He over gives. He over explains. He swallows conflict. Hebecomes agreeable instead of authentic. And slowly, attraction dies.Wealso talk about the uncomfortable piece people avoid. In some relationships, warmth, distance, and intimacy become a steering wheel. Not always on purpose, not in every couple, but often enough that many men end up trained to managemoods instead of leading their lives.Thisis not a men bad, women bad episode. It is a mechanics episode. Men willrecognise how they become playable, meaning steerable by fear, withdrawal, andreward. Women will recognise how a man can start to feel less solid over time, and why that shift changes attraction.Iclose with a step by step way out, how to rebuild backbone without becomingrude, how to stop walking on eggshells, how to reset respect, and how to becomeunplayable in the healthy sense, like an NPC in a video game, a character withpurpose and a code that cannot be controlled by someone else's reward andpunishment system.Emailthe show, yprpodcast@gmail.comKeywords,walking on eggshells, attraction, dead bedroom, husband to roommate, approvalseeking, people pleasing, respect in relationships, intimacy as leverage, masculine backbone, dating psychology, heterosexual relationships, relationshipadvice podcast, unplayable, NPCYouTubetagsunplayable,NPC, men shrink themselves, walking on eggshells, attraction dies, deadbedroom, husband to roommate, people pleasing, approval seeking, intimacy asleverage, respect in relationships, relationship psychology, dating psychology, marriage advice, masculine backbone, heterosexual relationships, podcastrelationships, You are Probably Right

Thefirst thing that we see as an evidence of spiritual maturity and spiritualgrowth is that we are Christlike in our attitude, actions and speech. Jesus wasalways submitted to the will of His Father. Read the Gospels. Jesus always didHis Father's will. This quote from Psalms is most descriptive of Jesus: “Ihad delight to do Thy will. Oh my God. Thy law is written within my heart” (Psalm40:8). That was the heart and mind of Jesus, my friend. That's what happens tous when we're submitted in obedience to the will of God. As Oswalt Chamberssaid in one of his writings. We'vebeen perfectly adjusted to the fact that Christ lives in us, and we now know andlive in His righteousness. We're robed in that righteousness, and we want towalk with Him with all of our heart. It's a surrendered life, as Andrew Murrayput it. Thenwe see the second evidence of our spiritual growth is stability. We're nolonger children tossed to and fro. Today, we looking at the third evidence of our spiritual growth that wefind in verse 15: “But speaking the truth in love may grow up in allthings unto Him who is the head Christ”. The third evidence of spiritualmaturity is that we consistently “speak the truth in love”. Someonehas said that truth without love is brutality, but love without truth ishypocrisy. We somehow another, by the grace of God, can combine the two. Youmust have truth expressed in love. I love that verse in Psalm 85:10 where itsays, "Love and truth and mercy have met. Righteousness and peace havekissed." I believe this happened at the cross of Calvary. It was therethe truth of God, that we're sinners that our sin must be punished, met withthe love and mercy of God, as Christ died in our place for our sins. We now canbe set free from our sin and experience peace along with God's righteousness! Nowwe can speak truth out of a heart of love to those around us because we'veexperienced the love of God. 1 John 4:7-11 tells us where this love comes from:"Beloved, let us love one another. For love is of God, and everyone wholoves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God. ForGod is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God hassent His only begotten Son into the world that we might live through Him. Inthis is love, not that we love God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to bethe propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought to loveone another." Evidencethat we have spiritual maturity is that we can love, but we love in truth. We speakthe truth in love. We don't speak the truth to hurt, to condemn, todestroy, to tear down. We speak it in love to build up, to encourage, to help aperson get back on track. We speak the truth in love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8tells us the kind of love that God has and that we should have. “Lovesuffers long. Love is kind. Love does not envy. Love does not parade itself. Isnot puffed up. Does not behave rudely. Does not seek its own. Is not provoked.Thinks no evil, does not rejoice in iniquity, rejoices in the truth, love bearsall things.” Whenwe have a heart that is surrendered and obedient to the will of the Lord GodAlmighty, we will have the mind of Christ, and we will speak the truth withlove. It will be evidence that there is something in our heart that's differentthan when the natural man is in control of our lives and tearing down anddestroying the lives of those around us as we see so often in Christian circles.God help us to have this mark of spiritual maturity, and spiritual growth, andthat is “speaking the truth in love”. Godbless!

We sit down with Amanda Firth to unpack the hidden seams of maternity care: where well-meaning screening tools miss people, where interpreters enter too late, and where equity hinges on small, repeatable habits in busy clinics.Amanda traces a path from home births and district hospitals to a PhD on refugee and asylum-seeking women's perinatal mental health. She reveals how identity, migration status, and access to interpreters shape outcomes, and why midwives sometimes reword screening tools just to get women the help they clearly need. We break down trauma-informed care that protects both women and clinicians, and explore the overlooked solution of training midwives and interpreters together so mental health conversations become safer, clearer, and culturally grounded.Beyond the consult room, we tackle workforce realities: staffing ratios, burnout, and the urgency of continuity of carer. Amanda shares how to translate research beyond paywalls into practice people can use—turning dense papers into plain language and peer learning that sticks. It's an honest, hopeful look at building fair maternity systems, starting with what you can change today while the bigger machinery catches up.If this resonates, follow the show, share it with a colleague, and leave a quick review. We sit down with the Senior Midwifery Advisor at the Commonwealth Chief Nursing and Midwifery Office to map a career that spans MGP caseloads, tertiary units, regional hospitals under flood and fire, and the long arc of a PhD that changed how she sees student learning and continuity of care.Olivia takes us inside the contrasts that shaped her practice: the intimacy of continuity models versus the shock of high-acuity tertiary care, the autonomy and breadth of regional shifts, and the logistics of transfers when roads close and distance is daily reality. She explains why continuity of care experience (COCE) lights a spark in students, how following women through pregnancy, birth and postnatal periods turns theory into grounded judgement, reflection, and confidence. Her research journey is frank and relatable: withdrawing, restarting, choosing supervisors who fit, sitting with uncertainty until the work clicks, and then using that evidence to improve how students learn across varied placements. We also explore what it means to lead from policy. Olivia argues for midwives at every decision table, translating lived practice into better guidelines, workforce planning and equitable access, especially for regional and remote communities. She shares how endorsed midwife pathways, prescribing shifts and smarter placement design can reduce attrition and keep midwives in roles that match their philosophy and scope. Through it all, she keeps a link to research, ensuring national decisions are tested against evidence and the realities of care.If you care about continuity, education that actually works, and policies that respect both women and the profession, you'll find both clarity and courage here. We sit down with Deborah Fox to unpack a career that moved from the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra to the frontline of woman-centred maternity care — and into the engine room where new technologies are designed. From scaling a water birth service in Singapore to shaping wireless CTG so women can keep moving in labour, Deborah shows how evidence and empathy can live alongside devices without crowding out choice. We walk through the findings of her grounded theory PhD on intrapartum transfer and why the real friction often occurs between midwives across settings, not between midwives and obstetricians. The fix isn't blame; it's continuity, shared protocols, and a culture that holds the woman at the centre. Deborah's current work uses mediation theory to ask smarter questions about technology: not whether it's good or bad, but how it shapes care — and how midwives and women can shape it back. That approach now guides collaborations with industry so future fetal monitoring and maternity devices embody mobility, consent, and informed choice from the start. The horizon is bold and necessary: virtual maternity wards and remote monitoring that keep complex pregnancies at home with strong midwifery relationships, timely escalation, and less disruption for families. In a country where distance defines access, this is more than convenience; it's equity. We talk practical steps for protecting physiology in every setting — from skin-to-skin in theatre to mobility in labour — and the habits that keep relational care alive across screens and sensors. If you care about safer births, better choices, and technology that serves people rather than the other way around, this conversation will give you fresh tools and a hopeful roadmap. John Pendleton swapped the BBC's long-form documentaries for the long arc of labour, finding the same core craft in both worlds: showing up, listening deeply, and holding space through life-changing moments. We trace his path from community midwife to senior lecturer, and how a planned PhD on third stage physiology morphed into a bracing inquiry about gender, power, and presence in the birth room.We talk candidly about why people choose midwifery—and why many leave in years three to five. Younger cohorts are arriving straight from school while funding gaps, means-tested allowances, and a rising cost of living push placements and part-time work into the same week. Continuity-of-carer promises better outcomes but collides with childcare at 2 a.m. AI may streamline admin, but hands-on, relational care remains the human core. The hard question is practical: how do we build wraparound support so midwives can deliver the care families want without burning themselves out?John opens the black box of his research: an interpretive phenomenological study asking what it's like for men working as midwives. The answers live in details—where you stand, how you seek consent, when you offer a chaperone—and reveal how gender operates as power, not just identity. That lens widened into a hotly debated paper on gender-inclusive language and whether “midwife” still serves everyone we care for. The media firestorm missed the nuance, but the academic work stands: read to think, not to react. Along the way, we dig into decolonising midwifery education, teaching cultural humility, and why rigorous mentorship in physiological birth still matters. If you care about safer, kinder maternity care—closing racial inequities, protecting informed consent, and keeping brilliant clinicians in the job—this conversation offers both realism and hope. Welcometo Pastor's Chat. Today we're looking at Ephesians 3:14-19. These are powerfulverses reminding us of the Apostle Paul's prayer for the church at Ephesus. Inthis prayer, there are four request, but they're not to be looked at asinsulated individual petitions because these four requests are like four partsto a telescope. One request leads into the next one and so on. He prays thatthe inner man might have spiritual strength, which will, in turn, lead to adeeper experience with Christ. This deeper experience will enable him to “apprehend”(to get a hold) of God's great love, which will result in being “filled untothe fullness of God”. So, then, Paul is praying for strength, for depth inour spiritual life, for apprehension, and for fullness. That'swhat we'll be talking about these next couple days because this prayer, thispetition is so vitally important to our spiritual growth and our spiritualwell-being and our spiritual standing as we fight and stand against the wilesof the evil one (Ephesians 6). Please read the petition in these six versescarefully. Oh my friend, it's almost unimaginable that we have a prayer herethat tells us that on earth we can be filled with the fullness of God. JesusChrist himself was the exact image of God (Hebrews 1:3). He was the fullness ofGod manifest on earth (Colossians 1:19). Now we as His believers, as His light,as His witnesses, can be filled with the same fullness of God to make a bigdifference in the world in which we live. Oh,if only we as believers would learn this truth and pray for this greatanointing, this great strengthening of the Holy Spirit to make us all that weshould be for the glory of God. The lack of power and weakness of the churchestoday is that we have no idea as far as most believers are concerned what wehave in Christ Jesus and the fullness of God and the riches of His glory that'savailable to us. And that through this prayer that we read about here we can experiencethis power and strength in our lives Thefirst thing Paul prays for is “to be strengthened with might throughHis Spirit in the inner man”. The presence of the Holy Spirit in our lifeis evidence of our salvation. Romans 8:9 says: “But you are not in the fleshbut in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyonedoes not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His”. Scripture is very clearthat at the moment of our salvation, the Holy Spirit comes to indwell us. But thepower of the Holy Spirit is enablement for Christian living. It's this powerthat Paul desires for these believers here at Ephesus. InActs 1:8, Jesus had said to the disciples, you shall receive power after thatthe Holy Spirit is come upon you. We are told in Luke 4:1, 14, that Jesusperformed His ministry on earth in the power of the Holy Spirit. This power ofthe Holy Spirit is the only resource that we have for Christian living today. When you read through the book of Acts, over and again you see the importanceof the Holy Spirit in the life of the church. There are at least some fifty-ninereferences to the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts. This is one fourth of allthe references found in the New Testament on the Holy Spirit. Someonesaid, that if God took the Holy Spirit out of the church today, He wouldn'teven be missed because we would just go on working as usual. How sad that thisis so true. We can't imagine the wisdom that we would have, the strength thatwe would, the witness that we would in the world, if we would receive this greattruth and allow the Holy Spirit to fill us. living and working in us, andthrough us. Today, how real is the Holy Spirit to you? Are you praying to “be strengthened withmight through His Spirit” to face the challenges of living theChristian life in today's godless culture? Are you praying this for others too? Godbless!

That's where Christine Catling starts—then she takes us through three decades of midwifery identity, home birth advocacy, and the quiet systems that make or break trust. We follow her move from UK nursing to Australian midwifery, the spark that led to a qualitative PhD on why women choose home birth, and the national consortium that helped publicly funded home birth services grow across Australia. The pattern is clear: when people feel seen and valued, services improve; when they don't, the costs—human and financial—compound. We dive into the workforce crunch with blunt honesty. Why are midwives leaving between years three and five? What does it cost to lose skills and continuity just as clinicians hit their stride? Christine shares promising findings from a cluster RCT on group clinical supervision and argues for cost analyses that count retention, recruitment, agency use, and the ripple effects on safety. The conversation also tackles freebirth and distrust of institutional care, not with judgment but with a hard look at what it takes to rebuild trust: first impressions that centre the person, informed consent that's real, and models of care that let midwives do midwifery.Along the way, you'll hear how interdisciplinary work sharpens policy, why shared decision-making around induction and elective caesarean is a safeguard, and how compassion—eye contact, presence, a name—can change outcomes in seconds. We end with momentum: papers in the pipeline, global conversations with UK professional midwifery advocates, and a push to turn evidence into resourced policy that keeps midwives and families safer. If you care about midwifery, home birth, workforce sustainability, and humane care that actually works, this one's for you.Enjoyed the conversation? Ephesians1:3-6 is one long sentence. Today we are looking at the blessings that we havefrom God the Father. “Blessed be God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us…” (v.3). Verses 3-6 are speaking of our blessings thatwe have from God the Father. When Jesus Christ wrote His last will andtestament for His church, He made it possible for us to share in His spiritualriches. Instead of spending it all for Him, (as some do when they receive aninheritance), Jesus Christ paid for it all. His death on the cross and Hisresurrection made it possible for our salvation. Myfriend, Jesus wrote us into His will and then He died so that the will would beenforced. That's what the book of Hebrews is about. Then He rose again that Hemight become the heavenly advocate, our lawyer, to make sure that the terms ofthe will were correctly followed. Inthis long sentence Paul begins to name just a few of the blessings that we havethat make up our spiritual wealth. First, we find in verse four here that Godhas “chosen us in Him”. This is the speaking of the marvelous doctrineof election, a doctrine that has confused some and confounded others. Aseminary professor once remarked, "You try to explain election and you'lllose your mind. But try to explain it away and you may lose your soul." TheScriptures teach that salvation begins with God and not with man. AllChristians must agree upon this. "You have not chosen me," Jesussaid, "but I have chosen you." (John 15:16). The lost sinnerleft to his own ways does not seek God. He hides from God. Remember Adam andEve after they sinned (Genesis 3:8). God in His love seeks the sinner (Luke19:10). Notethat God chose us even before He created the universe, so that our salvation iswholly of His grace and not on the basis of anything we ourselves have done. Hechose us in Christ, not in ourselves. And He chose us for a purpose: “to beholy and without blame”. In the Bible, election is always unto something. It is a privilege that carries a great responsibility. We are not elected intothe family of God, we are born into the family of God (John 3:1-7). We are electedto a position of sanctification and service as we participate in the body lifein the family of God! Doesthe sinner respond to God's grace against his own will? No, he responds becauseGod's grace makes him willing to respond (Ephesians 2:8-9). God only gives usthis grace when we humble ourselves under the condemnation of the Law and we acknowledgeand confess that we can only be saved by the death and resurrection of JesusChrist (Romans 10:10-13)! At the same time there is the mystery of divinesovereignty and human responsibility will never be solved in this life. Bothare taught in the Bible (John 6:37). Both are true, and both are essential.Spurgeon said they are friends, and they walk hand in hand. I personally believestrongly in both! Ilove how someone shared how that all three Persons in the Godhead are involvedin our salvation (see also 1 Peter 1:3-5). As far as God the Father isconcerned, you were saved when He chose you in Christ in eternity past. Butthat alone did not save you. As far as God the Son is concerned, you were savedwhen He died for you on the cross. As far as God the Spirit is concerned, youwere saved when you yielded to His conviction and received Christ as your Savior. What began in eternity past was fulfilled in time present, and will continuefor all eternity! Oh,my friend, how wonderful it is to know that we have been chosen in Christbefore the foundation of the world, not to be saved, but “to be holyand without blame before Him in love”. We are a special people. We have a greatblessing. We are “chosen in Him”. Godbless!

Todaywe are talking about the riches that we have in Christ Jesus. Sometimeswe think of the wealthiest people on earth such as Elon Musk being worth over$430 billion and Jeff Bezos, the owner and founder of Amazon, over 200-plusbillion dollars, and other wealthy people. The top five billionaires in theworld altogether—their wealth is over a trillion dollars—and we go, wow, wouldn't we like to have that? Well, my friend, I am telling you, you havesomething better than that. You have eternal riches. Thefact that Paul is writing about wealth would be significant to his readers, because Ephesus was considered the bank of Asia. One of the seven wonders ofthe world, the great temple of Diana, was in Ephesus, and was not only a centerfor idolatrous worship, but also a depository for wealth. Some of the greatestart treasures of the ancient world were housed in this magnificent building. Inthis letter, Paul will compare the church of Jesus Christ to a temple and willexplain the great wealth that Christ has in His church. Paul is saying to us, "BE RICH!" Thatis what Paul says in verse three: “Blessed be the God and Father of our LordJesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenlyplaces in Christ.” Our riches are not in a passing world, a temporaryworld, the temporary wealth of this world. Our riches are found in the eternalperson of Jesus Christ Himself. We have His riches. We are co-inheritors withHim of all the riches of God. Our Father in heaven owns it all. TheHoly Spirit is mentioned many times in this letter, because He is the one whochannels our riches to us from the Father, through the Son. Not to know anddepend on the Holy Spirit's provision is to live a life of spiritual poverty. No wonder Paul began his Ephesian ministry asking some professed Christians ifthey really knew the Holy Spirit (Acts 19:1-7). We might ask professedChristians today, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? Ifthe answer is no, then you are not saved." "Now if any man havenot the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His" (Romans 8:9). Unless youhave the witness of the Spirit (Romans 8:15-16), you cannot draw on the wealthof the Spirit. Inthese first verses of this chapter one of the guarantees that we're going tosee of our salvation and our eternal inheritance in Christ is based on the factthat we have been given the Holy Spirit (vv.11-14). In the Old Testament, promises were made to Israel that they would be blessed with prosperity, withwealth, with land, with material things. But my friend, the blessings that arepromised to the believer are eternal blessings. We're not called to be blessedwith riches physically. The prosperity gospel preachers are deceitfullymisleading many today to believe that God has promised us material wealth now.Actually Jesus promised us poverty and suffering now if we truly follow Him. Ourriches In Christ are not in the sweet by and by. We are rich and blessed inChrist spiritually speaking right now! In Philippians 3, Paul said, "Icount all things but loss for the glory and the riches that I have in ChristJesus… that I might know Him and the power of His resurrection." Ourriches are found in the fact that we have the promise that “our God willsupply all our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians4:19). “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians4:13). Myfriend, today we have the power, the ability, and the desire to please God forheavenly riches, heavenly things, and heavenly results. You can't take yourmoney to heaven with you, but you can take people to heaven with you that youinfluence and impact with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Today, you are rich in Christ. You've been born into tremendous wealth in Christ. Youare seated with Him in the heavenlies even right now. GodBless!
