She's played tough-as-nails characters like Commander Landry in Star Trek Discovery and kidnapped reporter Jessica Roberts in Yellowjackets, but don't think she doesn't have a soft and pensive side herself. For the first time in more than 200 episodes of podcasting, I could not rate this episode!!! It was SO out of left field for me. I did not expect them to go to the Mirror Universe, though, in retrospect, I should have. Opinions were many and spirited for this episode. After re-watching it more than once (I only got to watch it once this week prior to recording), I can tell you that I appreciated the episode a LOT more after the shock of it wore off, but you’ll hear me talk about that a lot this week. All in all, I knew it was (mostly) a great episode this week, but I had so many questions about it, I had to defer my rating. Ruthie also had a lot of questions, but she gave it a rating. She was in one of my favourite shows when younger - John Doe, as well as roles in The Core, main character in The 100, Battlestar Galactica and many many more.Rekha has recently been seen on our screens though, in the new hit CBS show exclusively on Netflix - Star Trek Discovery. Star Trek: Discovery – S1E4 – The Butcher’s Knife Cares Not for the Lamb’s Cry On this episode of The Star Trek Discovery Podcast, Adam and I discuss Season 1 Episode 4, titled The Butcher’s Knife Cares Not for the Lamb’s Cry. We see the “spore drive” working, which explains the weird saucer section of the Discovery, and one of the coolest things we’ve ever seen a starship do! It’s Burnham fighting the monster within herself and dealing with the monster on board Discovery. Who is really a monster? Both, one or neither? Since we’ve all seen the 24th Century of this universe, we know that the spore drive is not commonplace on future Starfleet vessels. However, we’ve just seen just what it can do, and what controls it. We both enjoyed this episode, although I enjoyed it more than Adam did. What can I say? I like cool ships doing cool things, and the spore drive is cool! And Tardigrades play a factor in this episode… you know, those little, resilient water bears? Only this one isn’t so little! Some mysteries from last week are solved, but certain ethical dilemmas seem to present themselves. Are they hurting the Tardigrade? Burnham gets a new uniform! We are treated to some cool effects at the start of this episode, to a surprising result: The creation of Burnham’s uniform! She’s got no rank, but it’s good to see her out of those prison duds! On this episode of The Star Trek Discovery Podcast, Adam and I discuss Season 1 Episode 4, titled The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry. It was a long title, but a really good episode!

Gary and Addell discuss Episode 4, "The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry." Lorca assigns Burnham to study the creature from the Glenn, dubbed a Tardigrade, to find a way to use its biology as a weapon. Starfleet orders Discovery to the dilithium mining colony Corvan II, which is under Klingon attack. Stamets is reluctant to make such a long jump using the spores, and when the drive is activated the ship nearly collides with a star. Lorca sends Commander Landry to keep Burnham's research on track, and she attempts to sedate the Tardigrade (that she names Ripper) to cut off its claw; it kills her. Burnham believes that Ripper was acting in self-defense, and is drawn to the spores. Stamets and Burnham transport it to Engineering, where it connects to the spore drive and interfaces with the navigation system. The ship successfully makes the jump to Corvan II and saves the colony. On T'Kuvma's stranded ship, Klingon leader Kol earns the loyalty of T'Kuvma's desperate followers, and leaves Voq to die in the wreckage of the Shenzhou. Star Trek: Discovery – S1E4 – The Butcher’s Knife Cares Not for the Lamb’s Cry On this episode of The Star Trek Discovery Podcast, Adam and I discuss Season 1 Episode 4, titled The Butcher’s Knife Cares Not for the Lamb’s Cry. We see the “spore drive” working, which explains the weird saucer section of the Discovery, and one of the coolest things we’ve ever seen a starship do! It’s Burnham fighting the monster within herself and dealing with the monster on board Discovery. Who is really a monster? Both, one or neither? Since we’ve all seen the 24th Century of this universe, we know that the spore drive is not commonplace on future Starfleet vessels. However, we’ve just seen just what it can do, and what controls it. We both enjoyed this episode, although I enjoyed it more than Adam did. What can I say? I like cool ships doing cool things, and the spore drive is cool! And Tardigrades play a factor in this episode… you know, those little, resilient water bears? Only this one isn’t so little! Some mysteries from last week are solved, but certain ethical dilemmas seem to present themselves. Are they hurting the Tardigrade? Burnham gets a new uniform! We are treated to some cool effects at the start of this episode, to a surprising result: The creation of Burnham’s uniform! She’s got no rank, but it’s good to see her out of those prison duds! Talking Through Context is for Kings On this episode of The Star Trek Discovery Podcast, we analyze Season 1 Episode 3 of Star Trek: Discovery, titled “Context is for Kings”. We finally get to see the U.S.S. Discovery. We finally have Burnham join the NCC-1031, after two episodes on the Shenzhou under less than ideal circumstances. What about the ship? We didn’t talk a lot about the ship during the episode, so what do we think of it? Well, it’s cool! It looks way better than it did in that original teaser back at Comic-Con 2016. We’re excited to finally see it. We said last time that this is not your father’s Star Trek, and I would also say that Discovery is not your father’s Enterprise. Keep in mind there’s been 51 years since the original show. Technology in 2017 has advanced considerably since 1966. If you want Star Trek to continue for future generations, my advice is don’t get too hung up on it. From what we can see, they are sticking to story canon pretty well… for the most part… and we think that is most important. We have a bit of a mystery as to what’s going on with the Discovery. That may play a bit different than your “problem of the week” did back in the ’80s and ’90s, but, for a long-form serial, this has almost as many mysteries as Westworld did. New Characters! We get to meet new characters in this episode, particularly many from the main cast, such as Stamets, Tilly, and Captain Lorca. Each is much different than you may expect. We both loved Tilly, though one of our listeners didn’t agree. Stamets was not what I expected. Lorca’s going to be an interesting character, and I have tons of questions about his menagerie. We also meet Chief of Security, Commander Landry. Although not on the main cast, I think we’ll be seeing a lot of her for the rest of the season. We also see the sister ship, the U.S.S. Glenn, and a familiar pet of the Captain. We both loved the episode, and can’t wait for next week! Send in your feedback!
