Following the lead, Philippa Georgiou, who is stated to be from an alternate timeline she once ruled over as the Emperor of the Terran Empire, Georgiou struggles with moral dilemmas as she explores her newfound relationships whilst deciding whether to join Starfleet or not. As the movie continues, Georgiou uncovers a mysterious weapon, the Godsend, that she created long ago, threatening the stability of the universe as a whole. Georgiou's journey is presented with multiple complex alliances, enemies, and untrustworthy allies which all serve as obstacles that challenge the progress of her growth as a character and ally. The narrative of “Section 31” mixes themes of loyalty and sacrifice together, blurring the line between what is and isn't considered moral, challenging the viewers to consider how far they would go to protect those that they care about. The movie as a whole provides various insights on the complex emotions those who sacrifice the ones they love for power will face, showing how the past will always come back to haunt you eventually.
