Blah Blah Blah with Katee Sackhoff
The Blah Blah Blah with Katee Sackhoff is an absolute gem of a podcast that I stumbled upon by accident on YouTube. From the moment I started listening, I knew this was going to be my new favorite podcast. Katee is an absolute delight to listen to and watch. Her personality shines through in every episode, making it feel like you're having a conversation with a friend. The guests and co-hosts bring a different perspective and touch that keeps the podcast fascinating and fun.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is Katee's authenticity. She shares stories about her life as a mother, working woman, and just someone trying to do their best, which makes her incredibly relatable. It's refreshing to hear someone speak openly about their experiences without any filters or pretense. In addition, the guests on the show trust her, creating an environment where genuine conversations can take place.
Another great aspect of this podcast is the variety of topics discussed. From motherhood to work to being a good human, Katee covers it all. The conversations are engaging and entertaining, keeping listeners hooked throughout each episode. Additionally, Katee's sense of humor adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the show.
One minor downside to this podcast is the audio quality at times. Some listeners have reported that they have to turn up the volume very high to hear certain parts, while commercials come in loud and clear due to a difference in audio levels. While this doesn't detract from the overall enjoyment of the podcast, it can be a bit frustrating for some.
Overall, The Blah Blah Blah with Katee Sackhoff is an excellent podcast that will quickly become a favorite for fans of Katee and those looking for authentic and entertaining conversations. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to her work, this podcast offers something for everyone. With its engaging style and relatable content, it's easy to see why this podcast is gaining popularity. I can't wait to hear more episodes and see where Katee takes this incredible show.
Happy Tuesday! I love introducing you to my incredibly talented Mandalorian family and this week I am so excited to share my conversation with my friend Brendan Wayne. Along with Lateef Crowder and Pedro Pascal, Brendan is responsible for playing the Mandalorian. We talk about what it's like to be in the suit and how it feels to build a character collaboratively. Brendan is the grandson of John Wayne and you can see that swagger in the way that Mando walks. He is also a fantastic actor in his own right, having appeared in Ahsoka as Lieutenant Lander, as well as in Sons of Anarchy and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. We also talk about how Brendan was shaped by his near-death experience at the beginning of filming Season Two. Brendan is an amazing dad and such an important part of my Mando experience— I can't wait for you to get to know him better! Happy Tuesday, everyone! If you are a fan of Marvel, or Star Trek, or just good Sci-Fi, then you are going to love this week's guest— I'm talking with my new friend Terry Matalas! Terry broke out when he created the TV adaptation of 12 Monkeys. He has gone on to write and direct the last two seasons of Star Trek: Picard, he did a season of MacGyver, and he's currently finishing Vision Quest and an animated adaptation of Magic: The Gathering. Terry has his hands in so many amazing projects and I love to see it because he is truly the nicest, most appreciative guy. Be sure to stick around for the Hindsight this week, where my producer Jeph and I talk about some upcoming appearances and get into some fan questions from the Mail Sack! Hi everyone, happy Tuesday! I am so excited for this week's episode. I'm talking to the one and only Wil Wheaton! You know Wil from his roles as Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: Next Generation, Gordie in Stand By Me and his appearances on The Big Bang Theory. Wil is also a super-nerd and a prolific audiobook reader. He has a new podcast called Storytime with Wil Wheaton, where he reads a new short speculative fiction story each episode and I highly recommend it! We had such a lovely conversation— Wil is a deep thinker and one of the kindest people I know. I can't wait for you to get to know him a little bit better! Stick around after the interview for the hindsight, where my producer Jeph and I talk about the episode, as well as some upcoming live podcast recordings, our new Patreon and oh yeah, time travel! Did you REALLY think we were done with Sam Witwer? When our last episode aired, Sam reached out to say he wanted to respond to some of what my producer Jeph and I said after the interview. We said, why not come back and be on the show again? I'm so glad he said yes! This extra conversation clarified a lot for me about the technology behind his new Star Trek Short 765874 Unification. Plus, the world just found out about Maul: The Shadow Lord, in which Sam is reprising his role as Darth Maul in a new animated series! Jeph and I press him as hard as we can for any details about the show. I know I can't wait to watch— who knows maybe Bo Katan will make an appearance on the show in the future. I'm always glad anytime I get to talk to Sam and I hope you enjoy this extended conversation! Happy Tuesday! If you are a true Star Trek fan like I am, then this week's episode is for you. I am talking with my friends Sam Witwer and David Collins about their beautiful and controversial new Star Trek film, 765874 Unification. If you love Star Trek and haven't heard about this project, go check it out before you listen to this week's episode! Using incredible cutting-edge technology, the film features Spock and Captain Kirk (yes, the originals!) only Kirk is played by Sam. Don't believe me? Watch the film, it will blow your mind. I've known Sam going back to when he played Crashdown on Battlestar Galactica. He has also done voice work for Star Wars: Unleashed and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. David Collins is a prolific sound designer, including for all things Star Wars, from The Mandalorian to Skeleton Crew. I had such a blast nerding out with these guys and I think you will too! Stick around for the hindsight, where my producer Jeph talk about the episode and get into the ethics of using AI to enhance an actor's performance. It's a great conversation! Happy Tuesday, everyone! Lake Bell and I are kind of the same person. You'll hear all about in the episode, but the similarities are WILD. I loved this conversation with Lake-- we nerd out about our favorite cars, we talk about how we've both voiced Poison Ivy and we really bond over our kids' health struggles. Lake is insanely smart and talented and I really admire her so much. She has taken what she learned from her daughter about epilepsy and turned it into a beautiful book called All About Brains. I loved hearing her talk about the book and how it's designed to help kids across the neurodiversity spectrum feel like they have language to talk about their experience. Lake's also a fabulous actor and you may have seen her as Dr. Graham in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Dr. Cat Black on Children's Hospital (Jeph's Favorite) or in ...In A World, which she also wrote and directed. Stick around for the Hindsight after the interview, where Jeph and I talk about some upcoming convention dates and respond to Fan Questions from the Mail Sack! Hi everyone, happy Tuesday! Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a stunt performer? Then you'll love this week's conversation with my guest, Patrick Sabongui. Patrick is a brilliant actor, but he got his start in stunts and if you've watched an action movie in the last 20 years, you've probably seen his work . We first met when on Christmas Sail, where he played Luke Fletcher. He also played Chief David Singh on the Flash and is currently starring as Jacob Hassani in the new show The Hunting Party. I found it so fascinating to learn more about his process as an actor because he approaches everything through the lens of physical technique and martial arts. Patrick's also a professor and honestly I feel like this interview was a free acting class! I learned a lot, and I think you will too. Happy Tuesday! We've got a great episode for you this week. If you are a fan of Star Trek or Walking Dead, then you know Sonequa Martin-Green. In addition to playing Sasha Williams and Commander Michael Burnham on Discovery, Sonequa is currently starring alongside Natalie Morales in the moving new film My Dead Friend Zoe. I have been a fan of Sonequa's work for a long time and I absolutely loved her performance in the new movie. We covered a lot of ground in our conversation from how to build a “show family,” to the role faith plays in her life as an actor, to the inspiring work she and My Dead Friend Zoe director Kyle Hausmann-Stokes are doing to start a dialogue about mental health among veterans. Happy Tuesday everyone! I'm so excited for you to listen to this episode. I first met Cassidy Freeman on Longmire, where she played Cady Longmire. Before that, you may have seen her as Tess Mercer on Smallville and she's currently starring in the final season of Righteous Gemstones, where she plays Amber Gemstone. Cassidy is obviously extremely talented, and she's freaking hilarious on Gemstones. But man if you listen to this interview you'll learn that she's also just a badass person. She's a fearless friend and a great mom and I love getting to talk to her about life, career, motherhood and everything else. I can't wait for you to get to know her a little better! Be sure to stick around for the hindsight, where producer Jeph and I recap our recent whirlwind trip to Indiana where we recorded a live episode of The Sackhoff Show. Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a wonderful Spring. I'm so excited for you to listen to today's episode! If you're a fan of Schitt's Creek, then you know Sarah Levy from playing Twyla in the show-- she also happens to be the daughter of Eugene Levy and the sister of Dan Levy. I had such a fun time hearing the inside scoop on that show, which is one of my favorites of all time, as well as what it was like to grow up in such a funny family. Sarah is currently starring as Aunt Ida in a new horror movie called The Monkey, which is adapted from a Stephen King short story and directed by Osgood Perkins. We talk about how much fun she had doing horror (if you haven't seen the movie yet, it sounds TERRIFYING). Sarah lost her home in the Palisades fire, so the conversation starts in a vulnerable place— but I'm so glad it did, because we get to go deep pretty fast, and I feel like I made a new friend! Be sure to stick around for the hindsight, where my producer Jeph and I talk about the episode and respond to listener fact checks from the Mail Sack! Happy Tuesday Everyone! Last week's episode with Battlestar Galactica creator Ron Moore was such a doozy, we had to call in re-enforcements to discuss it. And who better than my Battlestar Bestie Tricia Helfer? You know Tricia from her role as Number Six. She also played Charlotte Richards/Goddess on Lucifer and voiced Sarah Kerrigan in StarCraft II, among many other roles. I love any excuse to get together with Tricia and it was such a blast to do a deep dive into Ron's interview (Sorry, Ron— we're not over it!). We talk about how Ron built a collaborative set on Battlestar, getting booed at our first Comic-Con, the moment Tricia switched from dying her real hair to wearing a wig as Number Six, and so much more! Plus, Tricia and I brainstorm projects for our reunion— Cagney and Lacey, anyone?
Look out, everyone: This week's episode is an all-timer! We've got the one and only Ron Moore in the STUDIO. I am still so intimidated by Ron and it was such an honor to sit down with him for this conversation. If you DON'T know Ron Moore, I don't even know what to say. He created Battlestar Galactica, Outlander and For All Mankind. He spent a decade writing for Star Trek, on both The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. His mark on American sci-fi is massive and I can't believe I get to call him my friend. We talk about all things Battlestar, including a really beautiful conversation about the show's ending. We talk about how he got his start writing for Trek, what he's learned from the characters he's created and what's next on the horizon for him. I know you'll enjoy this conversation, it's one of my absolute favorites. After the interview, stick around for a tease of next week's episode— We've got something super-fun and special planned for you! Come see us live in Indiana! Hi everyone! We've got a really fun episode for you today. It's not every week I get to interview someone where I'm just genuinely a huge fan, but that is what happened with Harvey Guillen. I literally went up to him at a convention and told him I loved him (couldn't help myself!). If you don't know Harvey's work as Guillermo in What We Do in the Shadows, stop what you're doing and go watch. I absolutely love him on that show. He's got a new movie out called Companion, where he plays Eli. You may also know his amazing voice work in movies like Wish, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and The Garfield Movie. It was such a treat to spend some time with him and get to know him better! I particularly loved getting to talk to him about his red carpet collaborations with Christian Siriano and others. After the interview, be sure to stick around for the Hindsight where producer Jeph and I talk about why he has so many pictures of me on his phone! Plus, we pull fan questions from the Mail Sack. Come see us live in Indiana! Get your tickets here! https://indianacomicconvention.com/feature/the-sackhoff-show/
Happy Tuesday, everyone! For today's episode, I am getting into the ring with my friend Mercedes Varnado (more wrestling puns to come, don't worry). I met Mercedes on The Mandalorian where she plays Koska Reeves, and she is a superstar in the world of wrestling. As Sasha Banks, she was the first woman to headline a WWE Pay-Per-View Event and as Mercedes Moné, she is the current AEW TBS Champion in her first reign. She doesn't give very many interviews out of character, so this was a real treat. We talk about wrestling and acting, and what they have in common, and we just talk about life. It was interesting to hear her reflect on her evolution as an entertainer and what it has taken to become the CEO of her own career. Be sure to get up off the mat and stick around for the Hindsight (see what I did there?) where my producer Jeph and I talk about the interview and answer fan questions from the Mail Sack! Happy Tuesday! We've got a super-fun episode for you this week— it's my friend, the hilarious Rachael Harris! Rachael is hands down one of the funniest people I know and if you don't know her name, you definitely know her work. She's been in movies like The Hangover, Best in Show and Diary of a Wimpy Kid and has done a ton of TV, including playing Sheila Sazs on Suits and Linda Martin on Lucifer. We talk about where her sense of humor comes from and how it has gotten her through difficult times in life. We laugh a LOT in this episode, and the conversation also gets deep pretty fast— we talk about both choosing surrogacy and how having kids changed how we view our parents. It's a beautiful conversation with one of my favorite people— I hope you check it out! Be sure to stick around for the Hindsight, where producer Jeph tells me about Winnebago Man and we trade horror stories about terrible cups of coffee. Hi everyone! For today's episode, I got to talk with one of my absolute best friends in the world. You guys, it's Adam Bartley! Adam and I first met on Longmire, where he played The Ferg. We have stayed super-close over the years— he even lived in my backyard for awhile, but that's another story! Adam is such a talented actor and a beautiful human being. We talk about his recent experience playing Byron in Night Sky, as well as his theatre background, including being mentored by Mandy Patinkin. We talk about how the cast of Longmire became a family and no spoilers, but our interview even gets interrupted by a certain mutual friend! Be sure to stick around for the hindsight, where we have another surprise guest for you— friend of the show Paul Sun-Hyung Lee is back to unbox his new action figure. It's a packed episode— you won't want to miss this one! Send me an email thesackhoffshow@gmail.com Produced by Rabbit Grin Productions Mail Sack Song by Nicolas @producer_sniffles
Happy Tuesday everyone! Today's guest is the amazing Rob Kazinsky. Rob and I have never worked together, but we've been in the same circles for years and it was such a pleasure to sit down and talk with him! You know Rob from his time as Sean Slater on EastEnders, and from playing Chuck Hansen in Pacific Rim and Orgrim in Warcraft. And now, he is fulfilling my dream and joining the Stark Trek universe. You can currently see him as Zeph in Section 31! We talk about the new movie and the controversy it's stirring up among the Star Trek faithful. We also just talk about life, including Rob's autism diagnosis and how he has weathered some challenging moments over the course of his career. I was surprised at how deep we got in such a short time, and I think you'll enjoy this conversation! Be sure to stick around for the Hindsight, where producer Jeph and I discuss the episode and open up the Mail Sack for some fan emails. Hi everyone! Today's episode was such a treat. I have known Alexandra Breckenridge since we were babies in the industry— we did a pilot together called Locust Valley almost 25 years ago. Since then, Alexandra has had an unbelievable career. She played Jessie Anderson on The Walking Dead, Sophie Larson on This Is Us and now she's doing amazing work as Melinda Monroe on Virgin River. We talk about what it takes to build resiliency as an actor and why we both ultimately decided to leave California. I gotta say, she lives on a beautiful farm in Georgia and if you don't already follow her on Instagram, you definitely should. Be sure to stick around for the Hindsight, where producer Jeph and I give an update on the fires in LA and read your pitches for how I can brand a day of the week for Bo-Katan (Fracked-Up Fridays, anyone?). My guest this week is the one and only Mark-Paul Gosselaar. That's right— it's Zack Morris from Saved By The Bell! Teenage me would be absolutely FREAKING OUT. Of course, Mark-Paul has had a long and super-impressive career since his heartthrob days and we get into all of it. From Franklin & Bash to Pitch to his current role as Hugh "Sir" Evans on NBC's Found, he really has an unbelievable range. Plus, we also talk about our shared love of motorcycles (or maybe former love?), racing and fitness. The two of us could do a whole podcast about the glories of a cold plunge and sauna, but we TRY to control ourselves. After my conversation with Mark-Paul, be sure to stick around for the Hindsight where my producer Jeph and I discuss health trends, our sleep habits and the pros and cons of splurging on a fancy mattress. Happy Tuesday everyone! If you don't know this week's guest, then I don't know what to tell you. Lou Diamond Phillips is a Hollywood Institution and I can't believe I get to call him my friend. I had such a crush on Lou in Young Guns and it still blows my mind I got to act with him all these years later on Longmire, where he played Henry Standing Bear. He's had an incredible career, from La Bamba and Stand and Deliver, to countless TV and film roles— and let me tell you, Lou's got some STORIES. We get into all of it, from the legendary dinners he cooked on the set of Longmire to his transition from bad boy to girl dad. You're not gonna want to miss this one! And as always, stick around for the hindsight, where I answer fan questions, try out a new stripper name and unveil a special surprise for one of our guests! She is one of my absolute favorite humans— she's wise, funny and a total badass! We discuss all things Star Wars, from convention life, to keeping plot secrets, to the challenges of acting in a helmet. We also have a great conversation about the role that faith plays in her acting and the way she has used her platform to help kids fighting cancer, through the organization Voices Against Cancer. Hey everyone, what a year! On this bonus Hindsight, producer Jeph and I go over some of the highlights of this year's show. From Paul Sun-Hyung Lee's quest for his own action figure to Jewel Staite on posting sexy photos as a mom, there is a LOT to talk about! Plus, we revisit the most controversial clip of the year, when Ming Na Wen and I discussed how I could possibly NOT KNOW I was in a scene with Luke Skywalker and R2-D2. Happy Holidays, everyone! On today's special, extended Hindsight episode, Jeph and I are joined by our most-requested guest... Robin! Robin has written not one but three Hallmark movies, and we got to work together on his first one: Christmas Sail. We walked Jeph through the process of how that came to be and if we'll ever do another. And it wouldn't be a Christmas episode without a debate about Die Hard (we settle it once and for all: Jeph is wrong), and we talk through some of your comments about your least-favorite Christmas traditions and what you're hoping to find under the tree— good sex, apparently! Hey everyone! I don't want to brag but I'm friends with more than one super model. My guest today is one of them. Paulina Porizkova is a gorgeous human being inside and out. She is truly one of the most inspiring, honest, authentic people I know. I was supposed to talk to her about her book No Filter a few months ago but that didn't happen…you'll find out why in the episode. But we got a chance to talk about it on this episode amongst a whole lotta other things like grief, sharing yourself on social media, and one of my favorite topics, aging as a woman. Be sure to stick around for the hindsight where producer Jeph and I talk vulnerability, cargo shorts, and more F1 than he can probably handle.
Hey everyone, today on the show is one of my heroes and inspirations, Lucy Lawless. She is, of course, Xena Warrior Princess, but I first met her as Number Three on Battlestar Galactica. We didn't get to work together a lot, so it was a joy to sit down and chat with her. Lucy just directed her first documentary, Never Look Away, the story of CNN war photographer Margaret Moth. There are a lot of lessons to learn from the documentary and Lucy has a lot of stories about getting it made and the challenges they faced. It was nice to get a chance to chat with her while she's doing press for the film. I think Lucy and I had different experiences working on Battlestar so it was enlightening to hear her perspective. Hey everyone! My guest today is actually one of my best friends, well he's actually the husband of one of my best friends but I like him just as much! Teddy Sears is that guy you've seen in everything including his new show Brilliant Minds with Zachary Quinto. We talk a little about that show, the inspiration behind it, and what it's like to work with Zachary. We also talk a lot about how Teddy got into acting so he'd have a good story to tell his grandkids and it somehow turned into a career. I'm pretty upset we have never had the chance to work together but let's hold out hope that that will change soon! Teddy is a genuinely awesome person and I'm so lucky to have him as a friend. Happy Tuesday! I am very, very excited about today's guests—mostly because my daughter is going to be their new best friend. Today, I'm talking to Barlow & Bear (aka Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear), the incredibly talented duo behind the music in the new movie, Moana 2, which comes out tomorrow, 11/27! If you have kids, are a kid, or just love Disney musicals, then you're certainly as excited as I am about Moana 2 and the opportunity to move on from singing How Far I'll Go around the house and get something new stuck in our heads! Abigail and Emily are delightful, super talented, and, most importantly, young enough to be my daughters. I couldn't be more impressed by them and their journey—from winning a Grammy for The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical to being two of just a handful of women to compose music for a Disney movie. I can't wait for you to get to know them. Remember to stick around for the Hindsight, where my producer Jeph and I talk about the episode and answer your comments and emails in the Mail Sack. This week, we're giving you all the dirt on Hallmark movies!
Hello everyone! Today I have my great friend Ian Bohen on the podcast. You probably know Ian as Ryan on Yellowstone but he was also in Teen Wolf and he played Young Hercules before some other actor took over the role. Ian and I met while riding motorcycles for amfAR and have been good friends ever since. He has an amazing perspective on life and his career that I really take a lot of lessons from. He also has an amazing house so if you're not watching video, maybe you should be? Remember to stick around for the hindsight where my producer Jeph and I discuss birthdays, the state of the industry, and why so many films and shows aren't shot in LA. Plus, we answer your emails in the Mail Sack. Send me an email thesackhoffshow@gmail.com Produced by Rabbit Grin Productions Mail Sack Song by Nicolas @producer_sniffles
Happy Tuesday! Today, I'm so excited to be talking to one of my favorite nemeses, The Flash himself, Grant Gustin. I'm just joking, I love Grant. We did play foes on TV but we're good friends in real life. And how could we not be? He was Sebastian on Glee! Grant just finished his run of Water For Elephants on Broadway in September and he and his wife welcomed their second child shortly after our conversation. Naturally, we talk a lot about being a parent, working in theater, being on a long-running TV show, and the changes of perspective he's gone through in his career. Grant is super sweet and even showed me his purse. Stick around after our convo for the Hindsight, where my producer Jeph and I break down the interview, and he tries to get me to spill secrets about The Mandalorian. Enjoy! Hey everyone, we decided to celebrate America's right to vote this week by having British and French actor Jamie Bamber on the show. But of course, you know Jamie better as Lee “Apollo” Adams from a little show called Battlestar Galactica. Jamie and I first met when we were both testing for our roles (I totally didn't forget that) and have become like family to each other. It's been a while since I had a chance to talk with him, so we got to catch up on where we're both living these days, how our families are doing, and then how Battlestar changed our lives and how lucky we got to be a part of something so special so early in both our careers. Jamie is the best and it's easy to see why Starbuck was in love with him. Stick around for the hindsight where my producer Jeph and I talk about the episode and really anything else that comes up plus we read your comments and answer your emails. Enjoy! Happy Halloween! This week, I got to sit down with the hilarious Sasheer Zamata, and we talked about everything from her stand-up comedy to starring in Agatha All Along as the witch Jennifer. You'll hear all about her journey from SNL into the Marvel Universe, her actual passion for witch history, how comedy has always been a part of her life, and how she's a late-in-life lesbian. Stick around for the hindsight, where my producer Jeph and I answer your comments and emails. Produced by Rabbit Grin Productions Mail Sack Song by Nicolas @producer_sniffles
On today's episode, I sit down with my friend Rebecca Mader, known for her unforgettable roles on Once Upon a Time and Lost. We dive into some very fun stories about how we met at a convention (spoiler alert: it involves us both dropping to the ground). We talk about the world of Comic-Cons, motherhood, and how we're pretty sure our kids love us! Rebecca also shares her experiences in Hollywood, playing the Wicked Witch of the West, being stuck in Hawaii asking herself why she was still on Lost, and how much she wants to be in a comedy. Rebecca is too fun and a riot to talk to. You don't want to miss this one. Plus, stick around for my Hindsight segment with my producer, Jeph, where we answer your questions in the Mail Sack and try to keep it under 30 minutes. Hey everyone! In this episode, I get to sit down (leg over the chair) with the lovely Jonathan Frakes, who, of course, played the legendary (and dreamy) William T. Riker on Star Trek: The Next Generation. We dive into so much—getting the role on Next Gen, his first directing job, and even his thoughts on the convention circuit and the sweaty fans. You guys, I so want to be in Star Trek and I'm hoping Jonathan can help me do that. I pitched myself pretty hard here, so fingers crossed! Stick around for the hindsight to find out how much of a Star Trek nerd my producer, Jeph, is while we answer your comments and emails in the Mail Sack. Hi everyone! In this episode, I am so excited today because I am talking to Ezra Bridger himself from Ahsoka, aka Eman Esfandi! You guys, Eman is so sweet and genuine. We dive into everything from how spirituality plays a huge role in his life, to the wild story of how Ezra quite literally found him. Eman talks about growing up with immigrant parents, pivoting from tennis dreams to acting, and how he almost quit the industry before landing in the Star Wars universe. Plus, we get into his music career as DragonWulf and how following his joy helped him manifest all the great things that have happened to him. I love this episode so much. Eman is so honest and has lived a lot of lives at only 27 years old. You're going to love it. Remember to stick around to the hindsight where my producer Jeph and I discuss the episode and try not to get me canceled. We also respond to your comments and emails in the Mail Sack! Hey, everyone! Today, I'm very excited to talk with my good friend and one of the most talented composers I've ever met, Bear McCreary! Not only was he the composer for Battlestar Galactica, but he has gone on to work on shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Black Sails, Outlander, The Walking Dead, and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. We first met when we were both little babies on Battlestar. I was surprised to find out I wasn't the only young person on the crew - Bear was the composer at only 24! Today, we're diving deep into his career, how he got interested in music, landed the Battlestar gig, and what he's working on these days. Which speaking of, Bear just released his new double album and graphic novel project, “The Singularity”. If you like heavy metal and music like Guns and Roses then you're going to love this because Slash literally plays on this album. Also, find out how Bear came up with that iconic All Along the Watchtower Battlestar remix and how he convinced me to play it with him live on stage and might again soon! Stick around for the hindsight where I force my producer to listen to me talk about carpet beetles, bed bugs, parasitic wasps, and all that fun stuff. Hey everyone, in this episode, I sit down with the amazing Bitsie Tulloch, known for her roles as Juliette Silverton in Grimm and Lois Lane in Superman & Lois. I was really excited to talk with Bitsie because I've only ever seen her at cons for short moments. It was great to talk to her about how she got into acting after going to Harvard(!) and the unexpected path that led her to iconic roles in Grimm and, of course, as Lois Lane. We also talk about how she balances family life with her daughter and husband, David Giuntoli while surviving Hollywood and staying out of the public eye, as well as our shared love of Portland. Stick around for the hindsight where I read your comments and emails to find out what word I can't spell for the life of me... In today's episode, I'm chatting with my friend Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, who you probably know from Kim's Convenience and just about every Star Wars show out there right now (The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka) as Captain Carson Teva. Paul's journey from an immigrant family to fulfilling his nerd dream of being a part of the Star Wars universe is amazing, and we dive deep into what it's like growing up in Canada, deciding to be an actor against his parent's wishes, and having to navigate Hollywood as an Asian actor. We also talk about his passion for collecting, the joy he finds in the Star Wars fandom, and why there's no Carson Teva action figure! Paul is just one of the kindest and most genuine people I've met, and I can't wait for you all to hear his story. Enjoy this fantastic conversation with one of the best, and stick around for the Hindsight where I answer your comments and emails. Send us your emails at thesackhoffshow@gmail.com. Hello everyone, today we have Bosch himself, Titus Welliver, to talk about his life, playing Bosch (of course), his role on The Mandalorian, our new show Watchmen Chapter 1, and acting in general. Honestly, I was a little nervous to talk to him because he's kind of an intimidating guy, but it turns out he's an absolute sweetheart. Tune in to meet the sweet man underneath the tattoos and find out if I can pronounce Rorschach or not. Stick around for the hindsight, where we dissect the episode and answer your comments and emails.Send us your emails at thesackhoffshow@gmail.com. Today on the show we've got my friend and former neighbor, Jon Huertas. I actually don't know how I met Jon, but he's been a good friend for many years, and I was excited to catch up with him, learn more about his work on This Is Us and Band of Brothers, and get some tips on directing from him. Enjoy! That's what's up! Produced by Rabbit Grin ProductionsMail Sack Song by Nicolas @producer_sniffles
VIDEO IS BACK!!! You asked, we listened. I talk about why in the hindsight, so do stick around for that. Before that, our first honored video guest is certified Firefly-legend Jewel Staite. Not one to miss, folks. That's what's up! Produced by Rabbit Grin ProductionsMail Sack Song by Nicolas @producer_sniffles
Rekha Sharma is one of my favorite people and a dear friend! She was Tory on Battlestar Galactica, Commander Landry on Star Trek: Discovery, Jessica on Yellowjackets, and a million other things on a million other movies and shows. We nerd out about Star Trek, I stumble my way through some questions about race and typecasting in the film industry, and we have a good time. That's what's up!
Edward James Olmos is not just an acting legend who's played in everything from Miami Vice to Mayans M.C. In my Battlestar Galactica family he's basically my dad, and I couldn't be happier to have him on the show. Edward talks about New York gang culture in the 40s and 50s, the impact and importance of Battlestar, and the story behind his epic So Say We All-speech.
You know Jay Ellis from Top Gun, Insecure and Somebody I Used To Know, but he's also one of the hardest working men in Hollywood, and now also an author! We talk about Jay's imaginary friend (which is the subject of his book), working with Tom Cruise, and the iconic football scene in Top Gun: Maverick, and how they managed to make all the actors look so... oily. That's what's up! Jordan's Mail Sack Art
My guest this week is my dear friend from The Mandalorian (and you may also know him from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or James Bond)! In classic fashion, our conversation ranges from ASMR and Mando, to Simon's past life as a DJ and gang member... That's what's up.
You know this week's guest from Shaun of the Dead, Mission Impossible, Star Trek, and much much more. I can't understate how immensely cool Simon Pegg is, so I'll simply say that he is a very rare member of the sci-fi trifecta club (Star Wars, Star Trek and Dr. Who), which we discuss in this episode, and a fact of which I am equally impressed by and envious of. As always, stick around for the hindsight, and that's what's up!
Guys, it's Ahsoka herself – actor Ashley Eckstein, AKA The voice of Ahsoka Tano on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Rebels, and Forces of Destiny, and much more. We talk about her beautiful perspective on connecting with fans at conventions, the Force, and female fans Star Wars being bullied. As always, stick around for the hindsight, where I get asked about a Tarantino role that never came to be, that I'm still a little salty about. That's what's up!
You know this week's guest from Battlestar Galactica, How I Met Your Mother, or his insanely good performance on The Fall of the House of Usher, but to me, he is first and foremost my beloved work-husband ... it's Michael Trucco! We discuss Michael growing up the son of a police officer, a near-fatal car crash that altered his perspective on life, our time together on BSG and much more. As always, stick around for the hindsight where we read some crazy animal facts.
My guest this week is arguably the most influential person in horror at this moment in time!! Mike Flanagan is the man behind Hill House, Fall of Usher, Oculus (where I had the pleasure of working with him), Doctor Sleep and much more. If you're at all interested in the movie and television industry or the horror genre, this is not one to miss. And of course, I answer your lovely questions in the hindsight section.
You asked, and here he is. Robert Taylor is not only my co-star from Longmire, but a dear friend and one of my favorite people to talk with. We discuss the prospects of bringing Longmire back to TV screens, the pros and cons of intimacy coordinators, whether it's OK to compliment someone's (my) ass, how he stumbled his way into an amazing acting career, and much more. Stick around to the end for the hindsight where I answer your questions. That's what's up!
Hey you guys! Today i bring another pal from the Mandalorian-universe: Tait Fletcher, who you'll probably also recognize from Breaking Bad, John Wick or the new Jumanji. We talk about the on-set head injury that turned his life upside down, and a bunch more. As always, stick around for the hindsight where I talk about much sillier things and answer your emails.
I was super excited to talk to today's guest, and she did not disappoint. You know her from The Mandalorian (where she played Elia Kane), or maybe from Ant-Man and the Wasp or her new film Love Lies Bleeding. It's Katy O'Brian, and that's what's up!
