John MacKenzie chats with Glen Jacobs, Director of World Trail and Crankworx Cairns Track Manager, about the Crankworx cycling event that hits Cairns this week. Over 4,000 tickets have been sold to the internationally watched event due to begin Thursday 6th October 2022, as the world's best mountain bike riders and amateurs alike travel to Smithfield for the rainforest course. Glen Jacobs is the local legend and mastermind behind the Wangetti Trail.

Darren Kinnaird is the Managing Director at Crankworx and Board Director at Freeride Mountain Bike Association. Darren moved to Whistler in 1999 with a passion for skiing. In 2005 he ended up volunteering for Crankworx. Darren later took over sponsorship for Crankworx and the Whistler Mountain Bike Park. In 2010 he was asked to become the General Manager. It was his dream job and he has remained in the role for over a decade. Events around the world have been struggling to operate with the restrictions.
