If you were making a film and one of your characters was a petulant manbaby who was obsessed with rules, spent half of the film in a costume store pretending to be Gandalf and could only become aroused by enforcing the rules of the local homeowners' association, you'd imagine that character would be the villain, right?Well, welcome to the Hallmark Channel's Haul Out the Halloween, where not only is this character, Jared, not the villain, he is also the romantic lead and deuteragonist, alongside his wife Emily. Emily and Jared live on Evergreen Lane, known as the most festive street in America, on account of how they go all in on Christmas decorations every year. But while they love Christmas, Halloween is banned because Emily got scared by a scarecrow once 25 years ago, and then her grandma died of unrelated causes several weeks later. But with the arrival of new spooky neighbours, played by Marnie and Kalabar Jr. from Halloweentown, the residents of Evergreen Lane decide that it might be ok to put up some plastic pumpkins this year, and still manage to turn it into a stressful ordeal because these people can't do anything right. Aaron Alexander & John Humphrey react to The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), the iconic stop-motion musical fantasy directed by Henry Selick (Coraline, James and the Giant Peach) and based on the original story and characters created by Tim Burton (Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice). Produced by Danny Elfman and Caroline Thompson, this beloved cult classic bridges the worlds of Halloween and Christmas in one unforgettable tale. The film follows Jack Skellington (voiced by Chris Sarandon – Fright Night, The Princess Bride, with singing voice by Danny Elfman – Oingo Boingo, The Simpsons) as the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town who grows bored with his spooky routine and stumbles upon the magic of Christmas Town. His attempt to take over Santa's holiday leads to chaos, self-discovery, and some of the most imaginative animation ever created. The cast also features Catherine O'Hara (Home Alone, Schitt's Creek) as Sally, the ragdoll with a heart of gold; William Hickey (Prizzi's Honor, The Jerky Boys) as Dr. Finkelstein; Glenn Shadix (Beetlejuice, Demolition Man) as Mayor of Halloween Town; and Ken Page (Dreamgirls, Cats) as the jazzy villain Oogie Boogie. Iconic and highly searched moments include Jack's haunting “What's This?” sequence, the kidnapping of Santa Claus, Oogie Boogie's musical showdown, and Sally's bittersweet “Sally's Song.” With its handcrafted stop-motion visuals, Elfman's timeless music, and a perfect blend of eerie and heartfelt, The Nightmare Before Christmas remains one of the most enduring animated films ever made — a masterpiece that captures both the spirit of Halloween and the joy of Christmas. On this week's exciting episode, the guys delve into a captivating discussion centered around the beloved Halloween classics, Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown. They explore the unique themes, characters, and cultural impact of both films, highlighting how each has carved out a special place in the hearts of audiences over the years. The conversation takes a nostalgic turn as Cody shares with Joe the recent addition of Something Wicked This Way Comes to Disney+, a film that many remember as a chilling yet fascinating tale from their childhood. He reflects on the stark contrast between the scariness of children's movies from their youth and the more sanitized versions available today, sparking a debate about how the portrayal of fear and adventure has evolved in family-friendly cinema. Cody also recounts an exciting personal experience, revealing how he and his partner Paige recently won a massive 12-foot-tall skeleton in a local contest. This impressive decoration not only fulfills one of Paige's long-held dreams but also adds a thrilling touch to their Halloween festivities. The guys discuss the joy of decorating for the season and the fun that comes with embracing the spooky spirit of Halloween, sharing tips and ideas for creating the perfect atmosphere. In another segment, Joe shares his recent culinary adventure with his family during a trip to Wickenburg, where they visited Capital Farms Meats & Provisions. He describes the delightful experience of exploring the local food scene, sampling various gourmet meats, and discovering unique provisions that reflect the region's rich culinary heritage. The conversation flows as they discuss the importance of family bonding over food and how such adventures can create lasting memories. Finally, Cody brings up some intriguing news regarding the prolific author Stephen King, revealing that he is currently working on two new novels. He discusses the significance of this announcement, especially in light of King's decision to take a break afterward to spend quality time with his family while he is still in good health. This leads to a thoughtful conversation about the balance between creative pursuits and personal life, as well as the impact of King's work on the horror genre and literature as a whole. The episode wraps up with reflections on the importance of storytelling, both in film and literature, and how these narratives shape our understanding of fear, adventure, and personal connections.Official Website: https://www.comesnaturallypodcast.comOfficial Merchandise: https://shop.spreadshirt.com/comes-naturally-podcast/iTunes: http://tinyurl.com/kqkgackFacebook: http://tinyurl.com/myovgm8Tumblr: http://tinyurl.com/m7a6mg9Twitter: @ComesNaturalPodYouTube: http://tiny.cc/5snxpy

What could be more Sinister than Ethan Hawke and James Ransone teaming up for another epic horror film with Scott Derrickson at the helm? Possibly its second installment, releasing October 17th, but we'll find out in a few days!TODAY, we're covering The Black Phone (2021) to keep that hype train rollin' for part 2 coming out this Friday! We had a blast diving into this beautiful nightmare of a horror movie that's caught somewhere between True Crime and Fever Dream. What inspiration did Derrickson draw on based on his own childhood, real life serial killers, and the Joe Hill short story this was adapted from? How many iterations does the iconic Grabber mask designed by the legendary Tom Savini have, and what do they mean when the sadistic child killer repeatedly gives himself a face lift? Why are these detectives so bad at their job that they have to rely on the apparent clairvoyance of a local voodoo child?Find out all this and more by clicking on that little sideways triangle :-)Don't forget to like and subscribe to stay up to date on all the spooky happenings in The Cinebytes little corner of Halloweentown! Send us a textToday we're bringing you a deep dive follow up to a very exciting and mostly spoiler free author interview episode with Hazel Mack all about the monster romcom series that stole our hearts: Haven Ever After! We'll be discussing all NINE books that complete this lighthearted happily ever after series including eight full length books, and one short novella. This series has every type of monster - gargoyles to vampires, witches to werewolves, and everyone in between… and they are ALL falling in love. Single dad, sports romance, enemies to lovers, fated mates, second chance romance, and he falls first are just some of the tropes we love. And don't worry… every book is at least a 3-4 on the spice scale, despite the Gilmore Girls vibes.
