Different spirit I. Cain II. Potiphar's wife III. Nabal IV. James & John V. Paul & Silas
This message highlights the unwavering faith and bold spirit of Caleb, who stood out among his peers because he followed God wholeheartedly. While others doubted and disobeyed, Caleb's “different spirit” positioned him to inherit the promise God made—even after 45 years of waiting in the wilderness. His name, meaning “dog,” symbolizes loyalty, grit, and courage to lead without backing down. Caleb didn't let age or fear stop him; instead, he declared strength in his old age and boldly claimed what God had promised, ready to drive out giants and take the land. The call is clear: lead with conviction, stay faithful, don't settle in the desert—and never retire from pursuing what God has promised.
A Different Spirit By Archie Gilmer
But truly, as I live, and as all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord, none of the men who have seen my glory and my signs that I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and yet have put me to the test these ten times and have not obeyed my voice, shall see the land that I swore to give to their fathers. And none of those who despised me shall see it. But my servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit and has followed me fully, I will bring into the land into which he went, and his descendants shall possess it. – Numbers 14:21-24 (ESV).A brief detour from our sermon series on 1 Corinthians. Pastor Chris shares a message for our Vision Weekend based on Numbers 13-14 and Romans 8:31-39.
Madlik Podcast – Torah Thoughts on Judaism From a Post-Orthodox Jew
The Surprising Link Between Biblical Spies and Modern Warfare The Torah doesn't celebrate team players. It celebrates disruptors. This week on Madlik, we explore the story of Caleb, a biblical figure who defied groupthink with fierce truth. In our latest episode, we dive into the fascinating tale of the biblical scouts and focus on Caleb Ben Yefuneh, who possessed a "ruach acheret" - a different spirit. We unpack what this spirit means and why being a holy troublemaker might be exactly what God wants. In light of Israel's recent surprise attack on Iran, we explore what it means to not just read reality, but to shape it. We unpack how Caleb found his unique spirit and why being a holy troublemaker might be exactly what God wants. This episode offers profound insights into leadership, faith, and the courage to stand alone. It's a must-listen for anyone interested in biblical wisdom and possibly an insight into a culture of disruptive thinking. Key Takeaways The Power of Perspective: We explore how Caleb's unique viewpoint allowed him to see possibilities where others saw obstacles. The Importance of Adaptability: We discuss how Caleb's ability to evolve his thinking set him apart from his peers. Join us for a message from Pastor Peter Haas, from Substance Church in Minneapolis, MN. In the Old Testament, God allowed Caleb to participate in a good number of miracles because he had a "different spirit." After doing a Bible study on this leader, we will consider the question: How can we acquire this same spirit of faith? And if we learn this lesson, we will never use the expression: "It's too late…" Thanks for checking out this message today! At Venue, one of our core values is to create community. In this final episode of Season 3, we take a look at why fear and faith are each a choice. We get to decide which spirit we're going to partner with. One leads to blessing and peace while the other leads to anxiety and prolonged suffering. A quick dive into some Bible passages show us that God takes note of our attitudes and which decision we make has a long-lasting impact on not only our own life but generations after us. Caleb was bold in faith, unwavering in conviction, and wholly devoted to following God's call.
Today's message from Pastor Kelli Ferguson reminds us that God is looking for people with a different spirit—those who choose faith when the crowd chooses fear, who follow Him wholeheartedly, and who walk with courage, gratitude, and unwavering trust. Caleb was one of those people, and through his story, we learn what it looks like to live with wholehearted devotion and uncompromising faith.

This week we chat the Holy Spirit, and what it means to have part of the living God inside of us. Phil shares a little bit more about his past and how that intersects with Restorative Justice, and how the Spirit gives us the power and perspective to get through the day. Text Us: (650)600-0402+
This sermon, based on Romans 8:9-11, explores the transformative power of the Holy Spirit in believers' lives. It emphasizes that the presence of the Holy Spirit distinguishes Christians, giving them a new identity in Christ. Despite our mortal bodies being subject to death due to sin, the Spirit imparts life and righteousness, offering hope and renewal. Furthermore, the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us, promising to give life to our mortal bodies. This message reassures believers of both a future hope and a present assurance of God's life-giving presence.

The weekly podcast of Journey Church, by Pastor Liz Vasquez.
Pastor Chas Stevenson
Pastor Sergio talks to us about how we have to have a strong spirit in order to get through all the adversities in our lives so we can serve God boldly how he tells us to. We have to feed our spirit everyday with prayer and with His Word in order for it to grow. We can't be concerned with how we feel we look to the world, we have to praise God every day, no matter if it looks foolish. God has chosen foolish things to overcome the world to change our lives. We can't praise God if we're prideful. Praise is: allowing our flesh to die and give God glory! It's our responsibility to build up our spirits. A strong spirit gives us the ability to hear from God!

Pastor Sergio tells us about the requirements to have a generous spirit. It doesn't take a lot to be generous, but we have to listen to God and how He tells us to utilize what He blesses us with. People of a different spirit are willing to do what God asks them to do. God loves to bless us when we are faithful and obedient. What kind of Father would God be if He didn't bless us when we are? Believe in God, have faith, then act when He blesses us and gives us wisdom!

Pastor Sergio continues this series talking to us about why we can't just be 'good Christians' or make Jesus our blue genie like in Aladdin. We cannot be feeble in our prayer life with God! Truth demands a response and that response is an amen. We have to learn we are sons and daughters of God. Life in this fallen world is difficult and most Christians aren't prepared for everything that happens in this world. We have to be prepared with the Word of God! It's time we start focusing more on our spirit, because life is coming for us. We can't be judgmental in our postures when we'r in prayer with Him or in church, we have to submit to Him because it's His time. His spirit always carries us to a greater blessing!
