“The current state of the art AI technology is prone to some errors… you have to learn to use these tools for what they are good at, and not blindly trust everything they say.”Faisal Islam speaks to Sundar Pichai, chief executive of Google and its holding company Alphabet, about artificial intelligence and its impact on how we live and work. He tells me that we are at an extraordinary moment in technology, with the potential for enormous benefits but also risks. AI should not be blindly trusted, he says, as it is still prone to errors. And it will disrupt society through its impact on jobs, but also on the climate, thanks to its “immense” energy needs. Trillions are being invested in artificial intelligence, raising fears it could create a bubble reminiscent of the dotcom boom in the 1990s. If it were to burst, Sundar Pichai warns no company, not even his, would be immune. Thank you to Faisal Islam and Priya Patel for their help in making this programme. This episode is brought to you by Villa Carina Apartments in beautiful Bonaire. In this episode, we sit down with Sascha Lange, the 41-year-old German windsurf coach, personal trainer, and author of the brand-new wind bible called "Never Not Windsurfing – Defeat Age & Keep the Stoke Alive". Fresh off a one-year writing marathon (and still hand-packing and shipping every single copy himself), Sascha joins us to talk about why he poured his soul into the ultimate fitness and longevity guide for windsurfers over 40 – and why even the youngest PWA pros are already using it.From his beginnings as a passionate windsurfer in 1997 to becoming one of the most sought-after coaches in the sport, Sascha explains how analyzing YouTube clips of his clients at midnight led to hyper-specific training programs that fix exactly what's holding riders back on the water. With contributions from over 50 of the biggest names in windsurfing – Björn Dunkerbeck, Sarah-Quita Offringa, Marcilio Browne, Ricardo Campello, Victor Fernandez, Gollito Estredo, and an epic foreword from Captain Paul Watson, plus extra-long contribution from the godfather himself, Balz Müller – this isn't just another fitness book. Why “Never Not Windsurfing”? Turning 40 sparked the idea: Sascha is fitter now than ever and wanted to prove age is just a number if you train smart.Book Structure & Philosophy: From decade-specific body changes to mobility, functional strength, balance & coordination, breathing techniques, biohacking (sleep, sunlight, cold plunging), and a full chapter on designing your own success plan – pick what you need, when you need it.Who It's For: Primarily the 40+ crew (weekend warriors, parents, people with real jobs and no trade winds), but young pros are already stealing the advanced stability, endurance, and mental-game tools. Works for wing foiling too.Real-Life Impact: How 10–15 minute targeted sessions beat three-hour gym marathons, why your core is the “transmission” between sail and board, and how small consistent wins stop you starting every season from scratch.Cold Plunging, Breathing & Biohacking: Sascha's daily reset rituals, why nasal breathing through an ice bath is the new meditation, and how to use cold exposure without freaking out.The Captain Paul Watson Foundation: €1 from every book goes straight to ocean protection – plus Paul Watson himself wrote the foreword because the oceans are our playground and the animals' living room.Behind-the-Scenes Madness: Self-publishing both English and German editions, hand-writing dedications, midnight post-office runs, and why the book is stitched (not just glued) so it literally lasts forever. What's Next: Online “Fit for Surfing” programs, windsurf retreats (Vancouver Island anyone?), and maybe… a wing-foiling version one day.Whether you're chasing your first solid gybe, still ripping at 60, or a pro looking for that extra edge, *Never Not Windsurfing* is built to keep you on the water longer, stronger, and stoked for life. Mike Johnson, Beau Morgan, and Ali Mac continue to react to the news that the Atlanta Falcons are placing quarterback Michael Penix Jr. on injured reserve, that Penix Jr. will possibly miss the rest of the season, and Falcons wide receiver Drake London will be out this week and possibly longer with a PCL sprain in his knee, and explain why they think it's not fair to call Michael Penix Jr. injury prone after his latest knee injury on Sunday.

This episode is brought to you by Villa Carina Apartments in beautiful Bonaire. In this episode, we sit down with Björn Dunkerbeck, the 56-year-old windsurfing legend with 42 PWA World Titles (more than any athlete in any sport), 32+ years with Red Bull, and a personal best of 103.68 km/h over 500 m. Fresh off double-hip surgery and pain-free for the first time in years, Björn joins Luc from Lüderitz, Namibia, where he's chasing the outright windsurf speed world record during the month-long November window at the infamous Lüderitz Speed Channel. From the early days of 16-knot records in Weymouth to breaking 50 knots in a hand-dug Namibian trench, Björn walks us through the 50-year evolution of speed sailing, the physics of wind angle, water flatness, and why 8–10 m wide is now “as good as it gets” for a channel you can't fall out of at 100 km/h.Channel Evolution & Record Progression: How speed sailing jumped from 30 knots in the South of France to 40 in Saint-Marie-la-Mer, 45 by Thierry Bielak, then exploded in Walvis Bay and finally Lüderitz—where a kitesurfer named Sebastien Cattelan dug the first trench, and six riders broke 50 knots in one week (2012–13).Lüderitz 2025 Setup: Björn's first sessions in “perfect south-easter” conditions, why 45–50 knots of wind is the sweet spot before chop kills speed, and how a scratched fin or lack of starting-area depth can end your run before it begins.Post-Surgery Comeback: At 115 kg and 56 years young, how titanium hips have restored confidence, why Severne sails (5.2–5.7 m²), 40 cm Starboard speed boards, and custom fins are dialed, and the mental edge of knowing “I can still do this.”Gear & Technique for 100 km/h: Why boards are only 227 cm long / 35–45 L, how you rail the upwind third of the channel, and the art of body-position micro-adjustments to keep a 40 cm board from catapulting in full-power 5.2 conditions.Wipeouts & Safety: “Your day is over after a big one.” Helmet + impact vest = minimum; grit + not crashing = the real safety plan.Getting Into Speed Sailing: Download the WaterSpeed app (free), track your 100 m / 250 m / 500 m times anywhere, then upload to GPS-SpeedSurfing.com and join the Dunkerbeck Speed Challenge (50+ countries, 10th year running). Start on whatever gear you have—25 knots becomes 30, then 40…Family Legacy: Four kids, two girls, two boys. Son Liam (17)—triple U21 wave world champ, former U18 Lüderitz record holder (80+ km/h)—currently training on Maui. Youngest Daniel (13 next week) already ripping waves and speed. How Björn transitioned from pro dominance to proud dad without losing the fire.Bonaire & Dunkerbeck Pro Center: 10 years strong at Sorobon's turquoise lagoon—Defi Wind Bonaire returns June 16–21, 2026 (111 spots only). From 5-year-olds in harnesses to 90-year-olds still planing, it's the world's safest speed playground.Foiling vs Fin: Björn's light-wind foil arsenal (6.0–10.0 m² + Phantom 960/1950/910 wings) as low-wind speed training, why foils won't touch Lüderitz (not enough depth, too much drag), and whether sub-40 cm masts could ever push foils past 100 km/h.The Limit? Björn's take: 100 km/h average on 500 m is very possible; top speed >103.68 km/h likely. Beyond 105 km/h, cavitation theories split the experts—we'll know when we get there.Red Bull Family: 32 years, 800+ athletes, from windsurfing's early days to F1 and America's Cup. Neither of us is a doctor, and you shouldn't take anecdotal evidence as proof of anything. I asked Perplexity.ai about the issue, and it said:There is evidence linking veganism and osteoporosis, though the relationship is nuanced and influenced by diet quality and nutritional adequacy.* Increased Risk with Poorly Planned Diets: Multiple extensive studies and systematic reviews have found that vegans—especially those consuming diets low in calcium, vitamin D, vitamin B12, protein, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids—tend to have lower bone mineral density (BMD) and an increased risk of both osteoporosis and bone fractures compared to omnivores. This elevated risk has been observed in major cohort studies, such as the EPIC-Oxford study, which reported a significantly higher risk of fractures among vegans even after adjusting for body mass index and lifestyle factors.* Nutritional Deficiencies Matter: The increased risk is primarily attributed to common deficits in key nutrients critical for bone health, such as calcium, vitamin D, and B12, which are less prevalent in plant-based foods unless supplemented or fortified. Protein intake is also sometimes lower in vegan regimens, which can further impact bone strength.* Well-Planned Vegan Diets & Positive Outcomes: Recent research shows that a “well-planned” vegan diet—emphasizing adequate intake of calcium, vitamin D, B12, protein, and other bone-related nutrients (often through fortified foods or supplements)—does not significantly increase the risk of osteoporosis compared to omnivorous diets. Some studies have found that a healthful, plant-based diet may even reduce the risk of osteoporosis due to increased intakes of bone-protective nutrients like vitamin K, magnesium, and antioxidants, as well as because such diets tend to produce a lower acid load, which may reduce bone resorption.* Physical Activity Modifies the Risk: There is also evidence that resistance exercise (such as weightlifting or strength training) can improve bone strength in vegans, potentially offsetting some of the increased risk associated with plant-based diets.* Summary Table: Veganism and Osteoporosis RiskType of DietBone Health Risk FactorsOsteoporosis/Fracture Risk* Unbalanced vegan* Low calcium, D, B12, protein, zinc, omega-3s* Increased fracture/osteoporosis risk* Well-planned vegan* Supplemented/fortified nutrients, diverse plant foods* Similar risk as a balanced omnivorous diet or slightly reduced risk* Omnivorous* Generally, a higher intake of bone-critical nutrients* Standard baseline riskKey takeaways:* Vegans who do not carefully plan their diet are at higher risk of osteoporosis and fractures.* With mindful planning and supplementation, a vegan diet can support good bone health.* Ensuring sufficient calcium, vitamin D, B12, protein, and engaging in regular weight-bearing exercise are crucial for vegans to minimize their risk of osteoporosis.Sponsors1. Thanksgiving and Christmas are the topic of discussion on The Christmas Show of My Merry Christmas. In this segment we explore the Thanksgiving anthem that has become a favored song of Thanksgiving, Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, which we feature in this episode. The great and beautiful rendition we share comes from Broken Bow Music. Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing is a 300-year old song, familiar in the ancient Christian world. The hymn has an amazing backstory that we tell in this episode. Here are the lyrics to this song of Thanksgiving; 1Come, Thou Fount of ev'ry blessing; Tune my heart to sing Thy grace. Streams of mercy, never ceasing, Call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, Sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount; I'm fixed upon it: Mount of Thy redeeming love. Here I raise my Ebenezer; Hither by Thy help I'm come. And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, Safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, Wand'ring from the fold of God; He, to rescue me from danger, Interposed His precious blood. Oh, to grace how great a debtor Daily I'm constrained to be! Let Thy goodness, like a fetter, Bind my wand'ring heart to Thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, Prone to leave the God I love. Here's my heart, O take and seal it; Seal it for Thy courts above.
The Myth of Constant Availability: Why Being "Always On" is Burning You OutIn this powerful fourth installment of the "Suck It Up, Go It Alone" series, Work-Life Harmony Strategist SaCola Lehr dives deep into a subtle, yet deeply damaging habit: persistent availability. We live in a world of endless pings, emails, Slack messages, group texts, and notifications that never stop. This episode unpacks the profound cost of feeling like you always have to be "on" for everyone else, and how this belief is silently draining your emotional battery and sabotaging your peace. What You'll Uncover in This Episode:1. The Hidden Roots of Hyper-ResponsivenessMore Than Modern Tech: While technology amplifies the problem, Sokola reveals that the need for constant availability is often deeply rooted in childhood. For many, being needed became an identity, a survival strategy learned early on to earn love, keep the peace, or prove value. The Identity Trap: The dangerous belief that we internalize: "If I'm not available, I'm not valuable." Your worth is not tied to how quickly you respond or how many fires you put out.2. The Drain: Burnout Disguised as DedicationThe Nervous System Never Rests: Constant responsiveness keeps your nervous system in a perpetual state of "alert mode." This chips away at your peace of mind, leading to chronic irritability, fatigue, and even resentment toward the very people you care about.Addiction to Chaos: Being constantly "on" is often burnout disguised as dedication. We split our energy between too many things trying to prove dependability at work and being the emotional glue at home leading to emotional exhaustion and hypervigilance. The Trauma Response: For some, this "always on" state is a trauma response carried into adulthood, a hyper-awareness learned in homes where love or peace had to be earned.3. Four Brave Actions to Reclaim Your Energy and PeaceThe good news? You can unlearn this habit and reclaim your time, energy, and peace without losing your impact. SaCola provides four practical, brave actions to start implementing today:1. Set a Tech BoundaryTurn off all notifications outside of work hours. Create "no phone zones" during dinner, family time, or personal rest.To give your brain and nervous system a much-needed break from constant pings and demands.2. Communicate Your AvailabilityClearly state your response times. Example: "I check emails three times a day," or "My cut-off time is 6:30 p.m. for family time."People will respect your boundaries when they are clearly communicated and consistently enforced.3. Create Micro-Breaks to ResetImplement 5-minute deep breathing or stretching breaks, or a 30-minute "just sit, just be" ritual after work. These small, intentional pauses calm your nervous system and restore focus, preventing the buildup of stress.4. Remind Yourself of the TruthInternalize the truth: You are allowed to rest, and you are allowed to be unavailable. The world will keep spinning. Your value is inherent, not conditional on your responsiveness. The Takeaway: Persistent availability is a silent burnout trap. By taking these brave actions, you can stop trading survival mode for strategies that help you truly thrive in your career, life, and everything in between. If today's conversation hit home, don't just stop here. I created a free PRONE to Power Worksheet that will help you put these strategies into action. In week four of Worship is War, Pastor Joby unpacks the story behind “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” and the confession that still speaks to every believer: “Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it.” Through Romans 7, we're reminded that even when our hearts drift, God's grace pursues us. Worship realigns our spirit to the truth that Jesus has already won the war—and invites us to come home to the One who never stops seeking us.

There could be fresh hope for the future of the iconic Chateau Tongariro, following a major Government shake-up of earthquake-prone building rules. Ruapehu District mayor Weston Kirton spoke to Corin Dann.
Today on Politics Wednesday, Mark Mitchell and Ginny Andersen are calling in from airports in Italy and Auckland to delve into the biggest topics of the week so far. Local body elections are looming – how can we raise the involvement rate? Plus, a raft of changes to both the earthquake-prone building system and the energy sector were announced in the last two days. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Yesterday, Building and Construction Minister Chris Penk announced changes to the earthquake-prone building regulations that will remove nearly 3000 buildings from the classification register. Previously, buildings would have to meet a 34%NBS (new building standard) threshold to predict likelihoods of withstanding seismic action. The new system instead prioritises identifying structures that pose a higher risk to human life. Alterations seek to measure risk in a manner that balances safety with more affordable and realistic remediation action for existing properties. Producer Jasmine Gray spoke to Dr. Megan Boston, Senior Lecturer for Civil Engineering, at the University of Waikato about what the new quake-prone building regulations mean for Aotearoa's community safety and heritage.
The Building and Construction Minister says new earthquake building rules are more nuanced. Changes to the rules will remove Auckland, Northland, and the Chatham Islands from the regime. Coastal Otago, including Dunedin, will be classified as a medium seismic hazard area, and will remain within the earthquake-prone building system Building Minister Chris Penk says the rules are ultimately designed to protect life. He told Mike Hosking under the current system some owners were unable to afford the upgrades. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
A shake-up to the quake-prone building standards could be a reprieve for iconic properties facing large retrofit bills. The Government's loosening the regime to only capture buildings genuinely posing a risk to life in medium and high seismic risk zones. It'll mean only 80 will need full retrofits and 15,000 will still need some remediation. Building and Construction Minister Chris Penk says there'll be a lot of places now off the hook for having expensive work. "A large number of buildings that will remain caught by the system to some extent, but will only need a targeted retro-fit, or maybe just a securing of a façade." California is weighing a new wildfire safety rule that could reshape home landscaping across the state. Governor Gavin Newsom's administration has proposed a “Zone Zero” regulation that would ban plants, mulch, and combustible materials within 5 feet of homes in designated fire hazard zones.

Perfectionism in adolescence can be a heavy, even isolating, burden—shaped by social media, identity pressures, and the overwhelming number of choices youth face. Amid these challenges the Doctrine and Covenants offers a powerful reminder: “Remember that the worth of souls is great in the sight of God” (18:10). This eternal truth stands out in contrast to the feeling standards of the world. In this episode Professor Justin Dyer explains how such expectations contribute to rising perfectionism among our youth. Drawing from BYU's Foundations data, he offers advice on how parents, teachers, and leaders can help youth navigate these pressures and find peace in eternal truths. By helping young people anchor their self-worth in truth, we can guide them away from toxic perfectionism and toward a life of purpose, peace, and resilience. As most of you know, we have been studying the doctrine of the Love of God over the summer months. Last Sunday, we studied Jesus' exhortation to “abide” His love. This week we are going to study Jude's exhortation in Jude 17-25, “Keep yourselves in the love of God.” You might think it sounds strange, but the reality is that it is a real battle to keep ourselves living in, learning about, and growing in the love of God. In the classic hymn, Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, author Robert Robinson describes what so many of us feel in our hearts: “Prone to wander Lord I feel it, prone to leave the God I love.” Jude would tweak that and say, “Prone to leave the God who loves me.” Come this Sunday morning, as we consider how to collectively keep ourselves in the love of God. We need to fight the battle together. We have Teen Challenge with us, and it is going to be a great time of seeing the power of Christ in the lives of His people. Super looking forward to it. There is a lunch after the second service. Next Steps at Waterbrooke ---> Click HERE
