Grab your vecuronium and prepare to get bottomless because week two of the Summer of Camp is tackling Doug Aarniokoski's Nurse 3D (2013). This is just...what is this? It's Paz de la Huerta acting in a completely different film than the stacked cast around her. It's lawsuits and delays. It's fetish costuming, shitty 3D post-conversion and the wildest voice-over you've ever heard.Trace offers a recap lesson while Joe questions the poorly incorporated rape plot (C/W) while drawing a surprising number of comparisons to our Showgirls episode. But is it camp? We're still not sure what this film is; all we know is that we love our fucking jobs.References: 1) Marissa T. “It's Good Because It's Awful” YouTube2) Tatiana Prorokova. “Eroticizing the Nurse: (Bi/Homo)Sexuality and Monstrosity in Nurse 3D.” The Nurse in Popular Media: Critical EssaysQuestions? We are finally back to covering episodes of Star Trek: Picard, and on this episode of The Star Trek Picard Cast, Ruthie and I talk through Star Trek: Picard, Season 2 Episode 2, titled Penance. This episode's teleplay is by Akiva Goldsman & Terry Matalas and Christopher Monfette (in other words, Akiva and Terry wrote as a team, and handed it off to Christopher who finished it), based on a story by Michael Chabon and Akiva Goldsman & Terry Matalas and Christopher Monfette, and it was directed by Doug Aarniokoski. Picard and the gang end up in a very dark alternate 2400, thanks to Picard's old nemesis Q.

Star Trek: Discovery – Season 3 Episode 6 – Scavengers We’re back!!! Ruthie and Brian talk through Star Trek: Discovery, Season 3 Episode 6, titled Scavengers. This episode’s teleplay was by Anne Cofell Saunders, and it was directed by Doug Aarniokoski. SPOILERS AHEAD!!! If you haven’t seen this episode of Star Trek: Discovery, stop right now!!! Go watch it, then come back!!! We’ll be here for you! NCC-1031-A? I don’t get it. They replaced almost every piece of the Enterprise NCC-1701, but it didn’t get the A. That was called a refit. This is called a retrofit. Why does it get the A? The All-in-One Communicator/Transporter/PADD/Tricorders… we don’t like them! Let me specifically say why I don’t like them. We can’t see enough detail in them to see how many pips there are, and the color changes are varied enough to be seen very well. Burnham and Saru… We both had issues with Burnham and Saru in this episode. It leaked into practically every section of this podcast. Specifically, we don’t like the direction they are taking her character. We also think that Saru could have stopped it from happening before it started! Messy Chapters this week… You will notice, if you’re the type of listener that uses our chapters, they’re a bit sloppy this week. Ruthie and I delved into Burnham and Saru’s actions in this episode during our Yeses, and they are clearly Nos. Rather than try to edit them to all be together with the rest of the Nos, it felt more authentic to leave them as they were.

Dead Like Me. Star Trek: Discovery is not the first show which Bryan Fuller departed shortly after its creation. Fuller also left his very first series, Dead Like Me, after only a handful of episodes. And yet, it could be argued that Dead Like Me maintained the essence of Fuller's vision long after he was gone. In this episode of Stage Nine, Mike is joined by Sarah of The Talk Film Society to look at Dead Like Me. We discuss what makes it inherently Fuller, what place it has inside the larger Fuller canon, and what that might indicate about Fuller's lasting impact on Discovery. In news, we take a look at a couple new Discovery directors, Jonathan Frakes and, presumably, Doug Aarniokoski. Returning to the wild world of Netflix, Patrick Walsh and Joe DeRosa return this week to draw some blood from Doug Aarniokoski campy creepshow, NURSE 3D. Throughout their wicked commentary, Pat and Joe talk about Paz de la Huerta's persistent nudity, the film's eclectic cast and the dangers of implementing in-your-face 3D CGI. Yet the show wouldn't be an episode of WE'LL SEE YOU IN HELL without Pat and Joe being derailed throughout, including a surprisingly passionate discussion on the nature of celebrity controversy.
