Paramount TV -- which produces Reacher and the Time Bandits reboot, among other things -- suddenly shut down, with employees being given very little notice. Paramount is reducing its overall workforce by 15% to get ready for the Skydance merger, and it's going to be a bloodbath. With Paramount and Warner Bros. both hanging on by their fingertips, Hollywood is going to look VERY different on the other side of this. In the second of four special episodes recorded live on August 1 at the American Society of Cinematographers Clubhouse in Los Angeles, Jeannine Oppewall — a four-time Oscar nominee for art direction on films including L.A. Confidential and The Good Shepherd — sits down with two of this year's Emmy contenders in production design: Glenda Rovello is nominated for her work on Frasier, from Paramount+ and CBS Studios, and Gianna Costa got the nod for the MTV reality series RuPaul's Drag Race. Costa describes the “seat-of-your-pants thinking” that powers a fast-moving competition show, and Rovello recalls how the innovative set design of the original Frasier informed her decisions on the reboot. They also share how playing with color and making room for movement help set the stage for great TV storytelling.

The phenomenal screenwriter and novelist, Joey Hartstone, had his first two feature films directed by no less than Rob Reiner. The first film, LBJ, which was named to Hollywood's highly respected Black List in 2014, starred Woody Harrelson as LBJ.  Joey's second feature, “Shock and Awe,” featured Woody Harrelson, James Marsden, Tommy Lee Jones, Jessica Biel, and Milla Jovovich. He was a member of the writing staff for the first two seasons of “The Good Fight.”  He is currently the showrunner and an executive producer of Showtime's “Your Honor,” starring a favorite StoryBeat guest, Bryan Cranston. Joey's debut novel, “The Local,” a legal thriller about an East Texas patent attorney's first murder case, was published in the spring of 2022 by Doubleday, and is being developed as a series with CBS Studios and King Size Productions. I've read “The Local” and can tell you it's a brilliant, fast-paced, thoroughly entertaining legal murder mystery very much in the vein of John Grisham and Scott Turow. I highly recommend “The Local” to you and am very glad that it's being developed for TV. Who knew Intellectual Property law could be so exciting?Joey and his wife, Abby, are adapting the book “In the Blood: How Two Outsiders Solved a Centuries-Old Medical Mystery and Took on the US Army,” as a feature film with Star Thrower Entertainment.  For the record, Joey and I have known one another for many years having graduated together from UCLA's famed MFA in Screenwriting program.

The show will premiere with two episodes on June 4. Though the trailer is a little more than a minute long, it doesn't show its hand too much other than to imply that someone - or something - is hunting and killing Jedi. Marvel Studios head of streaming, television, and animation, Brad Winderbaum, confirmed that the character of Richard Rider/Nova has a project in development. Winderbaum qualified the statement by saying that Marvel Studios is running more like a traditional tv studio and that things can change. Director Patty Jenkins revealed that she is back on board to helm the Rogue Squadron movie after making a new deal with Lucasfilm. Originally announced back in 2020, the project has shifted around due to changes with Jenkins, the potential of it being made into a television show, and more. Jenkins has long wanted to make what she calls a fighter pilot movie for Star Wars DC Studios is going all-in on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow writer Ana Nogueira who will also pen the live-action adaptation of Teen Titans.  While the original Teen Titans were introduced in the 1960s in DC Comics, the characters have grown and expanded and found a popular audience with the animated show Teen Titans Go! on Cartoon Network. Venom 3 is officially titled Venom: The Last Dance and the release date for the film has scootched up from November 8 to October 25. Ari Aster has assembled an all-star cast for his next film Eddington, which began production last week. Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, and Austin Butler are set to star in the A24 feature. In April 2023, Variety reported that a Twilight series was in early development. Last week, Lionsgate Vice Chairman Michael Burns confirmed that the project is currently being shopped and that it has shifted to an animated series. New Line's adaptation of Stephen King's Salem's Lot has been removed from Warner Brothers theatrical release schedule and will now debut on Max sometime later this year. It and Annabelle writer Gary Dauberman wrote and directed the film, which has been in flux since the Warner Brothers and Discovery merger. Netflix anthology series Black Mirror will return in 2025 with six new episodes including a sequel to the sci-fi adventure episode, USS Callister. FX's The Bear has quietly been renewed for a fourth season, which will film back to back with the third season. Andy and Barbara Muschietti, the filmmaking team behind the $1 billion grossing It movies and last year's The Flash, have teamed up with Skydance to launch a brand new horror division, named Nocturna. The Muschiettis will co-own the label and run its creative direction. According to industry insider Jeff Sneider, Scarlett Johansson has reportedly been offered the lead role for the upcoming Jurassic World film, currently scheduled for 2025. AMC picked up rights to all four seasons of the post-apocalyptic drama Snowpiercer, including the completed but never aired fourth season. The first three seasons will begin streaming on AMC+ later this year, with the final season set to premiere on both AMC and AMC+ in early 2025. Universal announced the release date for its latest action flick With Love, starring Everything Everywhere All at Once Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan. This marks Quan's first major leading role in his 40 years in Hollywood. With Love is scheduled to hit theaters February 7, 2025. Lionsgate released the first official trailer for the remake of The Crow, which stars Bill Skarsgard. The film releases in theaters on June 7th. CBS Studios announced the voice cast for the upcoming Among Us animated series, which is based on the popular video game. Randall Park, Elijah Wood, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Ashley Johnson will voice the main characters. At this time, the series does not have a release date.

n an exciting development for fans of the popular video game Among Us, CBS Studios has unveiled the voice cast for the upcoming animated series based on the game. The cast features some of the entertainment industry's most beloved actors, including Randall Park of Fresh Off the Boat, Yvette Nicole Brown from Community, Elijah Wood from The Lord of the Rings saga, and Ashley Johnson, known for her role in Critical Role. The series promises to bring the thrilling and deceitful world of Among Us to life, with each actor voicing a member of The Skeld, a spaceship crew navigating through sabotage and betrayal. Developed by CBS Studios and animated by Titmouse, the studio behind Star Trek: Lower Decks and The Legend of Vox Machina, the Among Us animated series has not yet announced a streaming platform or network. Owen Dennis, known for Infinity Train, leads the creative charge as the creator of the series. He is joined by executive producers Forest Willard, Marcus Bromander, and Carl Neisser of Innersloth (the creators of the Among Us game) along with Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, and Ben Kalina from Titmouse. The Among Us game, first released in 2018, saw a massive surge in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic. It revolves around crewmates trying to complete tasks on a spaceship while imposters sabotage their efforts and eliminate them. Players must deduce who the imposters are and vote them off the ship to survive. Despite plans for a sequel, the game's developers chose to expand the original game with new features and maps instead.

Adam Fox is an actor, writer, and director living in Vancouver, Canada. Adam has performed, directed, and worked behind the scenes in over a dozen studio and independent projects. Most recently, Adam took on the recurring guest-star role of Austin in CBS Studios' upcoming 5-episode Christmas comedy, “The Holiday Shift”, which debuted on Roku on November 17th. He has also completed filming two seasons of the OutTV original series “Sugar Highs” where he plays the lead role of Bud. This is the table read of Sam In Retrograde written by Sam jarvis (Dollface. Tosh.o). SAM IN RETROGRADE is a weird little comedy about one woman's journey through grief, and her attempt to find herself in the process. More specifically, it's about a girl who starts carrying her dead husband's urn around everywhere and talking to it as if they're still married. Which yes, does affect her relationships with everyone else in her life. As you'd imagine. The project was developed and optioned at CBS Studios with Party Over Here producing, and Bert & Bertie (HAWKEYE, THE GREAT, TROOP ZERO) attached to direct. It was taken out the summer of 2021 and pitched to Hulu, Apple, Paramount+, Showtime, Peacock, FX, Freeform, and HBOMax. While a few execs fought for it, they all ended up passing. And if I recall correctly, Amazon and Netflix passed before hearing a pitch. It was all very cool. The cast for this one is  nothing short than spectactular. His films include Flashdance, Top Gun, The Rock, Crimson Tide, Con Air, Armageddon, Enemy of the State, Black Hawk Down, Pearl Harbor, Kangaroo Jack, and the Beverly Hills Cop, Bad Boys, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the National Treasure franchises. Many of his films have been co-produced by Paramount and Disney, while many of his television series have been co-produced by Warner Bros. and CBS Studios. In July 2003, Bruckheimer was honored by Variety as the first producer in Hollywood history to produce the top two highest-grossing films of a single weekend, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and Bad Boys II.
