This week we've got an amazing guest - of this I am sure.Nunzio himself, actor Jonathan Del Arco, is hanging out with the gang and looking back on his scene-stealing turn as a dancing waiter in the Season 5 episode, “Last Tango in Philly.” There aren't many actors in Hollywood who made the jump from The Wonder Years and Blossom to The Sopranos and Star Trek, but he somehow pulled it off, all while navigating the unwelcoming waters for gay actors in 1990s Hollywood. In addition to his incredible on-screen career, Jonathan has become a philanthropic force, working with 5 Presidential campaigns and winning the 2013 Visibility Award from the Human Rights Campaign. But even with all these accomplishments, he still has some words for Rider about a long-standing grudge he has with the Strong boys. Star Trek fans went crazy when we found out that Captain Jean Luc Picard from Star Trek the Next Generation would be returning to screens. We even went crazier when we found out that actor and activist Jonathan Del Arco's would be returning, 27 years after his first appearance as Hugh, an iconic fan favorite from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Television audiences most recently saw him as Dr. Fernando Morales, a role that spanned ten years over the course of two series The Closer and Major Crimes on TNT. Other memorable appearances on film and television include Nip/Tuck, The Sopranos, 24, Crossing Jordan, Huff, Star Trek: Voyager, Mommies, The Wonder Years, Blossom, Boy Meets World, Miami Vice, NCIS, and The Crazy Ones with Robin Williams. Foregoing college at 18 he joined the company of the Broadway hit Torch Song Trilogy and toured the country along with Golden Girls' Estelle Getty. Many other Broadway and off Broadway plays followed before Del Arco settled in Los Angeles to pursue work on television and film. As a passionate activist on behalf of LGBT rights, immigrant's rights, anti-bullying efforts, and the environment, he served as a campaign surrogate for President Barack Obama and Sec. Hillary Clinton and is a sought after public speaker. He has shared his coming out story and childhood as an immigrant and survivor of bullying and discrimination at the first pride event at FBI Headquarters, the 2012 Democratic Convention, The Human Rights Campaign, and throughout corporate America. We chatted with Jonathan about his experience growing up in the US as an immigrant from Uruguay, his friendship with Estelle Getty, missing a stage cue, life during the AIDS epidemic, the LGBTQ community in Star Trek, his crush on Captain Kirk, and why it's imperative for the LGBTQ community to become politically involved.

This week on Episode 469 of Priority One --- We ‘Trek Out' what's coming to Comic-Con@Home, and our thoughts on the Lower Decks Trailer! In Star Trek gaming, we share with you which game developers are taking actions for a more equitable future, and we relieve several old favorites - like Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Sir Patrick Stewart Turns 80 As far as Birthday's go, 80 is an incredible milestone -- And when you're Sir Patrick Stewart, everyone wants to recognize your achievements! On June 13th, Sir Patrick celebrated his 80th Birthday and friends, fans, and news outlets did their very best to honor the veteran actor. The Guardian, for instance, interviewed several of SirtPatStew's friends and colleagues to share some of their most memorable moments with the actor. For instance, David Tennant had this to say, "He's fit as a fiddle and so strapping! How many 80-year-olds are the lead in their own science fiction series? There's nothing of the 'old man' about him. He's very virile – I'm sure he wouldn't mind me saying that!" Sir Ian McKellen told The Guardian, "Eighty is, of course, a milestone but he has had so many remarkable achievements in his careering journey from Huddersfield, to Stratford, the West End, Hollywood, to Broadway and beyond, I'm sure there will be no silly talk about retirement." And - of course - many of his co-stars from TNG joined him for a celebration and shared a picture of them together. Fortunately, they were all wearing their masks and maintaining social distancing! Happy Birthday, Sir Patrick! https://twitter.com/berman_rick/status/1282867166321098752?s=21 Robert Sallin & a new Trek Film On July 9th, Den Of Geek's Don Kaye spoke with Robert Sallin -- producer on the 1982 film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. According to Kaye, during an interview about the film, Sallin hinted that he's currently in the process of developing a script for a new Star Trek Film. I don't have it completely written, but I have a lot of it written. I have a concept for another Star Trek feature that I've had discussions with Paramount about — at least on the phone. This one I guarantee you is unlike anything that has been done in Star Trek, and it will be part of the canon, but they (the studio) don't want to talk about it until they see what Noah Hawley does. -Robert Sallin via Den of Geek Comic-Con@Home w/ Star Trek The pandemic may have put a damper on most of our plans this year --- including the cancellation or rescheduling or re-imagining of convention events. San Diego Comic Con for instance, has shifted their presentations to an online format and Star Trek will be participating in several ways. Generally, the event takes place Wednesday July 22 - Sunday, July 26. However, you don't have to stay glued to your computer all three days for the Star Trek Studded events. Thursday, July 23 @ 10AM PT, The Star Trek Universe Virtual Panel will feature discussions with Executive Producers Alex Kurtzman & Heather Kadin -- Followed by a virtual table read of Star Trek Discovery's episode “Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2” with many of the episode's featured actors. Later, Mike McMahan takes the virtual stage to discuss the new animated comedy series, “Star Trek: Lower Decks.” McMahan will be joined by several of the voice actors from the series including Tawny Newsom, Jack Quaid and more. It all wraps with a “Star Trek: Picard” panel that includes Sir Patrick Steward himself along with fan favorites like Jonathan Frakes, Jonathan Del Arco, Marina Sirtis, and Jeri Ryan -- among many of the other key actors from the series. During an Instagram Livestream, Mary Chieffo expressed enthusiasm over the prospect of returning as L'Rell in the new Pike Series: “Strange New Worlds” ---- It would be nice to see a discussion about what the world will look like in this series set in the same universe as Star Trek Discovery. Who else could reprise their roles? https://www.instagram.com/tv/CCeW1mtJLdT/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link Lower Decks - Trailer If you were up early and perusing social media on Sunday, July 12th, your feed may have been flooded with tweets about a leaked trailer for the new animated series, “Star Trek: Lower Decks.” But, before long, Star Trek's official websites and social media channels went ahead and officially released it to the masses. The 2-minute and 15 second video takes us on a wild ride aboard the USS Cerritos and provides a sneak peak of the show's overall tone. We also get a solid peak into the types of characters we'll be following like Jack Quaid's Ensign Boimler and Tawny Newsome's Ensign Mariner. https://youtu.be/V3RkBKedKWw Grant Imahara Before we move on, Captains - we need to take a moment and remember the life of Grant Imahara - who passed away suddenly on June 13th. Imahara - who is best known for his role on Mythbusters and - later, portrayed Hikaru Sulu in Star Trek: Continues. He was only 49 years old. Silence Continues We're still holding our coverage of updates from Star Trek Online but, thought it prudent to share with you a list of other game developers who have stepped up to support social justice, equality, and the Black Lives Matter Movement. Blizzard has donated to several organizations Bungie has designed items to sell with all the proceeds going towards Equal Justice Initiative Niantic (Pokemon Go) is donating $5Mil to "Black gaming and AR creators that can live on the Niantic platform" and "US nonprofit organizations that are helping local communities rebuild." EA is donating $1Million to the Equal Justice Initiative, the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund, and other organizations  Ubisoft is making a $100,000 donation to the NAACP This is but a short list of game developers and companies who have taken measurable actions to support Social Justice and Equality. Gamespot has a very extensive list --- links will be in the shownotes.  Star Trek Timelines Event: “Lightbringers”  by Thomas Reynolds After last week's Flashback to Dozaria, Star Trek Timelines returns to the future...present...whatever, with “Lightbringers”. The Galaxy-type Event runs from this Thursday, July 16th, to Monday July 20th for the Romulan Star Empire, Federation, and Ferengi Traditionalist factions, with 5-star Mother L'Rell as the Ranked Reward crewmember. Event crew granting high bonuses for “Lightbringers” include last week's Ranked Reward 5-star Kamin, the new 4-star Traveler Wesley, and the returning 4-star Commander Tomalak. Other Picard and Wesley variants will grant small bonuses. Star Trek Timelines' Offer Wall Comes Tumbling Down on iOS by Thomas Reynolds https://stevivor.com/news/potential-star-trek-timelines-privacy-issue-sees-resources-shut-protest/ Well, that didn't take long. On July 10th Star Trek Timelines developer Wicked Realms announced it was removing its controversial Offer Wall feature from the iOS app indefinitely. Ostensibly this is because “due to Apple guidelines the offers that can be presented on iOS are too limited to be of interest.” Third-party developers taking issue with Apple's App Store constraints is certainly nothing new, and it's significant that the Wall's alive and well on the game's Android version. However, recent player base outcry (and fan resource website outages) protesting perceived privacy threats almost certainly influenced the decision. Wicked Realms acknowledged “ongoing concerns regarding the Offer Wall in general” and their advertising partner ironSource's business practices in particular. It all wraps with a “Star Trek: Picard” panel that includes Sir Patrick Steward himself along with fan favorites like Jonathan Frakes, Jonathan Del Arco, Marina Sirtis, and Jeri Ryan -- among many of the other key actors from the series. During an Instagram Livestream, Mary Chieffo expressed enthusiasm over the prospect of returning as L’Rell in the new Pike Series: “Strange New Worlds” ---- It would be nice to see a discussion about what the world will look like in this series set in the same universe as Star Trek Discovery. Who else could reprise their roles? https://www.instagram.com/tv/CCeW1mtJLdT/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link Lower Decks - Trailer If you were up early and perusing social media on Sunday, July 12th, your feed may have been flooded with tweets about a leaked trailer for the new animated series, “Star Trek: Lower Decks.” But, before long, Star Trek’s official websites and social media channels went ahead and officially released it to the masses. The 2-minute and 15 second video takes us on a wild ride aboard the USS Cerritos and provides a sneak peak of the show’s overall tone. We also get a solid peak into the types of characters we’ll be following like Jack Quaid’s Ensign Boimler and Tawny Newsome’s Ensign Mariner. https://youtu.be/V3RkBKedKWw Grant Imahara Before we move on, Captains - we need to take a moment and remember the life of Grant Imahara - who passed away suddenly on June 13th. Imahara - who is best known for his role on Mythbusters and - later, portrayed Hikaru Sulu in Star Trek: Continues. He was only 49 years old. Silence Continues We’re still holding our coverage of updates from Star Trek Online but, thought it prudent to share with you a list of other game developers who have stepped up to support social justice, equality, and the Black Lives Matter Movement. Star Trek Timelines Event: “Lightbringers”  by Thomas Reynolds After last week’s Flashback to Dozaria, Star Trek Timelines returns to the future...present...whatever, with “Lightbringers”. The Galaxy-type Event runs from this Thursday, July 16th, to Monday July 20th for the Romulan Star Empire, Federation, and Ferengi Traditionalist factions, with 5-star Mother L’Rell as the Ranked Reward crewmember. Event crew granting high bonuses for “Lightbringers” include last week’s Ranked Reward 5-star Kamin, the new 4-star Traveler Wesley, and the returning 4-star Commander Tomalak. Other Picard and Wesley variants will grant small bonuses. Star Trek Timelines’ Offer Wall Comes Tumbling Down on iOS by Thomas Reynolds https://stevivor.com/news/potential-star-trek-timelines-privacy-issue-sees-resources-shut-protest/ Well, that didn’t take long. On July 10th Star Trek Timelines developer Wicked Realms announced it was removing its controversial Offer Wall feature from the iOS app indefinitely. Ostensibly this is because “due to Apple guidelines the offers that can be presented on iOS are too limited to be of interest.” Third-party developers taking issue with Apple’s App Store constraints is certainly nothing new, and it’s significant that the Wall’s alive and well on the game’s Android version. However, recent player base outcry (and fan resource website outages) protesting perceived privacy threats almost certainly influenced the decision. Wicked Realms acknowledged “ongoing concerns regarding the Offer Wall in general” and their advertising partner ironSource’s business practices in particular. This week on Priority One --- We 'Trek Out' the announcement of Star Trek: “Strange New Worlds” and Akiva Goldsman already has some comments; we learn how filming could restart during the pandemic, and Sir Patrick shares some thoughts on Picard! In Star Trek Gaming, Star Trek Online's Mudd's Market floods us with some insanely expensive choices…. And our featured presentation is a sit down with Star Trek's Jonathan Del Arco! Of course, as always, before we wrap up the show, we'll open hailing frequencies for your incoming messages Let us know on social media like Facebook, Twitter, or by visiting our website! This Weeks Community Questions Are: CQ: Would you like to see Jeffery Combs play Dr. Boyce? Why or why not? AND CQ: Are you interested in the new Mudd's Market bundle? What ships would you choose? TREK IT OUT by Jake Morgan On Friday May 15th, ViacomCBS made the OFFICIAL announcement that Anson Mount's Christopher Pike would be getting his own series. Along with a brief description of the upcoming show, titled “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”, we were treated to a video featuring the show's three stars - the aforementioned Mount, Ethan Peck, and Rebecca Romijn. In the video, the trio thanked fans for their continued support, and Mount promised ”We're going to get to work on a classic Star Trek show that deals with optimism and the future. And I guess there's only one more thing to say - Hit It” The series Executive Producers include Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, Jenny Lumet, Henry Alonso Myers, Heather Kadin, and our very own Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth! The premiere's story was hashed out by Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, and Jenny Lumet, and Goldsman gets the screenplay credit. Star Trek “Captain” Alex Kurtzman said in a release ”When we said we heard the fans' outpouring of love for Pike, Number One and Spock when they boarded Star Trek: Discovery last season, we meant it. These iconic characters have a deep history in Star Trek canon, yet so much of their stories has yet to be told. With Akiva and Henry at the helm, the Enterprise, its crew and its fans are in for an extraordinary journey to new frontiers in the Star Trek universe.” No release date was announced, but the project was given a “series order”, and it sounds like the premiere script is ready to go. WE'RE GETTING A PIKE SERIES!!! Akiva Goldsman With Variety Discussing “Strange New Worlds” Did you hear we're getting a new Star Trek series? One of the architects of the upcoming “Strange New Worlds”, Akiva Goldsman, sat down with Variety to talk a bit more about the project. Goldsman's goal is to hew closer to The Original Series ”We're going to try to harken back to some classical ‘Trek' values, to be optimistic, and to be more episodic. Obviously, we will take advantage of the serialized nature of character and story building. But I think our plots will be more closed-ended than you've seen in either ‘Discovery' or ‘Picard.”. Goldsman continued ”I imagine it to be closer to the original series than even ‘DS9,'. We can really tell closed-ended stories. We can find ourselves in episodes that are tonally of a piece.” But Goldsman clarified that this won't be EXACTLY like the episodic adventures of years past, telling Variety ”I think one thing that we always struggled with [as fans] was that Kirk is heartbroken at the loss of Edith Keeler in ‘The City on the Edge of Forever' and has to be just fine the next week.  I think what we would want to do is keep the characters having moved through and recognizing the experiences they've had in previous episodes, but to be able to tell contained, episodic stories.” Could Jeffery Combs Show Up in “Strange New Worlds” Imagine - if you dare - not only getting “Strange New Worlds”, but also getting the incomparable Jeffrey Combs as part of the crew. Star Trek twitter presence “Andorian Soup” has dared to imagine just that. On May 16th, Andorian Soup - whose avatar is Shran from Star Trek: Enterprise - posted a side-by-side photo of Jeffrey Combs and John Hoyt, the actor who played ship physician and Pike confidant Dr. Phillip Boyce in “The Cage”.  The resemblance between the two actors is certainly undeniable. So what are the chances that the prolific actor could play the wise Doctor? According to Combs, not high. Replying to Andorian Soup's Twitter post, Combs himself said ”Thank you. Nice thought, but the chasm between what fans want and what the studios want make the chances of it happening slim to none.... and Slim left town.”. That doesn't mean the Star Trek veteran wouldn't be interested. When asked if he'd be open to the possibility, Combs replied ”Of course. I love Star Trek. Star Trek is life.” Patrick Stewart Teases Picard Season 2 Though we are obviously excited for the newly announced “Strange New Worlds”, there were other interesting Trek nuggets for our proverbial dipping that did not include Pike and the gang. This week, Sir Patrick Stewart sat down with Gold Derby to discuss his experience with HIS Trek offering, Star Trek: Picard. Sir Patrick reiterated his initial hesitation for playing the legendary Captain again, but revealed that he thought season 1 may be his last time doing so. Stewart recalled reading the script for the series finale, saying ”the writers had been a little bit undercover about that aspect of how series one was going to end. I learned it from reading the script, and when I saw that Picard collapsed and died when he was on that alien planet, I thought, ‘Oh my lord, I'm being written out of the show?” Instead, Picard lives on with an “artificial life inside me, but not a subservient, cruel one like the Borg. Well, we shall see. We don't know how Picard will with this new condition that has become part of his life.” Stewart also teased what's to come in Season 2, telling Gold Derby ”There are startling events predicted in Season 2. I'm so excited about them, because it is taking season one from where we were, we aren't going to be covering the same ground. And it's going to be, I think, extraordinary. I'm very excited about it.” Star Trek Online and Gaming News by Shane Hoover Mudd Plays With Time Again… Again? Well it's a slow news week for Star Trek gaming, but there's one very big talking point from Star Trek Online! In a STO News blog posted May 19th, Ambassador Kael announced the latest new offerings from Mudd's Market. And, according to the blog itself, “it's one of our craziest bundles ever!” In the usual Mudd's Market style, the bundle is listed with two “prices”.  There's the so-called regular price, which is 29,500 Zen, or nearly $300 in cash. Then there's the sale price, at which the bundle is available to players until 5/26, which is 14,750 Zen, or nearly $150 in cash. So what does that significant investment get you? That's where this bundle gets really interesting.  Because, unlike other Mudd's Market offerings, this bundle is all about choices. You get to choose THREE of these six items: Amarie-class Heavy Escort [T6] Temporal Science Vessel [T6] - Account-wide reclaim of faction-appropriate ship. Temporal Destroyer [T6] - Account-wide reclaim of faction-appropriate ship. 2 Zen Store T6 ship 100% off coupons 10x Ultimate Tech Upgrades A Phoenix pack Epic prize token which will unlock a character-locked ship So when you've purchased the bundle and claimed your three choices, any ships chosen will be forever reclaimable on all of your characters. You can also purchase the bundle as many times as you want. So, purchasing the bundle twice could get you all six choices. And subsequent purchases of the bundle after that would get you more T6 ship coupons, Ultimate Tech Upgrades, and Epic Phoenix prize tokens.  That is, you know, if you wanted to spend $450 or more on STO.  STO's Groupees Fundraiser We've already covered Star Trek Online's charity fundraiser for Pop Culture Hero Coalition and United Way Bay Area, but it's worth mentioning two updates tweeted this week to the game's Twitter account. First, they've restocked the $10 bundles, so if you missed out before, now's your chance. Second, the tweet declared that the Groupees bundles have raised nearly $110,000 for the two charities. So, a big congratulations to Star Trek Online, and to its players, for their efforts!

Then, we look On Screen to episode 8 of Star Trek Picard - “Broken Pieces” Of course, as always, before we wrap up the show, we'll open hailing frequencies for your incoming messages Let us know on social media like Facebook, Twitter, or by visiting our website! This Weeks Community Questions Are: CQ: Who is your favorite Rios - the original or one of his Holograms? AND CQ: Did you catch our interview with Al Rivera about “Measure of Morality”? What did you think? TREK IT OUT by Jake Morgan Santiago Cabrera On Rios and the Holos (Not a band...but it should be) This week's “Star Trek: Picard” -  “Broken Pieces” - gave us a clearer look at La Serena Captain, Cris Rios. SYFY Wire sat down with the man behind Rios and all of his holos, Santiago Cabrera, to talk about the many faces of the haunted Captain. Cabrera told SYFY Wire that he didn't want the holos to be a gimmick ”There had to be substance to it. What hooked me and what I loved about it was the psychology behind a man who is alone and happens to be with these versions of himself. It's better when you can reveal something about a character without saying too much.” The portrayal of so many holograms likely wouldn't have worked if not for clear distinctions...like those glorious accents. ”They said: 'What accents can you do?' and I said, 'I can do anything!' Which was mostly true. Some accents are very easy and accessible for me”. That includes Emmett's, the Spanish speaking Tactical hologram. But, according to Cabrera, the Scottish accent proved a bit more difficult ”That was the one I had to work on the most.  Michael [Chabon] really wanted to do an homage to Scotty, so he was like, 'Can you do Scottish?' That was a tricky one. So I got a Scottish friend of mine to help read the lines with me. I just made sure I had the lines down very, very early. It was one of my favorites because I had more time with it.” For more of the interview, which includes Cabrera's preparation for playing the jet-setting Rios, and his thoughts on working alongside Sir Patrick Stewart, follow the link in our show notes. SyFy Wire With Jonathan Frakes Busy week for SyFy wire. They also sat down with Actor, Director, and fan-favorite Jonathan Frakes to talk about what it was like to get back in front of the camera as Will Riker. Frakes admitted that, like co-stars Jeri Ryan and Jonathan Del Arco, finding his former role's voice was challenging. Only through collaboration with showrunner Michael Chabon was the 67 year-old Star Trek veteran able to find his cadence. ”I had very long, very specific conversations with Michael about Riker's turn-of-phrase. For every scene. He slipped me the script early, and I worked on it for a long time. We had a line-by-line, word-by-word process. He understood completely and what ended up on the page was a total collaboration. I didn't change the story, but I changed certain rhythms. I'm not sure if they felt more like Frakes or more like Riker.” Regarding the Troi-Riker's long-running relationship, Frakes said ”At the beginning of The Next Generation, Troi and Riker were lovers before they transferred to the Enterprise, and then that [story] was buried so that they could be whatever — available to relationships with random aliens. But, we held onto this relationship and insisted to each other that we maintain it. And as a result —I think — it resurfaced in the final movie [Nemesis] in which the two characters were married. It was very important, this relationship, we take it very personally and we feel wonderfully vindicated to see them return.” Frakes, who is also involved BEHIND the camera, gave an update on Star Trek's other show, Discovery. ”As we know, they've gone 930 years into the future. And in that is optimism. Certainly for Michael Burnham.  She's had a life-changing experience over the break between seasons. The new season isn't driven by fears of the past. It's driven primarily by this second chance that the crew of Discovery is given. It's brighter. More complex. I think it's thrilling.” There was a lot covered in the interview - including his directing Picard and fans reception of Trek's two newest series. Follow the link for a closer look! Buttigieg V Stewart On March 13th, former Presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg took the reigns of Jimmy Kimmel Live. During the episode, Buttigieg - a well documented Trekkie - interviewed Sir Patrick Sterwart - before challenging the legend to Star Trek trivia In a segment titled “Who's the Captain Now”, Buttigieg and Stewart answered questions from former TNG co-star LeVar Burton.  The inquiries ranged from “The title of Star Trek: The Next Generation's first episode” to “the character that made Picard facepalm”, and ended with Sir Patrick winning - barely! It was a fun segment, and worth the watch if only for the ribbing Burton gives to both Stewart and Buttigieg. Short Treks To Get Home Video Release If you haven't watched Star Trek's “Short Treks” because of their limited distribution, you'll soon have the opportunity to partake in the bite-sized trekisodes! On Sunday, March 15th, Star Trek.com announced the release of “Short Treks” on Blu Ray and DVD. In addition to discussing the state and future of the game, we also had the privilege of playing Star Trek Online's newest mission - “Measure of Morality: Part One”. The video, titled “Behind the Scenes: Measure of Morality”, will offer viewers a glimpse into the minds behind the 10th Anniversary episodes. Sitting down for the round table discussion will be Sr. Content Designer Jesse Heinig, Lead Designer Al Rivera, Lead Environment Artist Scott Boyd, Animator Weston Pierce, and Environment Artist David Lopez. These Cryptic developers will each offer their takes on the episodes and their experiences contributing to the development process. New Additions To Mudd's Market Star Trek Online's “Mudd's Market” section of the C-Store will be running another 80% off sale from March 19th through March 23rd.  Mudd's Market offers players a chance to use Zen to purchase items that were previously exclusively available during past Events or Giveaways. With “regular” pricing on the Market being prohibitively high, these recurring sales are the expected windows of opportunity for players looking to pick up these items.  And like with previous sales, Mudd's Market is adding new items for this iteration. Joining the Market are the Kelvin Timeline Admiral Uniform, the T6 Vulcan T'Pau Scout Ship, and the Terran Guerilla Combat Armor. The Kelvin Timeline Admiral Uniform is a costume option that was originally a giveaway during the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek back in 2016. The T6 Vulcan T'Pau Scout Ship was the free prize ship during last year's 9th Anniversary event. And the Terran Guerilla Combat Armor was originally rewarded for initial completion of the “Peril Over Pahvo” Featured Task Force Operation in March of 2019. Cryptic Studios Special Message Cryptic Studios released a special message to players on Monday, March 16th. In the message, Cryptic speaks to players about how the current pandemic response is affecting the studio. While the studio is taking steps to protect its staff, their intentions are to keep all games running by working remotely. The message closes with /QUOTE/ We appreciate your understanding while we adapt to both ensure a positive play experience for all of you and keep our studio family safe. /ENDQUOTE/ In another Tweet posted by Star Trek Online, they informed players that the Tribble and Redshirt test servers will be unavailable to the public for at least a few weeks. Those servers will be used by the development teams for remote development and testing. In Gaming news, we sit down with Star Trek Online Lead Designer Al “Captain Geko” Rivera and review the latest happenings in the Star Trek gaming multiverse…. Then, we look On Screen to episode 8 of Star Trek Picard - “Broken Pieces” Of course, as always, before we wrap up the show, we’ll open hailing frequencies for your incoming messages Let us know on social media like Facebook, Twitter, or by visiting our website! This Weeks Community Questions Are: CQ: Who is your favorite Rios - the original or one of his Holograms? AND CQ: Did you catch our interview with Al Rivera about “Measure of Morality”? What did you think? TREK IT OUT by Jake Morgan Santiago Cabrera On Rios and the Holos (Not a band...but it should be) This week’s “Star Trek: Picard” -  “Broken Pieces” - gave us a clearer look at La Serena Captain, Cris Rios. SYFY Wire sat down with the man behind Rios and all of his holos, Santiago Cabrera, to talk about the many faces of the haunted Captain. Cabrera told SYFY Wire that he didn’t want the holos to be a gimmick ”There had to be substance to it. What hooked me and what I loved about it was the psychology behind a man who is alone and happens to be with these versions of himself. It's better when you can reveal something about a character without saying too much.” The portrayal of so many holograms likely wouldn’t have worked if not for clear distinctions...like those glorious accents. ”They said: 'What accents can you do?' and I said, 'I can do anything!' Which was mostly true. Some accents are very easy and accessible for me”. That includes Emmett’s, the Spanish speaking Tactical hologram. It was one of my favorites because I had more time with it.” For more of the interview, which includes Cabrera’s preparation for playing the jet-setting Rios, and his thoughts on working alongside Sir Patrick Stewart, follow the link in our show notes. ”I had very long, very specific conversations with Michael about Riker’s turn-of-phrase. For every scene. He slipped me the script early, and I worked on it for a long time. We had a line-by-line, word-by-word process. He understood completely and what ended up on the page was a total collaboration. I didn’t change the story, but I changed certain rhythms. I’m not sure if they felt more like Frakes or more like Riker.” Regarding the Troi-Riker’s long-running relationship, Frakes said ”At the beginning of The Next Generation, Troi and Riker were lovers before they transferred to the Enterprise, and then that [story] was buried so that they could be whatever — available to relationships with random aliens. But, we held onto this relationship and insisted to each other that we maintain it. And as a result —I think — it resurfaced in the final movie [Nemesis] in which the two characters were married. It was very important, this relationship, we take it very personally and we feel wonderfully vindicated to see them return.” Frakes, who is also involved BEHIND the camera, gave an update on Star Trek’s other show, Discovery. ”As we know, they’ve gone 930 years into the future. And in that is optimism. Certainly for Michael Burnham.  She's had a life-changing experience over the break between seasons. The new season isn't driven by fears of the past. It’s driven primarily by this second chance that the crew of Discovery is given. It's brighter. More complex. I think it's thrilling.” There was a lot covered in the interview - including his directing Picard and fans reception of Trek’s two newest series. Follow the link for a closer look! Buttigieg V Stewart On March 13th, former Presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg took the reigns of Jimmy Kimmel Live. During the episode, Buttigieg - a well documented Trekkie - interviewed Sir Patrick Sterwart - before challenging the legend to Star Trek trivia In a segment titled “Who’s the Captain Now”, Buttigieg and Stewart answered questions from former TNG co-star LeVar Burton.  The inquiries ranged from “The title of Star Trek: The Next Generation’s first episode” to “the character that made Picard facepalm”, and ended with Sir Patrick winning - barely! It was a fun segment, and worth the watch if only for the ribbing Burton gives to both Stewart and Buttigieg. Short Treks To Get Home Video Release If you haven’t watched Star Trek’s “Short Treks” because of their limited distribution, you’ll soon have the opportunity to partake in the bite-sized trekisodes! On Sunday, March 15th, Star Trek.com announced the release of “Short Treks” on Blu Ray and DVD. In addition to the episodes "Runaway," "Calypso," "The Brightest Star," "The Escape Artist," "Q&A," "The Trouble With Edward," "Ask Not," "Ephraim & Dot," and "The Girl Who Made the Stars.", you will also get a look behind the scenes with “making of” Documentaries and commentary. Both Blu Ray and DVD versions are set for release on June 2nd, and the Blu Ray can be pre-ordered at Amazon.com for 25.99 USD at the time of this recording. Star Trek Online and Gaming News by Shane Hoover This week, we were joined by very special guest Al “Captain Geko” Rivera - Star Trek Online’s lead designer. In addition to discussing the state and future of the game, we also had the privilege of playing Star Trek Online’s newest mission - “Measure of Morality: Part One”. Be sure to Trek out our livestream on Youtube, and keep an eye out for Part II coming soon.  STO Behind the Scenes Cryptic Studios have announced an upcoming special video premiering on YouTube March 23rd. New Additions To Mudd’s Market Star Trek Online’s “Mudd’s Market” section of the C-Store will be running another 80% off sale from March 19th through March 23rd.  Mudd’s Market offers players a chance to use Zen to purchase items that were previously exclusively available during past Events or Giveaways. With “regular” pricing on the Market being prohibitively high, these recurring sales are the expected windows of opportunity for players looking to pick up these items.  And like with previous sales, Mudd’s Market is adding new items for this iteration. Joining the Market are the Kelvin Timeline Admiral Uniform, the T6 Vulcan T’Pau Scout Ship, and the Terran Guerilla Combat Armor. The Kelvin Timeline Admiral Uniform is a costume option that was originally a giveaway during the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek back in 2016. The T6 Vulcan T’Pau Scout Ship was the free prize ship during last year’s 9th Anniversary event. This week on Priority One --- Chabon is back on Instagram with more answers to fan questions before heading to The Hollywood Reporter to discuss Nepenthe. Next, Jonathan Del Arco talks Hugh, and Star Trek has an answer to Covid-19. In Gaming news, the Legacy Bundle bugs get fixed, and the STO team has big plans for the Summer Event ship…. Then, we look On Screen to episode 7 of Star Trek Picard - Nepenthe Of course, as always, before we wrap up the show, we'll open hailing frequencies for your incoming messages Let us know on social media like Facebook, Twitter, or by visiting our website! This Weeks Community Questions Are: CQ: Do you plan on using the Vulcan Salute as your new DEFACTO greeting? Have you been using it already? AND CQ: What do you think a new summer event Risian Science Ship should look like? TREK IT OUT by Jake Morgan Michael Chabon Heads Back To - Or Stays On - Instagram Just as he has the previous two weeks, Picard season 1 showrunner - Michael Chabon - answered fans burning questions on Instagram Live. As in previous iterations of the quick-scrolling Q&A, Chabon had some fun things to say, some insightful thoughts, and a ton of information about Star Trek's newest series. Be advised, from this point forward - spoilers a-plenty are in bound. As you'd likely guess, many questions arose about this week's guest stars - Riker and Troi. When asked about Riker's reserve status, Chabon responded ”He retired from active duty when he was still captain of the *Titan*. Were he ever to be called up to active service, he would presumably retain that rank.”. Chabon later told a fan that much of Riker and Troi's backstory never made it to the screen, and the Titan was referenced but later dropped for reasons Chabon could not recall. In regards to why Riker and Troi left active duty, Chabon said ”Riker and Troi made the obvious but painful choice to go on inactive states and move to Nepenthe, for the sake of their family and their child's life” In regards to why Emergency Holograms were not included in the Synth Ban, Chabon said ”It was certainly debated by Federation policy makers, but a distinction was drawn, possibly because some failsafes and limitations had already been put in place, in the wake of the experience with *Voyager*'s Doctor.” Finally, Chabon explained the killing of Hugh...sort of One of the stories we are telling in this season on Picard is a story about the tragedy of being Borg, or more precisely, of being assimilated and then, even more poignantly, being restored from assimilation and struggling forever after with assimilation's traumatic legacy. In a very unique way, Hugh was able to recontextualize his trauma into something that brought healing and hope to others, which gave purpose and brought healing to himself. But his predicament, like that of all former Borg-as he explained to Picard in episode 106-remained essentially tragic, and tragically is how he dies, cut down by someone who sees him as a disgusting monster at the moment when he makes his boldest claim to dignity and freedom. Michael Chabon Talks Nepenthe Chabon doesn't only do it for the Insta - Q&A's that is. He also sat down with The Hollywood Reporter this week to talk Picard, and more specifically, “Nepenthe”. Chabon spoke about the reunion of Picard and the Troi-Riker's, and about the tense moment Picard had with Deanna ”When you're in the scene, and knowing who [Riker and Troi] are, and who they have been, and trying to project them forward into a narrative that feels believable — and incorporate some of the themes of this show, like reckoning with the past, if you're a fan of the show, this interaction — it's necessary. It's not expected, but it's important to the character of Picard to have this moment.” He continues ”When someone calls you out on your [EXPLETIVE] like that? On the things you're dealing with and not acknowledging that you should acknowledge? To me, that's the definition of a friend” Chabon also admitted to THR that Hugh, and another former Borg - Icheb, were not originally planned for the series. The Showrunner said of Hugh ”The initial germ of having Hugh involved, and that he would die came from the natural discussions of, what does it mean to have been Borg? So once we sort of committed to a big part of our season being about the lives of former Borg — Ex Bs, as we call them — and exploring how their lives are traumatized [from that experience], how they have or have not dealt with that trauma, and how they remain these objects of fear and hatred even though they were victimized by the Borg, to put Hugh in the center of that lead to what felt like a dramatic way to service the character's end.” Jonathan Del Arco On Hugh's Death Michael Chabon wasn't the only Star Trek insider to defend the death of our beloved Hugh. Jonathan Del Arco, the man behind the cybernetics, sat down with Jordan Hoffman to discuss Hugh's ultimate sacrifice. “Well, it's really important in the show - in the world. Because the world of the show is dystopian, and very few people are willing to put themselves on the line for each other. There's a need for that sort of connectivity and self sacrifice. So honored to have died for Picard.” Del Arco went on to explain how the news of Hugh's demise affected the way the actor saw the role, saying “Actually it was very liberating. [...] When you start a new series, you're always trying to like - not play it safe - but you're trying to do things that are not going to upset anybody. And actually this kind of blew the lid off that for me as an actor, and I was just like ‘I'm just going to go for it' and really making bold choices, as an actor. So it was a really fun experiment that way.” For a link to the StarTrek.com interview, trek out our show notes! Star Trek VS The Covid-19 Virus With the increasing risk of Covid-19, more colloquially known as the Coronavirus, the US Center for Disease Control has issued a few tips on how to protect yourself - including avoiding close contact with others and proper handwashing techniques...and Star Trek may be able to help with both! On March 2nd, former presidential hopeful and founder of “Humanity Forward” Andrew Yang tweeted a photo of Leonard Nimoy's Spock doing the Vulcan salute, saying “I hate to say this - I'm not much of a germophobe myself - but we might want to work on a personal greeting that doesn't involve physical contact.”. Sound crazy? The US Government doesn't think so. In a closed door meeting of the House Democratic caucus on Tuesday morning, an attending physician suggested the avoidance of touching - and offered the Vulcan Salute as an alternative . From the CNN article /”Hand-to-hand contact is to be avoided, the physician said. The physician encouraged lawmakers to use the "Star Trek" greeting, according to Democratic Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota, though he noted with a laugh he was unable to separate his fingers to properly make the gesture”. Okay, so we've avoided the close contact thing...but what about proper handwashing? Well, according to the CDC, you should be washing your hands often - and for at least 20 seconds. You know what else takes about 20 seconds? Quoting the opening to Star Trek. The brilliant realization was tweeted out by our friends at Roddenberry, with the caption ”We didn't make it up. #roddenberry #coronavirus”. So wash your hands until you get to “Where No One Has Gone Before”! Star Trek Online and Gaming News by Shane Hoover STO Legendary Bundle News There's good bundle news and there's bad bundle news, Captains.  Bad news - the Star Trek Online Legendary +Starship Bundle is no longer available for purchase by PC players. For those who purchased the bundle already, you'll still be able to reclaim the ships from the C-Store. For those who did not, you'll have to wait for the ships or the bundle to eventually return. Good news - if you're a console STO player, you'll be able to purchase the Legendary Starship Bundle yourself in less than a month. In a Twitter post dated March 8th, Star Trek Online announced the bundle would hit consoles in exactly 30 days. So save up those strips of Gold-Pressed Latinum, and get your best builds ready to go, console Captains. Summer Ship Development, Live on Camera! With the 2020 Summer Event already on the team's mind, they've decided to let players in on the creative process. On four weekly community live streams between March 11th and April 1st, members of the Cryptic development team will appear on-stream. As Kael's blog says, "They'll be coached by a member of our ship design team or our concept artist, and all four of them will be assigned the same basic concept: a Risian Science Ship. For the next two hours, they'll hand draw a design for a ship based on that concept." The schedule of team members appearing will be: March 11th - Senior Environment Artist Nick Duguid March 18th - Test Analyst Christian Griffith March 25th - Senior Content Designer Jesse Heinig April 1st - Systems Designer Jonathan Herlache Once the concept designs are all completed, the four drawings will be presented to players to vote on their favorite. Then one more live stream will be dedicated to watching official Concept Artist Hector Ortiz turn the winner into a finalized Star Trek Online ship concept drawing. Tune in to those weekly livestreams on Cryptic Studios' Twitch channel at “twitch.tv/CrypticStudios”. You're a little bored, and you'd like to spice up the game with a fun new ship… but you don't want to spend your cash or convert your Dilithium stash to Zen. You don't even really care all that much about a new ship trait, because the trait on the ship you want won't fit your build. All you've got to do is remember to visit the Ship Vendor in your favorite social hub. In the Ship Vendor UI, just filter the ship list to rank “Fleet - Tier 6”. Then go ahead and buy that T6 Fleet ship for just 20,000 Fleet Credits, plus your 5 Fleet Ship Modules. Since the modules obtained as Rep rewards are Character bound, they're only useful for Fleet Ship purchases, anyway. And 13 modules is more than most Captains will need to upgrade their favorite C-Store ships to Fleet standard. Remember, of course, that Fleet ships purchased through the Ship Vendor are not account-wide unlocks -- and you won't enjoy their maxed mastery trait. But it's a great way to try out that one ship you've always been curious about without getting too invested. Other Gaming News Tilting Point Buys Timelines Wait! Timelines change imminent! This Weeks Community Questions Are: CQ: What do you think Guinan has been up to since Star Trek: Nemesis? AND CQ: Did you enjoy the 10th anniversary episodes? Where do you think the Star Trek Online story is going now? TREK IT OUT by Shane Hoover Executive Shuffle at ViacomCBS It's been a little less than two months since the formation of the new ViacomCBS, home to the Star Trek franchise. And now an article from The Hollywood Reporter gives us the rundown on a number of staffing shake-ups at the company. So far, one of the biggest impacts was felt in the CBS Ad Sales teams, which underwent a series of layoffs and promotions earlier this month. Also announced recently was the departure of Amy Doyle, who served as General Manager of MTV, VH1, CMT and Logo. Perhaps the highest profile change will be the arrival of George Cheeks, who leaves behind a co-chairman position at NBC Entertainment. Cheek's move comes as a bit of a surprise to many, given that he was promoted to the co-chair position only three months ago. It's speculated that Cheeks is arriving to be groomed as a replacement for CBS CEO Joe Ianniello. Ianniello was an ally of ousted CBS CEO Les Moonves, who fought Shari Redstone on the Viacom merger. When the merger was achieved, his position was placed beneath the authority of Viacom CEO Bob Bakish. So, the expectation is for Ianniello to head for the exit doors while Cheeks steps in as the head of the CBS house.  It's not unusual for corporate mergers to kick off a period of restructuring, so the changes aren't really surprising. And while we can't say what the shuffling at ViacomCBS will mean for Star Trek specifically, it certainly seems like the company has been putting its full weight behind the franchise with development and marketing efforts. With many Wall Street investment advisors listing ViacomCBS as a stock to watch for 2020, there's plenty of reason to be optimistic that Trek's future is secure. A Personal Invitation to Picard Season 2 Sir Patrick Stewart has teased invitations of a Season Two guest spot throughout the course of several interviewers this past week.  But if you're a viewer of ABC TV's “The View”, you may have seen by far the most touching invitation. Appearing on the show to promote his new series, Sir Patrick briefly took control of the conversation to declare that he had a formal invitation. Stewart addressed host Whoopi Goldberg, saying “Alex Kurtzman, who is the senior Executive Producer of Star Trek: Picard, and all of his colleagues - of which I am one - want to invite you into the second season.” The invitation was met with boisterous cheers from the studio audience and a joyful hug from Goldberg.  Whoopi Goldberg, well known to Trekkies for her role as TNG's Guinan, was moved near to tears by the invitation. She told the studio that Star Trek was “One of the great experiences of my life”, adding “I had the best time ever!” Picard Delta Popping Up If you're a Trekkie in New York or Los Angeles, you had a special chance this past week to participate in the buzz of the show. A large stage emblazoned with the show's title and a huge Starfleet delta was set up in each city for fans to get photo ops. In New York, the pop-up appeared in Times Square, and in LA it appeared in The Grove. If you were a lucky fan in LA, you might even have bumped into one of the show's stars, Jonathan Del Arco, who continues his role as Hugh from TNG. The star posted a photo of himself and his dog at the Starfleet Delta, along with a caption of “I'm an actor but I'm also a fan... also Roxy was hoping to meet Number One.” There doesn't seem to be a published schedule for the installation, so keep an eye on the @StarTrekCBS Twitter account to catch the Starfleet Delta when it lands somewhere near you. Chateau Picard Jean Luc wakes to the sound of songbirds and an enthusiastic greeting from Number One. Crossing the antique wood floors of the Chateau, he throws open the heavy curtains and gazes out across acres of wine grapes. The early morning sun sets a golden glow to the mists clinging to the hills of… Southern California's Santa Ynez Valley?? Yes, Captains, that's the truth behind the gorgeous filming of Star Trek Picard's Chateau Picard winery. In the show, the family winery nestles in beautiful La Barre, France. In reality, the LA based film crew looked a little closer to home. So we've learned from a recent article published in Wine Spectator magazine. The magazine spoke to the general manager of the Sunstone Winery, Dave Moser, who said that the production team were looking for a location that resembled a real French chateau. The winery was a great fit, with the property's villa built from architecture and pieces brought to the States from southern France. Naturally, the staff of the winery were bound to silence by Non-disclosure agreements until after the show was released. According to Moser, filming was achieved by overhead drones and a few shots of Picard and Data in the vineyard themselves. He described the cast and crew as humble, nice, and very accommodating. On the subject of expected interest from Trekkies, Moser said, “We encourage all the Trekkies and Trekkers to come visit us. It should be quite a few interesting weeks if not months.” Star Trek Online and Gaming News by Anthony Cox Star Trek Online: Legacy Launches Star Trek Online's Tenth Anniversary celebration is here with a brand new two part episode. Team up with Seven of Nine 12 years after the events of Star Trek Picard and bring Michael Burnham along for a series of trials that will span the game's 10 year history. The action mostly takes place on or near the planet Excalbia, seen in the Original Series episode, “The Savage Curtain,” but through the Excalbian matter reorganizing abilities you'll revisit several key moments in both Star Trek Online and Star Trek television. These episodes are a self proclaimed love letter to the past and future of Star Trek Online. We're going to take a dive into all of the content released for the 10th anniversary, so if you haven't had the chance to play along, you might have to save yourself from the spoil-pedos we're about to fire. Finally, You Can Play as the Borg. Kinda. Also launching along with the 10th Anniversary celebration, was the Borg Lock Box. Inside is a chance to acquire some of the more requested items since the game launched. The lock box includes all of the standard R&D packs and boosts, but each box also contains a Borg Datacore that contains some information about the Borg collective along with a non-combat holographic Borg drone to accompany you on your travels. There are new captain's traits for adapting your defenses and offenses in space and on the ground. Liberated Borg duty officers with interesting active duty abilities are also available. Borg technology kits frames and modules can give your captain all those fun Borg abilities we've seen in the television shows, and you can add to your arsenal with the Assimilated Plasma Weapons pack. Of course you'll be able to complete your Borg look by checking out the Lobi store for the Borg Exoskeletal Frame for Borg costume and the Biological and Technological Distinctiveness Extractor weapon. And the grand prize of the Borg Lock Box is none other than the Liberated Borg Command Juggernaut, similar to the Borg ship seen in The Next Generation episodes Decent Parts 1 & 2. Liberated Borg Command Juggernaut This bad boy features a Commander Tactical/Command station and a Lt. Tactical/Miracle Worker Station. It also comes with the Universal Console, Disruptive Topological Matrix, which when activated deals plasma damage to nearby enemies and inflicts Viral Disruption for a short duration. This console also provides a boost to Plasma damage and Hull Regeneration. The starship trait is Enhanced Nanite Regeneration. If slotted, activating a captain or bridge officer heal ability on yourself will gain a significant boost to hull regeneration. The boost increases in value the more hull your ship is missing. Fun Fact: Any foe who comes into contact with this bolt or explosion will disintegrate when defeated instead of warp core breaching. For a full list of the lock box items and stats of the Borg ship, trek out the show notes. Tenth Anniversary Legendary Starship Bundles It wouldn't be a proper Cryptic celebration without the need to talk yourself out of giving them more money. On February 13th, the 10th Anniversary Legendary Starship bundle will be available to purchase in the C-store on PC and then on March 3rd for console players.. Filled with some of the most sought after ships, this bundle includes new variations of the “hero” ships from the Star Trek universe. As of this recording only the Galaxy Class Legendary Command Exploration Cruiser and the Defiant Class Legendary Pilot Warship have been revealed, but rest assured that this pack will likely include many of the starships that have starred in our favorite Star Trek movies and tv shows across all of the multiverses. The Legendary Command Exploration Cruiser does come with the Enhanced Engineering Systems space set. Previously only available for Federation characters from the tier 4, 5, and 6 versions of the Exploration Cruiser. It also comes with the T6 cruiser ability and trait package along with a brand new account wide starship trait, “Make it so.” The Legendary Pilot Warship comes with the Stealth Fighter space set, again previously available on the tier 4, 5, and 6 versions of the Defiant.  Again, this ship comes with the warship ability and trait package and comes with the “Overpowered and over-gunned account wide starship trait.  Both of these ships come with all available visual variants including the new USS Ross variant for the Galaxy and the “nose art” variant for the Defiant. The “nose art” version allows you to add preset graphics to the nose of the Defiant, similar to old WWII bombers or the famous Defiant development patch designed by United States Air Force Top Gun artist Johnny Hawk for Doug Drexler's DS9 Technical manual.  The closer we get to February 13th the more ships that will be revealed as part of this bundle. Now you're probably wondering how much it's going to set you back for this bundle. Well, hopefully you're sitting down, not driving, and no where near any sharp objects.  The standard bundle, which includes 10 tier 6 ships, over 20 ship costume variants, including a new exclusive variant for each ship, all of the consoles and traits from previous versions of the ship, brand new traits, and 10 ship slots, is priced at 30,000 zen, with an introductory sale price of 19,500 zen. There is a premium bundle available, which includes everything we just mentioned, plus 10 master keys, 10 infinity R&D packs, 10 Enhanced Universal Tech Upgrades, 10 Phoenix prize packs, 100 Lobi, 1 Epic Phoenix Pize token, 10,000 Dilithium, and the exclusive title, “Legend of the Quadrants,” all for 45,000 zen, with an introductory price of 29,300 zen. If you're still conscious after that sticker shock, be sure to trek out the show notes for more details and to see the newly revealed ships. 10 Year Infographic Cryptic also released a fun infographic with some highlighted stats for the game. Of all accounts created, 41% are on PC, 33% are on Playstation 4, and 26% are on Xbox. There are 615 playable starships in the game. So far, close to 30 million tribbles have been bred. Captain Kurland “was here” over 62 million times, and Star Trek Online leeds episodic Star Trek with 183 playble episodes. That's 5 more than The Next Generation. The infographic also featured all of the Trek celebrities to voice characters in the game. All but a few voicing the same characters they played on television. Free Starfleet Uniform from Star Trek: Picard If you haven't already, be sure to claim your free 2399 Starfleet uniform in game. This week on Priority One --- We dive into Picard Premier Promp… and circumstance. Star Trek Online’s 10th Anniversary now live with missions, new ships, and new ways to spend your money!! Of course, in On Screen we reunite with old friends and talk about Star Trek Picard’s premiere episode: Remembrance…  And of course, we can’t sign off without sharing your incoming messages. Of course, as always, before we wrap up the show, we’ll open hailing frequencies for your incoming messages Let us know on social media like Facebook, Twitter, or by visiting our website! This Weeks Community Questions Are: CQ: What do you think Guinan has been up to since Star Trek: Nemesis? AND CQ: Did you enjoy the 10th anniversary episodes? Where do you think the Star Trek Online story is going now? TREK IT OUT by Shane Hoover Executive Shuffle at ViacomCBS It’s been a little less than two months since the formation of the new ViacomCBS, home to the Star Trek franchise. Cheek’s move comes as a bit of a surprise to many, given that he was promoted to the co-chair position only three months ago. It’s speculated that Cheeks is arriving to be groomed as a replacement for CBS CEO Joe Ianniello. It’s not unusual for corporate mergers to kick off a period of restructuring, so the changes aren’t really surprising. And while we can’t say what the shuffling at ViacomCBS will mean for Star Trek specifically, it certainly seems like the company has been putting its full weight behind the franchise with development and marketing efforts. With many Wall Street investment advisors listing ViacomCBS as a stock to watch for 2020, there’s plenty of reason to be optimistic that Trek’s future is secure. A Personal Invitation to Picard Season 2 Sir Patrick Stewart has teased invitations of a Season Two guest spot throughout the course of several interviewers this past week.  But if you’re a viewer of ABC TV’s “The View”, you may have seen by far the most touching invitation. Whoopi Goldberg, well known to Trekkies for her role as TNG’s Guinan, was moved near to tears by the invitation. She told the studio that Star Trek was “One of the great experiences of my life”, adding “I had the best time ever!” Picard Delta Popping Up If you’re a Trekkie in New York or Los Angeles, you had a special chance this past week to participate in the buzz of the show. A large stage emblazoned with the show’s title and a huge Starfleet delta was set up in each city for fans to get photo ops. In New York, the pop-up appeared in Times Square, and in LA it appeared in The Grove. If you were a lucky fan in LA, you might even have bumped into one of the show’s stars, Jonathan Del Arco, who continues his role as Hugh from TNG. The star posted a photo of himself and his dog at the Starfleet Delta, along with a caption of “I’m an actor but I’m also a fan... also Roxy was hoping to meet Number One.” There doesn’t seem to be a published schedule for the installation, so keep an eye on the @StarTrekCBS Twitter account to catch the Starfleet Delta when it lands somewhere near you. Chateau Picard Jean Luc wakes to the sound of songbirds and an enthusiastic greeting from Number One. Crossing the antique wood floors of the Chateau, he throws open the heavy curtains and gazes out across acres of wine grapes. The early morning sun sets a golden glow to the mists clinging to the hills of… Southern California’s Santa Ynez Valley?? Yes, Captains, that’s the truth behind the gorgeous filming of Star Trek Picard’s Chateau Picard winery. In the show, the family winery nestles in beautiful La Barre, France. In reality, the LA based film crew looked a little closer to home. So we’ve learned from a recent article published in Wine Spectator magazine. The magazine spoke to the general manager of the Sunstone Winery, Dave Moser, who said that the production team were looking for a location that resembled a real French chateau. The winery was a great fit, with the property’s villa built from architecture and pieces brought to the States from southern France. It should be quite a few interesting weeks if not months.” Star Trek Online and Gaming News by Anthony Cox Star Trek Online: Legacy Launches Star Trek Online’s Tenth Anniversary celebration is here with a brand new two part episode. Team up with Seven of Nine 12 years after the events of Star Trek Picard and bring Michael Burnham along for a series of trials that will span the game’s 10 year history. The action mostly takes place on or near the planet Excalbia, seen in the Original Series episode, “The Savage Curtain,” but through the Excalbian matter reorganizing abilities you’ll revisit several key moments in both Star Trek Online and Star Trek television. These episodes are a self proclaimed love letter to the past and future of Star Trek Online. We’re going to take a dive into all of the content released for the 10th anniversary, so if you haven’t had the chance to play along, you might have to save yourself from the spoil-pedos we’re about to fire. There are new captain’s traits for adapting your defenses and offenses in space and on the ground. Liberated Borg duty officers with interesting active duty abilities are also available. Borg technology kits frames and modules can give your captain all those fun Borg abilities we’ve seen in the television shows, and you can add to your arsenal with the Assimilated Plasma Weapons pack. Of course you’ll be able to complete your Borg look by checking out the Lobi store for the Borg Exoskeletal Frame for Borg costume and the Biological and Technological Distinctiveness Extractor weapon. The Borg Juggernaut comes with an innate ability, Plasma Disintegrator, which fires a massive plasma bolt at your target which explodes on contact dealing a devastating amount of plasma damage to everything nearby. Fun Fact: Any foe who comes into contact with this bolt or explosion will disintegrate when defeated instead of warp core breaching. For a full list of the lock box items and stats of the Borg ship, trek out the show notes. Other characters we’re going to see again, besides Picard! We’re back with another episode of The Star Trek Picard Cast! This time, this episode is exclusive to the Picard feed. In this episode, Ruthie and I discuss the other characters that are returning in Star Trek: Picard, besides Jean-Luc Picard himself. Thanks to Fred from the Netherlands for providing most of our pics! Who we know is returning in Star Trek: Picard At this point, we know of five other characters returning in Star Trek: Picard. Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) The first we’ll discuss is someone who doesn’t have a relationship with Picard, Seven of Nine, the ex-Borg from Star Trek: Voyager, played by Jeri Ryan. She was always a compelling character, and well-played, and we are both looking forward to seeing her most of all the characters announced. Jeri Ryan returning as Seven of Nine. Hugh (Jonathan Del Arco) Hugh was first seen in the TNG episode, “I, Borg”. He was a Borg drone who develops his own identity after being separated from the collective. We later see him in the episode Descent. If they are planning to feature the Borg in this series, bringing his character back is a good choice. Jonathan Del Arco returns as Hugh. William T. Riker (Jonathan Frakes) Riker was Picard’s First Officer on the Enterprise-D and E. He later became Captain on the USS Titan. This was one character that I thought they had to have back if they are going to do a show on Picard. They were a great team and it only makes sense for him to return.

We speculate on what they might be doing on the show. We also speculate on what other characters we think might also return to Picard, and what other characters we'd like to see return.

Welcome to the Introduction to The Star Trek Picard Cast! We’ve finally done it! Hello, and welcome to the first episode of The Star Trek Picard Cast! We bring you this introductory podcast episode to bring you our brand new podcast on Star Trek: Picard! Of course, if you have been listening along to us on The Star Trek Discovery Podcast, we probably don’t need an introduction, but we are Brian Meloche and Ruthie Rink, two long-time Star Trek fans since we were children in the ’70s (Brian) and ’80s (Ruthie). About Us… We’re not going to bore you about us… but you can listen to us talk about our Star Trek fandom. We know that many of you don’t know us from our other Star Trek podcast, The Star Trek Discovery Podcast, so we talk a little about that show, and why we love it, but our love of Trek goes back to the beginning, and we know our Trek very well. Whether you like the show or won’t give it the time of day, we think you will like our take on Trek. You won’t hear it on this episode, but our listeners are a cornerstone of our podcasts here at Talk Through Media, and you will hear as much or more fan interaction on this Trek podcast than you may have ever heard before! What we know about Star Trek: Picard… We talk about the broad strokes of what we know about this show, which isn’t a lot, but we do know a few things. It begins in 2399, and centers around Jean-Luc Picard, who is no longer in Starfleet. We believe he was involved in a rescue attempt to save the people of Romulus. Data will appear in the show, although we know that Data died in Star Trek: Nemesis. The android predecessor to Data, B4, could also play into the show; both roles would be played by Brent Spiner. One of the characters is a cyberneticist, so we believe she may be constructing new androids or involved in trying to reconstruct Data. We also know that the Borg play heavily in the story. Returning are Jonathan Del Arco, who played the liberated Borg, Hugh, in episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation; and Jeri Ryan, in the role of Seven of Nine made famous on Star Trek: Voyager. Of course, Picard was taken by the Borg and made into Locutus, nearly assimilating the Federation and destroying their way of life. It makes sense that the Borg play a central plot element of this show. We also know Picard’s long-time first officer, William T. Riker, and Counselor Deanna Troi return in the show, although they are not members of the main cast. Still, it will be good to see them again and find out what has been going on in their lives. Got any feedback for us? It’s going to be another three months until we have the first episode, although the sixth and final Short Trek of this season is supposed to be a tie-in to this show. Until then, we may have more trailers, and we’ll probably discuss some of the relevant Star Trek films and, of course, Star Trek: The Next Generation. What do you think about the trailers we have seen so far? Please leave your feedback for us! One of the best ways to submit feedback is on our Facebook group. You can also send us an email to picardcast@talkthroughmedia.com or call our voicemail at 216-232-6146. Or, reply to us on Twitter! Subscribe and Support!
