it’s been a few months since i broke up with my therapist and i’ve been doing pretty well. really well, actually. there are some things that it would be nice if they were going a little differently but none of them are high anxiety situations. everything has been manageable. i’ve been able to check in with people when i have something to think through. i don’t feel like i’m holding too much in - just enough. i’m not feeling too stressed. my days are full and i’m having a nice time.i’m not sure how to account for it all. like, i want an explination. why. but maybe that’s all it is. i ride this moment and if things change i adjust. and that will be fine.i wore white pants all day yesterday. i can do anything.DOWNLOAD/STREAM RECORDING00:00 (intro by omar)00:20 House Deposit “Cruise Control” Reward For Effort03:15 LAPS “Not Often” Soon Not Often In It05:53 little champion “i saw yr boat” Curiosity08:50 Crissy Bell “A Little Love” Weakness13:25 Alpha Error “Soft Boycott” i16:29 ALIEN NOSEJOB “Cabanossi” HC45 7"18:09 Noxeema “Red Line” NOXEEMA19:30 Eggy “Bar Fred” Billy22:02 Sipper “N.J.F.D.” Adam Driver EP24:11 Buni Hate Mail “Soup” Chain Mail27:37 Lande Hekt “Gigantic Disappointment” Gigantic Disappointment30:39 PYNKIE “Shrinking Violet” neoteny33:00 Lovelet “Tusks” couple’s fight night36:05 Sunglaciers “Through the Screen” Foreign Bodies38:06 Warsh “Brat” Burning Urge EP39:38 Ennui Trust “Pay It Forward” Ennui Trust42:29 Caroline Says “Smoke and Mirrors” Ohio River EP45:04 Sylvia Wrath “Softy” Saint Catherine48:25 Your Heart Breaks “Wesley Crusher (feat. sent $$$ this week to the Institute for the Development of Human Arts in NYC.idha-nyc.orgThis past week I attended their panel about Decarcerating Care and it was really very good. And I’m excited to continue learning. You can watch the full two hour event and explore all the resources referenced by the panelists on their website.More about the event:As the movement for racial justice gains momentum in the United States, there has been a lot of conversation around how to divest funding from the police and reallocate it to mental health care. Although the notion to replace “cops” with “care” is well-intentioned, psychiatric survivors, their family members, and advocates are well acquainted with the oppressive nature of the mental health system. Too often, both mainstream and progressive group discussions immediately revert to a model of “caring” for “the mentally ill” in hospitals and other confined settings that are functionally no different than the jails and prisons that they propose to replace.IDHA seeks to advance a discussion of alternatives to policing and criminal justice that is rooted in the lived experience of mental health service users and survivors. In this context, it is crucial to center the particular ways in which psychiatry has been used to exert control over Black bodies, not unlike the prison system. From the historically racist roots of diagnosis; to the ways in which the pain of racial oppression is erased or made invisible due to the subjective nature of psychiatric diagnosis; to the significantly higher rates at which Black communities are diagnosed with “serious mental illness,” it’s clear that replacing policing with more mental health care is not the answer.DOWNLOAD RECORDINGsubscribe to the podcast here: http://feeds.feedburner.com/5432fun(intro by omar)houseplants “Bloom In View” HouseplantsMARBLED EYE “DIRT” EP 2Mane “White Knuckles” Alpha Femaletunic “Eye Contact” BossPaddlefish “My Place To Be” RefrigeratorSEED BOMB “Rooftops” Split w/Baby Tony & the TeeniesEnergy Slime “Cool Ship II” New DimensionalHumanly “I’ll never be old” My peak was a molehillEnamel “Parasitic” Complete The LieRipe mangos “Gophers Teeth” Cutting Clear BlueRomantic States “Take My Hand and Run” Take My Hand and Runbelieveh “Tommorrows Vain Imagining” Moon Beam BabySwanning “April Rain” Split w/ MagafloraMegaflora “Lonely” Split w/ SwanningTwelve gardens “lone fir” tape 3Hop Hop “Will We Overcome?” Mondo’s CollectionCONDITIONER “(we’re living in a) fashion void” Suggested UsePale Kids “St. James” Holy MessMadame Headdress “Garden” LipstickKohinoorgasm “War Empire” Split w/ Wizard ApprenticeWizard Apprentice “Keep It Cool” Split w/ Kohinoorgasm
