Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney ... Perversions began in the church at Ephesis during the life of Paul. Paul explains this to us. I Timothy 1 1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope; 2 Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. 3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, 4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. 5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: 6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; 7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. Acts 20 (Paul speaking to the Elders of the church at Ephesus.) 17 And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church. 26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. 27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. 28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which HE hath purchased with HIS own blood. 29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Antichrist is already here speaking in churches that say, "Jesus is Lord". When Jesus returns, HE will judge the antichrist preachers and their churches and their denominations who love their church more than they love the Holy Scriptures. 2 Thessalonians 2 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day (when Jesus returns) shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 1982 God said to me: "This falling away are not people leaving the churches. This falling away are the churches leaving the scriptures." 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of HIS mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of HIS coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Who is Your First Love? Today Pastor Jeff shares what a life lived for others looks like and challenges us to honor God by serving others.
What is the greatest commandment? Today Pastor Jeff talks about the command Jesus gave to us in the book of Matthew and how it allows us to pursue Jesus.
In Ephesians Chapter 3 we're in a transitional point in the book. Verses 14-22 Paul is sharing how he is praying for the church of Ephesis. As we study these verses we see how the word "know" is not just a intellectual know, but an experiential know. We left asking ourselves "What is holding me back from experiencing God's love for me today?"
The gospel of Jesus opposes Idolatry. There is a two fold challenge to this text - what is the idolatry that you need to reject for the sake of the kingdom? Does your life, your faith, does it rub this world the wrong way? Its both interesting and important that it isn’t Paul specifically that is causing the stir here in Ephesis - it is the Christians - the movement of the gospel in all of these people.
Paul writes a continues letter to the church in Ephesis, and reveals God's Marvelous Plan for Gentiles, as well as Prays for God's People.
As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God's work—which is by faith. I Timothy 1:3-4 NIV. Paul needed to go on to Macedonia but Timothy was to stay in Ephesis and teach truth when truth might not have been what the people wanted to hear.

The Church in Ephesis had grown mature in the Word, but it had fallen short in its love for people.

In Part 2 of the series A Match Made in Heaven, Pastor Zach Pope describes the role of the Christ-like husband. Ephesians 5:25-30. Paul's letter to the church at Ephesis addresses a number of questions about the nature of the husband's relationship to the wife. The overall theme emphasizes that life decisions need not be difficult and complicated for followers of the teachings of Jesus Christ. Indeed, life is much clearer with the guidelines of Jesus.
Hope Fellowship Church May 19 – 25, 2019 ========== Acts Part 11: Guilty by Association The Church... Not a human organization, not a building formed by human hands... But the workmanship of God...This has always been His idea. ========== Acts 19:1-7 And it happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the inland country and came to Ephesus. There he found some disciples. And he said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" And they said, "No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit." And he said, "Into what then were you baptized?" They said, "Into John's baptism." And Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus." On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying. There were about twelve men in all. 1. Disciples by Association? Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. Acts 19:8-10 And he entered the synagogue and for three months spoke boldly, reasoning and persuading them about the kingdom of God. But when some became stubborn and continued in unbelief, speaking evil of the Way before the congregation, he withdrew from them and took the disciples with him, reasoning daily in the hall of Tyrannus. This continued for two years, so that all the residents of Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks. Psalms 95:1-7 Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness, Acts 19:11-14 And God was doing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were carried away to the sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them. Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists undertook to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, "I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul proclaims." Seven sons of a Jewish high priest named Sceva were doing this. 2. The Miracle in a Miracle is the Source of the Miracle. Death --> Life --> Death Matthew 16:24-26 Then Jesus told his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? It’s not just that we want things, it’s that we want things our way. John 4:34 Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work. Acts 19:15-16 But the evil spirit answered them, "Jesus I know, and Paul I recognize, but who are you?" And the man in whom was the evil spirit leaped on them, mastered all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. Ephesians 6:11-13 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Jesus, I know (to know) - Paul, I recognize (to be acquainted with) - But who am I? Ephesians 1:15-23 For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all. Acts 19:17-20 And this became known to all the residents of Ephesus, both Jews and Greeks. And fear fell upon them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was extolled. Also many of those who were now believers came, confessing and divulging their practices. And a number of those who had practiced magic arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted the value of them and found it came to fifty thousand pieces of silver. So the word of the Lord continued to increase and prevail mightily. 3. Only God can take a debacle and turn it into a Gospel Miracle. Acts 19:21-27 Now after these events Paul resolved in the Spirit to pass through Macedonia and Achaia and go to Jerusalem, saying, "After I have been there, I must also see Rome." And having sent into Macedonia two of his helpers, Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia for a while. About that time there arose no little disturbance concerning the Way. For a man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought no little business to the craftsmen. These he gathered together, with the workmen in similar trades, and said, "Men, you know that from this business we have our wealth. And you see and hear that not only in Ephesus but in almost all of Asia this Paul has persuaded and turned away a great many people, saying that gods made with hands are not gods. And there is danger not only that this trade of ours may come into disrepute but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis may be counted as nothing, and that she may even be deposed from her magnificence, she whom all Asia and the world worship." The Gospel not only changes lives, but it ultimately alters culture. Generosity You can give online by clicking the link below. Preached on February 3, 2019 Scripture: Isaiah 43:8-13 Psalm 139:1-9 Ephesians 3:14-21 John 17:22-26 Much of the New Testament is letters written to churches in specific cities. (For instance, Paul wrote a letter to the Christians in Ephesis, or the Ephesians.) The authors would write to encourage churches that were either being persecuted, or were suffering, or getting tired of following Jesus. We’ll have several people come visit us in Madison and encourage us in our first year as a church plant. We’re calling these sermons “Letters to the Madisonians” to reflect the practice of the early church. Today's message is from Ben Cunningham, the pastor of a church plant in New Orleans, and Fr. Scott's brother.
The Seven Churches - Ephesis, a sermon from Revelation by Gary Truloff about the church at Ephesis
Paul writing to the church at Ephesis talks about the relationship that we can all have with God. Living for God was never intended to be something that was hard to do. The biggest battle we have with living for God is the battle with our own flesh. We are all saved by grace. Some believe that we live by grace. That is not what the bible says, it says we live by faith. Faith is the conviction that God is who He says He is and will do what He says He will do. God wants to bless us, not because we deserve it, but because we are his child. The world believes that the blessings of God to His people represents His grace. That is not grace, but the blessing of being part of the family. Grace is not a license to sin. Grace may have gotten us through the door, but once we go through the door, we are part of the family and walk in faith. God loves us in spite of our shortcomings and blesses us because we part of His family. Along with the privilege of being part of God's family comes great responsibility. Who is really worthy of being part of God's family? The word used in the Greek for worth refers to the market place where goods were weighed on a balance beam. The word means literally to balance. Paul offers advise for maintaining life's balance: lowliness, meekness, long suffering, forbearing.
The letters to the seven churches begin, starting with the church in Ephesis. A church enduring and working against false teachers, the Ephesians have become a dull church not operating with the the love for Jesus as they had at the first. The warning is to us as well: Are we serving God from duty ... Read moreRevelation 1:19-2:7 – Serving From Duty or Grateful Love
