What characteristics make up a good father to you? Chances are your father didn't perfectly exemplify those characteristics. All of us have had different experiences with fathers that shape how we see God. In this message we'll discuss how God shows his perfect love for us.
Dig In QuestionsAs a recap of the text we covered on Sunday, read all of Luke 15.1) What was one thing that stood out about this week's message?2) In Luke 15, Jesus tells three parables that reveal God's love for those that are lost, then found. For those who have never wandered, it can be challenging to wrestle with the reality that Heaven rejoices more over those who are lost, then found than those who are not currently wandering at all. What does this reveal about God's character?3) In Luke 15:20, the son decides to return home, and when he does, he finds that the father is running towards him and then presents him with a handful of gifts. How has God run towards you despite the ways that you have sinned or wandered?4) Although the father was pleased to see his son return, the other son who had not wandered is frustrated at the grace, love, and mercy that his brother received. In light of the brother's response, do you know of anyone wandering that you can reach out to show love to?5) How can we pray for you?

In this series, we've been reading the story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15) from the perspective of the various characters in the parable. This week, Pastor Jon takes a closer look at the characteristics of the Father's compassionate, scandalous love. This, Jesus says, is the kind of love God has for those who come running back to Him!
Happy Father's Day, from Clyde Christian Bible Church! David hasn't proven himself to be a very good dad. But today's story of David and his estranged son Absalom reminds us of a couple stories about our heavenly Father, Who longs for reconciliation rather than wrath, and Who protects every hair on our head.Try not to get to distracted by the description of Absalom. Or our friend Jelle.

Got hired, quit my jobs, packed up my new house, and moved to NC. The important thing about any parent is the love they have for their children. It's the unconditional kind of love God has for us as well. That's what we talk about in this episode of The Untidy Methodist.

A new MP3 sermon from Bible Believers Baptist Church is now available on SermonAudio with the following details: Title: Behold the Father's Love Speaker: Dr. David Peacock, Pastor Broadcaster: Bible Believers Baptist Church Event: Sunday - AM Date: 6/20/2021 Bible: 1 John 4 Length: 52 min.
And he said, “There was a man who had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.' And he divided his property between them. Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living. And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything. “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”' And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.' But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.' And they began to celebrate. “Now his older son was in the field, and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. And he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and sound.' But he was angry and refused to go in. His father came out and entreated him, but he answered his father, ‘Look, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!' And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.'”
Bro Texas Young reminded us of how great the Father's love is.

This Father's Day, Pastor Ronnie Johnson delivers a message on the Love of the Father. For many of us, we know lots of information about the Father's love, but find it hard to believe that this love is available to us unconditionally and at all times. Pastor Ronnie shares about what it looks like to progress from simply knowing of the Father's love to truly believing the Father's love for us personally.
