We finally made this one up as we were once again joined by Darnell and Brain Moore, brothers, who represent Black Lives Matter in our little corner of Appalachia. The first show was a great time and conversation, but the audio file completely vanished, so we made sure to do this again because it's a necessary discussion that needs to be had...over and over. Brian and Darnell are both very active in our community, and much like us are working towards bettering our community, so they have earned the right to be heard and we were glad to offer that platform, even if we disagree...which we did. However, it's face to face conversations and leading by example that will help us overcome certain barriers that have been placed in front of all of us. In part one we talked about BLM and local issues, Critical Race Theory, public schools, the Civil War, Confederate Statues, progressivism, and more. Born and based in Derby, Dr Corey Mwamba's commitment to jazz and improvised music in Britain and Ireland drives all aspects of his work, whether through making, presenting, promoting, or researching music.Corey predominantly plays vibraphone; and also plays dulcimer and uses audio processing software. Corey Mwamba is recognised as a highly creative improviser and composer working across a wide range of jazz and contemporary music. Mwamba's distinctive approach and tone is instantly recognisable in any context: a potent blend of pure sound, highly melodic phrases and ethereal textures; barely whispered chords and ear-piercing robotic screams. Corey won a PRSF/Jerwood Foundation Take Five artist development award in 2007; was short-listed for the Innovation category in the BBC Jazz Awards in 2008; and received nominations for "Rising Star on Vibraphone" the last nine DownBeat annual International Critics' Polls.Soraya -Be Convinced! The 2021 According 2 Hip-Hop Yearbook is ready to be delivered at your front door!Black & White Version: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09XZ86CL6Color Version: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09XZMF3FHDigital Version: https://tinyurl.com/mrxnzt22Documenting Hip-Hop culture matters. In a world where print media has seemed to have taken a hit, it is still imperative that we document our culture in physical form for historical purposes. The digital world moves so quickly that many pieces of history can be lost in the social media's news cycle or just simply edited over time. According 2 Hip-Hop has worked diligently to resolve this issue and the answer comes in the form of our Hip-Hop Yearbook. Hip-Hop history needs to be documented in real-time to highlight the entirety of Hip-Hop for the whole calendar year. Year by year we will document our history as we develop a library of Hip-Hop History that can always go back to our book collection and check out. With a start of a new decade, 2021 became perfect to start this tremendous journey. The yearbook includes Top 20 Hip-Hop Songs Of The Year, Top 20 Rap Verses Of The Year, Top 20 Hip-Hop Albums Of The Year, and more. The James McMahon Music PodcastThis is the podcast of the UK music journalist James McMahon.
