Send us a textThe galaxy far, far away has never felt so close to home. Andor strips away the mystical trappings of Star Wars to deliver something revolutionary: a raw, unflinching look at ordinary people pushed to extraordinary measures under the crushing weight of Imperial rule. From its opening moments, Andor establishes itself as something entirely different. We journey alongside Cassian, brilliantly portrayed by Diego Luna, as a chance encounter with corporate security officers spirals into a life-changing path toward rebellion. The beauty of this series lies in its patience—it doesn't rush to spectacular set pieces but instead builds its world methodically, letting us feel every oppressive regulation, every injustice, every small act of defiance that eventually ignites into something bigger. What makes this show truly exceptional is how it redefines heroism in the Star Wars universe. These aren't Jedi or chosen ones destined for greatness—they're damaged, desperate people making dangerous choices. The heist sequence culminating with the Eye of Aldani stands as one of the most visually stunning and emotionally complex moments in Star Wars history, revealing characters whose motivations span from idealism to revenge to simple survival. Stellan Skarsgård's Luthen Rael embodies this complexity perfectly, his antiquities dealer facade masking a revolutionary willing to sacrifice everything—including his soul—for the cause.Andor achieves something remarkable by working within the confines of established canon. By showing us the messy birth of rebellion years before A New Hope, it deepens our understanding of the entire saga. This isn't just great Star Wars—it's great television, period. Whether you're a lifelong fan or new to the galaxy, Andor offers something profound: a reminder that revolutions aren't born from heroes or mystical powers, but from ordinary people who simply decide they can no longer live under tyranny. The rebellion begins here. Cassian infiltrates Ghorman under the alias “Varian Skye,” playing the long game while the Empire manipulates the narrative with a propaganda machine led by Director Krennic. Meanwhile, Mon Mothma walks a dangerous political tightrope, and Saw Gerrera's tragic origin story adds emotional weight to his radicalism. The Geeks also unpacks the brutal, emotionally charged moment when Bix takes justice into her own hands, the devastating loss of a key rebel, and the tense power dynamics brewing between Dedra, Syril, and the always-imperious Eedy. These episodes dig deep into the cost of rebellion — physically, psychologically, and morally — and we're here to break it all down.***The views expressed in this show are those of the hosts and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of the United States Air Force, the Department of Defense, or the U.S. Government.***

In our podcast review of Andor Season 2, Episodes 4–6, THE HIVE dives into the masterful storytelling, political tension, and character complexity that make this the best Star Wars since...well, Andor Season 1. These episodes blend heist-thriller pacing with meditations on loyalty, sacrifice, and rebellion. While the cast shines—especially Diego Luna, Adria Arjona, and Stellan Skarsgård—it's writer Tony Gilroy who stands as the true hero. His razor-sharp dialogue and slow-burn tension elevate Andor with a near-perfect blend of world-building, suspense, and surprising emotional depth. The Rogue Ones: A Star Wars Andor Podcast is back for season two, and so is series creator and showrunner Tony Gilroy. In the first episode of the revived podcast, host Mike DeAngelo and The Playlist's Editor-In-Chief Rodrigo Perez break down the first three episodes of Andor Season 2 — which hit Disney+ this week — before welcoming Gilroy to reflect on the final season's big themes, major tonal shift, and what it means to build a revolution brick by brick.Created by Tony Gilroy and starring Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, "Andor" is a prequel to "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" (which Gilroy co-wrote and famously helped reshape during reshoots). Set five years before the events of Rogue One, the show focuses on the origins of the Rebellion and how ordinary people — not just Jedi or Chosen Ones — stand up against oppression. Season two picks up a year later in the first three episodes and jumps one year ahead with each block of three afterwards, leading directly to the beginning of "Rogue One" by the end. (read our review of season two here)
