There's more than a few photos kicking around of Brendan Gallagher, Andrei Markov and Tomas Plekanec all together on the Habs. They were all on the team from 2012 when Gallagher got called up to Markov's departure at the end of the 2016-2017 season. All three of those guys played over 900 games for the bleu-blanc-rouge. I feel like only Markov has a real chance of having his number up in the rafters and even then I wouldn't consider it a lock. All the same Brendan Gallagher is certainly a player who I think most Habs fans will remember fondly for a very long time. Pretty sure it's the right time to move on, the team is younger and poor Gally is just not going to be a part of whatever the final form of this roster looks like. Still I can be a little sad about a guy who has often been described as “the heart and soul” of the team no longer wearing the CH. Plus during the pandemic he did some genuinely funny tiktok videos. Even if they're just lip-synching to scenes from TV shows that's still more personally than we see from 99% of hockey players. He posted one when they were going into the weird hockey bubble set to the Hunger Games theme song that I can't find and that was extremely funny. Anyways, apparently screw worms are coming to America this summer. I guess look it up on the internet if you want to get extra grossed out. Scott and Jon both watched Ron Howard's 2015 movie about Moby Dick In The Heart of the Sea and it seemed that they both were pretty mixed on the whole thing. Finally, Scott still really, really hates Andor. You'd think it starred Matt Damon or something. Over on Garbage Time we talk about how crazy it is that Marvel and DC still work month to month and pay artists and writers by the page when they're now controlled by monstrous entities like Disney and Warner Bros. We then discover that there is SO MUCH MORE Walking Dead than you think there is. If you would like to show your support and head over to Patreon and subscribe at the 9ES Deluxe tier to listen to this and all past episodes of Garbage Time that would be appreciated. Hey Comrade Bobs! We're diving into the Soviet side of the For All Mankind universe with Star City Season 1, Episodes 1 & 2 — “The Eyes” and “A Bear on a Chain.”This one's a slow-burn political thriller with a definite Andor vibe — gritty, paranoid, and full of tension. We follow Irina's origin story as she navigates the KGB machine, young Sergei catching the Chief Designer's eye, and Belikova's high-stakes moon landing that goes sideways in spectacular fashion (yes, there's a bear). The forced marriage plot, the constant surveillance, and that bleak-but-beautiful Soviet aesthetic all hit hard.We break down the stark contrast to the American space program, the paranoia baked into every scene, and why this feels like a fresh (and very different) chapter in the FAM universe.Drop your thoughts at happyvalleyfam@gmail.com — we read every one!See you next week, Bobs!
Yeah, yeah, we're talking about Rogue One again. Cassian said we had to.But this time we dug up some fresh, alternate angles and deep-dives that managed to broaden our already sky-high opinion of the film.Today's root beer is Goldmine.Intro and Outro music by Stockmusic331 on Pond5Send us Fan Mail

Seven years after The Rise of Skywalker, the saga finally got off the couch, and what it brought back was a tin-canned dad, a green gremlin, and a teenage Hutt with a glandular disorder. The Film Board lands split right down the middle, mostly in the affectionate way. Everyone agrees the adventures of Grogu are the heart of the thing. Everyone also agrees the plot is thin enough to read a newspaper through, and that this plays less like a movie than like the best three episodes of a Mandalorian season nobody got to make.Pete, JJ, and Ocean are joined by Matthew Fox, host of the Star Wars Generations podcast, and the table works through all of it: whether a jacked, English-speaking Rotta the Hutt is the dumbest swing or the most heroic one (Ocean is buying, Pete is not), why Sigourney Weaver got cast in a role that forgot to be a character, the Martin Scorsese cameo that weirdly lands, and the swamp sequence where Grogu plays caretaker to a poisoned Mando and the whole room finally forgets it is watching a puppet. Ocean makes the case for television as the franchise's natural home, Pete keeps glancing over his shoulder at Andor, and somebody floats the idea of just letting Matthew run Lucasfilm. The scores are in, and the panel landed in a tight cluster. Ludwig Göransson's score gets the home-run vote. The swole Hutt gets the side-eye.Connect with the ShowThe Film Board is part of the Next Reel Family of Film Podcasts. THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU sprechen. Selamat tinggal. Rocket Beans wird unterstützt von carVertical. Learn more about your ad choices. What happens when a video game stops playing by the rules? Doug and returning guest Noah (Gunchpot) go deep on the most creative, bizarre, and genuinely brilliant video game mechanics ever designed — from games that fake-crash your console to math games that secretly turn into space jail simulators. Games covered include Shenmue (the 1999 Dreamcast game that made boredom part of the experience by giving you an actual forklift job), Seaman (raise a fish with a human face that insults you, narrated by Leonard Nimoy), Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (the GameCube horror game that fake-deleted your save file and muted your TV on purpose), Metal Gear Solid (Psycho Mantis reads your memory card and comments on your other games), Facade (a 2005 AI couples therapy simulator where typing the word "melon" gets you thrown out of the apartment), Frog Fractions (a browser math game that secretly turns into a completely different game — then hid its sequel inside an entirely separate game for years), Doki Doki Literature Club (the anime dating sim that deletes characters from your hard drive as part of its horror), Disco Elysium (where your skills literally argue with you and you can fail a check just trying to get out of bed), and WarioWare (five-second micro games with one-word instructions and zero hand-holding). Plus: QWOP, Baby Steps, Superhot VR, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, I Am Bread, and more. Before all that: Noah is working through 800 of 1,000 movies on his Letterboxd watchlist, watched Ghostbusters and Jurassic Park for the first time this year, and is deep in the David Lynch rabbit hole. Doug's dog Bruno had a very eventful Mother's Day morning involving a rabbit, a shovel, and a crow. Then it's time for The Verdict — the Letterboxd review guessing game. This round covers The Mummy, Devil Wears Prada 2, Nosferatu, Longlegs, Conclave, Barbie, Glass Onion, and Andor. This week's recommendations: Noah: Casino Royale. One of the best action films ever made, full stop. Doug: Potion Seller's debut album Buzzard is out now. Go listen. Brainsynthesizer.com for merch and physical copies. “HE WAS ALL OF US.“Hello everyone! We are back to talk about another film that may have aged a little better than we hoped, and we might all be worse off for that. We are talking about 2005's V For Vendetta, directed by James McTeague, starring Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving, written by one of the podcast's favorite sibling duos, the Wachowski sisters! On this episode we talk about just how relevant the film feels, especially while living in America. In the world of V, we are living in a fascist, police state, ravaged by a viral outbreak, with state sponsored media spreading fear and propaganda, an authoritarian government seizing personal freedoms while the oligarch class is protected and reaping all the benefits of their crimes against humanity. An all too familiar world for anyone not living under a rock. Even though the original Alan Moore graphic novel was written in response to Margaret Thatcher's Britain in the 1980's, and the Wachowski's screenplay was written perhaps in response to the 2nd (or rather, 3rd) Bush Administration, perhaps the heart of the story is what it takes to survive these oppressive regimes.Speaking of Alan Moore, we talk about why the acclaimed graphic novel writer distanced himself from the film. When the frequent Wachowski collaborator and producer Alan Silver claimed Moore gave the film his blessing, which he did not, Moore asked for his name to be removed from the credits. Even still, Moore rejected the script itself and when we examine the differences between the film and source material we can see why. Both the graphic novel and film can be seen as separate, complimentary stories, but are so vastly difference that we can't really say it's a “good adaptation,” despite being fond of both. Listen to the full episode for more on this!We also talk about what the Wachowskis bring to the film. It wasn't directed by them, but by their assistant director from the Matrix Trilogy, James McTeague. Still, we can still feel their influence in what segments get special attention, the montages, and how we experience time and how everything is connected.Putting this film together, with who was involved, who was cast, when it was filmed, where it was filmed.. there are so many connections and references that we don't even get into all of it. Despite being a little sillier in some places, more digestible than something as heavy and poignant as Andor (which Austin HIGHLY recommends,) the film delivers some moments that may never be forgot. You can listen to this episode ANYWHERE you get your podcasts! You don't have to go to Spotify or Apple! If you don't see our show on your podcast preference of choice, just DM us on our socials and we will get right on it!
Welcome to Multiverse News, your source for information about all your favorite fictional universes.Kenneth Branagh, who directed 2011's Thor for the MCU, recently spoke about his willingness to return to direct the character again if asked, saying, "Part of me would love to finish my relationship with that character. I'd always wanted to do more and indeed had a couple of ideas, more in the territory of James Mangold's brilliant Logan. I would love to see Chris Hemsworth and the others have their own individual final story that takes Thor into a glorious twilight.”A full-length trailer for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey debuted on Tuesday, providing a more in-depth look at the film. Starring a cast of A-List talent, Matt Damon plays the main role of Odysseus who is trying to get home after the Trojan War as he wades through myths and legends to do so. Additionally, Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams, who starred in the original 1999 found-footage hit, are set to serve as executive producers, as are the first movie's directing team of Eduardo Sánchez, Daniel Myrick and Gregg Hale.On Tuesday, Hulu dropped a surprise prequel episode of The Bear titled 'Gary' ahead of its season 5 debut this summer. The hour long episode follows Richie played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Mikey played by Jon Bernthal on a trip to Gary, Indiana, before the events of the main series. Ari Aster has set his next film titled Scapegoat which will be produced by A24. Although plot details are currently under wraps, Scarlett Johansson has closed a deal to star in the film.New Line has unveiled the first trailer for Evil Dead Burn, the latest installment in its classic horror franchise Evil Dead, which is slated for release in theaters on July 10.

SUMMARYJacob and Evan break down the explosive finale of Maul: Shadow Lord, focusing on Darth Vader's terrifying arrival, Maul's long-term manipulation strategy, and Devon's emotional turn toward the dark side. Rather than centering purely on lightsaber action, the discussion dives into the psychology behind fear, revenge, grief, and corruption. The episode explores how Maul ultimately succeeds without truly defeating Vader, using Daki's death and Devon's pain to gain influence and control. The hosts also compare this portrayal of Vader to other Star Wars appearances, arguing this may be one of the strongest depictions of him outside the original trilogy. The conversation expands into Star Wars storytelling as a whole, discussing where the series ranks among Clone Wars, Rebels, Andor, and Revenge of the Sith, while also examining how music, visuals, and pacing elevated the finale into one of the most emotionally intense Star Wars stories in years.KEYWORDSDarth Vader Maul finaleMaul Shadow Lord breakdownDevon dark side theoryStar Wars finale analysisDarth Vader horror scenesCrimson Dawn explainedMaul vs Vader discussionStar Wars psychologyRevenge of the Sith comparisonsClone Wars vs Maul Shadow LordStar Wars character manipulationDevon Darth Talon theoryTIMESTAMPS00:00:01 - Why this finale made Darth Vader feel unstoppable00:00:42 - Jacob and Evan react to Episodes 9 and 1000:02:05 - Full recap of the finale and Maul's manipulation plan00:03:25 - Comedy ad break and “Dead Dads Club” joke00:04:47 - Initial reactions and favorite moments from the finale00:05:23 - Maul's manipulation of Daki and Devon explained00:06:50 - Icarus' sacrifice and the best action scenes00:09:07 - The incredible Inquisitor entrance sequence00:10:48 - Best visual shots and cinematic moments in the finale00:12:02 - Horror-style Vader entrance and Mandalorian deaths00:13:22 - Ranking Maul: Shadow Lord against other Star Wars stories00:20:13 - Maul manipulating Devon through dreams and the Force00:22:06 - Devon potentially becoming Darth Talon theory00:23:12 - Will Devon return to the light side?00:26:04 - Why Daki's death shocked the hosts00:30:21 - How knowing Star Wars canon affects tension in prequels00:33:32 - Lawson survival theory and Devon's future00:38:21 - Starkiller and Force Unleashed references explained00:40:15 - Musical callbacks to Revenge of the Sith and Duel of the Fates00:42:42 - Why Vader's appearance exceeded expectations00:44:46 - The psychology of why Vader feels terrifying00:49:01 - Fallen Order comparisons and “run away from Vader” energy00:51:00 - Best portrayal of Vader outside the original trilogy00:57:37 - Vader's theatrical intimidation tactics analyzed01:02:15 - Predictions for Crimson Dawn and Season 201:04:46 - Was Daki right to reject the dark side?

Kicking off May of 2026 with a perfectly timed episode releasing on May 4th, Emily aka Imagination.Em on Instagram returns to talk Star Wars and Cosplay. May the 4th Be With You! It's been nearly 4 years since Emily was on with her original episode, but we get to catch up and blend two topics together. Star Wars and Cosplay. The first half of the episode definitely leans more Star Wars, as we talk about the shows that have released since 2022. We discuss Skeleton Crew, The Acolyte, and Andor. Emily talks about the experience of attending the Andor Season 2 premiere, and we discuss Andor as it ties into current political situations today. We talk about the upcoming Mandalorian and Grogu movie, and Emily makes her best pitch for what she'd do if Dave Filoni asked her to create a Star Wars property. Then, we're on to Cosplay, as you may know Emily for her viral Moana Fett cosplay from 4 years ago. We talk about how it's been as a Cosplayer, from upgrading her Moana Fett look, to doing Mo Dameron, Mara Jade, joining the Droidsmiths Union, and making a Grogulorian cosplay, to name a few. We talk about her relationship with other cosplayers in the fandom, as well as creators that she works with. Emily also reflects back on her time as a Cosplayer, and we talk about what she could be working on for the future. They also take some wild swings at what might be in store for a season 3 and lay out some theoretical concepts for the Red Monarch spin-off show. Then, The Godzilla Project [01:02:34] RPG concludes with an avalanche of dice rolls as Director Neil finds out how well his fake movie, Godzilla: Awakening, does with critics, fans, Beetle Baragon popcorn bucket sales, and at the box office.
