This episode we head over to EPCOT to experience a Summer 2018 show Guardians of the Galaxy – Awesome Mix Live!.  This show is not listed in the guide map but the Walt Disney World website describes it in the following way: Attention Earthlings and aliens—join Star-Lord and Gamora for a cosmic concert sure to send you to the moon and back!  As this is a show, there are no age or height requirements and there is also no thrill level listed. Before we rock out, here are five fast facts about Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Live at Epcot 1. The show was announced by Disney on April 25, 2018 and had its opening performance on June 9, 2018 and continued though August 19, 2018 2. The venue for this show is the American Garden Theatre which is in World Showcase, directly across from The American Adventure. 3.  The storyline for the show is that Star-Lord brokered a deal that allowed Mandarin musicians to bring their culture to EPCOT, a park known for celebrating different cultures. 4.  The Alien Band from Xandar featured in the show consists of guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, trumpet, saxophone a lead singer and two back up singers. 5.  Guardians of the Galaxy characters Star-Lord, Gamora and Groot make appearances during the show. Star-Lord and Gamora take guests on a musical journey through the cosmos in the Guardians of the Galaxy – Awesome Mix Live! show at Epcot. Featuring hits from Star-Lord’s Awesome Mixtapes, the show really functions as sort of pre-show to the pre-show that will be in the new attraction. “Recent events have brought our interesting planet to the attention of Xandar, capital of the Nova Empire”.  Star Lord has identified “Epcot” as a cultural epicenter of our planet, and as part of an outreach program, Xandar has sent cultural ambassadors to be the first to share Xandar’s extra-terrestrial cultures with us.  Music is an important part of Xandaran History, so to be the first representatives Xandar has identified the finest and bright artist to share the harmonious songs of Xandar.  The show starts with the Xandarian Chamber Orchestra playing some traditional Xandaran music…  and as you would expect, it isn’t exactly pleasant to us earthlings.  The show is quickly interrupted by Peter Quill, who sets the record straight that Xandaran music isn’t exactly pleasant to the audience.   Gamora joins to remind Peter that the galaxy needs them, and they don’t have time to waste.  Baby Groot joins the action and patches in some of Peter’s favorite songs from his Awesome Mix Live Tapes. The show takes place at Epcot’s American Gardens Theater through Aug. 19, 2018, part of an Incredible Summer at Walt Disney World Resort, setting the stage for the first appearance of the characters in Epcot.  Wonder what else might happen between now and the 2021 opening of the new Guardian’s Coaster.
