Lauren and Eric talk through the nightmare scenario every theme park fan secretly worries about: getting stuck high above the ground on a ride. From a real-world roller coaster evacuation in Galveston to Disney attractions like the Skyliner, Space Mountain, Incredicoaster, and the monorail, they weigh which breakdowns would be terrifying and which might actually be kind of cool. Then they pivot to another theme park hazard: clickbait Disney news sites, including Hersheypark's online clapback and the outlets fans trust most. HIGHLIGHTS A Galveston roller coaster evacuation sparks a bigger conversation about the scariest possible ride breakdowns. Eric shares what it was like being evacuated from Space Mountain with the lights on. Lauren and Eric debate whether attractions like the Skyliner, monorail, Incredicoaster, and Pixar Pal-A-Round are worse in theory than in practice. Disney ride evacuations can feel more like behind-the-scenes adventures than disasters, depending on the attraction. Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and Living with the Land all land on the “wouldn't mind getting stuck there” list. Hersheypark calls out a misleading theme park news post, kicking off a discussion about Disney clickbait. Clickbait headlines, ad-heavy sites, and vague rumors make theme park news harder to trust. The fan community weighs in on trusted park news sources, from Disney Tourist Blog to BlogMickey and WDWMagic. For this episode's full show notes, click here. News: The newest Disneyland documentary we are all waiting for has a release date. Disneyland Handcrafted will premiere on Disney+ and Disney YouTube on January 22nd. The film covers the creation of Disneyland with rare, first-hand archival footage leading up to the opening in July, 1955. Leslie Iwerks and her team searched through over 100 hours of raw material from Disneyland in its earliest days. - https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/disneyland-handcrafted-release-date-and-more-details/ The first part of the Disneyland Forward project has a permit, with work beginning soon. The permit is for a 3.2 million square foot, 8-level open parking structure with 302 EV charging spots. This is the first part that needs to be completed before the additional capacity can be built and opened with the rest of the project. The new structure should hold 6,000 vehicles and feature a rideshare area, and transit hub. Construction is predicted to begin after runDisney at the end of January, since the space is currently used to facilitate the event. - https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/disneyland-files-permit-for-eastern-parking-structure/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ioc6c8v6HIY At the milk stand in Galaxy's Edge, we have had blue milk, green milk, and now a new color - pink milk! Starting January 8th, the new variation will be available at the milk stand in Batuu. No official word on what flavor the drink will be, but it could be something like watermelon. - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2026/01/06/move-over-blue-milk-pink-milk-debuts-at-disney-this-week/ https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/pink-milk-star-wars-galaxys-edge-marvel-comics/ Walt Disney Imagineering is bringing a more and more common home process to the parks. Haddy, a 3D printing company, has partnered with Disney to create a boat that will be installed in The Jungle Cruise as a prop. The process from design to completion will be sped up with the 3D printing process, as opposed to the previous molding process that could take thousands of hours to get just right. The new 3D printing technique only takes 70 robot hours. - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/12/22/news-disney-uses-3d-printing-to-create-new-ride-elements/ As the holiday season winds down, the refurbishment calendar is heating up. The Mark Twain Riverboat will be closing on January 12th through the 16th, the Haunted Mansion will return to the non-holiday overlay from January 11th through the 23rd. Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind is closed and will reopen January 23rd. The Incredicoaster is also currently closed and scheduled to reopen on February 6th. - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/12/27/disneyland-just-updated-us-on-four-2026-ride-closures/ The first part of the construction to bring Porto's Bakery and Cafe to Downtown Disney has started. The two ticket booths closest to the old Earl of Sandwich location have been torn down to make way for the new eatery. - https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/old-disneyland-ticket-booths-demolished/ With the holiday season nearly over, the 70th Celebration can take center stage once more. Wondrous Journeys will return on January 8th, and the Celebrate Happy Cavalcade will return on January 9th. Paint the Night is also returning, but at the end of the month on January 30th. We're so back. Thanks for listening to our first episode back with a new name, Parkside Breaks. For our first episode we introduce our guest, Emily Dostie from Glass Slipper Concierge. We follow along with her as she reviews her trip to Disneyland. We break down why the West Coast parks feel calmer, kinder, and more walkable—and how that shift turns a packed itinerary into a truly luxurious experience. Think: direct hotel-to-park access at the Grand Californian, characters actually roaming, lighter Lightning Lane pressure, and mornings that don't start in a sprint. We compare the energy of Disney California Adventure to Hollywood Studios, gush over the length and thrill of the Incredicoaster, and get honest about Guardians of the Galaxy vs Tower of Terror. Cars Land glows like a memory you get to step into, and seasonal overlays—like Haunted Mansion's Nightmare Before Christmas—show how Disneyland layers charm without adding chaos. Oogie Boogie Bash wins points for balance: sold-out party, but breezy lines, organic character moments, and candy trails that keep things moving.Pulling back, we map smarter ways to travel across the Disney universe. VIP Tours that prioritize presence, Disney Cruise Line's expanding ports for easier access beyond Florida, and curated Adventures by Disney that erase planning friction across Europe, Africa, and the American West. For the explorers at heart, National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions offer small-ship journeys to the Galápagos, Antarctica, and Iceland, guided by conservation and storytelling. Our takeaway is simple: luxury at Disney isn't just a price point—it's less stress and more time together. If you loved this, tap follow, share it with a Disney friend, and leave a quick review. Tell us: what's your one guaranteed ride and one guaranteed treat on your perfect Disney day?

Broadway superstar Kearran Giovanni ("Catch Me if You Can," "Tarzan," TV's "Major Crimes") joins pal David to share her love of Disney and the Theme Parks! From loving the films as a kid (specifially "The Little Mermaid") to starring as Belle in her own roller-skating version of "Beauty and the Beast," Kearran's passion for the mouse runs deep. Listen as she recalls her first visits to both Walt Disney World (not until college) and Disneyland (not until she moved to LA), and how once she finally arrived at the Parks she "found her people." In fact, when she moved to LA ten years ago with her family, her plan was simple: move, settle into the new house, and then go to Disneyland. (We support.) Bringing her kids to Disney has been a treat, and Kearran shares that watching her kids right the Teacups for the first time is a core memory. It take a very dedicated Disney fan to have a specific outfit when going to the Parks, and this is true for Kearran--her Disney uniform always includes a "Little Mermaid" shirt, and when visiting the Parks she loves the Jungle Cruise, the Matterhorn, the Incredicoaster, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and needs a Dole Whip moment in California Adventure, and loves the popcorn, especially the different colored-popcorns in Fantasyland! Kearran has some fun stories from performing in both "The Lion King" and "Tarzan" to share (like rehearsing with Phil Collins), and plays "Kearran's Disney World" which is a series of trivia questions tied to her Broadway resume. This "Aristocats"-loving star is also a huge fan of Disney pins and all of the special memories tied to each pin, and shares some of her favorites on the episode. Warning: "What if Mickey Mouse sang 'Big Spender'?" is something that is said on this episode. Disneyland Paris launched a waiting list for Magic Key holders. With the new option, Magic Key holders put themselves on a waiting list for any day that may appear unavailable. If the day opens up, those on top of the waiting list are automatically given a reservation for that day. This is currently only available at the Paris Park, but that's also where the Lightning Lane started before coming State-side, which definitely helps fuel some of the speculation. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/06/15/will-disneyland-introduce-a-magic-key-reservation-waiting-list/ Guests that have seen the recently reopened World of Color and Fantasmic! nighttime entertainment may have noticed some updates. The character is now a face character and not the same version of Buzz from the Toy Story movies. This version fits in well with the new movie since the movie is about the real Buzz that the toy from Toy Story is based on. The floral displays, or silletas, are a celebration of flowers. Fittingly, they start with a massive display from Encanto's Isabella and move throughout the district. The displays are a big display of inclusion and representation, such as LBGTQ+ Pride, Asian, Pacific Islander and Hawaiian heritage, Judaism, women, Indigenous and First-Nations people, Black, Hispanic, People of Latin heritage and people with different abilities. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/06/encanto-inspired-floral-displays-at-downtown-disney-district-represent-inclusion-at-the-disneyland-resort/ Last week, Cars Land turned 10 years old. News: This week, we got some more details about the Genie service coming to the parks soon. Over in Walt Disney World, the service will launch on October 19th. No date is set for Disneyland yet, but Disney says it will be announced soon. The Genie+ service, which is an additional cost, will be available at a number of attractions and works just like MaxPass from before the closure. Individual Lightning Lane selections will be an additional purchase on top of Genie+ and Lightning Lane, and will be priced from $7 to $15 per attraction, per guest. At this time, only Radiator Springs Racers, WEB Slingers, and Rise of the Resistance will be on the Lightning Lane+ service. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/10/08/disneyland-reveals-new-disney-genie-details-heres-how-the-itinerary-planning-app-works/ and https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/10/disney-genie-launching-at-walt-disney-world-resort/ At Disneyland, the following attractions will feature Lightning Lane as part of the Genie+ paid service. To be clear, these are part of the $20 per guest, per day Genie+ service, and not part of the Lightning Lane additional charge. Autopia, Big Thunder, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones, it's a small world, Matterhorn, Smuggler's Run, Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Star Tours. Over in DCA, Goofy's Sky School, Grizzly River Run, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission Breakout, Incredicoaster, Monsters, Inc., Soarin', and Midway Mania. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/10/08/disneyland-announces-22-rides-where-you-can-pay-to-skip-the-lines-heres-how/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/genie/ Guests that have been to Disney California Adventure this past week on rainy days may have been able to ride Web Slingers by waiting in a standby queue, instead of getting a boarding pass. Disneyland is switching to a standby queue on days when the attendance are lower for the new attraction. Guests who get a boarding group at the 7am window will have their boarding group honored, but there may not be a need for the noon boarding groups, and switch to standby only. The standby queue usually becomes active around 4-6pm. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/10/12/disneyland-pauses-web-slingers-virtual-queue-on-slow-days-and-switches-to-standby-line/ One of the big questions guests have been asking a lot recently is what is going on with the trams? The Orange County Register thinks that it is still related to the COVID-19 health and safety regulations that have been in place since the parks reopened. There were some posts online this week that said the trams were needing repairs after not being run for nearly a year and a half and maintenance teams are already overloaded. So, the real answer to when the trams come back is anyone's guess. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/10/11/when-will-disneyland-parking-lot-trams-return/ Joffrey's Coffee & Tea Company has finally made it to the west coast from Florida. The coffee stand that sits at the entrance to Pixar Pier and Paradise Wharf was recently converted to a Joffrey's, along with adding mobile ordering and some food offerings. Breakfast offerings are abailable until 11am, with a burrito available after. A chia fruit salad, sugar cookie, chocolate chip cookie, and chocolate croissants are offered all day. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/10/photos-joffreys-coffee-tea-company-makes-disneyland-resort-debut-at-the-gourmet-coffee-stand-at-disney-california-adventure/ Disney+ has been an excellent source of information and entertainment about the parks since it launched in 2019. A new movie, which will focus on the creation of Disneyland, will be debuting on the service in the future. The movie will be written by Evan Spiliotopoulos, who worked on The Jungle Book 2 and Beauty and the Beast. David Gordon Green is set to direct. He worked on Halloween and Halloween Kills as the writer and director. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/10/movie-focusing-on-disneylands-creation-coming-to-disney/ The Disneyland Resort has been hiring quite a few new cast members recently, although not a lot with more than two legs! The Circle D Ranch has recently received 5 new horses for Disneyland. The new horses are Dublin, a four-year-old Belgian and Percheron cross, Champ and his half brother Chip, who are 5 years-old and are Clydesdales. Lily is 5 years-old, with no breed mentioned. Finally, there is Pumpkin, who is one-and-a-half years old, and is a Percheron. The training to get horses from the ranch to Disneyland can take from 6 months to a year, depending on the horse. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/10/meet-the-new-disneyland-horses-at-circle-d-ranch/ After three long years, the current Disneyland Ambassadors Justin and Rafa, who would normally have held the position for two years, but because of COVID, their term was extended to three years, will retire to other positions in the parks. The new 2022-223 Ambassadors were announced last week, making their titles official. Mark is currently a stage manager in Disney California Adventure, starting with the company back in 2013. Nataly is a guest relations VIP hostess, starting with the company back in 2010. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/10/meet-the-next-disneyland-resort-ambassador-team/ Weeklyteers who are like Tage and love building models of Disneyland, there is a new 3D model book coming out soon! “Build Your Own Disneyland Park: Press Out 3D Model is now available for preorder on Amazon for $14.99. Some of the wallpapers include Miss Piggy as Madame Pigota, Animal, and Muppet versions of famous locations from the Haunted Mansion. There are some GIPHY stickers when you search Disney Plus Life on Instagram, and more. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/10/celebrate-muppets-haunted-mansion-with-all-new-digital-wallpapers-stickers-and-more/ The Haunted Mansion exhibit at Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln has been updated to include some of the props that were used to film the Muppets Haunted Mansion special. Is there life after Galaxy's Edge? This new “Star Wars Land” has raised the bar (and I'm not talking about the safety bar) for the rest of Disneyland Park, and all other theme parks for that matter. The average guest expectation around immersion, no doubt, was intensified when Universal Studios decided to jump the shark with the Harry Potter-themed regions of their Hollywood and Orlando parks. Disney Parks fan-boys/girls looked to their leader, Big Bob Iger, for a response. After much ado, we were graced with the inclusion of a brand new themed region at both Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, and Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. By delivering such an astonishingly plot-immersive galaxy among lands, detailed down to the Coca-Cola bottles looking like thermal detonators, Walt Disney Imagineering has created the contrast of all contrasts. A side-by-side comparison where even Disney's previous best, Cars Land at Disney's California Adventure, shows just how involved one can get while traipsing around the streets below the spire, and then feel so disconnected while standing in Radiator Springs and spotting the Incredicoaster in the near distance. How will Disneyland and her counterparts, both stateside in Orlando, and abroad, address the now occasional lack of immersive, cohesive theming outside of Star Wars Land? By setting the bar so high, Disney Imagineering has shined a proverbial flashlight on the rest of the lands throughout each park, putting their opportunities for improvement on the news! Come along as Scar and I take a deep dive into how we'd like to see the Disney theme parks handle this sudden requirement for evolution! Kingdom Cable: We chat dry ice no longer being permitted in Disneyland. We handle the topic of which smoking devices are going to be allowed in the stateside Disney theme parks going forward (trick statement - none of them are). And we even so briefly note that Disney Parks will no longer be allowing strollers for six, or those massive child and luggage transporting wagons in the parks. Don't forget to leave a comment - good, bad, or ugly - we'll take em all!
