http://www.attractionchecklist.com -  Prepare for launch!  We are headed to Magic Kingdom to ride Space Mountain on this episode of Attraction Checklist. Attraction audio recorded on June 4, 2024. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we visit Magic Kingdom and ride the classic attraction Space Mountain. The Walt Disney World website describes this attraction saying: Blast off on a rip-roaring rocket into the furthest reaches of outer space on this roller-coaster ride in the dark. Guests must be 44” or taller to ride this attraction and the Thrill Level calls it a Thrill Ride with Big Drops in the Dark. Before we head to Starport: Seven Five, here are five fast facts about Magic Kingdom's Space Mountain. 1. Space Mountain opened at Magic Kingdom on January 15, 1975. 2. Space Mountain was originally conceived by Walt Disney for an attraction at Disneyland.  In 1964, Walt Disney started John Hench on the idea of a space themed roller coaster initially called Space Voyage.  It wasn't until 1966 that imagineers christened it Space Mountain for the first time.  The technology at the time made building the attraction in Disneyland impossible, but there was plenty of room at Magic Kingdom so Space Mountain appeared in Walt Disney World promotional materials as early at 1969. 3. There are two tracks on Space Mountain at Walt Disney World, Alpha and Omega.  They are near identical in that they are 65ft (or 19.8m) high, have a drop of 26 feet (7.9m) and whisk you along at 27 mph (or 43.5 km/h).  The difference between the two tracks comes in where track length is concerned.  Alpha track's 3196ft (974.1m) of track is 10 ft (or 3m) longer than Omega's 3186 ft (971.1 m) 4. The first official rider on Space Mountain in 1975 was astronaut Colonel James Irwin. 5. Space Mountain holds the distinction of being the oldest operating roller coaster in all of Florida. Let's ride Space mountain.  After the ride audio I'll give you my thoughts on this attraction.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we experience Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom. http://www.attractionchecklist.com - It's time to take a leisurely cruise around the Rivers of America as we head to Magic Kingdom to ride the Liberty Square Riverboat on this episode of Attraction Checklist. Attraction audio recorded on June 6, 2024. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we're going to hop aboard the Liberty Belle for a cruise on the Liberty Square Riverboat. The Walt Disney World website describes this attraction saying: Cruise the scenic Rivers of America aboard an authentic steam-powered paddle wheeler.  There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and the thrill level describes the attraction as being a slow ride. Before we shove off, here are five fast facts about the Liberty Square Riverboat in Magic Kingdom. 1. The Liberty Square Riverboat attraction opened at Walt Disney World on October 2, 1971.  The first boat that served was called the Admiral Joe Fowler, named after Joe Fowler who was in charge of construction at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.  In 1973, a second river boat was added named the Richard F. Irvine.  In 1986, that boat was renamed to Liberty Belle which still runs the Rivers of America today.  An interesting note is that the original boat, the Admiral Joe Fowler was damaged in a dry dock incident and was retired in 1980.   2. The Liberty Belle is a steam-powered sternwheeler replica.  Sternwheeler means there is one paddle wheel on the rear or stern of the ship.  A steam engine pulled water from the river to turn into steam to power the paddlewheel. 3.  The Liberty Belle is 47 feet tall and features four decks for guests to visit during the ride. 4. During the 17 minute trip, a narrator, in the in the voice of Mark Twain points out the sights guests see as they travel down the river including an early American settlement, a Native American village and Big Thunder Mountain. 5. The captain on the narration track is named Horace Bixby who was a real riverboat captain who mentored Samuel Clemons aka Mark Twain. Let's head to Liberty Square for a ride on the Liberty Belle.  After the ride audio I'll give you my thoughts on this attraction.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphone put them on now as we ride Magic Kingdom's Liberty Square Riverboat! http://www.attractionchecklist.com - It's time to see what changes were made to Disneyland's Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin on this episode of Attraction Checklist.  Attraction audio recorded on July 31, 2023. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode takes us to Toontown in Disneyland to see the updated Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin.   We covered this attraction back in episode 82 of Attraction Checklist but here are a few more fast facts about the recent updates. 1. In December of 2021, several changes were made to the attraction, the main one being the addition of a storyline featuring Jessica Rabbit.  In the previous incarnation of the ride she was seen as more of a damsel in distress in the opening scene.  The update finds her in charge, helping stop the Weasels in her new bright yellow trench coat and fedora. 2. When Toontown closed for the addition of Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin got a refurbishment with some polish and effect tweaks.  The updated version opened on March 19, 2023. Now let's go ride the updated Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin.  John B. deHaas is along for the fun and we'll give you our thoughts on the updates after we ride.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphone put them on now as we ride Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin at Disneyland. Before we present our tickets at the El CapiTOON Theater, here are 5 fast facts about Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. 1.  On April 19, 2019, Disney announced that Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway would open at Disneyland Park in 2022.  Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway officially opened at Disneyland on January 27, 2023. 2. The popcorn seen in the queue's faux concession stand is shaped like Mickey, Minnie & Donald. 4. Minnie Mouse's voice actor Russi Taylor passed away after recording her lines for this attraction.  The song Nothing Can Stop Us Now, featured in the attraction, was dedicated to her memory.  5. During the construction of Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, Toontoown at Disneyland got a refresh including new faux hills that line the back of all the buildings of Toontown. http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Let's see what entertainment Main Street USA at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom has to offer as we experience Mickey's Celebration Cavalcade and a performance by The Dapper Dans on this episode of Attraction Checklist.  Attraction audio recorded on July 15, 2022. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we experience two Magic Kingdom Main Street USA Attractions: Mickey's Celebration Cavalcade and The Dapper Dans. Mickey's Celebration Cavalcade is lazily described in the guide map by saying: Favorite Disney pals march along the parade route throughout the day.  The Dapper Dans are not mentioned in the guide maps that I've seen but are described on the Disney World Website by saying: This lively barbershop quartet sings in harmony, tap dances in time and charms audiences with vaudeville humor. Both of these attractions are listed as being for all ages. Before we stake out our spot on Main Street, here are five fast facts about Mickey's Celebration Cavalcade and The Dapper Dans. 1. Mickey's Celebration Cavalcade is a short pop up parade that debuted for Walt Disney World's 50th Celebration.  It ran several times daily through March 2023 when it ended its run. 2.   Mickey's Celebration Cavalcade features appearances by Mini Mouse, Goofy, Donald and Daisy, Pluto, Chip and Dale and, of course, Mickey Mouse. 3. The Dapper Dans have been performing on Main Street USA at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom since the park's opening in 1971. 4. The bell like instruments played by The Dapper Dans are called Deagen Organ Chimes. 5. During the holidays season, The Dapper Dans will add Christmas songs to their repertoire.  And during Halloween events they are rebranded as The Cadaver Dans and sing a selection of spooky tunes. Let's now head to Main Street to check out not one, but two attractions.  John B. deHaas is along for the fun and we'll give you our thoughts on these attractions as we experience them.  These are binaural recordings so if you have headphone put them on now as we experience Mickey's Celebration Cavalcade and The Dapper Dans at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. Donald Duck appearing with characters from Coco marks the first time Disney and Pixar animators have worked on a project where characters from both animation studios would appear together on screen. 4. One of original composers from Coco, Germaine Franco returned to score the Coco section of the film. 5. The song ‘Un Poco Loco' from Pixar is featured in this update.  According to Google Translate, Un Poco Loco means ‘a bit crazy.' Let's go check out the recently refreshed Mickey's PhilharMagic.  I'm super excited to be joined by John B. deHaas again, this is the first time we've been in a Disney Park together since January of 2019.  After we watch the film we'll give you our thoughts on this update!  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we check out Mickey's PhilharMagic at Disney California Adventure! http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Let's take a leisurely cruise around Disneyland's Rivers of America on The Mark Twain Riverboat on this episode of Attraction Checklist! Recorded on May 18, 2021. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we head to Disneyland's Frontierland to climb aboard the Mark Twain Riverboat.  This attraction is described on the Disneyland Resort Website saying: Cruise the scenic Rivers of America on a sightseeing tour aboard a majestic 19th-century paddle boat. There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and the Thrill Level describes the ride as being a Slow Water Ride that is Loud. Before we shove off, here are five fast facts about the Mark Twain Riverboat at Disneyland. 1.  The Mark Twain is a Disneyland opening day attraction, opening with the park on July 17, 1955. 2. Walt Disney named the riverboat the Mark Twain after the pen name of author Samuel Langhorne Clemens.  Clemens, who was a riverboat captain in his youth took his pen name from the boating term mark twain meaning the water depth is safe for a boat to pass through. 3. The Mark Twain Riverboat stands 28 feet tall and is 105 feet long. 4. The Mark Twain travels around the Rivers of America on a rail.  Though the operators can control the forward and reverse speed of the boat, the steering of the ship is all done by this rail. 5. The Mark Twain burns biodiesel fuel in it's boiler turning water into steam.  The water used is fresh water from a tank on board, not the water in the Rivers of America. Let's see what sights we can see as we cruise around the Rivers of America on the Mark Twain Riverboat.  After we ride I'll give you my thoughts on this attraction and this is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we ride the Mark Twain Riverboat at Disneyland. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode finds us on Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure to take a ride on the Pixar Pal-A-Round.  This attraction actually has two descriptions on the Disneyland Resort website.  The first, for the standard version says: Take off on a classic Ferris wheel adventure high above Pixar Pier.  The second, covering the swinging version of the ride reads: Climb aboard for an exhilarating Ferris wheel adventure that swoops, swings, and slides—high above Pixar Pier. There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and the Thrill Level describes the standard version a Slow Ride and the swinging version as having Small Drops. Before we get a spectacular view of Disney California Adventure, here are five fast facts about the Pixar Pal-A-Round. 1.  The Pixar Pal-Around is a Disney California Adventure, opening day attraction, having opened with the park on February 8, 2001.  When it opened it was known as The Sun Wheel.  In 2008, it was renamed Mickey's Fun Wheel.  And on June 23, 2018, it was renamed once again to the Pixar Pal-A-Round. 2. The original inspiration for the Pixar Pal-A-Round is the Wonder Wheel found at Coney Island in New York. 3. The Pixar Pal-A- Round rises above Pixar Pier a towering 150 feet or 46 meters. 4. The Pixar Pal-A-Round is unique for a Ferris wheel in that 16 of it's 24 gondolas ride on interior rails that created a, sometimes wild, swinging as the wheel rotates. 5. There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and the thrill level describes it as being a slow ride that is dark and loud. Before we head off to the forest, here are five fast facts about Snow White's Enchanted Wish 1. On January 7, 2020, Disney closed the attraction Snow White's Scary Adventures (which we rode in episode 18) for an extended refurbishment. On December 3, 2020, it was announced that the attraction would reopen with the new name Snow White's Enchanted Wish. And on April 30, 2021, the attraction opens when Disneyland was allowed to reopen after being closed due to the pandemic. 2. The revamped attraction now features animated projections taken directly from the original Snow White film. 3. While there were always animals featured in the attraction, Imagineering added more than three dozen animals during this refurbishment. Squirrels, Rabbits, Deer, Birds and, of course, a raven, can be spotted as guests move through the ride. There are more birds in the attraction than any other kind of animal. 4. In order to create some of the figures for the attraction, Disney brought back veteran sculptor Theresa Miller to sculpt some of the Dwarves faces and animals for the reimagined attraction. 5. In addition to new LED lighting, projection mapping and new animated figures, Snow White's Enchanted Wish also features a few smells as guests move through the attraction.
